EmmaYou can do it.The last words my brother ever said to me.I’ve got one chance to prove him right. And nothing is going to stop me.Not even a tall, sexy cop, armed with a glare that melts panties.Too bad I don’t have time to go to war with him.Because I could think of a dozen different ways to bring him to his knees.I can’t afford to pay the price of failure. But the way he looks at me… Makes me … of failure.
But the way he looks at me… Makes me want to break every promise I’ve ever made.
Dominic
She’s a goddamn menace.
I want her, but some lines shouldn’t be crossed.
Nothing she says will change that.
She’s on a mission, but so am I.
And she’s my target.
We both know she doesn’t stand a chance.
But while my eyes are on her… I can’t see the threat on the horizon.
There’s only one option, and I’ve got to bite the bullet to get it done.
Emma Hayes doesn’t know it yet, but she’s mine.

Dom and Emma’s story is finally here!!!! Dom has loved Emma for a long time but keeps pushing her away…he was with her brother when he died from an insurgent attack in the Middle East. While Dom is a senior officer in the Birch PD, he is still in the Army Reserves and is getting ready to deploy for an extended period, but he hasn’t shared this with his loved ones. Emma is a rookie at Birch PD and her training officer is none other than the man she loves but who wants nothing to do with her. She is glad that Dom is settling down at BPD and no longer heading overseas to a war zone…he is safe. In spite of himself, Dom can’t ignore Emma forever and the pair FINALLY give in to their feelings! Just when you think that we will have an HEA, Emma’s love bubble is burst when she discovers that Dom is deploying! Emma’s heart and trust is shattered. Can Dom save this relationship or is this the one time that there is no HEA? Another enjoyable book in the series.
** spoiler alert ** He is trying to resist, she is trying to live her dream. One lie of omission could ruin what they have. Will she forgive him when it all comes down to it?
Just like the other books in this series, I loved this one. I loved how she was determined to not let anything hold her back from the future she wanted. I loved how he was willing to do whatever it took to win her over when he knew he messed up. Great read!
Each book in the series features a new couple. Technically each book could be read as a standalone, however I recommend reading them in order as characters appear throughout the series. The seeds of Emma and Dom’s story takes place in an earlier book.
The attraction is mutual, however when has the course to HEA ever run smoothly? Chemistry, secrets and a touch of personal drama round out this story.
Emma and Dominic had a one night stand with him pulling the disappearing act the next morning. Nothing will stop Emma from her police training since her brother had faith in her ability to become an officer. Dominic fights any feelings he may have for Emma but can’t stay away for long. Can the two reconcile and stay together?

Not much of a runner, Emma Hayes has been trying to get good enough so she can enter the police academy. She has everything else covered, her father and brothers saw to that. Dominic Ortiz has been in love with Emma since he saw her at the wedding of Remy and, lifting her bridesmaids dress and flashing the four flasks she has taped to her thighs. Absolutely no one can say this book is uneventful. The story is full of fun hijinks, tense situations, romance, steam, and ends in a HEA. Highly recommended.

First chance blown to smithereens, second chance redemption
Bite The Bullet (Birch Police Department Book 3) by April Canavan is a well written law enforcement romance with an emphasis on the romance aspect for Dom and Emma. Their romance has a stuttered start only to come to an abrupt halt thanks to avoidance on Dom’s part.
I really liked these characters. Emma is Wonder Woman in the flesh, but no flash in the pan. She is strong and steady, full of purpose in everything she does including Dom. And Dom! This man alternately had me sighing with exasperation or stealing my very breath. He’s alpha all the way, but fails Emma big time by lying.
The plots are very well rounded with plenty going on to keep the reader fully engaged in this book. What I found most compelling is the emotions; from shattered hearts, anger, despair, fear, family fun and joy. The law enforcement element of this book simmers along, bubbling up and boiling over for some action here and there. But the real action is a plot twist I really didn’t see coming! It was all those feels mentioned earlier all at the same time.
Overall, this steamy romance is a very enjoyable read for the characters, the pace of the story and all the action. Despite Dom’s bungling, his super hot alph-ness redeems himself in the end. His words and actions go a long way to mending both their hearts for a second chance with Emma, giving them the joyful opportunity to finally ‘bite the bullet’, beginning their HEA.
I read an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
I have a thing for men in uniform and Dom is by far my favorite. Dom served with Emma’s brothers and has been the center of her attention for quite some time. The day she caught his eye was the day she offered him a drink from a flask that had been strapped to her thigh. She’s going to the academy and he’s heading back overseas. Lies and feelings of betrayal are hard to overcome but he’s not giving up without a fight.

Bite the Bullet is the third book of the Birch Police Department series. Honestly, I didn’t know that this was apart of a series. So, if you’re like me and just joining in, this is a standalone. I am a total newbie to April Canavan’s stories and I’m glad I found them. This was so easy to follow and very entertaining. The only thing I was struggling a bit was that it was a bit slower than what I’m used to, however,it was very steamy, with very likable characters and it just wanted you to root for them. I will definitely check out her previous books. This was such a fun series

Another emotional rollercoaster in the Birch Police Department series. This story was beautifully written with laugh out loud moments, heart felt moments, and tearjerker moments. Emma is awesome. She is one tough, strong and independent chick. I loved that she wasn’t afraid to take on the men in any situation. Emma and Dom were great together and fought hard to get their HEA. The characters were awesome, especially Nox and Bee. I really enjoyed this book. It’s a great addiction to this suspenseful and addicting series.

After reading this book I had to take a little time to compose myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review.
Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

I was very excited to finally be able to read this story. I have loved the other stories in the “Birch Police Department” series. This story did not disappoint in the least. This is a really really good small town story with some intense and emotional moments. This is a stand alone read with connected characters. You would probably get more out of the characters if you read them in order but you don’t have to. This is Dom and Emma’s story. Dom has a secret he just got wind of but now he has to train the newest member of the police department. One he cannot keep thinking about. Emma, the newest recruit, and Linc’s little sister. These two have a wild attraction and off the charts chemistry but he is fighting it because of his secret could cause her more pain. It is full of witty banter, humor, angst, passion and great twists and turns. I loved every bit of it!!
Tacos and love are the greatest rewards
Bite the Bullet is the third book in the Birch Police Department series and is about Emma Hayes and Dominic “Dom” Ortiz. Emma is Linc’s younger sister, his story is in Boots on the Ground. Se is also trying out to join the Birch Police Department. Dom is a detective with the Birch Police and is best friends with Linc. When he sees her for the first time he is hooked on her, even if he should not be while Emma has crushed on Dom for a long time now. So nothing could go wrong here right?
This is a roller-coaster ride of emotions that are excellently woven together in a story that draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you immersed until the end. The characters are well developed and have a depth and complexity that makes them interesting. For me Bite the Bullet is a wonderful addition to this series and another RECOMMEND READ.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Book 3 in the Birch Police Department series, readers will fall in love with Dom and Emma’s story. They have known each other for years since Emma’s brother is best friends with Dom. With Emma joining the police academy, what happens when you fall for your best friend’s little sister and you are a detective in the same police force, but now you are getting ready to deploy? When two strong people are so aware of each other and the sparks fly, expect an emotional read that will have you turning the pages to see the battle they each fight with themselves as well each other. **I was gifted “Bite The Bullet”, leaving my review based on my reading.** 5 Stars!
