Ruby:My name is Ruby Kent, and I’m homeless, a virgin, and terrified when I’m kidnapped by human traffickers and put up for sale on the auction block. I’m for sale to the highest bidder, and I have no idea what my future will be, but I know it’s not going to be good. I’m waiting for a chance to escape, and that opportunity finally comes after I’m bought and paid for. Unfortunately, I have no idea …
Unfortunately, I have no idea that Jett Lawson has been sent to rescue me, not hurt me, and even after we’re both injured during my desperate attempt to run away, he still wants to take care of me.
Problem is, I have no idea how to trust anyone, or let anybody help me. I’ve always been alone. It’s safer that way.
Jett Lawson is a mystery to me, an enigma that just gets more complicated with every nice thing he does for me.
Is it possible for a woman like me to find happiness with a billionaire?
Probably not, but the more I get to know Jett, the harder is is to resist the lure of having a safe place to be, and a man like no other.
Jett is scarred just like me, but his wounds are all on the outside.
Mine are carved all over my soul.
Can two wounded people help each other heal, or will our profound differences tear us apart?

He instantly wants to protect and care for this woman in a fierce and primal way. For the first time since his accident he has feels a resounding sense if self worth and Ruby is the reason why. He refuses to let her get away no matter what!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy if this book.
Jett and Ruby’s story was so good, two broken people by different life situations learned to find trust and love for each other, I just loved their story and out of the series I think their story is my second favorite!
ruby was the perfect half for Jett who didn’t see himself as being worthy. I love this entire series from Simon at the beginning to the next one…bring it on.
Touching, emotional and captivating. This is a story you can not put down because you need to have these two characters to heal their scars and find a path forward. Jett and Ruby are strong but broken characters that are drawn to each other in a kindred way that leads to a beautiful romance.
I didn’t actually finish the book. It just seemed too false. Too contrived. Characters were revealing their secrets way too early in the relationship. Other readers might not mind that, which is why I gave it 3 Stars. Overall, the writing was good and the plot was a good vehicle for steamy scenes. I just have way too many books in my TBR to spend hours on a book I’m not all that into.
Been waiting on more just like this one. Love this series and author’s writing
I love rescue stories! This was so warm and romantic. I just goes to show an erotic romance doesn’t need to have them hit the sheets in the first couple of chapters. I loved the character Jett and I’m intrigued to see what happens with his brother in the next book. I’m so glad the author didn’t make the book so alarming that I hated reading it. And I’m even more grateful she didn’t use that tired cliche ending of having the heroine get knocked up at the end like that was a good thing. So not romantic! I lived the open dialogs the characters had. I liked the dual point of view and I liked that happy ending. Thanks Ms. Scott!
I have loved The Billionaires Obsession series ever since I read the very first book. This one is no exception. If you’ve read the series, but haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, than you definitely must one click it. Jett and Ruby each have their own worries of their pasts to get through. Great job J.S. Scott.
Anything J.S. Scott writes is well worth the cost and time. All books are beautifully written and the stories fun, characters are fun and believable. Make you wish you had a man love you like they love their women.
This book picks up after Dani was rescued from the Human Traffickers. She leaves Jett, her brother, to rescue one of the women that she had gotten to know, Ruby. Ruby has been living on the street for almost 6 years. Very smart and obviously very resourceful. This book allows you to follow two very damaged people through the healing process.
Jett is still recovering from an accident he had while participating in a rescue as part of the PRO team that was established by his best friend, Marcus Colter. Yes, that Marcus who has rescued Dani and will become her husband.
I love how JS brings these wonderful characters together and makes you care so deeply about them. I need stories on the rest of the Lawson Clan. I need to know that they are going to be alright.
Ruby and Jett make you believe that fairy tales do come true for good people. Both have been hurt beyond measure and you get to see how their friendship heals them both.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
This series is staring to become predictable.
What I enjoy about this author is that she writes about issues of the day. But there is always a happy ending. We all need happy endings!!!
Omg. Ok so I have read lots of book and this is by far one of the best. I was up till almost 4 in the morning because I couldn’t stop once I started. This story was intense and I loved every bit of it..
Jett is so humble and kind. He Is the type of man every girl dreams of.. He has scars that causes self esteem issues with his looks but he is also totally confident about what he does. Will Jett be able to deal with his self esteem issues or will it destroy what he can have..
Ruby is so full of love but she has a hard time trusting. She once had dreams but she gave up the Cinderella dream. Will her past get in her way.
Jett and Ruby are 2 of the same but in defferant ways. This book is a must read. I loved everything about it, even when I couldn’t stop the tears. Author Js Scott is a amazing author and I’m so glad i pick up one of her book and we addicted from the first page. Thank u so much for a awesome getaway.. That’s what it is to me to read this book a getaway from my own reality. U are a fabulous author. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Jett & Ruby Are Each Lost In Self-Doubt When Danica Brings Them Together. Their Story Is One Of Healing The Emotional Wounds That Plague Them Both.
This is the twelfth book in The Billionaire’s Obsession series. Each book in the series reads perfectly as a standalone. Books one through five are centered around Tampa, Florida. Book six is a bridge between The Sinclairs series and this series, but it also shifts the series to Colorado. The series continues in Colorado with the Colter family, whose five children comprise books seven through eleven. In books ten and eleven, the Colter twins marry the Lawson sisters. Beginning here, the series continues on in Seattle with the three Lawson brothers. This is Jett Lawson and Ruby Kent’s story. Jett is Marcus Colter’s best friend, and his story is hinted at in book ten, Marcus’s story. Ruby is introduced there as well as Danica befriends and tries to save her.
The Lawson kids, like their friends the Colters, are well-known for their good looks, genius IQ’s, and billionaire status. Their parents were killed about eight years ago in an accident. That tragedy triggered some changes for the family. While they all inherited enough to be independently wealthy, each was committed to work. None wanted to hold onto the family home in Colorado, finding it too emotional, so they all left Colorado. Harper and Danica, the youngest, traveled extensively for work and didn’t have much of a home to speak of. The brothers, however, took the opportunity to move their Father’s up-and-coming business, Lawson Technologies, to Seattle – a more appropriate location for their business – where it shot to success. Each brother heads his own division within the company, but they are partners of the entirety. Harper and Danica have recently married the Colter twins and have settled down in Rocky Springs, Colorado.
Blake Colter and Harper Lawson’s story in Billionaire Unknown, book ten, is a tender and emotional story about second chances in love and life after confusion tears them apart for twelve years.
In Billionaire Unveiled, book eleven, Marcus Colter and Danica Lawson finally find love after years of animosity as they crisscrossed repeatedly overseas.
In this book:
This book opens up roughly the same time that Marcus and Danica’s story takes place in Billionaire Unveiled. Danica had called her brother Jett down to Miami to assist with saving her new friend Ruby from human trafficking. Both stories take place one year after Blake and Harper’s reunion.
Jett Lawson, thirty-one, uses his genius to hack into systems. After studying business and cybersecurity in college, he and his brothers started up Lawson Technologies, which is now an international tech giant. Jett was broken two years ago. Two years of surgery and rehab have done much to bring him back, but his body will never be the same. The scars run the length of his body, though his face was largely spared. He walks with a limp – his mangled leg will forever be a problem for him. But it wasn’t only his body that took a hit when his PRO mission went awry. PRO is now retired, but even so Jett’s rescue days are over. The helicopter crash also bore an emotional price when Jett’s fiancée promptly dumped him as she first visited him in his hospital bed. Apparently not even his money was enough incentive for Lisette to marry someone so disfigured. A workaholic, Jett suddenly found himself with too much time on his hands to avoid reflecting on his choices. And although he is happy Lisette is gone, his self-worth nevertheless has taken a beating. He has promised himself that if a woman should come along that doesn’t judge him for his looks, he will ask her to marry him.
Ruby Kent, twenty-two, was at the wrong place at the wrong time. After six years of living on the streets, she had finally been unable to avoid trouble. She found herself mixed up in human trafficking and being sold to the highest bidder. Her new friend Danica had promised she would send help, and when Jett comes to her rescue it is just too good to be true. That someone as unattractive as her might capture the attention of such a handsome and intelligent man is the stuff of fairy tales. She finds herself starring in her own Cinderella story of rags to riches when Jett showers her with kindness and gifts. But Ruby doesn’t know how to accept help, and definitely doesn’t feel she deserves it. She was orphaned at sixteen and hasn’t’ felt compassion since. Jett’s kindness draws her to him, and although he seems to feel the same, she knows someone like her – homeless and penniless – cannot possibly hold his interest for long.
Jett and Ruby are each lost in self-doubt when Danica brings them together. Their story is one of healing the emotional wounds that plague them both. They each become powerful advocates for the other, and together they find strength. Though the story begins rather dark, it quickly turns into a sweet and patient romance. Jett has it all – money, looks, intelligence – add knight in shining armor to the ticket and he is the perfect hero. His injuries lend him character and emotional depth. Ruby is a surprising mix of innocence, humility, and boldly outspoken. The couple earns their happy ending. Carter’s story follows, and he is introduced here as an abrasive but misunderstood playboy.
For those that pay attention to detail, there are some discrepancies with the children’s ages from one book to another. According to earlier books, Danica, thirty, is the youngest in the Lawson family. Her sister Harper is thirty-one. Their three older brothers include Mason, Jett, and Carter (oldest to youngest). In this book Jett is the youngest brother and turned thirty-one the month before the opening, which does not add up since his younger sister Harper is already thirty-one.
Jett and Ruby’s slow burn is a feel-good romance. Their story is well-written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are well-developed given the length. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Jett and Ruby. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I would give this book 3.5 stars. I liked Jeff and Ruby’s story because I liked both characters for one thing. I liked the way they helped each other heal. I liked the way they supported one another. I liked the storyline about Jett reconciling with his siblings. The narration was ok.
What I thought was interesting about this book, was that the story started out in a completely different fashion from the rest of the book. The drama with Jett’s hospital situation, that immediately morphed into Ruby’s situation, then changed into a much less intense, more romantic situation through the rest of the book.
I was honestly expecting more of a romantic suspense based on the beginning of the book. It was almost like getting two books in one.
Jett was dumped by his vapid, selfish ex-fiancee when he was badly injured in a helicopter crash, and it damaged his self-esteem a lot. Ruby was a teenage runaway, now homeless and caught up in a human trafficking ring, and befriended by Jett’s sister Dani. Jett rescues Ruby and is immediately drawn to her. She’s feisty and beautiful, and he wants to protect her and keep her from ending up on the streets again. Ruby wants to trust someone, but she had a difficult time after her parents died, and trust is not something she comes by easily. He has external scars, and she has internal scars, and their attraction ends up healing each other. It’s a sweet story, emotional and steamy.
Too good. I can’t stop reading
Every time I tell myself that this is the last one I’ll read for now, I find myself staring the next book. I can’t get enough
Great Story
Jett was severely injured whole on a rescue mission with his friend Marcus in the business PRO. Jett’s so called fiancee came to the hospital to break up with him because he scared. That just knocked his confidence down. Ruby ran away from her abuser and was living in Miami when someone she thought was helping her was setting her up to be sold. Jett’s sister Dani told him and he ends up rescuing her. From there is a true roller coaster of healing & love for both.
Absolutely loved this story of Jett and Ruby!!! Jett being a billionaire and having a great company that he works with his brothers and has everything he needs but love. He wants to help and his sister Dani told him about a girl named Ruby. Ruby was being auctioned off to the highest bidder. Jett got there and took her as his but not his. He wanted to help her and get her trust but together they are healing together and growing together first as friends and then more! This is a fast pace book and it’s in a whole series but you don’t have to read them all in a row. Amazing book.
I honestly do not know why I had not ready this book yet because it was fantastic!! I loved how two broken souls, one wounded on the outside and one on the inside, are able to come together and heal one another. Jett and Ruby’s story was so beautifully written, full of love, patience, resilience and hope. I normally love conflict or danger in a story, but these two have already been through enough. Their story was finding ways to get past the hurt and suffering they went through and finding their happily ever after. Jett melted my heart with how patient he is with Ruby, but remaining so alpha. Ruby was just amazing, she had this inner strength and a beautiful heart. I loved their story so much!!
