EmmaYou can do it.The last words my brother ever said to me.I’ve got one chance to prove him right. And nothing is going to stop me.Not even a tall, sexy cop, armed with a glare that melts panties.Too bad I don’t have time to go to war with him.Because I could think of a dozen different ways to bring him to his knees.I can’t afford to pay the price of failure. But the way he looks at me… Makes me … of failure.
But the way he looks at me… Makes me want to break every promise I’ve ever made.
Dominic
She’s a goddamn menace.
I want her, but some lines shouldn’t be crossed.
Nothing she says will change that.
She’s on a mission, but so am I.
And she’s my target.
We both know she doesn’t stand a chance.
But while my eyes are on her… I can’t see the threat on the horizon.
There’s only one option, and I’ve got to bite the bullet to get it done.
Emma Hayes doesn’t know it yet, but she’s mine.

This is a different read for me, and I have to say that the characters are seriously so worth my time, the writing is brilliant and it is just that good! I love this authors tellings of things that make her happy and feel good and shine and it shows in the writing. Such a bloody brilliant plot and scenes that scream at you from within. Wonderfully written with heaps and heaps of going ons! Pretty good read with the brilliances of this author. Oh yeah I highly recommend this series and anything else by this author.

Loved Emma’s determination and I sort of fell for her as well as Dom. Their story is not easy but they chemistry and heat between them is fire. I devoured this because I was sucked into the story and all they were both striving for.
Bite the Bullet is the third book in the Birch Police Department series, but could be read as a stand alone. Dom has wanted to claim Emma as his, but knows he’s about to be deployed again and can’t imagine hurting Emma that way. She just wants Dom to give them a chance, but when he finally does and she realizes that he’s keeping secrets, will her love ever let her forgive his mistakes?
Oh my goodness! This book was pure emotional goodness, between the angst and longing, love and secrets, and the drops here and there of suspense and danger, and I didn’t want to put this book down. Emma and Dom were everything! I loved their passion, the way they both wanted each other, and while I wanted to be upset at their lack of communication at times, I just felt so invested in their story and what would happen next. Emma is driven and brave, training to become a police officer to honor her promise to her brother, so I loved how much of a warrior she was! She had some real vulnerabilities, though, too. Dom just so badly wanted to soak up all of the good times while he could, so he definitely made some mistakes, but just wanted to keep Emma’s heart safe, even if that meant sacrificing his own. I loved their journey to finding and facing their love. I thought this book was fantastic. I actually wasn’t expecting the small twist at the end, but knowing some of Ms. Canavan’s books, I should have. I may or may not have gasped out loud, haha, but that’s okay. I was definitely invested in this book, these characters, and this world, and I went all in. I loved reading this book and can’t wait for the next!
Wow, what a great storyline and plot. I couldn’t put the book down. This is the first book of this series that I’ve read and wow, it’s dynomite. Dom and Emma have the most incredible chemistry together. Dom was deployed with Emma’s brother, who was his best friend, but something went wrong and Dom came back home and Emma’s brother didn’t. Emma and Dom have a beautiful night together and then Dom disappears. Emma is totally confused about what happened. I had so many emotions going on and I couldn’t wait until Dom got his head together and went after Emma. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I can’t wait to grab another book. Oh poor Bee!! I can’t believe what happened to her oh my goodness! On the bright side I love these two’s story. Oh and the flask at the wedding now that was hilarious. Can a new relationship survive a huge lie or a lie by omission? I absolutely LOVE this series! I get excited every time a new one comes out. I want to spill the beans but what fun would that be? Just be prepared for a sad – sometimes funny – loving – caring – intense book.

This is the third book in the Birch Police Department series. I’m pretty sure I’m starting to sound like a broken record when I say I loved this book. I swore starting this book I wasn’t going to cry, and I thought for sure I was going to make it but nope the author is an evil genius and got me again. For me this one wasn’t as emotional as books one and two, which put my heart through the wringer and broke it over and over again, but this book will still get all the feels going. I love Emma and Dom. Dom wants Emma, but he knows he’s getting ready to deploy again and he saw what her brother Danny’s death did to her and he doesn’t want to do that to her. He thinks it’ll be better to stay away but that proves to be impossible, but he finds it difficult to find the right way to tell her he’s going back to Afghanistan again. I can’t wait for book four which is Chloe and Ian’s story. As always you can read this book as standalone, but this series is wonderful, and I think it’s best enjoyed when read in order.

I was introduced to this author and her Birch Maine world through ARC programs. This was provided by BookSprout. The book takes the story of Emma and Dom, as she is looking at joining the Birch Police Department. If you have read the other books in the series, these characters may be somewhat familiar. As the book opens, Emma is getting ready to join the police department and has been taking care of her neighbor’s daughter. Similar to the other men in these books, Dom has served in the military but is still active in the reserves. Although there is an attraction and flirtation between Emma and Dom, there is a hesitancy that is familiar to the other books. They try to manage their feelings along with Emma starting her new career and Dom’s concerns about being involved with someone while away serving his country. Adding to the relationship, the book has plenty action and adventure to keep the pages flipping.
I’m new to this author but I will definitely read more by her. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for more opportunities to read books by her! I highly recommend her!

I love all the stories in this series so far, and this one is no different. It probably was one of my favorites so far. The story had my emotions on a roller-coaster while reading it but I did not want to put it down until I was done. Dom and Emma’s story had passion, heartbreak, and banter that left me hungrily reading well into the wee hours of the morning. Their connection was so strong even though there were secrets between them. There were parts were I was frustrated with the characters and then other parts where I absolutely loved them. Now I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in this series! I would definitely recommend this book, or rater this whole series. Such a great read.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. The third book of the Birch Police Dept series is a roller coaster of emotion. Dom and Emma have fought and denied the chemistry between them for some time. She always was off limits in his mind but now he gets a second chance. They have to work together which brings it all into the open between them. It does not mean that it is smooth from there though. There are still obstacles for them to face before they can have a future together. I enjoyed both of the characters and their story. I am looking forward to Break It Down next

The third book in the Birch Police Department series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Emma Hayes and Dominic/Dom Ortiz’s story of suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, Bee a little girl who needs them there for her, villains, and romance. I want to read more in this series. This is the first book I’ve read in the series and the author did a good job blending previous characters with current. Dom returned from Afghanistan, but Emma’s brother did not. Knowing he is getting deployed again, he tries to stay away from Emma so she doesn’t have to go through it again, if he is killed. As he is her training officer for the police department and best friends with another brother, it is a battle he is losing. Emma is a kick ass character that is able to hold her own and even best her fellow officers. Dom is also has strong character, but is able to be what Emma needs.Sweet romance that will definitely pull on your heartstrings.
This is a friend to lover romance with Emma who has been friends with Dominic but they are both attracted to each other and as much as she tries to get him to see her as a woman and not his friends little sister he refuses until he can’t. They are so perfect for each other and as they have to separate he back to the military and she to the police academy they actually grow stronger.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
This is book third of the Birch Police Department series it appears each book will read as a standalone however, why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series. Emma is a force to be reckon with, she is Linc’s little sister, and she is headed to the police academy but until then she is settled with Dom who has been attracted to her for some time. Dom is new to the station, sexy as all get out officer, who has been assigned to Emma until showing her the in’s and out’s and she has Dom tripping over himself. The chemistry is intense and instant, and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored when they start to get to know each other a secret is there to keep them apart. To protect her Dom holds the secret but like all secrets they won’t remain hidden and when Emma finds out will she give him a chance to explain it was for her protection, can they find happiness?
Ive yet to read a book in The Birch Police Department series that i havent liked and Bite the Bullet is no different. Linc and Danny’s sister gets her own book in book 3 in this series. Emma & Dom Have an instant attraction but problems arise between them when Dom is deployed. It brings on bad memories and heartache for Emma. Oh boy there two characters just broke my heart. As soon as this book starts you know that they are perfect for each other but Dom puts a stop to anything between them progressing. I understand the reason why he does it but i felt for Emma. I just wanted to scream at him to get your act together and sort it out! I so wanted them to get their HEA ending. I loved them though. Cuteness overload came in the form on Nox and Bee. They were so sweet. Bite the Bullet was another great read. I cant wait for Ian and Chloe’s book now
This is book 3 in the birch police department series. This is an energetic story full of action and suspense. You will not want to put it down

Emma and Dominic’s journey was a rollercoaster, they had many ups and downs but they were drawn to each other, the attraction was strong, so wasn’t their chemistry, it was sex, they were good together.
I enjoyed this story.
April is an amazing author that pita her heart and soul into her books. This book does not dissappoint I enjoyed this book so much. I related to Emma and her feelings as her brother was deployed and killed. Then to find out the man you love is getting redeploy and not telling you! This is an emotional read that wi take you through many emotions. You will not be able to put it down until you are do e reading the book, the. You will be numb after reading it. Well done.
