He’s kind of a big dill.
A secret boss rom com from USA Today bestselling author JJ Knight
They call me Big Pickle. It’s not what you think.
(Although that’s true too.)
I happen to be the oldest Pickle in the family deli business.
And we have the best salami.
Take that one however you like.
But when my father announces the franchise will go to the most profitable of the three brothers, I learn … three brothers, I learn that even though I’m the eldest Pickle, I’m dead last.
I hightail it to Texas to see what’s happened to my restaurant, only to find a sassy little spitfire named Nova Strong in charge.
She’s amazing. She’s sexy. She runs our deli like she owns it.
But despite the way we nearly melt the permafrost in the industrial freezer, I have to control myself. Nova thinks I’m a new employee. She has no idea I’m only there to spy.
Or that I’m her boss.
As I get to the bottom of why my franchise is failing, I desperately need to know one thing:
Is Nova Strong everything wrong with my deli, or everything right for me?
Big Pickle is a full-length, 300-page standalone romantic comedy full of pickle jokes, giggle-worthy references to male anatomy, and more salty language than a jar of baby dills.

BIG PICKLE is a hilarious romantic comedy that hooked me from the start. I laughed out loud, I smiled slyly, I rooted for Nova and Jace, and I loved slipping into the world JJ Knight created. It’s always a pleasure to find an authentic, funny, hot new series to sink into an BIG PICKLE is the start of something wonderful.
I’m halfway through this story and can’t tell you how much I needed to read something this fun and quirky (times are heard in the world now). Nova and Jason’s (aka Jace) funny, romantic and heartfelt adventure to happiness in this “secret boss romantic comedy” gives me those reading butterflies again <3
JJ Knight is always such pleasure to read and an amazing author I have known for years <3 Highly recommended!
SWEET, SEXY, AND FUNNY
LOVED this adorable, puny and funny romance–Jace Pickle is the undercover boss who gets more than he expects… and more than he can handle with Nova Strong. But can their sweet and sexy vibe survive the secret he’s keeping? Snap up this delightful story for the perfect summer read!
The romantic comedy that all other romantic comedies aspire to be!
LOVED this read! It you want fun, romance and puns…this book is for you! The story just brought a smile to my face every time i sat down to read it. I never knew what was going to happen next between these two main characters. I Loved all the pickle puns and I almost wish there was an actual deli so I could get a shirt with those awesome sayings on it.
The characters have a boss/employee relationship with some hate-sparks right off the bat. Then it becomes a sexy pickled pun romantic romp but once again the hate comes back out because trust is something you can’t dill around with. Ha ha see what I did there?
Jason is in a pickle (for lack of a better term). He is a secret boss, in a competition, a sleuth and a liar. Not to mention a good heart and a great sense of humor. Nova (great name BTW) is a fiery outspoken gal. I love how she steps up and she really cares about everyone as well as inspires. Great character!
This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed all the laughs and good times. I look forward to more from her and hopefully Max and Anthony’s books.
What a great time to read this!! It was uplifting and had me laughing and some tears!
Jace (Jason) and Nova had chemistry from the get go.
Nova is a part time employee who steps up to the plate when the manager takes a leave and when Jason arrives to find out why his business, that he really never cared about, isn’t doing all that great, he finds Nova doing what needs to done to keep the deli afloat. And is instantly drawn to her. This story had a lot of laughs, love and even a little mystery.
Will Jace save his deli and find love?
A Funny, Romantic & Heart Warming Rom -Com!! A 4.5 Star Read

Big Pickle
This was a wonderful romantic comedy from start to finish!! The storyline is fun, light hearted and completely engaging. The two main characters, Jason & Nova, are both likeable, funny & strong! As their relationship builds it becomes hot & heavy with feelings creeping in on both sides! Of course things are never that simple.
This is a book I’d highly recommend, especially for some hot, romantic, fun escapism!!

JJ Knight writes just what we need right now! Funny, steamy, great romance with lots of pickle jokes and a winning hero and heroine. I can’t wait for more Pickles!
Jace Pickle finds himself in really big pickle: his father is retiring and declared whichever of his sons makes the most income for the year will become the head of the Pickle Family delis and also take over the
Flagship New York store. Jace has hardly ever stepped in his Austin deli and is shocked to discover that it’s doing the worst in the chain.
When he arrives, nothing is as he expected, especially Nova Strong who seems to be the self-proclaimed manager, and who has a strange effect on him—almost electrical.
This first book about the PICKLE BROTHERS had me laughing aloud throughout! The main characters, Jason and Nova, are memorable and funny and smart. This story of mistaken identity has lots of humor, sweet but intense attraction, a mystery to solve, outrageously funny situations and romance … LOTS of romance and, of course – hot times. I really, really enjoyed this one and I’m off to read about the next Pickle brother. Highly recommend.
A great romp in the deli world where a family legacy rebel gets a chance with a real romance.
I needed this book. I needed something to pull me out of my current book funk, and I realized I had bought this pickle which has been sitting on the back burner, waiting for me to chance a peek inside.
I’m glad I did.
I’ve read JJ Knight before, so she’s no stranger to me. However, this light “comedy” romance was new to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, it contains plenty of pickle puns and deli jokes every time you turn around, but at least I haven’t heard these joke yet! I love its main characters — and they’re not just the hero or the heroine, folks — and I appreciate seeing that as both a reader/writer/editor/publisher. Sure, we have a romance subplot wrapped around another subplot where someone is embezzling the deli, not to mention a contest between the Pickle Brothers on whose store could earn the most (the reward would be the entire Pickle Empire!). Very enjoyable.
I appreciate the fact that this IS a novel with plenty of room to do the storyline justice. Better editing this time than in the Billionaire single dad duo. I took a peek on Amazon to get an idea on what the other two books in the series was all about, and I think it’s worth purchasing the next book in line just to see how the series goes.
J.J. Knight is a new author to me. I had been seeing lots of great reviews for this book. I love a good rom-com. Big Pickle sounded like a fun read, so I grabbed it. This book had a bit of everything. It was a bit suspenseful, a bit steamy, a bit flirty, and a lot of fun! Lots of laughs and heartstrings being pulled at times. Interesting cast of characters to keep your attention throughout the story. It was a quick, easy-breezy read which I very much enjoyed. Check it out. I hope you’ll like it as much as I did.
Jace Pickle is the oldest of the three Pickle brothers. When his dad announces that he wants to retire he indicates that there will be a contest and which ever store wins, that is the son who will get to run the entire company as well as the Manhattan Pickle.
Currently, Jace’s store, Austin Pickle is in last place for profit. Considering Jace never goes to the Austin Pickle because he is too busy with his playboy lifestyle, he has no idea why business is so bad. Jace comes up with the idea to show up undercover at his store and spy as to what’s going on. When Jace arrives he immediately clashes with Nova Strong, the closest thing to a store manager. It seems the actual manager, Susan, is on medical leave….for the last six months…..in Hawaii!!!! Nova is beyond frustrated trying to run the store with no authority to do anything. When Jace shows up claiming to be Jason Packwood who is friends with Jace and is there for a job, Nova is skeptical, but after talking with Jace’s assistant realizes Jason is for real. What Nova doesn’t realize is that Jason is Jace and that Jason is his real name.
The more these two work together, they more the chemistry starts to ignite. Jace is caught between wanting Nova and wondering if she is stealing from his business. As Jace starts to get to the bottom of what is really going on, things with Nova are progressing and they finally start dating. Just when it seems that things are perfect, Nova finds out who Jason really is and everything blows up in his face. It will take a lot of soul searching for these two to realize that they really belong together and they do it in the most perfect way which will lead to their happy ever after.
I just freaking loved this story! If you are looking for a fun, laugh out loud romance read this book. I loved both Nova and Jace/Jason. Nova is such a strong female and really was the responsible one in her family. Jason was the fun loving playboy who fell so hard for his leading lady. I loved all the secondary characters too! They were all a hoot! Great book and I can’t wait to read the others in the series.
I though the pickle word play would get on my nerves… and at first they did but I soon forgot about their cheeziness because this book was amazing! Funny and witty and steamy and delicious!
Big Pickle was another great read by J.J. Knight. Jason is the oldest Pickle in the family deli business. Their father is ready to retire and announced that the franchise will go to the brother who’s deli is the most profitable. Even though it’s expected that Jason would win, he starts in dead last. He always took a hands off approach to his restaurant, but knows that he has to go to find out what’s going on in his deli. He meets Nova, who is running the deli as if she owns it. Jason decides to pretend to be just an employee to find out why the deli’s failing. I really enjoyed reading Jason and Nova’s story and can’t wait to read more by J.J. Knight.
Creative and fun with a healthy dose of laughter
ROMANTIC COMEDY AT ITS BEST!!!
Title: Big Pickle
Author: J.J. Knight
Designation: Full-Length (Approx 300 pages), Standalone, NO Cliffhanger #contemporary #romanticcomedy #secretboss #wealthyplayboy
My Rating: Five Outrageously Cute and Oh So Sexy Stars*****
Oh my! I loved, loved, loved Big Pickle by J.J. Knight! If you’re a diehard rom-com fan like me, you probably already know that J.J. Knight is only one of the pen names for the very talented Deanna Roy. She writes romantic comedy and MMA sports romance as J.J. Knight, angsty contemporary romance as Deanna Roy, sweet smalltown contemporary romance as Abby Tyler, and sexy romantic suspense as Annie Winters. But it matters not what name Knight uses since everything she writes is magically delicious, and Big Pickle is no exception. And no, there’s no actual magic, just good old-fashioned and very well written contemporary romance with the perfect blend of humor, heat, and heart with a light sprinkle of angst. Without a doubt, Big Pickle is one of the most entertaining books I’ve read this year. I was completely hooked in the first chapter and couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. I snickered, snorted, chuckled, giggled, and outright belly laughed through the entire book. It was fabulous! And folks, this has certainly been the year from h*ll, so I think we all could use a good laugh, right? And you get plenty of those in Big Pickle! But for those folks who like specifics, let’s talk a few details.
Big Pickle is a fast-paced, easy to follow, fun-filled, exceptionally well crafted and edited, full-length, stand-alone contemporary romantic comedy filled to the brim with witty dialogue, cutesy one-liners, laugh-out-loud humor, a cast of engaging and endearing characters, a little angsty drama, a few spicy secrets, heartwarming romance, and an attraction that won’t be denied. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, clueless, absent deli owner Jason Packwood aka Jace Pickle, and beautiful, hardworking, and very spunky stand-in deli manager Nova Strong. These two characters were total opposites, one a wealthy, entitled, 30-year-old playboy and the other, a hardworking college student. But it’s a match made in heaven. Their chemistry was off the charts, and they complemented each other brilliantly. The dialogue is smart, snappy, at times outrageously funny, and flows effortlessly. I was immediately smitten with Jace Pickle aka Jason Packwood, eldest of the famous Pickle brothers and owner of Austin Pickle in Texas. His store had been a gift from his father while attending college in Austin. His dad, Sherman Pickle, owner of Manhattan Pickle and chairman of the Pickle Deli franchise, did the same for his two younger brothers when they left for college. Max Pickle, the middle sibling went to school in Los Angeles and now owned LA Pickle, and the youngest, Anthony Pickle, was now proud owner of Boulder Pickle. Their Grammy Alma started the ball rolling many years ago, when she opened the original store, Brooklyn Pickle. Jace was living large, jetting around the world, and living the life of a wealthy playboy but at the ripe old age of 30, I think Jace had become a little lost and bored with life in general. He’d pretty much left his deli to run itself. He hadn’t even looked at a financial statement for his store in at least a year, not knowing it was on the verge of going belly up. But now that his dad was ready to step down and wanted one of his sons to step up and take over Manhattan Pickle along with the entire franchise, he’s more than a little surprised to learn that the brothers and their stores would actually be competing against each other for the position. And his store was already dead last! What?!? Jace returns to Austin to find out what’s wrong at his deli and meets sassy Pickle employee Nova Strong. Nova was the bomb – smart, capable, hardworking, spunky, and gorgeous! But poor Nova! She went from being a part-time employee to the kinda, sorta, stand-in honcho for Austin Pickle after the head manager of the store went on unexpected and very sudden medical leave, causing most of the employees to quit and leaving Nova with the most seniority. So, she became store manager by default and was stuck doing the manager’s job, but without proper excess to store records, operations, and suppliers, and with NO raise in pay. Unfortunately, she’d never met the owner, Jace Pickle, and had been unable to even get him on the phone, despite having tried many times! And this is where the magic between Jace and Nova begins! Their meet-cute was hysterical! Jace walks into his own store and is NOT recognized. In order to ferret out the problem, he decides to apply for an in-store advertised job opening and gets grilled…um, interviewed by Nova. Obviously, he doesn’t use the name Jace Pickle, but his real name Jason Packwood. Nova has no idea who he is. And folks, these two are at each other’s throats immediately, resulting in outrageously cute antics and dialogue. Jace suspects Nova of wrongdoing and Nova suspects Jason is a spy or has some sort of ulterior motive for being there. It’s hilarious and keeps you glued to the pages until the very end!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy love scenes! If you want to read romantic comedy at its best, this is the book for you! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! J.J. Knight is an automatic buy for me, every single time! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Okay I enjoyed this book. It was a funny, sweet, angsty love story. I enjoyed the characters and the story. The only reason I didn’t give it four stars is because I felt it just took too long for the chemistry to click for these two characters. Now once it did click it was great but it just felt like forever to get there. But overall a great book and I can’t wait to read the next installment.
Liked the story / the author’s spin. Will be reading other books by this author.
Hot Pickle is the second book about the Pickle family. The pickle jokes are on point, not too much or too little, maybe a little spicy. Camryn and Max’s story is about supporting each other in all ways possible. Love at first sight; yet not knowing what to do about it .People seeing more in you than you see in yourself. About how relationships can be complicated and rewarding.

No, not like that.
When that happens, you won’t need me to tell you.
I’m a competitive bodybuilder, ready for my first regional contest. And winning requires more than just killer workouts, diet, or stage presence.
It’s all about the tan.
My training partner Franklin uses the best in the business — Camryn Schultz. She understands the career killer of a badly placed white spot.
She’s also his sister.
So when the craptastic tan I’m given for my first competition requires an emergency patch, Frank knows exactly who to call.
The thing is, when Camryn’s hands hit my skin, more than a few muscles spring to life.
I’m about to head on stage in the tiniest Speedo imaginable and parts of me no longer fit.
What I need to do for my friendship and my future on the circuit is to walk away.
But when Camryn’s got her hands on my hard body, there’s no way this Pickle is going to get anything but hot.
