USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Meet the Arizona Vengeance, hockey’s hottest new team. They’re burning up the ice—until a one-night-stand with the coach’s daughter freezes one player in his skates. Bishop Scott, co-captain. Not too shabby, huh? It’s all part of my fresh start with the NHL’s latest expansion team, and that means new teammates, a new coach, a new city, and a big new contract. Basically, I … big new contract. Basically, I cannot f***ing wait to show my old squad what they’re missing.
But first, I decide to check out the town before the grind begins. Turns out Arizona chicks are totally smokin’, and I’m fortunate enough to meet one who’s looking for the same thing I am: a night of anonymous, unforgettable, no-strings-attached sex.
Fast forward to the Vengeance arena. It’s the last place I expect to see her again—let alone in her own office. Then bells go off and I finally realize who this girl is: Brooke Perron. My new coach’s daughter. All of a sudden, we’re picking up right where we left off, which means our hands are all over each other. That’s when her dad—my boss—walks in. And before I can get a word out, Brooke’s introducing me as her fiancé.
Sure, she just saved my ass. So why do I get the feeling Brooke’s going to turn my world upside down? Maybe it’s because this fake relationship feels way too real. . . .
Praise for Bishop

Wow now that is how you end a novel, with a simple yet impressive romantic token.
Bishop, is a take no crap from you, hockey player and co-captain.
Brooke is the coach’s daughter, but has a flair for the fashion marketing department.
Neither realizes who the other is until they are lip locked and he catches them. Perfect dear in the headlights moment.
Faking the perfect relationship should be hard, yet these two have little effort to put in. They make the best steamy nights while slowly falling in love but not coming out to say it.
The sarcastic attitude of this authors writing style is what gets me. I love the little snips and smart remarks. It’s smooth flowing storyline, that climax at just the time.
It’s a breeze to read something so intoxicating, that it’s over before you know it.
Bishop by Sawyer Bennett
Bishop is the first book in Bennett’s new Arizona Vengeance series. I was extremely excited about a new series of hockey players as I’d given up on the Cold Fury series after they got repetitive and formulaic. I thought I was in for more of the same when I started reading Bishop but it did get better.
Bishop is a member of the expansion team and on the night before the first day, hits the town and meets the lucky Brooke who is also down for an unforgettable one night stand. The go their separate ways the next day until they meet again in the Vengeance offices, with the coach barging in and witnessing Bishop’s hand on his daughters ass. Brooke thinks the best course of action is to lie to her dad and confesses that she and Bishop are engaged – in order to protect Bishop from her fathers wrath on and off the ice.
This book was….. ok for me. I liked the characters well enough though in all honesty, I liked the side characters more than the H and h, except for Nanette who is in a special league of her own. My problem is that I almost feel like Bennett’s books are becoming a little predictable but I can’t stop myself from wanting to read them. She writes great sports romances (Off series, anyone?!) but the Cold Fury left a bad taste and I’m not sure where I stand with this one. I did like it, but it was just ok. Not fantastic or great. I am definitely looking forward to the books for the other characters we met here, particularly Tacker.

Brooke Perron has found herself in an unusual predicament after leaving a career she loves to move to Arizona to help her dad. She never imagined a one-night stand could be so much more.
Bishop Scott loves playing hockey though being traded to the newest expansion team wasn’t high on his list of choices. Letting off a little steam before training camp begins is looking up now that he can’t take his eyes off the beauty across the bar.
I loved this book. The author continues to hook me and I was eager to read this book. I’m excited to see what’s next in the series.
The hero is over the top swoon-worthy with his patience and his quiet possessiveness. His natural instinct to take care of the heroine is the absolute best. The heroine is easily lovable and I adored the way she wanted to take care of everyone in her life.
I wish I could re-read this book for the first time. I had a hard time putting it down from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book and this author!
The Cold Fury players are all happily off the market, time for a new team to shine: the Arizona Vengeance! While I’m sad to see these guys go, I’m excited for whatever this new team of hockey hunks will bring!
…and BISHOP seriously starts with a bang! Once I started reading, I was trapped, the book unwilling to let me leave before I was finished… And, lord, I adored Bishop – well, after the first chapters where I’ve been somewhat torn about him at least. But I love a good multidimensional hero where I have to peel layer after layer to find the real man laying underneath.
Bishop’s relationship with Brooke starts far from conventional – which guy wouldn’t want to be called the fiancé of a one-night-stand from a year ago? Lol. But no matter how fake their engagement, the attraction and chemistry sizzling between really is not fake. It’s intense and swoony and hawt! Oh, and it’s a couple that actually talks things out like real adults, they’re not brooding over whatever the other said and what they interpret into it that they meant (what a sentence!), they’re actually communicating! Hell yes!!
And Brooke? She’s all kinds of strong and sweet and, well, mature – at least most of the time.
I loved getting glimpses of Bishop’s teammates and am excited for the stories to come. I might have already found my favorite too…
What a great start to Sawyer Bennett’s new Arizona Vengeance series. We are treated to all new cocky, sexy hockey players and the strong women who challenge them. We start with Bishop Scott who has been traded from New York to play for the Arizona Vengeance. He has a hot one night stand with the woman of his dreams, only to find out she works for his new team. When they get caught in a passionate embrace in Brookes office by her dad, who is also Bishops new coach, Brooke does the unthinkable, she tells her dad they are engaged! What could possibly go wrong by deceiving your new boss and team? This was a fun and steamy story that captured my heart. I loved watching Bishop and Brooke’s relationship grow and get stronger. They fit so well together and their and chemistry was explosive. The rest of the team is also so intriguing, that I can’t wait to read more about these hot and sexy players!
4 It’s a New Series with New Hockey Hunks to Love Stars!!
There’s nothing better than starting a new series by one of my favorite authors and this book, Bishop, which is book one in the Arizona Vengeance series starts us off with a bang!
Bishop Sutton has just been transferred out west as part of the NHL expansion and while he’s not too crazy about it, this doesn’t stop him from getting acquainted with the nightlife Phoenix has to offer. This is where this book gets exciting…while they didn’t get each other’s names, Brooke and Bishop are going to be spending some quality time together…her father is his coach and oh yeah, she works for the team!!!
I love that this book moves at a quick pace just like a hockey game. There’s deke’s to the left and the right when things get dicey for these two given that they’re playing out a fake engagement. But the chemistry between Bishop and Brooke is scorching hot and what starts out as something that Brooke feels she needs to do turns into so much more.
Bishop and Brooke are everything I wanted them to be. There’s some drama to keep us on our toes, but underlying it all is a H/h that find everything they never thought they needed or deserved! Brink on Erik Ms. Bennett because I’m ready!!!!
What a great start to the new Arizona Vengeance series! Bishop was an easy and entertaining sports romance that I devoured. The fake fiance trope is always fun, and Bishop and Brooke’s story is no exception. What starts out as a one night stand, snowballs into a fake relationship, until the lines between make believe and reality blur.
Bishop evolves a great deal through the book. He starts as the typical manwhore professional athlete (ugh), but what emerges as he spends more time with Brooke is someone much more sweet and thoughtful. Rest assured though that he still maintains his cocky attitude and is a pure alpha in the bedroom. I really liked Brooke and how loving and career driven she was, but I did wish that she wouldn’t have been so naive when it came to her supposed “friends”. I think what I liked best about the book though was that there was no unnecessary drama between Bishop and Brooke. All the angst was external and allowed Brooke and Bishop to not get caught up in misunderstandings or miscommunications. They were a united front. Yes, the main drama in the book seemed to just drop into the story, but it was still an entertaining and blood boiling addition. I just wish that there would have been more resolution to that part of the story. The book also ends a little abruptly, but since I know that more books are coming in the series, I wasn’t too heartbroken to not see an epilogue.
I’m really excited for all the stories to come from this new cast of characters. There were many personalities introduced in Bishop, from other Vengeance players (seasoned and rookies) to a few people off the ice as well. Honestly, I can’t wait to find out more about Tacker’s heartbreaking past, but I’m also equally intrigued by GM Christian Rutherford, owner Dominik Carlson, and Bishop’s BFF Dax. It looks like it will be a while before I see those stories though (if they do get books) since it appears the next 2 books in the series will feature Erik and Legend. It’s going to be a amazing ride!
*I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
I received a copy via NetGalley and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
Having fallen in love completely and madly with Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury Hockey series, I was over the moon that she was giving us a new hockey series full of book boyfriends to drool over and sassy heroines to love. So I began reading Bishop, the first book in the Arizona Vengeance, with a happy heart and over excitement to see where Sawyer was leading us next. It wasn’t long and she had me so wrapped up in Bishop and Brooke’s fake engagement that I couldn’t put the book down if I tried. These two are funny, touching, and smokin’ hot!
Bishop Scott is a is an amazing hero to start the series off with. He does his fair share of dirty talking and kink to make a reader’s blood pump faster and has enough sweetness to make our hearts melt. I love me a hero who whispers naughtiness and shows his woman who is boss in the bedroom. He might play along with Brooke’s deception to her Dad in public, but he is delicious and commanding when it is sexy time and I wouldn’t want him any other way.
Brooke Perron is a Daddy’s girl and will go to any lengths to keep from disappointing him. Even pretend that the sexy one night stand is more of a permanent thing. Brooke has such a big heart and it comes through in everything that she does, even her lies. Her heart is always in the right place and it makes you fall in love with her all the more. I also enjoyed every moment of spunk and sass that she threw Bishop’s way. I absolutely love a heroine who isn’t a push over.
Sawyer Bennett delivers a yummy start to her new series that contains plenty of new hockey hunks to obsess over. I highly recommend Bishop for a romance packed full of heart and heat with a side of kink. I can never get enough of Sawyer’s books, I am always waiting impatiently for the next one to come out whether it is about some jersey wearing hotties, lawyers with sexy briefs, or a sex club that is sure to fulfill all of your fantasies!
**4.5 Stars**
Oh, I was excited to get a new Hockey series from Sawyer Bennett. I loved Cold Fury and I knew this was going to be one click purchase, no matter what. Bishop did not disappoint. I loved everything about Bishop and Brooke’s story. It started off with a bang with Brooke introducing Bishop as her fiance and it went from there. Seeing these two together and watching their relationship develop from something fake to something real and amazing was so much fun to read. Of course, there is a little drama along the way, but that’s what made the book so entertaining. Everything about Brooke and Bishop’s story was perfect for them. I can’t wait to get more out of this series, I’m hoping we get Tacker’s book, because I think there is an amazing story there.
The book really starts out with a bang (pun intended). Both Bishop and Brooke are new to town and their super-hot, one-night stand turns into an “official” introduction at work the following day. The chemistry between them is immediate and palpable and remains hot throughout the book.
The fake relationship/fake fiancée trope is great if it’s done right but can be painful if it isn’t. For me, there has to be a natural, and believable, progression of the feelings of the hero and heroine and sometimes I feel that it gets rushed in pursuit of a HEA. Not so in this case – I totally bought into the way that Bishop and Brooke went from a hook-up to HEA.
Bishop wasn’t the typical man-whore professional athlete that you often encounter in sports romance. While there is something appealing about a reformed player, it’s nice to have a hero who isn’t constantly having to “move past” his whoreish former ways. Bishop is hot, sweet and swoony – the ultimate book boyfriend.
Brooke is a professional woman who willingly put her personal life and career on hold to support her father. I liked that she wasn’t some neophyte, right out of college, still trying to find her way. She pretty much had her act together and was willing to take a chance on a one-night stand with a hot stranger.
Overall, the book is light on the angst, but there’s still some drama to work through courtesy of a secondary character – just enough to keep it interesting, but not be “over the top”. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Arizona Vengeance. Bennett did a good job in setting up the next book with Erik and Blue’s brief interactions in this book – I love a good enemies to lovers story!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
Sawyer has a hit on her hands…..Bishop and Brooke grab you from the beginning and don’t let you go. From the one night stand to the fake relationship (for her fathers sake) to the real feels and the happily ever after. I couldn’t put it down it was that good.
Bishop is the first book in the Arizona Vengeance series. This is a spin-off to Sawyer’s Cold Fury series but you do not need to read that series to join in the fun. I have read a few of her series’ but not that one. I know, I know. I am hoping to get to it one day. For now, it’s all about this new team and the trouble and sexy times they get into. The synopsis tells a lot so I am going to make this fast. Just like Bishop on the ice.
Bishop and Brooke were for both looking for a little fun. One-night stand kind of fun. What they didn’t expect was the mind-blowing sex marathon that left them wanting more. Too bad they didn’t exchange numbers or even last names. Well, it turns out that a non issue when they see each other at the hockey arena. Where she works. It is also where her father works as Bishop’s Head Coach. The head coach who now thinks they are engaged.
Of course they want a repeat but an engagement? They are so fucked.
Bishop and Brooke’s relationship is complicated but it’s full of heat, wit, hockey, passion, and heart. I love them! They have to learn each other fast and hard. And they have that down, for sure. But seriously, I was hooked from the very beginning until the very end. There are twists. Turns. Up and downs.
Overall…it’s a kicka- start to a new series! It made me laugh, get all kinds of hot and bothered, and felt the passion through the words. I can’t wait for the next book!
Quotes:
“This is f- fate,” I mutter just before I kiss her.
“Stop talking, Brooke, or I’ll occupy that mouth with something that will make it impossible for you to say anything.”
I get a husky laugh and she leans in to nip my bottom lip.
“Tonight, baby, you’re playing sexy librarian and I’m playing the naughty thug hockey player that f- her over the back of the desk, okay?”
Brooke’s face goes beet red, but she nods her agreement at me.
Talk about starting off with a bang! Two strangers new in town meet at a bar, hey what’s wrong with a one night stand to take a little stress off starting a new job in a new city right? Bishop is starting out on a new team, brand new hockey franchise, the Arizona Vengeance, a long way from his last team in New York but luckily he has some friends moving over too. Out at the bar, Bishop sees a really beauty to pick up, he’s a hockey star it should be easy right? Brooke is letting off steam before starting her new job in a new city , she’s a modern woman, why not the ultimate stress reliever-hot sex with a hotter guy. One mind blowing night and ready to start her new life, but she’s not expecting her one night stand to come walking into her office, nor did she believe how good his arms would feel wrapped around her feel so good, well until her father walks in on them. Yep you guessed it her father is none other than Bishop’s new coach, some quick talking, well lying, who are we kidding right? Leads to a fun, hot read! Great supporting characters, can’t wait to read their stories too-what a sexy team the Vengeance is!
Sawyer Bennett’s new Hockey Team Series, Arizona Vengeance, has started with the first player’s story, Bishop Scott. He has just been traded to a new, NHL expansion team, along with members from other pro teams as well. Before their first day of training, Bishop & his roommate, Dax, hit a bar to unwind & get a feel for their new home in Phoenix. He zeros in Brooke, who’s sitting alone, being hit on by someone else. He charms her away from him & they head back to her house for what they both want; a one-night stand with no strings attached.
Bishop shows up the next day to the new stadium where he’ll meet his new teammates, coaches & the general manager of the Arizona Vengeance. While he’s walking through the halls, he glances into the offices that have their doors open. He sees a woman’s legs resting on a credenza with her back to the door while on the phone, so Bishop just stops a moment to admire them. As the chair slowly turns around, Bishop watches, then locks eyes with the last person he expected to see; Brooke. With a look of complete shock on her face at who’s walking towards her, she quickly hangs up & is stunned silent. Bishop, feeling extremely confident especially after the night they just shared, has Brooke weak in the knees as he leans in to kiss her. Unbeknownst to them, Brooke’s father, the Head Coach of the new Hockey Team, walks into talk with Brooke, but finds one of his star players in a very suggestive position with his daughter. He’s furious and demands to know what’s going on between them, as Brooke panics & doesn’t want to jeopardize Bishop’s place on the team, so she blurts out that she’s been seeing Bishop for the past few months and that they’re engaged!! Bishop practically gets whiplash as he stares at Brooke unbelievably as he’s try to absorb what she just said, take in that Brooke is his coaches daughter and that she’s just sucked him into the biggest lie of their lives!!
They both have some serious scrambling and stories to get straight, and that’s just the start of this story. Bishop is a great first book in this series. It also introduces some of the other team members, who (I hope!) could definitely have their own book. I thoroughly enjoyed Bishop and am looking forward to the next Arizona Vengeance story!!
Once again Sawyer Bennett has captured my heart with Bishop!! Im stunned and enamored!! The action on and off the ice is phenomenal! The chemistry between Bishop and Brooke was off the charts!! So many emotions were experienced! Once again my heart is full to capacity. I cant wait to see what Sawyer has in store for the next installment of the Arizona Vengeance series!!
Bishop is the first book in the Arizona Vengeance series, and can be read as a complete standalone.
Bishop was a fun book, it was low angst and high heat. Brooke and Bishop have chemistry from the first few moments. They don’t expect to see each other again, and when they do, their uncomplicated non relationship takes a big turn. I love a fake relationship, and Bishop features a great one. The intensity between the two is addictive.
Overall, I loved watching Brooke and Bishop unwind each other. While their relationship was fake, they couldn’t fake the attraction between them. Their story unfolded at an even pace, and I couldn’t put it down. I would recommend to the reader looking for a sweet hockey player with the heart of a bad boy.
*4.5 Star Review*
Bishop was an okay read for me. There were things I liked and disliked about this story and there were characters I loved and hated. I enjoyed Bishop and his mom, Brooke and her dad and the team players. I hated Nanette. I liked Blue and I wonder if she will make an appearance in another story. I loved how protective Bishop was of Brooke. The beginning of this story seemed to take off, it was a steamy one but then the story seemed to move at a slower pace. I was hoping the flow would pick up but it didn’t and I think that, that was my biggest problem with this story. The ending was also okay but to be honest I was really expecting a bit more than the way it ended; it seemed rushed. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline and the characters and I believe that had the story’s flow picked up just a little and the ending was a little better, this could have been a 5 star read for me.
This is the first book in the Sawyer Bennett new series Arizona Vengeance.
The first book in the series is Bishop Scott and Brooke Perron’s story told in dual POV.
Bishop and another teammate Dax are in a bar the night before they are to report for their first day at their new team, a new expansion team that they were both traded to. They are both just having a few beers hoping for a one night stand. Bishop heads up to the bar when he spots someone that he’d like to get to know. He meets Brooke they talked for a while and then she says you want to get out of here?? Heck yeah he did.
The morning after the one night stand Bishop arrives at the new stadium as he is walking thru the halls he sees Brooke in one of the offices. Being as he had been kicking himself for not getting her number he is overjoyed to see her. He enters her office walking right behind her desk starts making out. Before they can talk to see why they are both there someone walks in on them Bishop’s new head coach and Brooke’s father one in the same. Of course he wants to know why his new player has his arms around his daughter, Brooke panics and spits out that they are engaged!!! Oh yeah this is the start of some interesting maneuvers!! Their plan is to fake it for a few weeks and then break up in a way that leaves Bishop in a good light to her Dad.
Brooke just lost her Mother 7 months ago. She decides to give up a job and boss in New York that she loved to be with her Dad as he has taken it very hard losing his wife. She doesn’t know if she will stay in Arizona or go back to New York once her Dad is settled.
I absolutely loved the relationship Bishop has with his Mom it was honest, with such deep love, with so much respect.
Everything seems to be going smoothly even a little too smooth as the fake relationship seems to be changing to maybe something more. Until a visitor arrives from New York a former co-worker of Brooke’s not someone that she was particularly close with. Nanette is something else she invites herself to stay with Brooke which opens a whole can of worms. To say the least she is neither a good house guest nor person. I will not spoil anything about how this all plays out and the trouble that Nanette causes I will let you discover it yourself.
Arizona Vengeance brings a brand new team with a new cast of characters and stories! I am so looking forward to Erik the next installment in the series.
What happens when the one night stand that you met at a bar happens to be the daughter of your brand new coach? You create a fake engagement!!! This book was simply adorable. The characters of Bishop and Brooke not only had great interactions but they instantly became the perfect couple. The storyline had me hooked from the opening pages and the ending could not have been more romantic. This book should not be missed.
Nobody mixes this sort of blistering heat and heartfelt emotion like Sawyer Bennett does. I mean, I approached this book a little skeptical. I adore Ms. Bennett’s Cold Fury series, so I know she can write the heck out of a hockey book, but this one didn’t grab me right away and I was afraid I was maybe in for all sexy times and no substance.
Wrong.
It starts with heat. And like….homina heat. And then it takes a while for things to, well, heat up emotionally. It’s also the first book in a new series, so there’s a bit of set-up which took a while for me to get on board with. And then, somewhere around the 25% mark, everything came together and I was 100% invested and dying for more.
Honestly, this was a sweet, sexy, heartfelt story. I loved Bishop and Brooke and the sort of wide-eyed, innocent way they fell into a relationship. I mean, they’re dirty dirty, so I’m not talking innocence in that sense, but they both seemed to find their evolving relationship so surprising and almost magical – and it was really hard not to be completely charmed by that.
The set-up for the series to come has me dying for more. There are some fascinating secondary characters in this one, and so despite a sort of skeptical way I approached this book, I am on board for the entire series at this point. I don’t know why I doubted, but I’m a believer now and a big big fan of the newly minted Arizona Vengeance.
