A footballer legendary for keeping his cool. A woman who challenges him like no other. Nothing gets by me. Nothing gets to me. On the field, or off. Until I meet Harper. One taste of her,, and she brings me to my knees. I’ll do whatever it takes to win her. She’s brilliant, she’s beautiful, and she’s so reserved, she becomes the challenge I have to win.She can’t be bothered. She’s not impressed … win.
She can’t be bothered. She’s not impressed with much—not the fact I’m an international soccer star, not money. She’s also running from something.
I can be patient. I’m used to that game. But this isn’t a game.
Not with Harper, not when she’s everything I want. Protecting the net is easy. The heart…not so much.
*A full-length standalone sports romance.

Such a sweet hot book. Love Alex and Harper book. Harper’s past come full circle. She is a strong women and Alex is her protector. You will absolutely love Alex. Love the series can’t wait to read book three.
He’s a stud soccer goalkeeper, she was a college long distance runner. Together, they are hot, sexy and sweet all wrapped in a neat little package! This story has a few triggers for those who have dealt with rape/stalking, but is a wonderful story of two people, who start out as friends with benefits until he changes the game. He just wants to keep her safe, she just wants to move on with their life. Check out this story, it was lovely!
I liked this one the best in the series. Loved the story line of Harper’s back story and Alex’s quiet nature.
The book is very good, the plot was a very sensitive subject, but fortunately the author developed really well. The characters are nice and connected. Both acts really well and are able to go through the problem like adults. He is very caring, and she is mature enough to face her problems. I really recommend this book.
Just let me say first, I am not a fan of sport romances. That being said, I loved this book! Big Win by J. H. Croix is a fantastic contemporary romance. Ms. Croix has delivered a well-written book. It is written in first-person, alternating point of view format, my least favorite, but it worked in this book. Alex is a soccer player from England now playing on the west coast of the USA. Harper and Alex have mutual friends but Harper, a rape victim, kept her distance. Harper and Alex’s story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle and action. I enjoyed reading Big Win and look forward to reading more from J.H. Croix soon. Big Win is book 2 of the Brit Boys Sports Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Not one of my favorite stories. It just didn’t seem to pull me in and get me invested in the characters. Was well written and has a happy ending. But just didn’t do it for me.
It’s a good book but not my favorite from this author. I still recommend it.
I enjoyed Alex and Harper’s story. It had it’s sexy parts but it was more about not letting horrifying things that happened in your past over take your present. This was a great story. I’ve read other books in this series and they were all great. Until next time y’all happy reading.
This is the 2nd book I read by J.H. Croix. I was liking the sports aspect of the story. I was into this book’s story line until Harper mentioned being raped. I’m sorry the way Harper acted with Alex she didn’t act like a rape victim.
My e-reader is sizzling!
Wow! This book has been on my re-read list for a long while. It’s the second JH Croix book that I’ve read and one of my favorites.
Why? The writing! Ms. Croix really knows how to weave a story that has strong characters, swoon-worthy dialogue, and steamy scenes.
For me, what makes this book are the characters. Alex is strong and silent. Once he sets his sights on Harper, he’s 100% … not that one would know it from his speech (because he really doesn’t talk much). This is where the author’s writing skill comes in. The back and forth chapters from each main character’s point of view gives us a glimpse into Alex’s mind … and this is where I was pulled in. He’s all in for Harper, especially when she comes back into the sights of a former boyfriend who is on the offense.
Harper’s learning to trust again, both emotionally and physically. When the former boyfriend comes back on the scene, she realizes that she still has unresolved issues to work through.
This book is a stand-alone with a HEA but it’s got familiar characters I loved from the previous book The Play, and it sets up the next book in the series!
I purchased this book based on book #1 in this series. Highly recommended by me!!!
Like this author. Book was great! Harper seemed a little forward. I get it, she dove straight in to heal herself. Sometimes a little hard to believe her thoughts and actions. Really liked Alex. A self made man with a messed up dad. I was impressed over and over how he handled life! Awesome guy in every way.
Enjoyed the story but disappointed.Thought maybe Liam’s ad Olivera’s wedding would appear.
loved this book!
This book was okay. Nothing else to say about it.
I love everything by J.H. Croix!! Loved this story and can’t wait to read again.
I love reading all her books, they’re a little unpredictable with very likable characters.
The problem with this book is that the characters never talk to each other. They run together and have sex and meet together with friends for dinner but never seem to converse. So when they are saying how in love they are and bonded they are it’s kind of not believable
Love J. H. Croix’s books, whether Alaska or Seatle, her characters and stories are the best!
This is a sweet (but hot) romance story. It was easy to like the characters, especially our main guy Alex. It was an easy, fun read.
Wow! Another great book by J.H. Croix! Her descriptions are so realistic I was walking in the Seattle rain along with Alex and Harper. Alex is a football (soccer to us in the USA) player from England who has come to Seattle to play for their team. He is good friends with Liam, who was the hero in Book 1. He’s the rock in their friendship, always level-headed and calm. Until he meets Harper.
Harper is good friends with Olivia, heroine in Book 1. Harper went through something horrific in her past and has everlasting emotional scars because of it. When her past rears its ugly head, Alex is there for her, but can she let down her defenses enough to find love?
I absolutely love that J.H. Croix makes her characters so realistic. Her characters aren’t fake somebodies, they have real problems that are completely relatable to you and me.
This is a must read! HEA, no cliffhangers and you don’t have to read Book 1 to understand Book 2, but you will want to just because it is so good. I’m looking forward to the next books in the series to find out how Ethan, Tristan, and Daisy find their HEAs.
