USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Meet the Arizona Vengeance, hockey’s hottest new team. They’re burning up the ice—until a one-night-stand with the coach’s daughter freezes one player in his skates. Bishop Scott, co-captain. Not too shabby, huh? It’s all part of my fresh start with the NHL’s latest expansion team, and that means new teammates, a new coach, a new city, and a big new contract. Basically, I … big new contract. Basically, I cannot f***ing wait to show my old squad what they’re missing.
But first, I decide to check out the town before the grind begins. Turns out Arizona chicks are totally smokin’, and I’m fortunate enough to meet one who’s looking for the same thing I am: a night of anonymous, unforgettable, no-strings-attached sex.
Fast forward to the Vengeance arena. It’s the last place I expect to see her again—let alone in her own office. Then bells go off and I finally realize who this girl is: Brooke Perron. My new coach’s daughter. All of a sudden, we’re picking up right where we left off, which means our hands are all over each other. That’s when her dad—my boss—walks in. And before I can get a word out, Brooke’s introducing me as her fiancé.
Sure, she just saved my ass. So why do I get the feeling Brooke’s going to turn my world upside down? Maybe it’s because this fake relationship feels way too real. . . .
Praise for Bishop

I am a huge fan of Ms. Bennett, especially the Cold Fury series, so I was super excited for this new Vengeance hockey series. It was so damn good!
We meet Bishop, one of the assistant captains of the new team. A one-night stand turned into so much more…Brooke is the coach’s daughter who just moved to the area to help take care of her dad. Men were not on her radar.
“No matter what led us to this moment, right now, I’m yours, and no one should touch what is yours.”
The chemistry between Bishop & Brooke was insane! It was off the charts hot! I loved the family dynamic with Brooke & her dad as well as Bishop & his mom. I adored meeting all of the other guys of the Vengeance team and cannot wait for their stories, particularly Tacker! Ms. Bennett, you have another amazing hit on your hands and I cannot wait for more hockey hotties! (5 stars)
In this new sports romance series from Sawyer Bennett, there’s a new expansion team called the Arizona Vengeance in the hockey league and it’s made of up players from all the other teams in the league in this spin-off from the Cold Fury series.
Bishop is chilling at the bar when a woman catches his eye and after some banter, they end up spending the night together. Right from the start there’s a sense that this “relationship” is something different. He’s finds out just what’s different when he runs into Brooke the next day at the stadium and finds out she’s the coach’s daughter.
Caught in a make-out session with Bishop, Brooke lies to her father telling him they’re engage and have been dating. And Bishop goes along with it, setting the stage for them to fall for each other for real.
This was a really sweet story between Brooke and Bishop. Neither one is looking for a permanent thing, yet they can’t ignore the feelings between them. I really liked how they fell in love with each other.
When everything explodes for them when the truth comes out, they have to really decide what they want. I have to say that I really liked Bishop. He is a good guy. I loved his point of view chapters. I didn’t connect as much with Brooke because she just really seemed like she didn’t want to be in Arizona at all, and she does something really stupid (but sweet and generous) that kicks off a lot of their trouble.
Overall, I thought this was a great start to a series I’m looking forward to reading. There’s a nice introduction to the players on the team and there are definitely some interesting characters for follow-up books in the series.
First book in the new hockey series Arizona Vengeance. Bishop was traded to the new expansion team and when he meets Brooke sparks fly. Little does he know she’s the new coach’s daughter and a small white lie turns into a big secret. I really liked how these two just liked each other and they didn’t fight their attraction to one another. The two of them were pretty hot together and they both were in agreement with what they wanted. Great story and flowed at a good speed. I really liked the secondary characters that you meet that I am assuming will get their own book eventually. But I really wanna know more about Tacker Hall! He is a broken man and I need to see his story! Good book that I gladly recommend.
I voluntarily reviewed an early copy of this book.
I’m so pumped for this Arizona Vengeance series. Bishop is good to start with. Especially since, you know, he’s faking an engagement with the coach’s daughter after a one night stand. WHAT?! So this is a good mix of sports romance and fake fiance.
Brooke is a character who is easy to love. She’s sincere, smart, independent. Even when old friends walk all over her, or she’s lying to everyone about the status of her relationship. Bishop is a good teammate, close with his mama (aww) and a considerate boyfriend. With a protective streak that’s hot! I love these two together and even on their own, hope to get updates on them in future books.
We are also introduced to more team members, and they all look promising for the series! If the rest are as good as book one, I can say this series is going to be at least as awesome as the Carolina Cold Fury series.
Another great book by Sawyer Bennett! This is a fake fiance, sports romance and the first in her Arizona Vengeance hockey series. I am not always a big fan of the fake fiance books, but this one was so well done. I just loved Brooke. She is such a strong, caring character. She treats everyone with respect and clearly cares about those closest to her. Bishop is hot, hot, hot. He is not happy when Brooke blurts out to her father that they are engaged. He barely knows her and here she has tied them together and under the close eye of her father/his new coach. Of course their chemistry is off the charts and the sex scenes are quite steamy. It was really enjoyable to watch them go from a fake relationship, to learning about each other, and finally falling in love. Told from a dual POV, this is a standalone romance with a HEA. I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this honest review.
***4 Stars***
Sawyer Bennett announces a new series? I sit up and take notice.
When she announces it’s about hockey players? I make grabby hands at it.
And it was all kinds of goodness. It was sweet, very, VERY smexy, funny with a good dose of heart, a dash of batshit crazy and a cast of secondary characters that have definitely peaked my interest and we have a book I thoroughly enjoyed and a great start to a new series!
Bishop is a really good man. He’s charming, charismatic and has just enough alpha AF goodness going on to melt your panties. I really liked Bishop he has a good heart and outside of the situation he finds himself in, is honest and upfront with how he feels.
Brooke was a sweetheart. She is compassionate with a golden heart, which at times gets her into difficult situations, but only because she is looking out for others. She is also something of an enigma in that there are times when she’s all kinds of confident and then can turn shy and unsure in a blink of an eye.
Brooke and Bishop’s journey definitely started out with a bang in more ways than one and at the onset, I wasn’t too sure how things would go, but in the end I really liked how everything played out for them. The angst was low and watching as they went from being in a ‘fake’ relationship to more was a lot of fun. Their bantering was fun and the smexy was HAWT. But what I really liked was that, despite the situation, they acted like the adults they were and stayed the course for the most part. The bump in the road wasn’t a big one, which I was happy about, but it did finally push both of them to admit that what was going on between them wasn’t fake anymore.
I have to say, for a first in a series, I really enjoyed it. I loved the set up and the background given on what was going on with the new team. There is a bit of crazy drama going on and while it was done well, because that stuff does happen. As for the supporting cast of characters, Tacker and Dominik are the two I’m most curious about, but I loved Dax and cannot wait for Erik’s book to drop because it promises to be a good one!
Note: This is set in the same world as Cold Fury, but you don’t need to read that series before diving into this one.

Fans of Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury’s series has been waiting for her new hockey series Arizona Vengeance to be released. It promises to be a great series, like her other one. While I think the beginning dragged a bit for me, by the second chapter I was swept up into Bishop and Brooke’s story. While it is the fake fiancé premise, their story is more. It is two people attracted to each other from the beginning fall in love. So they got engaged before the love and romance, I think it happens more than what we believe.
Ms. Bennett is a great writer and storyteller and every book gets better and better.
Sawyer Bennett has done it again, with a brand new series, based on hockey which she has done before. This time, the team is in Phoenix, and the hockey players come across very real. Bishop and Brooke make a wonderful couple, and I loved the subterfuge they had to go through. There really would not have been any conflict if Nannette hadn’t been included, but knowing Ms. Bennett’s writing, it was nothing less than i would expect. Interesting plot, good romance. What more do you want, especially if you are into sports romances.
Funny, hot and a little dirty; an entertaining setup for the new series
This is an auto 1-click author for me, and other than knowing this was book 1 of a spin off of her Cold Fury hockey series, I had no clue what the story actually was about. When I got to the fake engagement I literally snorted with laughter and cheered, because fake boyfriend/fiancé storylines are some of my favorites. Btw, no worries if you haven’t read the Cold Fury series (but I have to say, why not? ); though the team is mentioned, specific characters aren’t, so you won’t feel like you’re missed out by starting here.
I liked both Bishop and Brooke, two essentially good people with some off the charts chemistry between them–I loved when Bishop’s Alpha side came out (in and out of the bedroom), whoa, boy! *fans self* I also loved how caring Brooke was about her father, and how supportive Bishop was about Brooke’s career because it made her happy, even though it wasn’t what he wanted.
As for secondary characters, using a brand new expansion team for this new series was a clever way for the author to be able to introduce a bunch of new characters naturally in the context of the story. And can I just say, I knew immediately I wanted Tacker Hall’s story, like now?! Though I was very taken with several of the other secondary characters as well.
In addition to all the chemistry between Brooke and Bishop, there was a lot of humor; for instance, I loved the way Bishop’s mother teased him and a nice twist with Brooke’s father towards the end both definitely had me laughing out loud. Speaking of ending, the end here was quite abrupt; though I’m not sure what I was expecting, I’m thinking maybe the author did it that way to avoid spoilers for the following books?
Besides the end, I did have a few other (relatively minor) problems with the book. For instance, I had trouble buying the setup for the subplot with Brooke’s friend–they didn’t seem close enough to be that aware of what was going on in each other’s lives. Also, while we’re told Brooke talks about her mother all the time, we never really see it; I feel like the author missed an opportunity there to add another layer of emotion and character development to the story.
Funny, hot and a little dirty, this was an entertaining setup for the new series. I’m looking forward to reading more about the Arizona Vengeance players, especially Dax and Tacker, and, yes, Eric, whose book is going to be next. I’m even hoping maybe the coach and team owner will get a story, fingers crossed. 4 stars

Bishop meets Brooke at a bar and they both are f to each other and looking for some fun. When Bishop and Brooke get caught in a compromising position by his coach and her father they decide to tell him they are dating. How long can they fool everyone and what happens when feelings start to get involved? Add to that her crazy friend who comes to visit and starts a world of trouble do they have any chance of making this scam a reality?
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Bishop Scott seems to be one lucky man. He has a good friend named Dax. Brooke Perron in one moment seems like a real fashionista and the next she seems a little vulnerable. I liked the fact that she didn’t want to just ride on her father’s coattails but wanted a job that meant something. There are a few secondary characters that I look forward to getting to know better.
It was interesting to watch a relationship develop in reverse. I had no trouble picking up on our couple’s connection. Some just seem to have an instant heat and that’s true with Bishop and Brooke. Our author does a good job in developing her secondary characters as well. They are necessary to the way the scenes flow. You also see how well she goes about doing that because she was able to create a character that I hated – one word, leech. But then as I got to see more of her my one word kept changing.
This is when you know the author’s done a great job with her book. She’s able to create something that affects my feelings so much that I want to express them. In this case, I can’t decide whether I want to give her a swift kick or a good punch to the… But she also had me cringe every time I saw this character’s name. She’s a loud one – she seems to command your attention. I was happy when she disappeared from the scene because I could see her easily taking the story over and changing my feelings about the beginning of the Arizona Vengeance series.
Usually when you have the first book in a series the story can get a little long because the author uses it to build the world that will become the backdrop for the stories that follow. This author doesn’t do that here. No scene seems to drag and nothing seems out of place to what is going on with the characters. This was a great book to the start of a brand new series and I’m very interested to see where the author plans to take me next.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This was a great start to a new series by one of my favorite authors. Sawyer is giving us more drool worthy men with the Arizona Vengeance Hockey Team and let me tell you Bishop is only the start of it all. We get introduced to the new team as each of the players adjust to begin playing for this new expansion hockey team. What I love most about the first book in the series is that you get a peek at all the players and let me tell you there are some that have already caught my eye and I cannot wait to read their stories and see how each of them get their HEAs especially Tacker.
Bishop and Brooke meet in a bar and have an amazing night together, but that’s all it was supposed to be one night. Well, we all know things don’t always go as planned so it really was no surprise when Bishop shows up at the arena the next day and runs in Brooke but the big surprise was just who she was…the coaches daughter, can we say awkward? And to make things a bit more awkward the coach walks in on the two of the pawing at one another…HI DAD 😉 LOL yes this is where things start to get complicated for poor Bishop but I give the man props because he follows Brookes lead and lets her run with it.
And now were engaged..yes you read that right we are now fully in the fake girlfriend/fiancee trope and I loved it. Bishop and Brooke were amazing together. They had great chemistry and really knew how to heat up not only the sheets but various other areas as well. This book has a bit of mystery or angst or hell just one crazy girlfriend that comes for a unscheduled visit and really shakes things up. I really wish the ending was different, maybe an epilogue to wind things up a little better or even set up Erik’s book which is up next but honestly that was the only…I don’t want to say disappointment because that’s to strong of a word for what I’m thinking, maybe let down is better, but regardless this was a very enjoyable read.
If you haven’t read anything by Sawyer Bennett before I recommend starting right here, what better place then at the beginning of a new series that holds a lot of promise. If you like sports romance, the fake fiancee trope, or even just a good contemporary romance that has a lot of sexy times this is the book for you! Happy Reading!!!

I really enjoyed the way Bishop and Brooke’s relationship grew and played out. I loved getting to know a new world and I can’t wait to get all of these stories.
Wonderful start to a new series! I just know I’m going to love getting to know the members of Arizona Vengnece and if Bishop is any indication, this will become everyone’s new favorite series.
Once again Sawyer has created characters with their heads on straight who talk through the situation they find themselves in in a open and honest way, while adding minor characters you care about instantly (even a less than minor character I adored) and a dash of drama that’s the right amount of “oh no” while being a twist you don’t see coming.
Looking forward to more from Sawyer and her expansion hockey team.

I’ve seen Sawyer Bennett’s books around, but never taken the time to read one of her books before so this is a totally new to me author. I’m not sure how that happened, or why, but I’m totally regretting that oversight now. This book was fabulous! If any of her other stories are this interesting, and creative, I’m totally going back and reading them STAT!
Bishop is a pro hockey player, on a new expansion team in the NHL. After moving to Arizona to join his new team, he takes a night out with a few team mates before the season starts, to relax….and meets Brooke. After a fabulous night together, with very few details exchanged, they say goodbye. Only to say hello again the next day, when he reports for training camp to find out that Brooke is his coach’s daughter! One thing leads to another and Brooke introduces Bishop to her father as her fiance! To avoid hard feelings, they decide to play things out and then break up. Sounds like a good idea, right?
This book was a fun look at the life of a pro hockey player, and some of the mess they could possibly get into. There were some fun times, some serious times, and there is even some sad times. But overall, this was a great book, well written, with really fun characters. I loved Bishop, and Brooke, and they worked well together. There were plenty of twists and turns, and some things that I totally did not see coming! I’m looking forward to whatever the Arizona Vengeance has in store for us, as there seems to be quite a few interesting guys on the team, and one in particular that really deserves his own HEA!
It has been a while since I read a hockey book from Sawyer Bennett, and I had almost forgotten how much I enjoy them! Bishop is an excellent start to a new series and I am already looking forward to finding out more about the men of the Arizona Vengeance.
Bishop and Brooke meet in a bar where Brooke has just been stood up by a new co-worker who was supposed to meet her. He steps in with some slick moves to ward off the other guys circling her, and they immediately hit it off. Bishop loves the fact that she has no idea who he is, and he is surprised by how well they seem to mesh but he has no interest in anything beyond a one night stand. He just relocated to Arizona and has to focus on getting to know a whole new NHL team made up of guys who have never played together before. So imagine his surprise when he walks through the offices and spots the woman he hasn’t been able to get out of his head- which is only topped by his surprise when he finds out she is the coach’s daughter… and that she blurts out she and Bishop are engaged when Daddy walks in on them in a close embrace!
Things get a little crazy from there as they try to keep up the ruse so that Coach doesn’t take out his irritation on Bishop on the ice. Brooke just wants her dad to be happy again following the death of her mom, and she is finally seeing glimmers of the man he used to be now that he has a new team to work with and a new purpose in life.
I loved the easy camaraderie and chemistry between Bishop and Brooke as they quickly drift toward building something real even if it all starts as a hoax. She has a great sense of humor and fits his laid back personality well, and they definitely have some hot moments along the way! Throw in a dose of crazy in the form of an ex-coworker who is jealous of Brooke, and I didn’t want to put this book down once I started reading it. Bishop will definitely be on my re-read list, and I am eagerly looking forward to finding out which of Bishop’s teammates gets his turn in the spotlight next!
I love sports romance, hockey in particular. I’ve read loved everyone of Sawyer Bennett’s Carolina Cold Fury series, and her new hockey series following new expansion team the Arizona Vengeance has started off with a fantastic story following Bishop Scott and Brooke Perron. I have been following the real life NHL expansion team the Vegas Golden Knights all year (who doesn’t love the underdog) and I’ve got to say I feel exactly the same way about the Arizona Vengeance, I just hope at the end of the season they manage to secure the Cup, I have a sneaky feeling they may be competing against Carolina Cold Fury. Bishop has moved to Phoenix from New York and the night before his first team meeting he meets Brooke, who as it happens has also relocated recently from New York, in a bar, one thing leads to another and they both end up having the best one night stand of their lives. Of course it turns out that they both work for Arizona Vengeance and when they get caught in Brooke’s office in an embrace, by the hockey coach, who also happens to be Brook’s dad, they end up getting themselves in rather a pickle. A wonderful storyline with some very unexpected twists, a little bit of drama and a lot of super sexy time. Going up there as one of my favourite reads this year, I can’t wait for more. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Sawyer Bennett first introduced us to The Cold Fury men, which that series is a must read. Now she has a new hockey series with the guys from Arizona Vengeance. First up is Bishop, who I think you are going to love.
I always enjoy reading a sports romance, and being Australian, I’m not sure why the hockey athletes have me so intrigued, but they do. I have only watched one game live, but use that vision whenever I read one of these books, and it sure helped with Bishop. I adore a guy that has strong family values, loyalty, good work ethics and humor with sensitivity. Bishop has all the boxes ticked for me. For him to help Brooke out, and try and save face with her dad, was crazy but also endearing. He sure is a keeper.
We mainly talk about the men in these type of books, but it no way takes away from the strong female characters that Ms Bennett writes. Brooke’s caring nature towards her dad might have gotten her in hot water, but it is a quality that shines bright for Bishop. How she holds her own in the business also captivates and titillates him. The way they both fall for each other was a treasure to read, it wasn’t forced or wooden at all. It came about through spending time together and getting to know each other on a deeper level. One of the things I noted and liked was that not all the sex scenes were written in full, some were left to the imagination. But the ones that were there…… *fan myself* …… HOT!
Next up is Erik, who I think is going to feel a lot of pain before he gets his HEA, but the one book I will be hanging out for will be Tacker’s. His will be a sad story and one that will deserve a beautiful HEA.
What do you do when your “one night stand” shows up at your workplace the next day? Oh, & to make it interesting, while you are making your moves, your new boss/coach walks in & it’s her father? Bishop is sure he’s just ruined the rest of his life. His coach isn’t going to like him going after his daughter. Wait, did someone say engaged?? What the heck!
Brooke has moved to Arizona to look after her father since her mother’s death. She didn’t know anyone in town & when a guy tried to pick her up in a bar, she decided why not. When she decides to cut loose, she really does it! When Bishop showed up in her office, she was shocked but not as much as when her dad walked in on them. To protect Bishop from her dad’s fury, Brooke announced they were engaged.
What a hot, sexy story! This is not for those that like their sexual scenes behind closed doors & their language tame. The story moved at a quick pace but not too fast. As a reader, I was able to establish a connection with both Brooke & Bishop. I loved watching the attraction & chemistry develop into something deeper & more meaningful. The interactions between Brooke & her father proved how much affection & concern they held for each other. I liked the friendships developing between Bishop & his teammates. Great story!
Sawyer Bennett lights the lamp with BISHOP, the first book in the Arizona Vengeance series. Bishop Scott is the new co-captain of the NHL’s newest expansion team, the Arizona Vengeance. He unknowingly, has a one-night-stand with the coach’s daughter, Brooke Perron. When Coach Perron catches the two kissing, Brooke blurts out that they are engaged in an effort to save Bishop from her father’s wrath. Now they need to play the part. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.
BISHOP was a fun and entertaining read. Bishop and Brooke are both likable and have great chemistry. They both have big hearts. I like that Brooke is looking out for her dad after her mother’s death. I love the relationship that Bishop has with his mother. The plot was clever and had some interesting and unexpected twists. I enjoy Sawyer Bennett ‘s writing style. She does a great job of getting you inside the characters’ heads and feeling their emotions. I’m looking forward to following this new series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
