Until Declan Riley falls into her arms…
literally.
His tattoos and his Irish accent are enough to melt her panties
His diagnosis? That’s enough to break her heart.
But Tess can help him get the care he needs…
All she has to do is marry him.
Declan knows he should keep Tess at arm’s length.
What they have is temporary. Necessary.
And he knows from experience just
how dangerous getting close can be.
But the longer he’s around the smart, sexy doctor and her son,
the more Declan realizes
close isn’t enough.
He wants Tess. He wants it all.
Even if he has to do the one thing he swore he never would to have her.
From USA Today best-seller Kimberly Kincaid comes an older woman/younger man marriage-of-convenience story full of sizzle and sass. This full-length romance features an Irish American Air Force veteran-turned-model and a take-no-crap attending physician finding out if fairy tales really do come true.

I like Tess so so much!
“Beyond Just Us” is the fourth and final book in the Remington Medical series and wow, what a way to end a series. This is the story of Tess Michaleson, head of the ER department, and Declan Riley who has been honorably discharged from the Air Force and is now a successful model. Tess is not expecting the Irish tattooed hottie to fall into her arms, but that is exactly what he does. From there finding out what is wrong with Declan is heartbreaking and he needs help that Tess can give him, all they have to do is get married. Tess has it all figured out, a marriage of convenience, no way to get your heart broken and afterwards life will return to normal. Yeah, let’s see how that works out!
I think this is my favorite book in the series, cannot wait to see what Kimberly Kincaid comes up with next.
Five “Irish” stars for this one, only because it won’t let me give more!!
I loved this book! Fun interesting characters in a wonderful enjoyable storyline.
This book will give you all the feels. Single mom, ER doc Tess Michelson has her hands full when Declan Riley, the swoon worthy, romance cover model, falls at her feet. Great ending to the Remington Medical series, I really enjoyed reading this book.
I’m not sure why it took me so long to give Kimberly Kincaid’s Remington Medical books a shot. Her Cross Creek books have always ranked high on my list of favorite reads. Nevertheless, I was late to the party, so I just binged the series this past week and loved all 4 of the books. (I had actually read the novella Baby, It’s Cold Outside last year during the holidays and still didn’t pick up the rest of the books!)
I’ll have to confess I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy and show my age at the same time by sharing that I was a die-hard ER fan. The Remington Medical books were a great mix of steamy, angsty romance, incredible friendships, and fast-paced ED scenes that took me back to the Doug and Carol days of ER. I loved Connor in Between Me and You—definitely my favorite Remington guy, but I think Beyond Just Us was my favorite story. I loved the relationship that developed between Declan and Tess.
When I find a series I love it is so hard for me to try and pick a favorite book from the series because I end up loving all the characters so much! That is where I am with my feelings after finishing this amazing book. I loved Tess & Declan’s (and baby Jackson’s) story so very much so I will say it is tied with the others for my favorite. There that’s a cop out from having to make a choice, go me. I love single parent tropes and I also love marriage of convenience tropes. Put them together and add an interesting reason as to why the marriage of convenience is necessary and I am on cloud nine loving the story from beginning to end. I truly enjoyed this story so much and my heart is so full. This is by far my favorite series from Ms. Kincaid. I loved it!!!!
Our dreams have come true! With book four in her much loved Remington Medical series Kimberly Kincaid is finally bringing us the story we’ve all been clamoring for. Tess Michaelson has been on my mind since the very first book in the series when she was giving birth with her best friend by her side instead of her husband. I knew there was going to be a story there … and while it didn’t give us as much of the dirt on Alec as I might have hoped for, it delighted in so many other delicious ways!
Tess is a confident, self-assured woman who doesn’t need anything other than her son, her job and her friends … but watching her fall hard for what she claims to not want is pure magic.
Declan is all the swoony goodness. He’s got the accent, the gorgeousness, the kind heart and a back story that has us from hello. While I don’t fully think the story was medically accurate in a few ways, it was easy enough to enjoy the meat of the romance and let that slide.
I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the series to anyone who enjoys a close-knit group of friends who look out for each other and welcome the mates into their fold as each of them find their happily ever afters. It’s medical based, but it’s not gory. I adored the entire series!
4.5 Stars
It’s hard to believe this is the last book in the series. I’m so sad to see this series come to end. It ended as good as it started. I gobbled this book right up. I’ve been looking forward to Tess’ book. It’s everything I wanted and then some. It blew my expectations. Declan is just oh so yummy. His description along with his Irish accent just painted a dreamy picture. Then you add in how he is with Tess’ son and Tess herself, swoon! Tess and Declan have a marriage of convenience, but you can’t deny what is brewing between them. This book delivered on all the feels. This book left my heart happy sighing though it shed a tear to see this series wrap up. I still love how close all the medical staff is. That’s what made me fall in love with this series. The camaraderie between them makes me want to join this group of friends. When you start this book be prepared to be reading well into the night. It’s hard to put down.
Dr. Tess Michaelson needs sleep. And maybe another 7 hours in a day. But she definitely does not need a husband anymore. She has been there, done that and has the “t-shirt” thanks to her ex, Douche Kanoo, Esq. She doesn’t need romance – Tess gets her daily dose from the romance novels she acquires from her co-worker, and friend, Connor. The fact that the cover model for those books is smoking-hot only adds fuel to Tess’s lustful dreams. So imagine how the line between those dreams and reality blur when Hottie Cover Model literally falls into Tess’s arms!
I really was not sure how Ms. Kincaid was going to give Tess her HEA. She seemed so jaded, so sarcastic, and just so busy! So, when I saw in the blurb there is a “marriage of convenience” involved – ah, yeah, I could see that. It is not my favorite trope, but I could totally see the practical Tess coming up with this solution to Declan’s dilemma. As for Declan – the brooding Irishman was the perfect partner for Tess. His sexy brogue and soft heart with Jackson easily dulled those sharp edges of Tess’s personality, while Tess’s confidence in her calling – the medical sciences – served as the jolt of optimism the story needed. We get some great glimpses into the lives of our fav Remington Medical personnel, and some insight into the not-so-great background of Tess. But the pain and darkness in the story is cast aside by the hope and love that conquers all. It was the perfect end to a perfect series!
Kimberly Kincaid does it again in Book 4 of her series “Beyond Just Us.” It was a wonderful read. Declan Riley is smoking hot, and he is the perfect person to break the calm order of Tess Michaleson’s life. Even though this book is part of a series it can be a read alone because the author does a wonderful job describing the characters in the story, but I do highly recommend reading the other 3 books too.
Tess can give Declan a chance at a longer life by marrying him so he could have her insurance. What starts as a marriage of convenience ends up a true love story. Kimberly Kincaid has another winner with this final book in the Remington Medical series. I did not want this story to end.
Tess finally finds her HEA but it is not without an emotional roller coaster ride. After the man of her dreams falls in her arms, literally, Tess decides that she will do anything to help Declan get the medical attention that he needs.
Declan has lost everyone that he has ever considered family. When Tess has the crazy idea of getting married, Declan wants it to be more that just a fake marriage.
Ms. Kincaid brings us back to the town of Remington and to the gang at Remington Memorial. I had been waiting for this handsome, Irish cover model to show up in Remington and he did not disappoint. Ms. Kincaid’s writing actually had me hearing Declan’s Irish brogue as I was reading it. This is a fantastic read!
This is Book 4 of the Remington Medical Series
This is the story of Declan & Tess. Declan was in the military when he developed Diabetes II, and then he was a model for romance novel covers. He is also the best friend of one of the male nurses there. Tess is a doctor at Remington Medical. They meet when Tess was outside taking a break, and Declan was looking for his best friend, Conner. He passed out in her arms. She is familiar with him from his picture on the cover of the romance novels she reads. His kidney disease is getting worse. She makes him a proposition, which he agrees to. She fights like crazy to try and get him well. This is a story with all kinds of feelings that you feel right along with the characters. I love Declan and Tess. Their attraction is off the charts. She is such a strong woman and loves to help people. I love the Remington Medical friends, considered family. This book is awesome, and so is the series.
Beyond Just Us is the newest release in the Remington Medical series from Kimberly Kincaid. We finally get Dr. Tess Michaleson’s book, and it was more than worth the wait!!!
Tess Michaleson is such a strong woman. She runs the Emergency Department at Remington Medical like a drill sergeant, and is always the first one to step up when any of her friends need a hand. She is a rock star mom after her deadbeat ex-husband gave up on their marriage and her need to help others is one of her strongest qualities. The fact that neither her ex-husband or her family see what a wonderful person she is made me really sad, but Tess had her Remington Medical family, and that is part of the reason I love this series so very much.
Declan Riley is Connor’s best friend and hasn’t really had the easiest life. His mother passes away right before he enlisted in the Air Force, and he really doesn’t have any other family to speak of, so when he needs help, he heads to Remington Medical to check in with his best friend Connor. Declan became a romance novel cover model after leaving the Air Force due to a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. However, he has recently discovered his kidneys are starting to have reduced function and he is on borrowed time to stay off of dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant. When Tess discovers there is a clinical trial that is perfect for Declan, she suggests they marry so her insurance will cover the trial since his VA benefits would reject the option.
I love a good marriage of convenience and it was done so very well in Beyond Just Us. First of all, there was an instant attraction between Tess and Declan from the moment they met each other, although Tess had been attracted to Declan from his cover model days already. First of all I loved that Declan stepped up right away to help out around Tess’s house with cleaning and cooking to help make her life easier. I also loved that while he didn’t seem to know much about babies at the beginning, he helped take care of Tess’s son Jackson from the beginning. Seriously, is there anything sexier than a hot man taking care of a baby?!?!? After the hell Tess’s ex had put her though, I loved how open Declan was about how hot he found her and how much he wanted her. Their chemistry was steam of your kindle screen smoking hot!!!
I’ve read and loved each of the books in the Remington Medical series and have to say Kimberly Kincaid absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark with Beyond Just Us. I’ve been a fan from the moment I read my first book by Ms. Kincaid, and Beyond Just Us is absolutely my favorite book she has ever written. It was emotional, funny, sweet, and sexy and it was exactly the book I needed in my life right now.

Omg! What a great love story. Marriage of convenience turns to true love? *Happy sigh* I loved Tess and Declan! Individually they were great characters, Tess with her big heart and Declan with his heartbreaking past, but together, oh wow! Their love was sweet, sexy, hot, and emotional. I loved every minute from the moment they meet to their happily ever after. A seriously very enjoyable story.
Kimberly Kincaid just keeps getting better and better with the Remington Medical series. This latest release is amazing!
Could not get enough of this emotionally thrilling final journey in this heartwarming, sexy and fun series. Really enjoyed the chemistry between these beautifully broken survivors. Excellent reading from beginning to end.
The family of Remington Medical are amazing. Tess is the tough as nails ED doctor that will do anything within her power to help her patients. Getting to this point in her life wasn’t easy with the disdain her mother shows for her chosen profession but she fights to live her passion. She also has a heart of gold and is an amazing mother herself. Meeting Connor’s friend Declan, she ends up with a patient that needs help that his insurance won’t provide so what does Tess do, she marries him to get him the help he needs through her insurance. Declan can’t believe his body is letting him down. After losing his mother, he joined the Air Force and when he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, he had to walk away from that career leaving him alone and lost. He ended up at Remington Med seeking his friend Connor’s assistance. What he never expects is a marriage proposal to get him into a drug trial to help his condition. The relationship that builds between them was a joy to experience. Declan agrees to move in with Tess but he has to pull his weight and help out. Tess is not used to anyone taking care of her, she is always the one taking care of everybody else but that’s not Declan’s style. I was invested from the beginning needing Declan to be healthy as well as wanting Tess to have the love she deserves to go with her caring heart.
Kimberly Kincaid has delivered another story with both heart and heat that brings so many feels and has created the perfect happy ending to the Remington Medical series.
I’m not usually a big fan of the marriage of convenience trope, but since it was the key to bringing Tess and Declan together, it really worked for me in this story. What I do love is when two people who think that they are just not “relationship” people find themselves knee-deep in a relationship before they even know what happened – I love that moment when they realize that they may be in trouble, and the subsequent moments that confirms it may be true, and there were so many of those for both Declan and Tess.
One of the things I really liked about Tess is that she has been the outlier character from the start of the series. In romance novels you normally get the build to the happy ever after, but from the first book in this series we got to see Tess’s marriage unravel and find her adjusting to being a single working mother. There were hints that her happy ever after was coming, but knowing where she was coming from made her story so much more emotional and real. I couldn’t believe how her family treated her and loved how she eventually makes peace with herself about how she lives her life – and I loved that Declan was there every step of that way. Declan has his own issues, and even though I may have not agreed with how Tess handles things and was on Team Declan, in the end it really was the only way for Tess to get Declan what he needed, not just medically, but also emotionally and mentally.
It was great getting to spend time with the Remington Medical crew. This has been such a great group of characters to read about and I love how they are always there for each other. I also loved Jackson, Tess’s son. He was such an integral part of the relationship and bond of trust that forms between Tess and Declan. Kimberly Kincaid does and awesome job writing Jackson into scenes realistically and strategically, really adding another layer to the relationship that forms between them. And I really loved the scene when Vasquez, one of the interns, also pipes up to give Tess some good advice.
Even though this is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone, but I personally think it would be more enjoyable to start at the beginning to get a good feel of who Tess is and what she has been through. There is a lot of fun dialogue and you can feel the friendships on the pages between the entire Remington Medical crew.
This was a great way to end the series and I would recommend this book and the entire series it to anyone who loves medical romances – or romances in general, real-to-life characters, and nice blend of humor, heart, and heat.
Tess Michaelson is an emergency room doctor full of sarcasm, quick comebacks and a sharp tongue, yet she is the calm during any storm, always able to maintain her composure and care for her patients and interns. All of these characteristes make Tess the best person to run the Emergency Department at Remington Memorial. Tess is also a single mother, divorcee who no longer believes in love and happy ever after; even though all of her friends and peers are now paired off and happy.
Enter Declan Riley into Remington Memorial. Declan is a former special ops military man and best friend of Connor Bradshaw (who is also one of Tess’s close friends). As Declan seeks out Connor, he runs into Tess first…. and literally falls at her feet. Fast forward to a medical condition endangering Declans life and Tess’s selfless act to help Declan regain his health and the Tess and Declan are thrown together.
Oh, and did I mention that Declan’s post military career is as a romance book cover model. A cover model whom Tess has been drooling over, (amoung other things) since Connor introduced the romance novels to the Remington staff.
I’ve had a strong fondness for Tess since she was first introduced in book 1 featuring her best friend, Charlie. Tess’s weaknesses are revealed in this story, and Declan is the perfect calm, quiet, strength Tess needs to balance her out and build her up during some troubling times. I loved Declan and Tess together. And as much as I have liked Tess in each of the previous books, Declan stole my heart from the very beginning and had me rooting for his health and heart (Tess). I’m sure that Irish Brogue of Declans (I literally can imagine his voice) had a lot to do with falling for him.
There are quite a few bumps and twists along the road to happy ever after, but once Tess and Declan take the plunge into a physical relationship, you can’t help but pull for them to accept the love growing between them.
