Even billionaires need love
I’m a little bit behind in my reviewing, due to having been sick. So luckily I had lots of books, light reads, to keep me company, including this one. Each story is reviewed individually below.
Valentine’s Vengeance
This first story I recognised as I’d already read it as part of the Happily Ever Alpha boxset. It was the story that first introduced me to Michele de Winton’s writing and drew me in to read more of her works, eventually landing me right back at the beginning.
I absolutely loved the story when I first read it. I must admit, I wasn’t as in to the “OMG” overreacting stuff this time around, but the story as a whole still really appealed to me and I eventually found that I enjoyed it as much as the first time around.
Rating: – Really liked
Love Stuck
Sass is pretty much awesome. Alternative, knows who she is and what she wants. Yet it appears to unsettle her first ever client as an independent stylist. Unsettle him in more ways than one.
Seriously good fun, back and forth, with a not-so-easily-won HEA. MdW definitely knows how to write drama!
Rating: – Really liked
Lady Boss
This was my absolute favourite of the series, and that had nothing to do with the lady being the billionaire this time around. It’s a great twist, sure, as there should be more stories with a powerful woman leading them, instead of it always being the man who has all the money and power. Better still, it detailed obstacles that needed to be overcome for the woman to become the powerhouse.
But, what I loved most about this was the detailed descriptions, of places visited, of the flight. I was really into the story, much further than most easy-read stories take me. Truly a hidden gem.
Rating: – Loved it/couldn’t put it down
Bonus Story: Fighting for Freya
I was quite happy to see a continuation to the Hot Tide series and all the characters I was familiar with from it, especially a story for Holokai, the apparent “more interested in surfing than girls” guy. With someone there who actually gets under his skin, he does relax more. But the big shame that came with this story is that, for me, it was too short. There were too few words to give depth to the story, so it ended up as an unfortunate disappointment rather than the huge Holo victory that it should have been.
Rating: – Sort of liked/OK
Overall, a great, quick-read boxset that will leave you hanging for more.
Final rating (rounded to the nearest number): – Really liked
This is a great fun boxed set of three full length books in the Big City Billionaire they have all bee released separately but this is the perfect opportunity to have them all together in one place I will review each book below

LOVE STRUCK
This is the story of Cara’s friend Sarah “Sass” Hunt she is a image consultant and about to start her own business when Joe Cara’s husband recommends his friend Kirk Anderson to have one we will have a total clash of personalities and expectations He can’t handle the clothes she picks and she thinks he needs serious help Can they reach compromise and do they have a future together
LADY BOSS

Can they keep it business like or are they about to go up in flames You will have to read to see
Valentine -We have a girl unjustly accused by her boyfriend for something done by a close family member. She protects them by not telling, but it doesn’t really matter as he doesn’t give her a chance to say anything just angrily says it could only be her. She runs out hurt and in tears and doesn’t see him again for some time. She’s doing good at her new job and then learns that it has been bought by him. Will he keep her on, will she have to prove her loyalty. She never stopped caring for him but still feels the pain caused by her family member, and her ex-boyfriend’s complete distrust in her. This story will tell you what she does to prove to him that she knows what she is doing, which will be tough to do, as he already believes she is using the company for her own gains. What will she have to go through to show him he’s wrong and will he be able to forget how she betrayed him. Will the truth come out? Who will be hurt? It reads like I’ve given you a lot of spoilers, but you’d be wrong, this is just the gist of the story, to find out how she proves he’s wrong you’ll have to read this great contemporary romance.
Love Suck
Wow, I thought it was terrific and the characters were outstanding, bold, smart, but flawed enough to make you care about them. Sass, with her “will never make it” view of herself and trying not to drop into the blackness her mother did. Kirk with his need to be the best, making him cold and unapproachable, all because of family rejection. I let out an “all right” when Kirk finally understands his shortcomings and what he needs to do to change. It makes you feel great when they finally accept themselves bruises and all. Now let’s talk about the hotness between them; tear clothes off, do it on the floor before you combust kind of hotness; I tell you it got me excited.
Lady Boss
I thought this was a wonderful piece of writing. The Author’s knowledge of the technical aspects in the story was great. I loved the characters strength and weaknesses, how they both had vulnerabilities and worked through them to a passionate and loving ending. This was a great series, grab it quick
4-4.5 stars
Although I liked the first book in the trio the best, this is a good, well-written collection of romances set in the world of big business. I read Lady Boss first, but that did not matter. I would recommend reading Love Stuck after Valentine’s Vengeance as one starts on the fringes of the earlier book’s end. Here’s my take on each:
Valentine’s Vengeance – 4.5 stars
Do corporate competition and romance mix? Ask Cara!
4.5 stars
I really enjoyed this well-written second chance romance between corporate mover and shaker Joe and Cara, an idealistic young woman who gets caught between a rock and a hard place (e.g. her tough executive mom and her mom’s competition, who just happens to be the man she wants). It’s quite sweet, with mischievous rescue dogs, an unusual Valentine’s Day marketing campaign, a bit of distrust and misunderstanding, and a happy result. Joe’s Mexican background and his issues with his mother gave the story a bit of a interesting twist too. The plot stays focused on the couple, the secondary characters were kept to a manageable level, and I thought the length was just right.
Love Stuck – 4 stars
Stuck in an elevator or taking a meeting, this couple strike sparks!
Steamier than Valentine’s Vengeance, the book many of these characters carry over from, the tension in this pairing between fashion stylist Sass and her reluctant executive client Kirk is palpable. Kirk’s a big success, ready to reach the exalted heights in his field and Sass’s business is just at the embryo start-up stage. Most of their encounters are combattive, but when they allow their attraction to take over …!
I liked the storyline and couple in Valentine’s Vengeance more, but this one is also well-written and tightly focused on the couple and their effect on each other. It was an enjoyable read, right down to the end.
Lady Boss – 4 and a bit stars
Tyson, how do you cope with attraction to a woman aiming to send female scientists into orbit!

4 and a bit stars
I enjoyed this well-written, short office romance between a tech dreamer hero and a hard-nosed businesswoman who wants to make a difference in the tech industry and for women in the sciences, but woe to any man standing in her path! Tyson and Samantha’s relationship is not typical; it’s refreshing the way they work out their HEA despite the initial conflict caused by business differences. Tyson’s backstory with his father and his devotion to his researchers and gender equality in the workplace made him a very sympathetic hero. Lucky Samantha! There’s steam, but it does not overpower the plot or romance.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the books in the collection; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Valentine’s Vengeance
5 Stars
Billionaire Joe Diaz is the owner of a broken heart that has been festering for five years thanks to Cara Reynolds the woman he thinks has done him wrong. Only there is a hitch, Cara has a broken heart too and has laid low for five years thanks to being the fall guy for the deal that Joe lost and thinks was because of Cara. Now Joe is Cara’s new boss and is all about revenge.
This author’s words expressing her trademark cheeky humor and delightful unconventional take on romance sashayed across the pages of Valentine’s Vengeance like they owned it! When vegan condoms and rescue dogs converge to take on the past of two former lovers you can bet Michele DeWinton is behind it! Humor balanced with bruised feelings and miscommunication reign supreme in this fast moving and lively novella. Between the witty dialog and the steamy encounters this writer superbly orchestrated this fun work. Most assuredly Ms. DeWinton will leave readers as lovestruck with her fabulous writing as her characters are with each other after reading Valentine’s Vengeance!

Love Stuck
4 Stars
Behind every hero that is a jerk there is a heroine out there waiting to rehabilitate their heart. In Love Stuck Michele DeWinton proves she is just the writer to conjure up the perfect match for a love remedy.
Kirk Anderson went to sleep every night with nothing but numbers and spreadsheets as his companions. With a public persona that was cut off, calculating and cold few saw the kindness that lurked behind the facade. Then stylist Sass Hunt came into the picture, the definition of outgoing and likeable, with an image make over and words of wisdom in hand. This writer gave new meaning to sparks flying!
If anyone can make enemies fall in love it is Michele DeWinton and she did a wonderful job of bringing these two reluctant lovers together! Steam and wit saved the day and made it hard for both this couple and readers to walk away from the draw of this attraction. A great mix of fun and compassion Ms. DeWinton gives readers a story with lots of charm in Love Stuck!

Lady Boss
5 Stars
In a nice twist of roles Michele DeWinton takes the heroine of Lady Boss and puts her in a position of power typically seen being held by heroes for a very entertaining read!
In a man’s world Samantha Williams not only holds her own but exceeds expectations as a successful CEO. When Tyson Jenkins’ company is acquired by Sam’s company he is reluctant to part ways with it not because he has issues with a woman taking it over but because he wants to make sure the vision he had for his company is not destroyed in the name of profit. The struggle to compromise and stand in each other’s shoes while dealing with a mutual attraction was nicely done by this writer. It was inspiring to see Tyson’s enlightened views toward women and it made for one desirable hero. Sam was a strong yet accessible heroine.
In Lady Boss Michele DeWinton’s portrayals of modern women raise the stakes for heroines everywhere and give their heroes happily ever after’s to be envious!

I’m writing one review for the set b/c I posted separate ones on zon and gr. Basically, the women are shrewish and seem to have a chip on their shoulders for men- manhaters and maneaters! They humanize from time to time, but the men far outshine these feminists by a mile. They don’t deserve to be stuck with these demons for life, but they choose short term pleasure abd hope for the best. The stories are fun and the men are worth the read.
I thought that this was a very enjoyable box set of quick reads. I felt that the plots were fun, the storylines entertaining and the characters interesting. You get a second chance, an opposites attract and a Billionaire romance with an actual female billionaire! I mean how cool is that. All together a great collection of books.
Valentines Vengeance: A fast paced romance full of pain, regret, success, reconciliation, and family. Such a whirlwind with twists and turns, a short and very thrilling read. I appreciate the theme on excelling despite physical setbacks.
Love Struck: I love that we backtracked a bit with the beginning from where the previous story left off. I appreciate the theme on being a survivor and coming through depression. It was definitely different than the first book but it turned out well too.
Lady Boss: It’s rare to read a female billionaire romance. It was a bit unusual, but I liked it okay.
I’d say the first one was the best of the three.
Freya: I love the Hawaii setting. It’s definitely a tease of a short story pulling you to the Hot Tide series.

Experience the genius of Michele De Winton!
VALENTINE’S VENGEANCE
The obscenely talented Michele de Winton is back with a smashing novella! Cara Reynolds was waiting for her mother, Anna Brooks, at a restaurant, when Cara sees who her mother is talking to: Joe Diaz, Cara’s former beau cum enemy. Cara and Joe had a lovely relationship until he accused Cara of double-crossing him when he attempted to take over Anna’s company, and this without even knowing that Anna was Cara’s mother, and Cara left him. If it weren’t bad enough, Joe just bought the company where Cara works. Now, this will be awkward!
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen so much story packed into a novella, and written so seamlessly! VALENTINE’S VENGEANCE is a full novel within around a hundred pages, and what a book it is! Every character is fully fleshed-out and relatable; the story is solid and tightly plotted, and the dialogues are absolutely brilliant. Now, this is why I adore Michele de Winton: her stupendous, unique, colourful and dynamic writing style. How can you not love it when a character is described as “wafting and swanning”? It’s so vivid, and I couldn’t resist smiling, because it’s so representative of Anna. Ms. de Winton possesses a dazzling vocabulary and strings those wonderful words into the most glorious paragraphs.
VALENTINE’S VENGEANCE is a story swirling in colours and movement; it’s very fast-paced; witty and clever; funny and charming, and also genuinely sexy. Joe and Cara are an absolutely fabulous couple, their road to reconciliation is entirely believable, and the romance is perfection itself. Michele de Winton can make the tiniest, most mundane detail a work of wonder. Michele de Winton demonstrates once again that she has the art of writing novellas down pat. VALENTINE’S VENGEANCE is fantastic gift to get for Valentine’s Day or any day of the year! I loved it!
LOVE STUCK
Sarah “Sass” Hunt recently got fired, and now she’s starting out on her own as a stylist consultant. One month, and she’s about to have her first client. The husband of her best friend Cara recommended Sarah to his friend Kirk Anderson. Kirk is brilliant, owns a successful business, and he is dull. Kirk is launching a new software package, and for the press conference, he needs to dress for success, but also to impress as a person, and not just as a human calculator. Sarah has been evaluating Kirk on paper, and upon meeting her client, she is almost struck by a metaphorical bolt of lightning, and so is he. Sarah is so not what Kirk expected, with her modified Mohawk, but he thinks she has a certain something, until she pulls out clothing choices! Alas, they definitely don’t see eye to eye when it comes to sartorial decisions!
Talk about opposites attract! I admit, had I been in Kirk’s place, I would have been wary of Sarah too. I mean, a velvet jacket? Really? Michele De Winton’s trademark colourful prose shines and dazzles in LOVE STUCK, and I never expect anything less from this brilliant author. However I had serious problems with Kirk; he seemed fine at the beginning, if staid and stuffy, but he had a definitely rude and disrespectful moment that stuck in my mind, and personally, I would not have given him the time of day ever again. I would have made peace with him in the end and shut the door on the whole thing. Sometimes there are “issues” that I can overlook in a book, sometimes I can’t ignore them, and that was one of them. Also, the “electricity” between Sarah and Kirk was out of control here, and how the sexual relationship began required quite a bit of suspension of disbelief on my part. It had been looking up before that moment, but I felt it was too much too soon, and it ended in the misstep that I found rather unpalatable. Overall, it was a fun read, fast-paced and superbly written, with great dialogues, but the romance never worked for me, it’s a tad over the top. Or I might have been having a “Kirk Anderson” day (without the rudeness!).
LADY BOSS
Samantha Williams has fought long and hard to get where she is. Her company WilCo Enterprises is a great success, and she’s a billionaire. Tyson Jenkins has worked just as hard to get SUNLIT, his innovative solar technology company, where it is. But two shareholders are selling, and Samantha Williams bought SUNLIT. The worst part is that he had met Sam the woman, not Samantha the businesswoman, who left an indelible impression on him. What to do when the woman he lusts after is now his boss?
What a fabulous twist! She is the billionaire who holds all the cards! She is super tough but fair, and oh joy! he isn’t condescending, is not threatened by her sex, but he is angry to see his company sold. The chemistry was certainly there, but I couldn’t figure how they could ever be a couple, especially after the deed was done and complications arose. How do it succeed, may you ask? By having characters that behave like the professionals they are and by acting like rational businesspeople. There is also some groveling involved…
LADY BOSS is a novella on the shorter side and yet, nothing felt rushed. I got a good feel for the work environment and the technologies involved, and for Samantha and Tyson. There are sexy times, playful banter, as well as meaningful conversations. Because of the length, it’s more of a happy-for-now, which is logical, but there’s no doubt in my mind that it will be a happily-ever-after because all the elements are there: complicity, compromise, and most of all mutual respect. It’s wonderful to have a really strong heroine, and most of all to be shown that she is, not merely told. Tyson and Samantha form the sort of couple I wish we’d see more often in romance novels rather than the damsel in distress and the controlling knight in repulsive armour calling all the shots. This is what contemporary romance should be like. Well done, Ms. De Winton!
I had previously read all three novellas separately.
I give 4 ½ stars overall
