Adventure waits beyond the loch… Before she became known as the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie was nothing more than a simple kelpie with big dreams. When her chance for adventure comes, she grabs it with both hands, sending her to the depths of the ocean and mountain peaks. Though none of that compares to what awaits her heart when she meets a human who still believes in magic…This story takes … believes in magic…
This story takes place before the Seven Wardens series but can be read as a standalone novella. There is no cliffhanger.

This is a prequel to the seven warden’s series. It is a spin on the “loch ness monster” AKA aunt nessie from the warden series. This book explaines some of the thing hinted at in the book. It is how she meets Jonas her husband and gives up her daughter to her sister to raise. It gives great back ground for the other series. Must read for people who have read that series or want to read it.
Another prequel to the “7 Wardens”. This time it tells Nessie’s story and how she met Jonah. If you have read tdhe 7 Wardens, then you are familiar with Nessie at a later stage, living more with the humans than with her fellow kelpies, and still missing her Jonah.
This story will fill in a few gaps from the 7 Wardens, but it can also be read as a stand-alone story, a wonderfuls story full of myths and magic.

If you’ve read the Seven Wardens series then you know who Aunt Nessie is and if you are like me you always wanted to know her story too. Loved learning more about Nessie and how she became who she is. Looking forward to reading more books by this amazing author duo.
A great addition to the Seven Wardens series, “Beyond the Loch” is a prequel featuring aunt Nessie. The story gives us a lot of background information on her and Macey and answers questions that readers of the Seven Wardens books may have. A quick but highly enjoyable book.

If you loved the original series this book helps give you an understanding of one of the other side characters and what happened before their world’s went sideways.

This story was a quick read. I got to learn about Nessie and her love, Jonas. Got to see her find the sea kelpies and the world. Glad to have read it now, after book 6 of the Seven Wardens series.
It’s a good story, but it leaves so many holes in the plot. The epilogue is just plan frustrating– why are the Wardens dead? Why was there a war? I know it’s a prequel book, but it’s almost like it needs a prequel to it and then a sequel before the Seven Wardens series starts to fill in the blanks of the rushed epilogue.

This is the 5th book I’ve read written Skye MacKinnon/Laura Greenwood; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

All About Aunt Nessie’s Past
If you’ve read any of the books in the author’s Seven Wardens series, you are familiar with Aunt Nessie. This novella details the important incidents in her young life. These have been mentioned or hinted at in the other books of the Seven Wardens series, her time with the sea kelpies as well as the meet-cute and relationship with Macey’s father. We also see why she had to give Macey up and the pain that caused her. If you’ve enjoyed the Seven Wardens series, you’ll love Aunt Nessie’s story.
The book has the common issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage. Commas were particularly problematic. They weren’t always used between independent clauses in a compound sentence, and oddly enough, there was one instance where a comma stood between an adjective and its noun.
But this didn’t detract from the story. I quite enjoyed reading about Nessie’s past.
I received a free advance copy, but this did not affect my review.
I have always wondered about Ness’s story while reading the seven wardens, and now we know. This story clarifies everything for me.
You need to read the whole seven warden series before this one to really understand everything.
A great imagination from these authors.
I loved this story about how Nessie and her husband, Jonas, met.
Nessie is curious and wants to know more about the world. She also hopes to find out how to stop her shifting from being so painful. Along the way, she meets a human, Jonas, who is very curious about the supernatural.
This is a short story, but it fills in a lot of the blanks from the Seven Wardens series. We learn about Nessie’s youth and how Macey comes to be the Empress of the Sea Kelpies. It’s just another teaser to entice us readers for the final book.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
