This isn’t my typically type of book, but it kept my interest. This is the second book in the series, and I recommend it. YOU will have to mentally prepare yourself for this book. It will bring you back to the tragic and horrible attacks on 9/11. The emotion is strong with this book.
Atlanta’s Lake Lanier is a mysterious dangerous place. This book two in series does not disappoint. Intrigue, danger, menace, love, regret, fear, all the emotions are visited, many times. Well written, interesting time travel, full of twisty turns. Characters are developed and very sympathetic. Recomended.
WOW!!! Casi McLean Did Not Disappoint in BEYOND THE MIST!! It was an Suspenseful Epic story that will Leave speechless and takes place around the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Again with the unique time traveling adventure and takes you to the darkest times that is So complex with the past or the future constantly changing.
The moment I started reading, I Could Not Put It in Down and devour this book like the First one- BENEATH THE LAKE. But can be read as a Standalone however it helps you better understand if you read the first one of the series.
Beyond the Mist has the EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER ride of TWISTS AND TURNS INTO the UNKNOWN!
I TOTALLY recommend this Series!!
I’m looking forward to Reading the 3rd book in this Series- Between the Shadows.
Nick has the ability to travel back in time to the days of 9/11. The book has a wild plot and the readers soon find out his motives are selfish, I like the imagination of the book, but it was hard for me to get into the plot. Nick hitches a ride on the time machine without the inventor’s permission and screws up the future. Truly, if you like zany and crazy, this is the book for you. The writer describes two strong characters which make the book interesting of unfortunate and fortunate events to take the couple on a ride through space and time.
I’m so glad that I stumbled across this series, each book is great. I loved the time travel element and how each story is a stand alone yet tied together by the Lake and its mysterious portal. This book is the story of Piper and Nick. Nick is set on a traveling back to correct past mistakes but his time travel might just ruin rather than fix. A well written story with rich development and an intriguing plot. I can’t wait to read more by Casi McLean.
Beyond The Mist was amazing, intense and really rugged at my heart strings. It was easy to read and sucked me into the story from the very first page. This was Nick and Pipers story. This had to a difficult book to write. The author filled the pages with lots of information pertaining to the life changing events of 9/11. This was an area where I sobbed. I had a hard time reading what the 2 main characters felt and saw on that fateful morning. I couldn’t imagine standing at ground zero, knowing that thousands of people were going to lose their lives. It would of driven me insane knowing this and not being able to tell anyone about it. I loved how in the end that Nick finally learned what became of Carly. Piper knew that Nick was the love of her life. It took him a bit longer to figure all that out.
I’m looking fwd to reading “Between The Shadows” it’s the third book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series.
This story was a little emotional. Reading about time traveling back to a place and time so catastrophic in order to try save someone is pretty heady stuff. 9/11 was a huge event in our culture, and it was tough to walk through in this book. It was also uplifting reading about those who jumped into action. It was all tied into a love story, and the realization that unfortunately we can’t go back and change the past. We can only embrace it and attempt to fix it for our future.
This is the 2nd book by Casi McLean that I have read and enjoyed. Written as a sequel in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series (it can be read as a stand alone) this tells the story of Piper and Nick, following along with the mystery of the lake and it’s hidden portal this time travel book is a fascinating and gripping read. You won’t be disappointed. Recommended for anyone that likes a good mystery, suspense, romance and time travel story.
This story was great. It starts right where the first book ends. We get our amazing characters again with a new and more intriguing plot.
Piper has to go back in time to look for Nick her love who hijacked the machine to try and fix his past. After she arrives she has to find him and stop him from disturbing time. This storyline is a little more complex than book one but very good as well.
They author covered a very delicate topic in a very respectful manner. I enjoyed this book pretty much.
The twists. The turns. The change in time lines. An excellent time travel romance story. Book 1 was good, this one was almost better.
Beyond the Mist follows on the Reynolds family and the idea of time travel through a porter in Lake Lanier.
In the first story Piper meets Nick through her best friend Lacey and the 2 have an instant connection. In this book Nick manages to travel back to 9/11 to try to save a girlfriend from his past, he’s always felt guilty and blamed himself over her death as they had an argument the night before 9/11 and she stormed off from his apartment. However, all little changes affect the future and Nick changes the past enough that Lacey is no longer saved in the future. Piper goes back to help Nick and to stop him altering the future too much. A good book but as with all time travel mucks with your head.
