A new slayer desperate to prove herself. A cursed vampire king waiting to be awakened. A kiss that would change everything.I’m Delia Adams, daughter of one of the greatest slayers to have ever come out of Mallory Falls. I’ve been beaten down, broken, and told I wasn’t good enough while training to follow in my father’s footsteps, but here I am, ready to set out on my first mission. The problem? … mission.
The problem? I’ve been tasked with killing the vampire king of Velum Mortis. Yeah, it kind of feels like I’m being set up to fail.
Now, standing in front of the slumbering king, desperate to prove myself, I prepare to shove my sword right through his heart and claim my first victory.
I’m a slayer. He’s a vampire. It’s my duty to kill him.
So then why is the urge to abandon my mission and kiss him so damn strong?

Loved it, really held my attention
Very disappointed in the language. I did not make it past the 3rd chapter. I’m sure the story would have been good, but nearly every page had the F*** word. Not in my interest. Sorry.
I loved it!
4 stars for Beyond the Veil by Stephanie Summers. This is book one in the Vampires of Velum Mortis series. This is my first book from this author but it won’t be my last. This is the story between Delia, a slayer and Liam, the vampire king. The book has this forbidden romance aspect to it. The book had everything I enjoy in a story. It had suspense, romance, betrayal, unpredictability, and so much more. The romance and chemistry between Delia and Liam can be felt while reading. I enjoyed every part of this story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
I really liked this story, since science fiction is my favorite topic to read. Just love all that stuff about the unpredictable fantasy vampires, demons, werewolves, and whatnot. One cool vampire king in this story and a cool vampire slayer. If you like science fiction stuff this book is for you.
An awesome take on the world of vampires and hunters. I highly recommend.
Almost too much action and twists in the storyline, obviously included to set up for more books. Left me strangely hoping for more character development, although there were plenty of it included. But it was enjoyable.
I liked this book, there were a few grammatical errors, but it wasn’t so distracting that I couldn’t enjoy the book.
Great series I’m on book 3 and its so good!!
I finished it, but it wasn’t anything spectacular. I didn’t care much about the characters, and the ending was silly. I’m not a fan of bad guys somehow always getting away to reappear over and over …. I’d call it an acceptable read for when you are killing time.
Trite. Juvenile. Predictable. Lame characters. Stephine, don’t quit your day job.
It the best book I ever read
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, and I hope it won’t be my last.
OMG!!! This story is gr8. A slayer sent to kill the vampire king only to kiss him instead. A vampire king who’s waited a thousand years for his mate. Good witches and bad ones. Wars and almost wars. So much happening throughout this story. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

I will be watching .for the next book to be out.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked it. This is an exciting adventure of shocking proportions. There are secrets, disappointment, falsehoods, attraction, betrayal, death, justice and everlasting love. There were so many unexpected twists and turns in the story that made it hard to put the book down. I was glued to each page. It reads at a medium to quick pace. It is not a long read and it is very entertaining. I did like both of the main lead characters and the villain in the piece was a surprise. The betrayal to the heroine was very sad. But the romance and chemistry between the main characters was HOT!!! I did enjoy reading this book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
She wants to follow in her father’s footsteps and be a slayer. She has been training for a very long time. They give her a really hard one the first time out. They have an ulterior motive for it too. A witch cursed a vampire king years ago and put him to sleep and she is the only way to wake him. She doesn’t know any of this. She is engaged to her trainer. There are a lot of complications. She falls for the vampire king and things get really exciting. It is fun, exciting, suspenseful, dramatic and so much more. I just loved this and hated to see it end. I received a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
