Vampires. Werewolves. Beasts that hunt in the night…When New Orleans Detective Jane Hart investigates her first official homicide case, she never expects to have her world ripped apart. But the murder she’s investigating is part of a deadly war between vampires and werewolves…and now Jane is caught in that eternal battle. A battle that can’t end well.
Werewolf Aidan Locke has been running New … running New Orleans for years. It’s his job to keep the vamps out of the city. But when a Master Vampire comes to town, determined to unleash hell, Aidan knows it’s time to fight with all the fury of his pack. Beast versus vamp, until the last breath. Then he meets Jane…
One look, one taste, and Aidan knows that Jane is far more than she seems. Far more than she even knows herself to be. She’s important in the paranormal war, not a pawn to be used, but a queen to be won. And if he can’t keep her at his side, if he can’t stop the darkness from descending on the town…then Jane Hart will become not just a fierce cop, not some guardian, but something deadlier. Darker. Aidan will fight heaven and hell to change her fate. To change their fate because he is more than just a predator.
And Jane is more than prey. Far more.
The world is changing—for the humans and the monsters. Hot, sexy, and intense, BITE THE DUST is the first novel in New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden’s dark new “Blood and Moonlight” series.

Detective Jane Hart is investigating her first official homicide case, which quickly changes her world. The murder is a part of a werewolf and vampire war which she has now been dragged into.
This was ok. I liked the characters and the concept of the war. I just wasn’t captivated by this one like I have been with other Eden books. I liked how determined Jane was to stop the killer but her constant obsession with the law, especially in the beginning, got annoying. Aiden is the werewolf alpha and is determined to keep Jane safe. He doesn’t expect Jane but he still falls hard for her.
“You were not what I expected. But you are exactly what I want.”
The concept of the vampire and werewolf war was fascinating. I loved the dynamic between these two species. The last part of this book was nonstop and I really enjoyed it. I want to know more about Annette and her voodoo abilities because she seems fascinating.
Overall, this book was just ok. I know there are two more books in the series but I don’t know if I will read them.
I really liked this book a lot! There was just something about Aidan…lots of yummy goodness and Jane was totally kick ass. I loved her personality and her spirit. Working together they made a great team and a sweet couple. I am crossing my fingers things will go forward as I hope they will for the dynamic couple in the rest of the series. There is plenty to enjoy in Bite the Dust – lots of intrigue, mystery, lies, betrayal, suspense, murder, action and romance. A bit of something for everyone! It was easy to get pulled into the mystery and exciting to follow Jane and Aidan on their journey to the truth. Aidan was just as he seemed, a hardcore alpha male with the weight of the city and protecting his pack resting on his shoulders as well as his determination to keep Jane safe and protected, whether she wanted his help or not. Jane was headstrong and resilient and determined to jump head first in the murder investigations taking place in her city. She wanted answers and was going to find the truth and the murderer, even if it got her killed in the process. Her mysterious background, as it was revealed, added a nice level of intensity to the twists and turns in the storyline. There is definitely more than meets the eye to her and certain actions could have lethal consequences. Eden’s writing easily pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. It was an exciting adventure and I am looking forward to reading the other stories in this series.
the first in a series . . . if you like vampires, werewolves and detectives in New Orleans, you will love this
I enjoyed it.
Loved it
This one surprised me. I wasn’t expecting much but it really pulled me in and when I finished it I wanted more immediately. I can’t wait to explore this new world and get to know these characters better.
I couldn’t get in the story didn’t finish it
Interesting and well written.
I enjoyed the series and the strong characters in the books.
Got bored at the end
Great sexy male characters..Female was kinda bitchy but I think that was intentional to ensure an eventual softening of the characters personality. Good but unexpected ending..
Great book kept me engaged couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read the next one
This is a romance where the main characters should avoid each other at all costs, but don’t. It is a mash up werewolf meets vampire story.
I have read hundreds of paranormal books over the last 10 years. For some reason this book and the five that I have read following it (by the same author) are just intriguing and very different than the norm. I’m having difficulty putting into words why this book so much different and can’t put my finger on it except the storyline is a little bit unique the characters and the roles they play are also unique and I had great difficulty putting the book down.
Interesting paranormal read. New twists on vampires and werewolves that I hadn’t read before. Looking forward to reading the second book.
Good premise, disappointing execution.
Loved it!
I love this book it was so hard to put down until the end.

Simple but fast paced and interesting. A good light read.
