Her past is a string of bad choices. Is falling for a wanted ex-gang member one more?
Hiding from her troubled past, Jules Demski sequesters herself in the mountains of Eron, Colorado, the only place she’s ever felt safe. Her solitude is shattered when an injured man staggers into her family’s barn. Burned once and still in repair, the last thing she needs is another criminal on her hands. If … in repair, the last thing she needs is another criminal on her hands. If she can only convince her heart of this, she just might be able to resist the interloper’s charm.
Former gangster Lorenzo Macedo has cleaned up his act, but now he’s running for his life. He stumbles upon a barn just as a bullet pierces his body.
Jules appears standoffish and cold, but the tender way she nurses Lorenzo reveals a soft-hearted, passionate woman aching for her own wounds to be healed. No woman has ever set his blood on fire like Jules, but he has nothing to offer her except a life on the run.
Can Jules and Lorenzo find redemption in the small town, or are their lives Beyond Repair?

Jules and Lorenzo’s story was beautiful!! And while, yes, I’m talking about the sweet romance developed between those two, I’m especially referring to how the author presented the work God wanted to do in their lives, healing them from their past, and learning to accept and depend on His forgiveness and grace.
As always, it was nice getting to see past characters (like Sophia and Trevor, or Chloe and Zach) as well as some “new” ones like Jules’ dad, Eli. The descriptions were gorgeous as ever, and they truly made me want to visit Eron in the fall/winter. There’s also an element of suspense since Lorenzo is trying to leave his past with the gang behind, but I think the focus of the book is more on the romance.
The narrator did a great job with all the different voices, and I loved how one could distinguish them when it was an all-girls (Chloe, Sophia, and Jules) conversation, for example. As with previous books in the series, she was spot on with the accents, in this case, Lorenzo’s, since he’s from Brazil. I also loved her smooth tone, as well as her acting the different nuances of the characters throughout the book. The only thing that ever felt “off” was around Ch. 18 or 19 I think when a certain scene was introduced in the middle of a different, ongoing one, making the timeline for that chapter seem odd.
Overall, a beautiful Christian story with a dash of suspense, brought to life by a really talented narrator. Great continuation to the series but can also be read as a standalone. Completely recommended! ~ 5 stars
I enjoyed this sweet and clean book. Some of the characters were introduced in a previous book but this can stand alone. I enjoyed the journey of faith that was portrayed in this story. The characters were well developed and each had their own problems and victories. The plot moved along well and had enough suspense in it to keep you listening.
The narrator did a good job with this, which made you feel as if you were connecting with each character.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, however, I am voluntarily leaving this review.
Wow! I was hooked from the beginning! Two broken people who come together and help each other heal with the Lords help! SO good! I loved Jules and Lorenzo and the story was fabulous!
Book three in the Eron Outsiders series a well written story that held my interest until the end. Former gangster Lorenzo Macedo and Jules Demski’s story of suspense, drama, danger, and Gods love and guidance when it is asked for from this couple. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lorenzo and Jules meet in her barn, both full of painful history and he had been shot by his old gang when he refused to come back to them after getting out of prison. She nurses him back to health and as they talk, thy realize that they both have had their emotions ripped apart and more. It takes one to understand one. They slowly start to open and have feelings again. So many twists and surprises come at them but their true friends ground them. Great ending to the story.

This book reminds us that no one is beyond God’s repair and salvation, that where sin abounds His grace is far more abundant. I enjoyed the story of Lorenzo, a former gang member, and Jules, who was reluctant to trust and believe. Their love story is so beautiful!

This book was about two broken souls who were not beyond repair. Lorenzo and Jules both had pasts they were trying to deal with and overcome so they could be the person that God wanted them to be. It was interesting how they met and how Lorenzo helped Jules find her way back to God and forgiveness. This was a touching story of love and faith. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
A wonderful story that kept my heart pounding a bit as I was watchful of what would happen next. I liked the caregiver role and the banter between our mains. I really enjoyed reading this romance and watching our characters learn to cling to God and put away their pasts.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story has a lot of intrigue and mystery; but most of all, it tells of God’s love and forgiveness. It doesn’t matter how badly we are broken, God will forgive us. All we have to do is ask. If you are looking for a Christian romance, this is definitely a book to read.
This was a great story about romantic love and our Savior’s love. The perfect love that can forgive and love endless. I love how these 2 who both felt broken and beyond repair, found forgiveness and love in the Savior. Great story.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, but this is my honest opinion I give by choice.
This story is centered around the forgiveness and grace of Christ! When Lorenzo leaves prison it didn’t take long for his relationship and dedication to Christ to be put to the test! Being found by his former gang immediately I was encouraged to see his commitment to living outside the criminal world stand strong! When he ended up in the barn, shot, we began to see the true character of Jules come out as she tended his wound. They both had a past that gave them reason to doubt whether God would forgive them. I really loved the way Jules was able to see how much God had changed Lorenzo in spite of the things he had done. While she had Christian people all around her who had always shared that God is waiting to forgive anyone-no matter what they have done in their lives she couldn’t see it in a way that allowed her to let the walls down she had built through the years. As she helped Lorenzo physically they developed a closeness it took for her to begin to open up and trust. I love the way this story mirrors many people in life. It often takes a person who has been broken in much the same ways to be able to come along side someone and show them the truth of God’s love and longing to forgive. This also showed that as with many people there are consequences to some of the things we do. Lorenzo had to deal with his former gang in order to be free to live a life with Jules. I think this book is a very real look at life woven into a beautiful love story between the awesome characters of Lorenzo and Jules! I recommend it to anyone, especially someone who may be struggling with the forgiveness of God!
When making bad choice after bad choice, how can things change? Lorenzo has paid the price for his choices and wants to turn the page. While in prison, he meets the One who can make that possible. Unfortunately his past isn’t easy to escape…. well, the people in his past aren’t easy to evade.
Lorenzo now is free, but is he really? Can he overcome the people in his past? He learns that with G_d all things are possible, thus enters Jules into the picture who also has a speckled past. Their coming together sure isn’t easy. Again, choices have to be made…. and not easy choices.
This is a wonderful book showing forgiveness and redemption alongside choices made and their consequences. It shows broken people can be healed, can be redeemed and can change. It won’t be easy. Real life isn’t easy and this book doesn’t take the easy way out. There is suspense, there is conflict and there are more choices to make.
If you like realistic fiction which shows real life scenarios and the courage it takes to heal and change, then this book is for you. Choices have consequences…. both good and bad. Not all choices are easy and often cause collateral damage that can follow throughout the years. But, as this book shows, we have One who redeems and forgives and gives us the strength to overcome.
This book was so good! It is full of action, suspense, drama, romance and God’s forgiveness. It is well written and will keep you turning the pages. If you like Christian suspense with a powerful message, you will love this book.
I loved this book!!! Jules and Lorenzo have both done things they aren’t proud of. Jules decides to hide. Lorenzo is trying to live out the faith he now has in Jesus, and that means he’s now running. When he stumbles into Jules life, they both realize that the other is someone they don’t want to lose. But, how can they stay in each other’s lives? Once they figure out that they love each other, and that God has accepted Lorenzo and is changing him, and can love Jules and change her, too, watch out!!! This is such a great book, showing how God can take our broken lives and make something beautiful when we are truly repentant and give our lives to Him!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
“Let’s trust that God has forgiven us – given us another chance to do things right.” “Another chance,” she whispered, nodding. “Broken, but not beyond repair.”
Beyond Repair, the third installment in author Rose Fresquez’s Eron Outsiders series, is a beautiful tale of redemption, forgiveness, and discovering God’s constant grace. This novel can easily be read as a standalone novel, but after reading Beyond Repair, now I want to go back and read the first two books in the series!
Rose Fresquez creates a realistic storyline of an ex-gang member who is ready for a fresh start after being released from prison, but finds himself in harm’s way after his former gang tries to force him back into that dangerous and criminal lifestyle. Although I personally wouldn’t be trusting enough to let a stranger stay in my house after being shot, especially after finding out that he had been previously in jail, I truly appreciated the heroine Jules’ determination to nurse Lorenzo back to health, and Lorenzo’s honesty and desire for repentance of his past sins.
I am so glad that I discovered Rose Fresquez’s books earlier this year. I love the diversity of her characters and her sweet small-town Christian romances. If you haven’t read any books by Rose Fresquez yet, this is the perfect opportunity!
Beyond Repair is recommended for readers of inspirational contemporary romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
This book shows no matter how far gone we are, there is always hope. Our past choices don’t determine how we live today.
Lorenzo just spent years in jail and freedom is sweet until he ends up on the run from his old gang.
Jules doesn’t trust easily but when she finds a man bleeding in her barn she knows she has to help.
Can two broken people overcome the past to make a future? Will a newfound faith bring them together?
5 Star
This is a book that started out with a man looking for revenge, but God had other plans.
Good book!
First, I love the stories I’ve read by this author.
This book was a sweet, but powerful book about forgiveness and another chance.
I love how sweet and helpful Lorenzo was. I like Eli a lot too – maybe he needs his own story?
Overall it is a very satisfying read.
You’ll enjoy the book!
Sometimes are past comes back to haunt us or invades into our present. Lorenzo wants desperately to start a new life but… Jules long for peace. These two characters have suffered much in their lives but have found hope in the Lord. They make such a great couple and bring encouragement to each other. Their is an element of suspense and danger that kept me reading. Loved Eli, Jule’s dad. Forgiveness is hard to accept and give. This book was thought provoking in regard to forgiveness. I listened to this book on audible. The narrator did a great job switching voices.
Although this book can be read as a standalone, it is better to be read as part of the Eron series. To me this book was about finding God, forgiveness, redemption and ever lasting love. Lorenzo is released from prison because he is finally found innocent of the crime he was convicted for committing. The detective who helped prove him innocent also led Lorenzo to God and to learn that God would forgive him for all his past sins. While Lorenzo is trying to make a go of going straight, some members of his old gang show up and try to force him to return. Instead, Lorenzo makes a run for it, gets shot and hides in a barn.
Jules comes home from work and while feeding the wild rabbits that live near her barn she hears a noise and finds Lorenzo. She gets him to her home and treats his wound. She then calls Trevor, her cop friend who also happens to be Lorenzo’s rescuer. While Lorenzo is recovering, he and Jules grow closer together, but each of them also feels broken beyond repair.
Read this heartwarming story and learn if Jules and Lorenzo can get through all of their heartache to be ‘repaired’ by their faith in God and find a future together in Eron.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
