Two hot guys. One desert island.Troy Tanner walks out on his boy band’s world tour rather than watching his little brother snort his life away. Screw it. He’ll take a private jet home and figure out his life away from the spotlight. But Troy doesn’t make it home. The plane crashes on a jungle island in the South Pacific. Forget dodging the paparazzi—now Troy’s desperate for food and water. The … desperate for food and water. The turquoise ocean and white sand beach looks like paradise, but danger lurks everywhere. Thank God the pilot survived too. At least Troy’s not alone. He has Brian.
Brian’s smart and brave and strong. He doesn’t care that Troy’s famous. Brian’s real. As days turn into weeks with no sign of rescue, Troy and Brian rely on each other. They make each other laugh despite being stranded. They go from strangers to friends.
What happens when they want more?
Although he and Brian both identify as straight, their growing desire burns hotter than the tropical sun. If they explore their sexuality a thousand miles from anything or anyone, can their newfound love survive in the real world when they’re finally rescued?
This slow-burn LGBT romance from Keira Andrews features bisexual awakening, scorching exploration, an age gap, and of course a happy ending.

This was a fabulous story from Keira Andrews. It would make a great beach read for the summer!
An explosive read!
Two hot guys…
One desert island…
I love desert island/stranded reads and when I came across this gay stranded read, I knew I just had to dive in! And I’m so glad I did.
It was everything and more. Exceeded my expectations and provided an escape from real life.
Loved experiencing all their emotions and experiences with the guys.
Full of surviving, hurt, emotion, attraction, danger, family and love.
Perfect for readers of contemporary romances.
Golden Sands (an audio review)
I’m never quite sure what I’m going to get with a Keira Andrews audio. Oh, I know it’ll be amazing. I know I’ll love it. I know it’ll challenge me and – most importantly – I know I will be changed by it. One reason is she picks fascinating scenarios for her books. Two hot guys? One desert island? Uh, count me in!
Okay, so Troy is in a quandary. He’s part of a boy band with his younger brother. A brother who is snorting away his life. Troy went down this road with their father, and he refuses to do it again. And although he’s committed to the band, it isn’t the be-all and end-all for him. For his brother, though, it is. So when Troy takes a stand, he hopes his brother will smarten up. He decides to charter a flight from Australia to his home in LA where he can take stock. Regroup. Hopefully force his little brother to have a moment of realization.
Brian is also in a quandary. He used to be a pilot for a major airline industry. But a horrific accident has left him damaged. He took off to Australia to try to start over, but he just hasn’t been able to take control of the yoke. Once he and Troy crash on a deserted island and are thee only two survivors, Brian realizes their survival – or much of it – is going to be up to him. Troy has lived a pampered city life (at least after his breakout role in a television series leading to the creation of the boy band). Brian lived a far more mundane life – spending time with his grandparents including fishing with his beloved grandfather. And although it’s clear Troy’s brother, mother, girlfriend (whom he broke up with), and his adoring fans will miss him, for Brian it’s far more complicated. He has an ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend, but it’s doubtful they’ll do much more than sigh and move on with their lives.
Okay, so deserted island. Time to hunker down. Because they’re going to get rescued…right? Now, I’m not a fan of fish, papaya, or coconut, but I suspect if those were my only choices, my prima donna attitude would go out the window. These two guys have only their wits, Brian’s knowledge, and each other. And it’s the each other that makes things really interesting. This audio is a good length, so much of it is just ‘getting to know you’. The attraction is secondary to the friendship. It comes, but on a gentle breeze, not like the monsoon that took down the plane.
This is a love story, and it touched me. I suspected the men were going to get rescued, but the question was always – what now? Brian flies charter flights as first officer out of Australia, and Troy is a mega star living in the States. Talk about two different worlds. You’ll just have to listen to the book to find out if it works. And how.
Speaking of listening… Greg Boudreaux narrates this book and he was just perfect for it. He made the whole improbably situation seem plausible. He took Ms. Andrews words and made them into something special. So another great novel by Keira and I can’t wait for more.
One of the best books that i have ever read!
A hunky pilot and a famous boy-band muscian stranded on a tropical island – now whatever is going to happen 😉
Slow read at first…but enjoyable read
LOVED how these dudes handled their “situation”.
I bought this book as a change of pace from my cops and robers reading. I was very surprised to be enthralled by the story and the characters. Really a good read.
A surprising blend of realistic and romantic detail that twists a familiar plot line into something surprisingly enjoyable.
Gah! I swear I can’t count how many times I’ve said, “I don’t really like GFY” – but this is Keira Andrews & Greg Boudreaux, so I snagged it. And I loved it. Slooooww burn, but so well done. With a plane crash this has a great thriller/suspense aspect to create tension. It’s a nice mix of Brian & Troy fighting the elements, mourning their pasts, bearing their souls, joking and laughs, and beginning to love each other. It’s absolutely fiction, but so *real* at the same time.
I love Greg Boudreaux as a narrator. Honestly, there were a few times where I wish he had better differentiated Brian & Troy’s voices – but still a solid narration.
What a fabulous read. Two straight guys (both somewhat disenchanted with their lives) get stranded on a deserted island. This is truly a love is love story about how sometimes the bonds of love and life go beyond what a person expects. It was a GREAT story…a 39 yo pilot and a 28 yo member of a boy band…these guys were so different, but so perfect (eventually) together.
I loved this book. Lots of emotion, drama, and angst…and eventually, romance.
This was another really enjoyable read by Keira Andrews. She keeps surprising me with books I’m sure is not for me ending up being among my favorite reads. Beyond the Sea might not have been the best book for my anxieties but it ended up being an amazing love story.
An awful storm takes down the airplane Troy is on leaving him stranded on an Island with Brian, the co-pilot of the plane. What starts as a fight of survival ends up being the beginning of a love story neither Troy, nor Brian ever thought they would have. Especially since they both see themselves as straight. But being stranded on an Island, not knowing if you will be rescued or not gives them no choice but to trust each other and soon that trust leads to feelings. And feelings leads to an epic love story.
There’s two things making this a 4 star rating and instead of a five star rating:
There’s some almost sex happening that’s M/F. It’s not much, almost nothing but you guys knows how I feel about that in my M/M books. There should be a warning about that in the blurb or something, but then again, maybe it was good that there wasn’t any. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up.
The second thing was the totally unnecessary running away instead of talking about your feelings Brian did. I never like those.
But neither of that made me put the book down. It was way too good for that.
Very realistic. Everyone dreams of being stranded on a desert island with their love. But does anyone think of the crearutes that live there or the hardships? It would destroy most relationhips. And strengthen others… Loved it will read it again
At first I was confused because the cover was almost exactly the same as another book by a different author and covers are my first impression. So I almost didn’t check it out because I thought I had already read it. Once I realized I had not I found it to be a lovely story of finding love in the most unlikely places.
Loved this book! A wonderfully exciting desert island adventure. A real study in friendship. A must read for all who appreciate gay romance. This one was just beautiful in every way!
