When you’re negotiating a business deal with your enemy—here’s a few rules… from buying out my family business.
He thinks his charming smile and cocky attitude can intimidate me?
I’m a New York girl, top of my game,
And I’ll be damned if some frat boy man child thinks he can beat me.
But when the lines between us start to blur—so do my feelings.
How can something I was hired to fake, feel so real?
With more than just my business on the line,
My brain is telling me that this is one game…I might not win.

Jolie Day checked off all my boxes with His Fake GF, so there couldn’t be less than 5 stars from me. Lately, I’ve been a bit harder on authors because of heroes that I will NEVER EVER forgive from their actions, and I’m sure it’s because of this particular season in my life, so bravo Jolie Day. This story surrounds Audrey, who almost hooked up with Aaron in the past, but when circumstances beyond her control came about, she had no choice but to leave before things got really hot, and since he gave her a fake name, well that was that. Next time she comes across his path, it happens to be about her family’s failing company that he’s threatening to buy out, and she’s not having any of him now. Aaron needs someone who can masquerade as his GF, and with some maneuvering, he gets Audrey to agree to it, with the agreement that he doesn’t buy her family company. This doesn’t mean that they don’t participate in some push & pull moments with interactions on the argumentative side, but that chemistry they started with that whole failed hookup, is still ever present, but the rules state, no sexy times. While they fight, someone is out to take Aaron down, providing me with a ton of f-bomb worthy twists, which is truly my happy place. So there you go, all kinds of goodness to this story, so hit your one click button, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I’m not generally a contemporary romance reader, so take with a grain of salt (I normally stick to paranormal).
His Fake Girlfriend is a book about two people from rival companies (Aaron and Audrey) with two VERY different personalities who end up fake dating each other for a variety of reasons. As these things go, it turns out to be not so fake after a rather short time. Audrey was very fun and easy going with an outlook on life that is very bright which contrasts with Aaron’s strictly ordered, no nonsense approach to everything. They were good for each other and I enjoyed them as a couple.
The book as some interesting twists, a little corporate sabotage, some life lessons, a bit of steam, and a happy ever after when all is said and done. It was an interesting and fun read. I would have given it five stars if it wasn’t written in first person perspective.
This enemies to lovers romance was so captivating! Aaron and Audrey had a chance encounter at a bar one night that ended before it really began. When they meet unexpectedly later, they thought they were following each other. Aaron had plans to buy her cousins business and Audrey did not want the man with the ruthless reputation to crush her cousins dreams. Aaron was intrigued by Audrey and loves that she is smart, funny and quick on her feet. They enter into an arrangement that benefits both of them. As they work closely together, they learn they are so much more than they first thought. They grow to care for each other and their attraction turns into a fiery passion. Audrey soon becomes the only person Aaron can trust, as they work together to clear his name, when he is falsely accused of stealing from his company. This is an intriguing, sexy story that is made even better by DC Coles’ wonderful narration. His intonations are perfect, adding to the playfulness, intrigue, emotion, and passion of this story. This is a quick listen that I totally enjoyed.
