Weston Carver, the CEO of Carver International and the oldest of the three siblings, is not only devoted to his family’s corporation but also Empower House, a women’s shelter in NYC, in honor of his sister. He hires Courtney, a very passionate social worker, to be the director of a group of shelters. Both Weston and Courtney have deep, hidden secrets full of human flaws and brutal betrayals that seem insurmountable. As they get to know one another, Lyz Kelley paints tender, sensual scenes of love, while showing the reader all of their emotional insecurities and vulnerabilities.
This author is not afraid to tackle the big issues out there today and what’s bigger than homelessness, sexual abuse and sex trafficking? Anyone can become a victim, but how would we deal with it? This book will make you “feel.”. Lyz skillfully guides her readers through these very difficult issues in a way that is realistic, loving, hopeful and motivational. The positive relationships in the story make this reader believe in the very best humanity has to offer. I heartily recommend this inspirational book and eagerly look forward to the next.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. It is good to read stories where the billionaire has a heart of gold and helps out people in need. It was how Weston kept a secret and was a loner not wanting to let people in until he meets Courtney. They worked well together with both having issues to work through.
*New to me author
I enjoyed this story. Wes and Courtney are wonderfully written characters. For my first time reading Lyz, I am happy this is the first book that I read. Billionaire’s Secret is not your typical billionaire story. Wes is a good man; he wants true love and is searching for it in the background. But he also is watchful of people that will take advantage of the ones he loves. When Wes decides to take over the none-profit, his sister was in charge of Wes doesn’t want anyone to know. But he does need someone that will take charge of it and make sure it runs it properly.
Courtney is a go-getter and is need of someone to help her women shelter. When a friend helps her find someone, it happens to be Wes. But Courtney is very wary of men because of her past. Will Wes be able to get Courtney to work with him and get past her defenses?
This story does deal with some issues about women and sexual issues. But I think Lyz did a great job of writing about it and having the man character not push the issue and stepping back from it and letting the female character take charge.
LOVED!! I am so in love with Wes! He is not like other billionaires that I’ve read about before – but, he’s perfect! Courtney and Weston’s story was everything I didn’t know I wanted it to be! I fell in love with both of them instantly. I am new to Lyz Kelley, but I already adore her! FIVE STARS!!
This was a very interesting book, and had me hooked from first page.
I can honestly say I didn’t like Courtney, I just didn’t like how she treated Weston. But she redeemed herself once we learnt more about her.
I loved Weston as he is serious, dedicated and honest to a fault.
I really enjoyed watching their love grow.
I highly recommend this book
This was my first Lyz Kelley read and I wasn’t disappointed. Wes and Courtney’s story is a journey to not only finding love with each other but also finding themselves. This story dealt with several heavy topics that could be triggering to some readers. I really enjoyed the progression this story but most of all how much Courtney grew and found strength in herself. I can’t wait to read more of Ms. Kelley’s stories.
Book one in the secrets series and wow. What a journey I was taken on. Weston Carver is the CEO of a medical equipment supplier but he holds himself back with a secret that very few know. As the new owner of a shelter for women it’s his job to fix the problem and find the right person to turn its prospects around. Courtney knows pain and doesn’t trust men if at all. She and Weston form a special bond until the time something happens and she doesn’t trust him. Someone outside is making waves for the men of Carver international and they want to know who. With the help of the FBI they find out who but will Weston and Courtney be able to trust each other???? With their secrets will they let themselves love???? A great read with some emotional scenes within the book especially with Courtney. My heart broke for Weston and his twin.
I LOVED this beautiful book. I was captivated by the growing sweet heat romance of Wes and Courtney. It was endearing, heartbreaking and heartwarming. The touching storyline just kept evolving into something that seemed so much more–more gut-wrenching, more visceral, more all-encompassing than I ever could have imagined. It was an absolutely phenomenal read.
Lyz is an automatic buy for me. This book especially should not be missed.
Weston Carver is not your average billionaire. He loves helping those less fortunate which helps him cross the path of Courtney Kramer. Both have suffered through some of life’s ups and downs but are working together to not only help themselves, but help others overcome some of those tragedies. The stories will reel you in and make you feel what the characters are going through. This love story is a riveting read!
This book touched a deep chord within me as in a small way I have been involved with shelters and seen the devastation in the lives of women and children from abusive relationships. Weston Carver has the money and the power to conquer any obstacle in his life. He also has enemies and when they discover Carver’s soft underbelly, they go for the kill. Courtney has been on the receiving end of the worst kind of abuse and was denied the justice she deeply needed. Together they make an interesting team. Carver needs to be loved and trusted unconditionally. On the other hand, Courtney has to jump emotional hoops in order to let go and dig deep inside to show her love. Her triggers and harsh reality have frozen her feelings and it takes almost losing the most important person in her life for her to finally allow herself to reach out and take what is being offered to her. This book is painful, emotional and suspenseful, but it does come to a successful and happy conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Weston and Courtney have hearts bigger than any others. The wounds and scars they’ve received from their pasts have pushed them to give of themselves to the people around them. Those same scars have also caused them to hide their true selves from all but a very select trusted few individuals. It killed me to watch these two thinking the worst of each other when they jumped to conclusions and reacted from those wounded places. I loved seeing them both learn to check those reactions, to trust one another with their truths, and come together in the end. There’s still a bunch of the extended friends and family I want to read more about. It also appears that I was incorrect. You don’t have to read this book before being able to appreciate Doctor’s Secret. The events that play such an important part of that book have already happened before this book starts and they aren’t covered here in any depth.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Billionaire’s Secret by Lyz Kelley is the story of Courtney Kramer and Weston Carver.
Weston is the CEO for the family business, Carver International but has inherited a Non Profit Organization. The Organization helps women get back on their feet deal with being a victim of abuse. It is dear to his heart and he wants someone trustworthy to help run it. Courtney is a social worker who is trying to keep a women’s shelter open but needs financial backer for it. Weston and Courtney meet which leads to them wanting something from each to meet their goals. This is a slow burn story line if felt but one that kept me turning the pages.
I am loving getting the chance to read new to me authors. This year alone I have come to discover so many amazing authors, and Lyz Kelley is among the best of them.
Billionaire’s Secret wasn’t what I was expecting. He’s a man that wants that true love, that longs for it and when I think of Billionaire I think of arrogant (lol) but the Wes wasn’t like that. He was a man with money.. Lots of money… But he did good with it. He uses is fortunes to make a difference. He inherits a non profit organization that helps women that are victim of abuse, and when he crosses paths with a social worker called Courtney who was also a victim of abuse and wanted to make a difference too and help those that have been through similar, they start to form a bond as they work together, and over time they become closer, getting to know each other on deeper levels… and as they do, I could read that they were falling for each other. It was kind of a slow burn… But will Courtney be able to move forward from her trauma, or will it have lasting effects on her future with Wes? Do they have a future?
It was extremely well written, the finer details on point and captivated me from the very beginning. It’s a story that will stay with me for some time.
This book hit so many hard truths and trauma myself that I have been through. So to say this book was an emotional read for me, well yeah that would be correct. It was one hell of a ride and it kept my attention from page one. I think the author’s approach this subject was thought through perfectly and she ran with this storyline in the best way she could… I don’t know exactly the right words but I do know she did it justice. She didn’t just wing it and it’s something I respect. These sorts of plots can be hard for someone with that kind of history but when written right, and come at with the right approach it then it can be a read they can handle. Some may not be able to, and I know with some I struggle, but this wasn’t one. I enjoyed this and I take my hat off to the author. She has just earned herself a new auto one-click fan!
5 Stars!
Healing Buried Emotions…..
This was not your usual Billionaire Romance story. We have two main characters who have both experienced tragic events in their lives. This is a common thread between them that is beautifully written by Lyz Kelley.
Weston Carver is CEO of his family owned business Carver International. But his heart belongs to Empower House a non-profit organization that assists abused women in getting a new lease on life. He does not do this for the public accolades as no one knows he runs this operation behind the scenes. Courtney Kramer has worked tirelessly to keep one of the shelters afloat. But she is fighting a losing battle financially. Weston is everything Courtney cannot tolerate. For all outside appearances he seems indifferent and standoffish. But Courtney finds out another side to him that shoots her opinion of him down in flames.
This story is powerful and emotional as it touches on the real struggle that abused women experience. Watching this couple slowly realize the deep commitment they both share was stirring and heartfelt. A touching love story that unfolds slowly and definitely captivates you from the very beginning.
This is the gripping and heart wrenching story of two battered souls searching for their right to happiness. Weston is the oldest of four siblings and like any first born takes his responsibility for his brother and sisters very seriously. He is so serious that he even takes on guilt that isn’t his to bear.
Courtney is the director of a successful women’s shelter and is a survivor of abuse herself, although she isn’t completely healed she definitely knows what other abused women need. Unfortunately, the owner of Courtney’s building has refused to renew her lease and Courtney does not have the money nor credit to buy the building. Enter Weston, a billionaire and owner of Empower House his not so successful women’s shelter that he inherited.
Weston makes a deal with Courtney that if she will become the new director of Empower then he will see that she gets to keep her building. Along the way, they begin to learn each other’s secret hurts and start to draw closer together. Then a mysterious person(s) accuse Weston and his brother, Liam separately of sexually abusing women and Courtney starts questioning her relationship with Weston.
I loved this book and I learned a lot about abused women and those who eventually learn to love them. This book pulled at my heartstrings with not only Weston and Courtney’s stories, but those of Weston’s sisters and Angel, a young lady he rescues.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
