Bidding War Break-In is a fun, well-written cozy mystery. Every time Lily has the townhouse ready to sell, it is vandalized! With a couple of plot twists and a large pool of suspects, I never guessed the ending – which is always a plus! I really enjoy this series of mysteries.
Bidding War Break In by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson was another fun and captivating trip to Bramblett County, Georgia.
Lily and Belle are busy in this one trying to sell a townhouse, rescue Lily’s reputation from some very irate town residents who don’t want any more development in their town and vandalism that has also occured in the development. Ms. Aspenson’s plot is swiftly paced and quite complicated this time. Bonnie and Henrietta are back to help Lily and created a good many laughs for me as I read. I really enjoy this series and look forward to the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
Lily Sprayberry is trying to get Coach Trammell’s townhouse ready to sell. Part of the money will go for a scholarship for boys who play Lacrosse but don’t have enough money for college. Everything is ready to go, she puts up the listing and BANG! a bidding war breaks out. This is better than anything she or Belle could have hoped for. They schedule an open house for it, and hours before they are to show, someone vandalized the townhouse. It is a complete mess! Unfortunately, some agents came early and saw the shape of the townhouse and withdrew their bids. Lily thinks that everyone is against her because the townhouse was the only privately own place they hit. They did also do some minor damage to two businesses in the development, but not like the townhouse. Could Lily be right? The town doesn’t want to turn into a big city, the people like it just as it is. But there is something else going on here, that just isn’t adding up. Can Lily, Belle, and the sheriff department figure it out before someone gets hurt or worse? Oh and Dylan is up for re-election, could this harm his chances at keeping his job? After all, he is engaged to Lily. That is another thing Lily has to deal with, everyone wants to know when the wedding date is. Read the story to see exactly what is going on in this little town and who is the cause of it all. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
The late Coach Trammell’s sister is giving the money from the sale of his townhouse back to the local school for scholarships. Everyone should be thrilled and hope to see the house sell for a huge amount. Not so. The house keeps getting horribly vandalized and Lily is getting terrorized. Lots of action and lots of humor keep you hooked to find out what’s really going on. Wonderful characters return (Lily, Bo, Belle, Dylan, Matt, Bonnie, Henrietta, and Mille) and we meet some new ones. A great mystery and can’t wait to read more of Lily’s adventures (hint – wedding!)
This book is a wonderful continuation of the Lily Sprayberry series. Bramblett County, Georgia seems like a nice, friendly place to be at first glance, but sometimes the feisty residents turn on one another! In this book the residents are angry on their local Realtors, Lily and her partner and best friend Belle, because they are against development and progress moving into the county, interrupting their small-town charm, and are willing to do anything to stop it, including sabotaging their newest listing in a new development. The sales proceeds are to go to a scholarship fund for the local high school in honor of a new coach found murdered in the last book. There is a bidding war on his townhome, and although it means more money for the scholarships it causes all kinds of havoc in the town. A beautiful townhome is vandalized in protest of the development, or is there another reason for all this madness? I find myself cheering Lily on as she stands up to the snobbiest of snobs, and gets to the bottom of why some of the residents are so angry. A nice change to the average cozy mystery in that there is no actual murder, but I know Lily and Belle are tempted to commit murder themselves!
This was an enjoyable read and I actually finished it in one sitting. The characters were well drawn and believable. It was actually a mystery without a murder which was refreshing for a change! I now need to go back and read the earlier books in the series.
Lily Sprayberry is listing the townhome that was owned by the former high school lacrosse coach. It’s the only available unit in a very in-demand complex. As soon as the listing becomes active the offers start coming in for the unit and each bid is higher than the next.
The town seems upset with the development and blames Lily. Things start to turn nasty. As Lily sets up an open house the townhome is vandalized.
This is a great installment in the Lily Sprayberry saga. I can’t wait for more.
Fantastic addition to the Lily Sprayberry Realtor series! In this entertaining read, Lily is once again dealing with a mean girl group, but this is the wealthy elite mean ladies who can take it to the next level of crazy! Someone is trying to sabotage the new development outside of town, but who could be and are they going to take Lily out in the process? I will say that the villain was a bit easy to pinpoint in this story, but the why and how was a bit more complicated. It didn’t detract from the story a bit that I figured out who was behind the sabotage so early on. Some quite intriguing twists to keep the plot fresh, yet believable. Definitely a great choice to curl up and read the afternoon away with!
This cozy mystery has pure Southern charm. Carolyn Ridder Aspenson has a gift for creating remarkable and entertaining characters. Lily Sprayberry is my hero. I admire her strength, determination, and her truly kindhearted approach to all those around her. Henrietta and Bonnie exhibit profound zest and enthusiasm for life that every senior citizen should embrace. I highly recommend this book and series!
Bidding War Break in is Book 4 in the Lily Sprayberry Cozy Mystery Series.
When Lily Sprayberry lists her deceased client’s home for resale and the Atlanta realtors want the home for their richy clients and a bidding war ensues! So Lily sets up an open house but as luck would have it the home has been destroyed. Every time she tries to fix things, Lily runs into more trouble and it is looking like someone does not want her to sell this house.
This is a fantastic story! I love Lily’s character. The story is so well thought out and the mystery is great! I did not see the ending coming AT ALL. This book stands alone, but I would highly recommend reading the first 3 books in the series as they are equally as great.
Coach Trammell was murdered in the last book and thus this book picks up where Lily and Belle are selling his townhome. The house was left to his sister and she wants to sell it and use the money made to provide scholarships for needing students from the local school. The problem is people are not happy to see the price war occurring between buyers cause they don’t want their community growing. But is it really that or something else? As Lily schedules an open house, someone vandalizes the house, not once but again. Lily is targeted as the “one” who wants to change the community and thus she is the scapegoat to all things. What will happen to the house? To Lily? Any why won’t she pick a date for the wedding to Dylan? Then there is the Women of Society Club with all their secrets. They know what’s going on but not saying a word. Who is doing all the vandalizing? Why? This was a fun, cute, and clean read. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down. The characters were wonderful. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Criminals are no match for spunky realtors!
What is happening in the small southern town of Aspenson? Who would want to ruin Lily and Belle’s business? It is definitely the good guys against the bad guys in this more-than-just-a-murder mystery. On the team for the good guys: Lily and her best friend Belle, Sheriff Dylan and Deputy Matthew, Mille the fearless café owner, and the feisty four seniors (Bonnie Bass, Henrietta Harvey, Old Man Goodson and Billy Ray Brownlee). On the team for the bad guys we have more than I care to list here.
I love reading about Lily and her friends and their lives in the fictional southern small town of Aspenson in northern Georgia. Adding a little romance to the story is just icing on the cake.
An enjoyable and entertaining clean, fun, and easy read. On to book five of the series.
So glad nobody died in this one!
I love cozies but I was just recently thinking how burned out I’m getting on every one of them having to do with murders…especially in small towns. Then lo and behold Ms. Aspenson comes to the rescue with a cozy that doesn’t involve death! How refreshing! I’d much rather read a cozy mystery that has no death and simply a mystery to solve. That’s why I loved the Nancy Drew mysteries as a child. Great problem solving without all the death! I hope it becomes a trend! Great read!
Even without a murder, this is a great cozy mystery! Lily has a shot at a big sales commission, but someone has vandalized the property. The plot is complex and the characters well drawn. It was a pleasure to read and I’m looking forward to the next book. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Great book! I love reading about Lily, Belle, Dylan, and their charming Georgia town. Lily has listed former lacrosse coach, Carter Trammell’s, townhouse in the multi-use development and it suddenly starts a bidding war. Some of the local people are unhappy with growth coming to the town. When Lily’s open house is forced to be delayed due to vandalism, she is set out to find out what is going on. Later a local woman who had been against Lily disappears and Lily’s kitchen is set on fire. She has to catch a killer now. Such enjoyable characters and storylines! Excited to read the rest of this series!!
Bidding War Break In picks up shortly after the events in Signed, Sealed, and Dead. Lily and Belle are tasked with selling the townhouse of the recently deceased lacrosse coach, Carter Trammell. They are thrilled when a bidding war breaks out – it means more scholarship money for local student-athletes.
Not everyone in town is thrilled with the bidding war. As a matter of fact, someone has a vested interest in stopping the sale.
While Lily is relieved that she isn’t discovering more dead bodies, she is facing plenty of danger as she figures out who wants to stop the sale of Coach Trammell’s townhouse and why.
I really enjoyed Bidding War Break In. I love Lily and Belle – they are fun, relatable characters who I could imagine sitting down for a cup of coffee with. Bramblett County continues to be an excellent setting with just the right mix of familiarity and new spaces to discover.
Many thanks to Carolyn Ridder Aspenson for the opportunity to read and review Bidding War Break In.
Lily and Belle find themselves in a bidding war for one of their properties. What could go wrong? The girls are happy the proceeds will help some students from Bramblett County, the higher the price the better. Right? It’s never that easy for Lily. She finds herself in a mess. No dead bodies but terrible things happen. A good storyline. Lots of mystery and some laughs from Bonnie and Henrietta. Well written, lovable Characters All around enjoyable read
This book was okay not the best in the series but still enjoyable to read. I think the biggest thing with this series that I find annoying and it’s a personal opinion is Lily and Dylan’s relationship. I feel like we are back before the 1950s when nobody lived/slept over or anything like that before they married, this is the 21st Century and the books feels dated when it comes to their relationship. I mean most of the time Dylan kisses Lily on the forehead when saying bye to her and not a proper kiss, who does that? I know I’m getting way off topic with this book but their relationship bothers me that it is so old fashion. I sometimes feel like they are in their 50s or older and not in their 20s the way that they act. Hopefully the future books are better about their relationship. No one dies in this book but a lot of vandalizing happens. This book is still a good old small town cozy mystery.

I really enjoyed Bidding War Break In. This book is entertaining and fun. I like the characters. I love Lily more with each book in the series. She is strong and has spunk. The characters are quirky and humours. The mystery is interesting and suspenseful. It has many twists. I will be looking to read the next book in the series.
