It’s not just the motion of the ocean, ladies. It’s definitely the SIZE of the boat too.
And I’ve got both firing on all cylinders. In fact, I have ALL the right assets. Looks, brains, my own money, and a big cock.
You might think I’m an asshole. I sound like one, don’t I? I’m hot as sin, rich as heaven, smart as hell and hung like a horse.
Guess what? You haven’t heard my story before. Sure, I … story before. Sure, I might be a playboy, like the NY gossip rags call me. But I’m the playboy who’s actually a great guy. Which makes me one of a kind.
The only trouble is, my dad needs me to cool it for a bit. With conservative investors in town wanting to buy his flagship Fifth Avenue jewelry store, he needs me not only to zip it up, but to look the part of the committed guy. Fine. I can do this for Dad. After all, I’ve got him to thank for the family jewels. So I ask my best friend and business partner to be my fiancée for the next week. Charlotte’s up for it. She has her own reasons for saying yes to wearing this big rock.
And pretty soon all this playing pretend in public leads to no pretending whatsoever in the bedroom, because she just can’t fake the kind of toe-curling, window-shattering orgasmic cries she makes as I take her to new heights between the sheets.
But I can’t seem to fake that I might be feeling something real for her.
What the fuck have I gotten myself into with this…big rock?
BIG ROCK is a standalone, dirty romance novel written from the guy’s POV by NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely…

I read this book a while ago but it was one you won’t forget because it was great fun and a wonderful story with a really good HEA. I love Blakely’s work as she is always original with her storylines and they are funny, steamy and romantic. She gives you various POV’s so you can get into their heads. Always a good read if it is one of her’s, a one click for me. Try the series they are all good.
I love Lauren Blakely! I didn’t think I’d enjoy listening to an audiobook. Damn, between the story and the narrator, this story is soooo hot!! Wyatt is sexy, witty, and so sweet despite his delusions of people’s intentions. Or should I say, women’s intentions. Natalie is mischievous, smart, strong, and a perfect fit for Wyatt. I love stories that have Vegas in them. And this one hits all the Vegas high notes. Now I need to go back to the previous books!
This was my first Lauren Blakely book. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I was afraid Spencer was going to be an annoying conceited jerk. But it introduced me to my love of Blakely’s writing and non-angsty romances that are fun and sexy.
Lauren Blakely is one of my favorite authors. You can’t go wrong if your looking for a romance she always hits a home run!!
Absolutely loved it, the romance between two best friends Spencer and Charlotte was full of everything, hot bodies, hot sex, great story line and hilariously funny, follow these two friends and business partners as they slip from a fake relationship into a real romance. Narrated by the spectacular Sebastian York who always gives the characters a personality and a voice. This is a must read.
Read as part of a boxed set. Pertinent review added here…
I have read several of Ms. Blakely’s books, and remembered why I enjoy reading her world. Warm, funny, witty, sometimes irreverent, and filled with likable characters – every book in this series just delivers.
And, what a joy to read such well edited books! Another note – while told from a first person POV, it is not a continual stream of “I did…” or “I said…”. There is story, detail, thought, opinion, feeling, and description in refreshing variety.
Big Rock (#1) – Spencer & Charlotte
Friends since college, Spencer and Charlotte run a successful business in Manhattan. They date other people, have each other’s back, and generally have a good life. Then, a common ruse takes on a life of it’s own. On occasion, Spencer or Charlotte will claim to be the other’s fiance, helping each other out of unwanted attention or sticky situations. Spencer finds himself in one such situation and blurts out that Charlotte is his newly minted fiancee. Charlotte is about to decline when an unfortunate run-in with her persistent ex changes her mind. Now, they are pretending for all the world while trying to remember that they are indeed pretending. Except, maybe they aren’t?
Three out of four of these couples started out as long term friends. They knew tons about each other – likes, dislikes, quirks, and charms. Everyone was likable. And while they path was a bit rocky, it wasn’t tragic or angsty or filled with danger. Just people going through emotions, friendships, and finding love. Light, fun, witty, and well written. What more could you ask for? Enjoy!!
This was such a funny, sweet and fast paced story and I enjoyed every second of it. Spencer and Charlotte are best friends and business partners who always have each others backs. So when Spencer needs a fake fiancé she agrees to help him. Things get interesting when Charlotte has a proposition of her own. This was my first Lauren Blakely read and I was not disappointed. I’m very much looking forward to Mr. Orgasm.
I’m always a sucker for friends to lovers. I love how Lauren comes at you, from the male POV.
This friends to lovers romance is a must read! It is one of the sweetest, funniest, sexiest, most romantic books I have ever read! It is told completely in Spencer’s pov and is refreshing and hilarious! Spencer and Charlotte are best friends and business partners. They have an easy friendship and know each other better than anyone else. When they agree to fake their quick engagement for a week, it is for their mutual benefit. Charlotte to rid herself of her bothersome ex. and Spencer to help his father sell his business. But lying isn’t easy for Charlotte or Spencer. He loves and respects his father so much that the guilt weighs on him. They convince themselves it is for such a short time and good cause that it’s worth the price. From the start of their agreement you see how perfect they are together in the ease with which they banter and maneuver around each other. Spencer loads the dishwasher the way Charlotte likes without a thought, he knows she likes jewel tones and hates chocolate covered cherries, etc. Charlotte knows when to jump in to help Spencer and always has his back. They have always thought the other was sexy but never gave a thought to anything more. But now the floodgates have been opened and they begin to entertain the possibilities. Can Spencer convince Charlotte that their explosive chemistry isn’t fake but as real as it gets? Can something this good stay strong when it begins with lies? Ms Blakely is brilliant at creating sexy, intelligent, clever adult characters who tackle life head on. It might not always go smoothly but it always feels genuine and honest. I loved Spencer and Charlotte together, their banter was witty and they felt like two halves of a whole, completing each other. I really enjoyed meeting Spencer’s family, they were fun, loyal, and supportive. If you are looking for a heartfelt, funny, sexy romance you will absolutely love this book!
4 stars
I purchased Big Rock by Lauren Blakely in The Bigger Rock 4 book collection and this review was given freely.
This falling in love with your best friend and business partner romance starts out as a scam but has a happy ending for Charlotte and Spenser . There are multiple steamy scenes. The sister is everything I would expect in a real sister: loving, teasing, and a little bratty. The language is a little raw and rough as I would imagine the average guys language would be. The story line was enriched by the characters of Nina, the caring father, the rebellious Emily, and the shavenistic Mr. Offerman.
This wasn’t my favorite book, but I still liked it nonetheless. It was very cute seeing these two best friends fall for each other as they fake an engagement to help Spencer’s dad sell his jewelry store.
Their relationship is already solid since they’re best friends and business partners. So we mostly see them give in the physical attraction and get little glimpses at how easy their friendship is. Spencer and Charlotte were perfect for each other. It was a light and fun read.
Right from the very first sentence, it hooked me. This book had everything that I love. Male POV-check. Spence has great narration! Great banter between Spencer and Charlotte-check. Highly entertaining and funny-check. Nothing dragged on and no angst- check. Smoking hot fun- double check. I just really, really, really enjoyed this book. I loved that even though Spencer had a huge *cough* ego, he was a good guy. He gave great tips too!
Sidenote- I love that he calls his cat Fido a perv. Ha!
There’s nothing I love more than a book that makes me smile but if it also makes me swoon and feel the need to fan my cheeks, that’s an added bonus. A male-only-POV book about a guy revered for his sexual prowess? The premise of Big Rock seems fairly simple yet the result is so much more complex, thanks to Lauren Blakely’s ability to create an engaging narrative with characters you can’t help but love. The flirtatious repartee and the explosive chemistry between protagonists, Spencer and Charlotte, provide a perfect balance between humor and desire.
Big Rock is a character-driven romance and Spencer is undoubtedly the star of the story. I loved the author’s switch to male-only perspective, especially with Spencer as the narrator. Not only does it give the narrative a lighter, flirtier tone, but it allows the reader to delve deeper into every facet of Spencer’s character. From page one, he portrays himself as a playboy, overly confident in his ability to pleasure a woman with his numerous…assets. It’s not just his self-assuredness that drew me to his character, though; it’s his liveliness, his spontaneity, and his easygoing nature that makes Big Rock such a fun read.
Such a charismatic hero demands an equally alluring heroine, and Charlotte is more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Spencer. She’s strong and independent and, most importantly, voluntarily goes along with Spencer’s well-meaning, yet harebrained schemes. Whether they’re exchanging playful banter over drinks or heating up the pages with their combustible passion, their transition from friends to lovers is (mostly) effortless. I loved that they could joke with each other one moment then the next engage in an intimate encounter so unbelievably steamy and lust-filled, it’s a wonder they ever bother to get out of bed.
With its friends-to-lovers romance and the always-entertaining fake engagement storyline, Big Rock is a steamy and sweet rom-com, perfect for a few hours of feel-good, laugh-out-loud enjoyment. Like all of Lauren Blakely’s books, I devoured this in one sitting, even slowing down near the end to prolong the experience. Big Rock is light on the angst and heavy on the romance and comedy, ensuring that I had a wide smile on my face from start to finish. Basically, it’s my idea of a perfect romance novel.

This was very lighthearted and fun read! Classic story: fake engagement between two best friends, who then realize they might have not-so-friendly feelings for each other. I enjoyed it very much, the story had nice and easy flow, it was interesting, sexy … it just lacked something special that would make it different from all the same themed books, unfortunately. Still, I’d recommend it if you’re feeling like reading something lighthearted and not get too invested in the story.
Cute! Spencer and Charlotte are super hot! They really do burn up the pages. It was also great to see that the woman straight up told him what she wanted. And the drama at the end was not what I was expecting it to be. I was quite happy with how the story ended. I love how Spencer would remember all these little things about Charlotte and things that she liked, but he didn’t think much about it. I am super glad that he was not too stubborn to admit his feelings.
The story flowed smoothly, kept my interest & I couldn’t put it down wondering what would happen next. It reminded me of the old adage that you should always marry someone who is your best friend for a marriage to last/work. I loved Charlotte, Spencer comes across as the typical playboy type in the beginning but seeing his interactions with Charlotte helped win me over, they really are so perfect for each other! Even though a few places in the plot were so obvious in the direction the story went, I still enjoyed reading this. I laughed out loud in few places, too. The fact that they are best friends & felt anything but friendship was off limits in order to preserve the friendship, just highlighted that they were in a sense already in a degree of love before the fake engagement. It’s funny how Spencer doesn’t really see the writing on the wall about his feelings until the end of the fake engagement (typical man for ya). This is definitely a story I would re-read (which is a rarity for me).
I can’t tell you which I found sexier…the steamy story or the sense of humor
OK the truth!?!
This story is sexy but better than that it is laugh out loud funny too. I was constantly pestered my kids to tell them what had me cracking up. The snark and banter is pure dynamite.
Spencer is a dream for sure. If only I could get a date!
Hands down most fun I’ve had in a book in 6 months.
Spencer Holiday. I think I’m in love. With ALL 12 inches! That is all.
**Review for the audible version***
I like Lauren Blakely books because they don’t have so much angst, it’s an easy read for relaxing days without that much twists and complications .. just a read to enjoy..
It took me a lot of time to start with Big Rock but I finally got the audiobook.. I really love Sebastian York work, his voice is mega sexy and his performance always makes the characters more deep.. his voice is the Alpha male type, meaning the only man in my radar lol
This is the story of two best friends who happens to fake an engagement just to help Spencer’s dad with a business partner whos moral is very high.. Spencer feels like his Dating life can affect his father business so he decided to fake an engagement for just one week while the transaction concludes..
Spencer is a guy who likes to have different dates every single night and it has a reputation of being one of the most eligible bachelors in town.. Charlotte his best friend and work partner comes to the rescue and accepts to fake their relationship for one week .. but nothing can prepare these two for the conclusion of this lie, nothing can prepare them for the feelings, emotions and the intensity of the relationship.. specially when the feelings are so strong and can’t be denied..
I love Charlotte she is fun, she is sexy, feminine and beautiful.. she is a great heroine.. always supportive, with a great sense of humor .. i also love that there was never any doubting moment between them.. yes, there was a brief moment where you think Spencer is doubting Charlottes because of certain circumstances but it was quickly resolve.. a great read, a good story.. something to enjoy..
