From USA Today bestselling author Autumn Jones Lake.
Blood doesn’t make you family, loyalty does.
As the treasurer of the Lost Kings MC, I have a reputation for two things—telling it like it is and handling my responsibilities. At the age of ten I was already my baby sister’s sworn protector. At eighteen, I patched into the Lost Kings MC and took a major role in shaping our club’s future. The … sworn protector. At eighteen, I patched into the Lost Kings MC and took a major role in shaping our club’s future.
The Lost Kings MC runs through my blood and I’d die for my club.
Three years ago, I thought I’d met the perfect woman, only to have her reject everything I am—a Lost King.
One bullet is a lifetime supply.
Now, after an accident that left me almost crippled, I’m struggling through the darkness. Even though I’m lashing out at everyone I love, my baby niece, little sister, and my Lost Kings MC family are the only things holding me together. Eventually, my big mouth and my reckless actions are bound to drive everyone away.
Then, in the most unlikely place, I cross paths with her again.
Love soothes our inner demons.
The spark’s still there—for both of us, even if she won’t admit it and even with my many demons still hot on my tail.
Turns out, she’s not who I thought she was.
But she is the true ride or die girl I need by my side.
Love is worth the chaos.
As our relationship grows, I stop lashing out at my brothers, only to start lying to them instead.
When they find out who I’m falling in love with, it will create a storm of chaos for my club.
But if there’s one thing my turbulent life has taught me, it’s that sometimes love is worth the chaos.

One of the best series out there. I love this author and she never disappoints!
A Passionately Vulnerable Installment, Truly Captivating… “Beyond Reckless” is the tenth installment and eighth, full-length book of Autumn Jones Lake’s Lost Kings MC Series. It is the first half of Teller and Charlotte’s story. And it is a book containing two surprises not before present in any of the previous LOKI books.
Surprise one, Charlotte herself! For those who have read (or are reading) through the series book-by-book like me, you will remember Charlotte from book two, “Corrupting Cinderella”. She appeared several chapters in, where she was introduced to readers as Heidi’s legal custodian, appointed to guard her interests during Teller’s bid to gain custody of her from their abusive grandmother. Our encounter with Charlotte was fleeting as she appeared only a handful of times, and for all intents and purposes read like an incidental character written in merely to move the custody story line along. However, as I have come to learn, any character introduced by Lake is never merely incidental.
I have to admit, this coupling caught me a bit off guard. As unlike other pairings within the LOKI universe it isn’t an obvious one, or one that even makes sense. However, after reading through to the end I realized the brilliance of it. She is the exact opposite of what he normally attaches himself to. But through this unlikely connection with her, and their interactions together as a couple, we truly see Teller, the man, as well as, the full extent of the guilt, pain, angst, and turmoil lurching around within him. Through Charlotte we are finally able to see the real Teller. And chapter by chapter what appears before you on the page is so thick with emotion you feel it kick in your gut. So passionate is Lake’s prose here, you feel the fear, guilt, shame, anger, and hurt roll off the pages in waves, as if Teller himself were standing in front of you. And his vulnerability, in turn, allows Charlotte to begin to dissect and understand her own demons. Because holy plot twist batman! She has a DOOZY of a demon in her pocket!
Which leads me to the second surprise; unlike her other LOKI installments, this one has a pretty big plot twist concerning Charlotte that affects everyone and everything. And as a result, this book does not contain her typical “happy for now” ending and instead has a non-standard cliffhanger-ish ending. And holy hell what an ending it is! It will stun you! So stunning in fact, taking the time to write this review instead of diving right into book nine… Very. Fricken. Difficult. I am literally vibrating in my office chair as I type this!
The excitement within me by the end of this book is delightful. Kudos to Lake for keeping this pairing covert, it’s a cunning left turn that titillates deliciously and makes you yearn for more.
It also cemented for me the reasons I love Lake for keeping Lost Kings a linear series. Every book forward connects to something previously written and deepens your overall understanding of the LOKI universe at large and all the players within it. By avoiding the call for stand-alones, and instead choosing to stay true to her characters, their lives, and the realistic intertwining that comes along with an organization as big as this club would be in real life. You are afforded the ability to grow with the series, gain a deeper, more heartfelt connection to the characters, their connections with each other, their importance in each other’s lives, and how everything with the club connects, intertwines, and breaths. You are able to see the Lost Kings as the living, breathing, bleeding and ever changing entity it is rather than being forced to piece things together blindly as is often the case with series’ put out as stand-alones.
I am a reader who greatly prefers, needs the intense connection to the story at hand. I need to be able to identify with it, relate to it, and feel it in my soul as if I were there on the page with the characters. Stand-alone books make such a connection difficult, and I personally don’t care for them. Now, on to book nine!!!
He is dealing with guilt over the past.. She made it clear what she thought of motor cycle club life., but he wanted her
Will they make it ? Will he brothers approve of their relationship? Will her family tear them apart?
Autumn writes so in depth with her characters you can’t help getting lost in her stories
I just loved these books, I have read all but the last one. I was so educated about bikes and clubs! I really didn’t want to stop reading to go to bed.
Kinda predictable but really well fleshed out. I’m disappointed that it’s a duet so be aware of that going in. Still totally worth the read
Part one of a two part story about Teller. I really wish I had waited for part two, which will be released October 31. I enjoyed the story and was surprised by the woman that he finally ends up with. I’ve already pre-ordered part two of the story that will complete Teller’s story.
love it
Autumn has done a great job with beginning Teller’s and Charlotte’s story. Both of them are strong and profound characters to have overcome so much in their lives.
Must read the series
This is Teller’s story. Wow!!! I didn’t see the twist coming in this book. I can’t wait for part 2!!!
I LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E!!!!! ALL of the LOKI books. Autumn has a way of really making you feel like you know these characters. (And her since apparently I’m on a first name basis) I love that these guys are tough but have such big hearts. A great series to escape to!
This one gutted me! Teller has worked so hard taking care of his sister. When he meets someone and tragedy strikes get the kleenex ready! He finds someone that doesn’t seem like she will fit with the club..we shall see. Love Teller and loved this book!
Was so excited when this book was released as teller is one of my favourite characters from the lost kings mc and autumn didn’t disappoint with this book it was everything and more
The Lost Kings MC will forever be my favorite MC series. I thought Rock was amazing, then it was Wrath and next Murphy. Now it’s all about Marcel Teller and wow did he woo me in every freaking way. His character has always hit a soft spot with me because of his difficult childhood and him raising his sister Heidi. Then what what happened to him in More Than Miles which left him a broken man was excruciating and hard to read and watch. I just wanted him to be happy with his club and maybe a strong woman in his life. In Beyond a Reckless it definitely looks like he found her.
Teller and his woman are perfect together and I didn’t expect it but I totally ship them. They complement each other and she is strong whenever he need her to be. I loved seeing them together and their chemistry is combustible. So hot and she knows exactly what she wants in bed and isn’t afraid to voice it. He is so caring and sweet not only to his woman but to his sister and niece.
The conflict that is brewing is great and intertwine the story flawlessly.
Beyond Reckless is part 1 and in a duet and I need the sequel now. I enjoyed and loved being back with my gang and LOKI family. This was just the appetizer and I’m so prepared for the entrée. Autumn Jones Lake delivers a smash yet again.
I really liked this book! It was sexy, exciting, surprising & infuriating at times. Charlotte & Teller had sizzling chemistry & were totally meant to be.
Teller… Ok, he said & did some seriously jerkface things to Heidi & Murphy but with the way he behaved in the past, I kind of expected it. I mean, I wish he showed a bit more maturity but it didn’t completely turn me off of him, like it seemed to do to other readers.
I very much enjoyed the relationship between him & Charlotte. He didn’t push her away (like SO many guys do), he manned up where his feelings were concerned & he worshiped her body like a boss. But dude… loved that you bought a new bed for her place but you also should’ve bought one for your room in the clubhouse. Makes me itchy just thinking about that one. #yuck
Charlotte… I liked this woman. She was intelligent, strong & not stuck-up at all, like so many assumed she’d be. Super intrigued about her past experiences with the Wolf Knights… there’s a secret she’s holding back & I can’t wait to find out what it is! Too bad her Uncle Chuck is such a pain in the butt. He totally gives me the heebie jeebies when he rubs up on her! Her #GingerPower with Murphy though… Loved it.
Like I mentioned above, it was very sexy. The best thing was that it was sexy without feeling redundant. I didn’t skim the steamy scenes (like I did in Wrath & Trinity’s books), I devoured them. I loved the breath play & variety!
Curious how things will turn out with the whole babysitting-a-porn-star thing. But… not really looking forward to it because those b****es be crazy. Let’s just keep that crap in Sway-ville.
Didn’t much care for that ending though. It obviously wasn’t a HEA but it didn’t even feel like a HFN… more just straight-up cliffhanger-y. (Not my jam.) Lucky for me, Part 2 is already out. On to Beyond Reason! 🙂
P.S. Ok, so I see who Grace more than likely belongs to… Now let’s make it happen! This series needs some buns in the oven, STAT!!
P.P.S. B**** move for Trinity to go tattle on Charlotte. Rude of her to blurt out what she did but seemed out of character for Trinity to act like that.
