USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Meet the Arizona Vengeance, hockey’s hottest new team. They’re burning up the ice—until a one-night-stand with the coach’s daughter freezes one player in his skates. Bishop Scott, co-captain. Not too shabby, huh? It’s all part of my fresh start with the NHL’s latest expansion team, and that means new teammates, a new coach, a new city, and a big new contract. Basically, I … big new contract. Basically, I cannot f***ing wait to show my old squad what they’re missing.
But first, I decide to check out the town before the grind begins. Turns out Arizona chicks are totally smokin’, and I’m fortunate enough to meet one who’s looking for the same thing I am: a night of anonymous, unforgettable, no-strings-attached sex.
Fast forward to the Vengeance arena. It’s the last place I expect to see her again—let alone in her own office. Then bells go off and I finally realize who this girl is: Brooke Perron. My new coach’s daughter. All of a sudden, we’re picking up right where we left off, which means our hands are all over each other. That’s when her dad—my boss—walks in. And before I can get a word out, Brooke’s introducing me as her fiancé.
Sure, she just saved my ass. So why do I get the feeling Brooke’s going to turn my world upside down? Maybe it’s because this fake relationship feels way too real. . . .
Praise for Bishop

Bishop is definitely book boyfriend material. This whole book was great. Brooke and Bishop were two adults that know where they are emotionally. They make an admittedly dumb decision which is the whole plot premise. Gotta love the fake relationship trope. There is drama, but it’s external to their relationship. The two of them are just so centered. You were rooting for them the whole book. Their whole love was like a flower unfurling. It was gorgeous. This book just made me so happy.
I look forward to reading other books in this series.
There’s a villain in this romance.
I loved it. Can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Bishop meets the most amazing woman. Then to his surprise, she chooses him for the night. What happens when he finds her at his place of work the next morning?
Brooke is in utter shock to see Bishop at her new workplace. When he finds out she is his new coach’s daughter, they both seem blindsided. Brooke has a plan. Let it play out.
The start to this new Arizona Vengeance series, is incredible. True to this author’s history, she knows her romance and she knows her hockey. I love this story and how the characters find one another. The sexy times are smokin’ hot as well. I give this a 4/5 Kitty’s Paws UP!
A new hockey series and a new team of players for sports romance fans to delight in.
I’m not a fan of book that starts with a bang, literally, and such stories can cause me to quickly lose interest. Add to that a new series with unknown characters and it can take me some time to settle in to a story, and that’s exactly what happened with Bishop. I was expecting the usual light hearted banter and hockey themed romance but Bishop is more like Christian Grey with a puck. He is sexually dominant and knows what he wants from his life on and off the ice. This take no prisoners attitude was slightly off putting at the start until I got to know Bishop and Brooke. Slowly but surely these two characters got under my skin – and each other’s – as their crazy plan for the benefit of Brooke’s father becomes a reality as Bishop and Brooke start to develop feelings for one another other as their relationship walls start to crumble.
By half way through, the story had me well and truly hooked and now I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Arizona Vengeance team. From Dax and Erik, your quintessential playboys, to the mysterious and grieving Tacker, I can’t wait to read on in this series.
If you are a fan of the author’s Cold Fury series, you are going to fall in love with this new series. I keep wanting to refer to this as a spin off series, but that is not the case. This is about a new NHL hockey team and the players. This means we get to know the co-captain who’s story is awesome, but we are given hints of the other players with their own stories that I can’t wait to read.
A new team of players must not only learn how to play together which can be a challenge the players and for the coach, so this story has more than just one focus especially when you have a new arena, new city, and new players to deal with.
For Bishop, he finds that his one night stand was going to change things in many ways. He doesn’t think about it or expect it to do, yet it does when he discovers that she is his new coaches’ daughter. Brooke is quick thinking, but what she thought was in the best interest soon spirals out of control.
I really enjoyed getting to know these new players and watching as Bishop and Brooke figure they way around the challenges they are faced with. The author will have you laughing along with some of the events, trying to cool off from some of the steamer scenes and worry about other happenings all leading to being left with a book hangover and having to wait for more from this hockey team.
I am adding to this review that was written over a year ago when the book was first released because I just finished listening to the audio of the book. Four more books are out in this series, which I’ve read each of, and listening to this book has just added so much excitement as the narrators brought this story to life all over again. I enjoyed how the narrators were able to change up their voices for different characters and add the laughs to their tone. They were able to really bring the characters to life and it was so easy to get lost in the storytelling.
THAT WAS BLOODY AMAZING!!
I freaking loved the Cold Fury series and I could not wait to read Bishop.
Bishop just joined the Arizona Vengeance and after a hot one night stand , he got more than what he bargained for…
The chemistry between Bishop and Brooke is sizzling and I was rooting for them from the very start.
Once again, Sawyer Bennett wrote a story that will have you hooked with some twists!
Will Bishop’s one night stand with the coach’s daughter compromise his future in the team?
A promising start for what I am sure will be an incredible series.
The beginning of a great new hockey series! Can’t wait for the next book.
What’s the saying? “It’s a small world?” Yes, it is more than a ride at Disney!!! the saying came first. Two people meet in a bar and have a one night stand, or so they think. They next day they stumble upon each other and that is when this book get really interesting. Acquaintances become friends. Friends get some benefits. Friends become lovers and from there they become each other’s everything. Their journey is entertaining, passionate and, at times, funny.
When the last book of the Cold Fury series came out back in May, I did a re-read of the entire series because I loved the books so much and Sawyer Bennett is one of those authors I can turn to for a guaranteed good read just about every time. So, my point lol, when Bishop came up for review I was all hockey’d out. I wasn’t going to read it until Erik’s book came out. Just giving myself some down time between the trope. Well, that thought lasted all but a couple days LOL because again, this author is a sure bet!
You guys …. I had a ridiculous smile on my face the entire time I read this story. I loved Brooke and Bishop so damn much. The plot of this story is not exactly original, but the character development that the author puts into both Brooke and Bishop really does make it fresh. There are also some very unique and unexpected twists here and there that keep you captivated till the end. This book wasn’t just about a romance journey ……
I cannot wait for this series to take off just like Cold Fury did. I am looking forward to having more and more guaranteed great reads on my kindle!
REVIEW: 4 STARS
“No matter what led us to this moment, right now I’m yours…”
.
HONESTY FIRST: Well, if you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know I am definitely no lover of fake fiancé/fiancée/marriage/relationship books. I honestly hate them. They are all dumb to me and I literally roll my eyes every time I come across one. They never live up to the hype or the reason that they are faking it.
.
~ “You need to for the sake of the company.”
~ “You need to for status.”
~ “You need to produce proper heirs.”
~ “You need to join forces with the enemy to take them down.”
.
Blah, blah, blah. Just NO. You will get a DNF out of me quicker than any other trope if it’s a hidden twist in the book, which is why I avoid them if I can. I loathe them. I am of the kind that speaks her mind, so you aren’t talking me into a fake relationship for any reasons I don’t wanna accept – first of all, and basically – true love is not something you mess with. Period. So, why did I read this one? Well, for one, I love Sawyer Bennett and read everything she puts out, and two, I agreed to read it long before I ever knew the synopsis, so that had me biting my nails a bit. And I always stand behind my recommendations, or review them accordingly…..so I took one for the team.
.
So, dammit. Leave it to Sawyer Bennett to make me read through this trope and actually enjoy it. Ok? Ugh. Now, before I try to tell you why YOU should read it, let me tell you this much: this one had a slight twist to it that made it semi-conceivable as to why they would carry on this charade. I will admit that it got a little far fetched for me at one point and I was side-eyeing it a bit, but the characters and their personalities made me enjoy it and I was able to finish it with a smile on my face. Was it predictable? Well, sure. It was pretty much a guarantee of what was going to happen, but I loved seeing who it happened to first and it just flowed very smoothly.
.
If I am not a huge fan of this genre (who am I kidding), why and how could I possibly give this 4 stars? This one had a few things that really worked for it. It’s not just that it’s SB and I love her, because I will always be honest in my reviews no matter how much I love the author. If the book doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t work and I will let you know. Again, I stand behind everything I post about on my blog. But the characters….the personalities. Let me explain that one. Bishop thought he was going to get a one night stand. Bishop thought he was going to walk away. Bishop definitely lives up to hockey players’ playboy ways. But Bishop has a softer side he doesn’t show anyone. I loved Bishop.
.
“In this moment. . . right now. . . not sorry at all for how this has all gone down.”
.
Not always does SB write an alpha badass. She usually writes a down to earth man with a cocky, yet dorky side to them. It makes them more endearing. Relatable. Real. But the insecurities, the wondering who is really feeling what, the emotions that were inevitably bound to come….I liked it. It worked for me. Yes, at first glance, he wasn’t exactly boyfriend material. He sounded shallow, cocky….so sure of himself that he came across as somewhat of a douche. But that was SB setting the stage. For the beginning of what has clearly started out as a worthy series. Seriously, I love the way she can develop and start a new world and give us a glimpse into all the characters that will be comprising the stories to follow, yet never detract from the main couple and their story at hand.
.
Shockingly enough, I really did enjoy this one. In the end, this book gave me the smiles. I even giggled a few times out loud because of what was said/done. It was enjoyable overall, so I’m glad I read it. Bishop has a verrrry dirty mouth, and he’s not afraid to use it; Brooke sure enjoyed it. She was somewhat of a pushover, always trying to make sure others were ok, but that also lent a sort of softer side to her that I wanted to hug. Her heart was bigger than her brain sometimes, but it was always in the right spot. I really enjoyed this one. The one thing that left me hanging was that the end of the book felt too short. Too quick. I would have loved to have seen a little more from it, but I can walk away knowing I will see them in the books to follow, so I am very definitely looking forward to this series and the stories to come…especially Tacker’s.
.
I’m pretty sure I don’t know how to write a short review at this point. Sorry!!

Great start to a new series by Sawyer Bennett. If you like her Cold Fury Hockey series you will love this book. If you haven’t tried her books before, then this is a great place to start. I really enjoyed the teammates and supporting characters introduced here and will look forward to the next installment.
A new NFL hockey series with Sawyer Bennett!!! Yay, more hockey players in a new setting! This book was lighthearted and such a lovely read. A little bit of angst, mostly due to a deception, but lots of good times.
Bishop James has just been transferred to the new Arizona Vengeance team. He wasn’t too enthused with the move, he liked New York a lot, but the team was new, the facilities luxurious and new, so the deal wasn’t too bad. On his first night, he meets Brooke at a bar and they have what he thinks is a one-night stand. Brooke herself is dealing with issues and needed some distraction. They were dynamite in bed and once was not enough. However, they did not exchange phone numbers, so she was lost to him. When he sees her next day at the new stadium offices, he goes direct to second base with her and they’re caught in the middle of making out by the new coach, Mr. Perron.
Brooke’s solution? Hi Daddy, this is my fiancée. And thus starts a story of deceiving her daddy who is his coach and having to live a deceitful life. The good thing? They got on splendidly and very soon what felt fake started to feel real.
I loved both characters and the story. Brooke was such a generous and warmhearted girl. She was living her dream job in New York but when she saw her father floundering after the death of her mother, she left that life behind and moved to Phoenix to help her dad get out of his depression. She didn’t like her job but she was committed to her father. Bishop, who has a great mother, who was both father and mother to him, appreciated her efforts and cooperated in the deception. They were both forthright and considerate with each other. Truly, they felt like a couple from the get-go.
This book is full of warm moments, yummy sexy times, excellent writing as I’m always expecting from this brilliant author, and a great story with great pace. Never a dull moment, never an unnecessary paragraph. The plot moves forward at a great clip and we meet the other team members, who I am looking forward to meet when their book arrives, especially Tacker Hall . There’s a psycho girlfriend who makes the story interesting and lively. Totally recommend!
I loved it! Great series. Love her writing.
I loved this book. According to my kindle, I had 58 minutes left in the book. I didn’t pick it up for 3 days because I didn’t want it to end!!!!
I thought this was a good read! The writing flowed well, and I thought the characters were developed nicely. Bishop and Brooke had great chemistry, and I thought they were good together. I wished Brooke would have had a little more backbone. She let Nannette walk all over her, and Bishop had to be the one to do anything about her. The only thing I would have liked would have been an epilogue. I know this is going to be a series, but I still would have liked a little bit of a longer look into their future. This was a first for me from this author, but it won’t be my last.
BISHOP is the first book in a new hockey series, Arizona Vengeance. I think it’s considered a spin-off but don’t be shy about diving into this one, it can stand alone!
Brooke has just moved to Arizona from New York to be closer to her father who just happens to be the head coach of the new expansion hockey team: The Vengeance. She meets Bishop at a bar the night before training starts. They have a spectacular one night stand. The problem? Bishop plays for her father and when they’re caught in an embarrassing situation the next day by Brooke’s father, things get a little…complicated! Can two strangers pull off a fake engagement in order to save face with the Coach?
Ok…so here’s my honest opinion. I thought Brooke and Bishop’s reasons for faking an engagement were kinda dumb. Seriously, I was reading the story and thinking: I love you Ms. Bennett but I’m really not sure about this!! But you know what? Shame on me for doubting the “Wonderful Wizard of Words” (aka Sawyer Bennett) because as I delved into the book and Brooke and Bishop’s perspectives blossomed, I completely fell in love with these characters AND the story! Everything just meshed together and I ended up reading a sexy, feel good tale where the hero was genuinely a good guy, tempting as hell and exactly what Brooke needed.
This isn’t a drama filled book but it was definitely a winner for me! Told from dual POVs with a sweet ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Sawyer Bennett is back with a new hockey series ‘Arizona Vengeance’. ‘Bishop’ is the first book of the series. Arizona Vengeance is NHL’s newest expansion team. Being an expansion team allows them to pick one player from every team in the NHL and if the player is not protected by their teams, they are up for grabs. That is how this awesome characters came together. Bishop Scott relocated from New York to Phoenix. He is still in transition to adapt new city and new team. He decides to let loose and relax on his last day before his training starts and that is how he finds Brooke and spend an amazing night with her. What he didn’t except is to run into her at the arena the next day. Brooke is smart, beautiful, and down to earth. Before relocating Phoenix to be with her dad, she had an amazing job in merchandising in NY. Seeing the man she spend an amazing night with standing at her office door is shocking but soon both learns the reason in a compromising way. Brooke’s father is the head coach of Arizona Vengeance and when Brooke and Bishop get caught by Coach Perron in an intimate position, Brooke panics and announces their engagement to her father. Even though, Brooke’s lie wasn’t coming from bad intentions, Bishop gets pissed off. After both calms down they come up with a plan and an expiration date for their fake engagement. With the time they are spending together to make people believe their fake engagement, the lines between make believe and reality gets blurry and they realize that their relationship is anything but fake. More about what happen is for you to find out but what I can say is when you are done you will be looking forward to the next book in the series. Side characters were amazing. I cannot wait to read more about Erik Dalhbeck, Legend Bay, Tacker Hall, Dax Monahan and last but not least Blue.
‘Bishop’ is very light, fast read, free from too much drama. It is a sweet, sexy and heartwarming story. One thing that bothers me was the ending. It felt like there was more to the story but it abruptly stopped. I know there will be more books in the series but I wish there was an epilogue. Since I mentioned upcoming books in the series ‘Erik’ and ‘Legend’ is next in line. However, I am really looking forward to read Tacker and Dax’s stories. Also, I am definitely hoping for crossover stories between ‘Cold Fury’ and ‘ Arizona Vengeance’ series.
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Yes.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
Great Book!
