I found this to be a great read. There was a depth to the characters I wasn’t expecting and I found their interactions to reflect their pasts which I don’t often find in novels like this. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and read it in a single afternoon. The settings were highly detailed, especially that of the Scottish castle, truly made me feel as if I was standing in those ancient walls along with the characters. The emotional conflict between the characters was high and intense and I was rooting for them to work out their differences and have their happily ever after, it made me feel all mushy and sappy after reading it. Definitely a really good book and I would highly recommend it.
I loved this story, the connection between Layla and Logan was sensual from the start, this is a marriage of convenience so Logan can save his family’s Scottish estate and Layla is the perfect person to be his wife on paper seeing as how she loves Bellbrae as much as Logan.
Logan McLaughlin is a successful businessman and with the passing of his grandfather the Scottish Highland estate has been left to him on the condition that he marry, this is hard for Logan he has been engaged before and lost his fiancé and he feels that he is not capable of caring for anyone. Maybe Layla will be the answer to his problem of keeping his beloved estate.
Layla has had a terrible childhood and moved to Bellbrae to live with her great aunt who is the housekeeper there after the death of her parents in an horrific car accident that has left her scarred, Layla has started her own business and is resigned to the fact that she will not marry even if romance is the one thing she wants and she has always had a crush on Logan. So when he asks her to be his wife on paper to save the estate, she accepts hoping to keep her heart intact.
MS Milburne has penned a story that had me turning the pages I loved both Logan and Layla both were scarred from their pasts, Layla is such a beautiful caring person and Logan was very hard on himself but Layla wormed her way in and the chemistry between them could not be ignored, another keeper MS Milburne, this is one that I highly recommend.
4 1/2 STARS!
With the next book in the Conveniently Wed series, Melanie Milburne delights her readers with a modern day opposites attract story with BILLIONAIRE’S WIFE ON PAPER. I was quickly entrenched into Logan’s family drama and enjoyed watching his relationship with Layla unfold.
Layla was the quintessential hired help turned marriage of convenience, but she brought so much more to the story than that. She was beneficial in giving Logan the idea of how to save his family ancestry, never expecting him to call on her to be the convenient bride he needs. Once the plot began to unravel, we got to see the story behind her life and see what motivated her.
Logan believed his history with love in the past meant he could never trust himself to try again, so even though feelings started to develop quickly with Layla, he attempted to hold her at arms length. It was a lot of fun watching them fall!
I recommend this story to anyone looking for a marriage of convenience story line with tons of heart weaved in.
