While at first it seems clear who is the murderer. But Izzy has doubts as with her natural curiosity she can’t help but to try and solve the case.
This a great cozy mystery. The characters are interesting, a little quirky and full of personality. The mystery was complex, challenging and full of great twist, surprising turns and keeps you interested. It is well written and I look. Forward to the next instalment.
This is the second cozy in the series and I enjoyed it as much as the first. Loved the characters and the story-line. It was not easy to guess who the murderer was! I cannot wait for the next in the series.

I am loving this series. This book was a fun and fast read and really kept me entertained. I’m also craving boozy pie. I would love if someone opened a cafe like that where I live! Lol!

Izzy and Sprinkles are on another case when a celebration turns deadly for the birthday boy, who turned 100. Wow! Who would want to kill someone who just turned 100?! Well, there are a few suspects, like his gold-digging girlfriend or maybe his son who was never appreciated. Or could there be someone else? Join Izzy and Sprinkles as they try to keep a killer from getting away with murder. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book from Booksprout.
This cozy mystery has an interesting angle to it. The story is unabashedly all about the gossip; getting the best, the freshest and spreading it. I was raised not to gossip and this really is too much! If it doesn’t bother you, then the story is not half bad. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
This is the third book I’ve read in this series and I’ve enjoyed them all, however Izzy was a bit much this time around. I understand she was trying to solve a murder, but she was borderline rude, childish and irritating. The supporting characters ( Molly, Theo and Sprinkles ) were wonderful as usual. This book had a lot of twists and turns and I wish there were more scenes with Mitch and Izzy’s grandmother. Btw, I love how Izzy’s grandmother and Sprinkles have Spa days together. It’s hilarious.

When the Birthday Boy is 100, not a big surprise that he wants to give a speech.
Unfortunately, he was killed before he could start.
What information about whom would someone want so badly to prevent from being heard?
Would more than one party be hurt or offended?
A party takes a deadly turn, followed by a brawl at a funeral, and other unseemly and unexpected mayhem.

A big birthday bash for the oldest citizen of Sunshine Springs, fireworks and all. At the end, another loud boom only not from the fireworks. Who would shoot the guest of honor at his own birthday party? Everyone thinks they know who did it but can it really be that simple? A great story line with the same great characters as the first book in the series, plenty of twists to keep you interested and great work by the author! I am definitely hooked on this series, a great book to curl up on the porch swing and spend the day reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nearly all of Sunshine Springs has turned out for Edgar’s 100th birthday. Izzy is there supplying boozy and non-alcoholic pies for the celebration. Edgar’s plan for a big speech after the fireworks doesn’t transpire because, while the sky is alight, somebody shoots Edgar. Who in the crowd would have wanted Edgar dead? Initial thoughts turn to Edgar’s new thirtysomething girlfriend, but Izzy doesn’t think that’s quite right, so she and Sprinkles decide to investigate.
If you read the previous book in the series about fictitious Sunshine Springs located not far from San Francisco, then you know about Izzy, who owns Drunken Pie Cafe, and her Dalmatian, Sprinkles. Izzy is a would-be amateur sleuth who is now looking into a second untimely death. Like any good cozy, we have a small town with quirky characters and a plot that twists and turns, with a few red herrings thrown in. The author’s writing style is very easy to read, and Izzy is a smart woman who’s fun to watch as she tries to unravel the clues.
Oh, and I totally want to try the apple bourbon pie or the lemon vodka pie!
If you like cozy mysteries with a slight culinary bent and an intelligent heroine, you might enjoy this book and the series.
Most of Sunshine Springs is attending Edgar Bates’ 100th Birthday Bash. Izzy’s catering the dessert table leads to another enjoyable mystery. Birthday Pie Burial has the twists and characters which are becoming a favorite for me. I recommend this novel and the Drunken Pie Cafe Mystery Series.

The town is celebrating the hundredth birthday of Sunshine Springs’ oldest citizen and Isabelle “Izzy” James is serving up her fabulous boozy pies. But the celebration does not end well when the guest of honor is shot dead. Who could have done it? Was it his much younger gold digger girlfriend Tabitha? Or his never appreciated son Peter? And what is townie Belinda’s involvement in all of this mess?
Izzy sticks her nose in where Mitch would prefer she didn’t, but she has her trusty Dalmatian Sprinkles by her side, so what could go wrong? This is the perfect cozy mystery filled with quirky characters, unexpected twists and turns, madcap adventures, and a mystery to solve.
