Character development:
The heroine: Leigh – she is a bar owner and comes across one of her employees who has not shown up for work for a few days. She knew he had a crush on her, but when he corners her with another guy who then bites her, she knows she is in trouble.
The Hero(es): Lucien – He is one of the oldest immortals, having been born in Atlantis from a mother who was given the nano’s to heal her when she was carrying him and his twin brother Jean Claude. He had a life mate and children who died when Atlantis fell.
The Story: Lucien and his team are after a rogue immortal named Morgan who is creating a family of immortals and telling them they are vampires, cursed without a soul and they must stay out of sunlight and feed on humans. Leigh’s coworker was turned by Morgan and wants Leigh to be his and asks Morgan to turn her as well.
Leigh nearly escapes from Morgan, but runs into Lucien and his team of enforcers. The enforcers know Leigh because they have gone to her bar to eat all week and they talk Lucien into helping her since she hasn’t bitten a human yet. Lucien is an old immortal so he is grouchy and grumbles about it but agrees.
I really enjoy the way these old immortals are. At some point, mostly everything gets boring to them after thousands of years. They stop eating food altogether, though immortals can eat regular food since they are not dead. They stop having sex because even that gets boring and get grouchy like a crotchety old man.
However, when they find a life mate, they start to get interested in things again. They start to hunger for things other than blood. Lucien is hilarious this way since he hasn’t eaten since a wedding he attended long ago (that of Alexander the Great) and even only did so then to be polite. So his first tastes of food and drinks of the current time is pretty good and his firsts of other things after so long are hot and steamy.
There are of course side stories about the rogue vampires and Leigh being a contemporary woman isn’t too swift to accept that she and Lucien belong together forever. Leigh has had bad experiences in the past, not counting being bitten and abducted and is not quite ready or willing to settle down.
The narration was fine. I take a point off due to there being only one Narrator. I like having dual narration and I think that even if a book is told in a single POV, they can still do dual narration because there is always things he says and things she says so I don’t see an issue there.
I absolutely loved this book… it was so funny and could not put it down.. these characters were fantastic and could not get enough of them..
Love this series
A great paranormal romance series
Couldn’t put it down it’s
Brilliant with humorous aspects HEA
I read anything Lynsay Sands writes! Her characters are interesting and well-developed, and while each book is a standalone, the characters that repeatedly appear keep the series interesting. The vampire world Sands has developed is always fascinating, and it’s hard to wait for the next installment to be released!
I love Lynsay Sands! It was so much fun to read Lucian’s story. I waited entirely too long to read this one. It got lost on my TBR wall of shelves. I love this series and have been waiting to read Lucian’s story. He’s protective and crotchety and sexy, and deserves his own heroine to smooth out the edges. He gets it with Leigh. Sand’s story is funny. Many laugh out loud moments. Poor Lucian didn’t stand a chance. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Yes, nothing else got done that day.
A fun and easy read with a well developed storyline. Great characters. One of the best books in the series. But I read all the Argeneau books and love them all! Awesome author!!
Guy is totally clueless. Must be his age. Can’t let his hunters know.
10 star rating as with whole series
