how dangerous getting close can be.

From USA Today best-seller Kimberly Kincaid comes an older woman/younger man marriage-of-convenience story full of sizzle and sass. This full-length romance features an Irish American Air Force veteran-turned-model and a take-no-crap attending physician finding out if fairy tales really do come true.

Kimberly Kincaid’s books are always sexy reads with great characters. Love it!
This story is worthy of more than 5 stars!
I have been wanting Tess’ book from the first time we met her and it didn’t disappoint! There were happy tears!
I always loved Tess’ no nonsense attitude but yet she was still vulnerable.
Tess is finally divorced from her waste of space ex husband. All her energy goes into her baby son who she adores, her work as a ED doctor which she loves and her close knit group of friends.
She has a heart of gold and is always trying to help people. So it comes as no surprise when Declan (hot cover model from her favourite books) who is the friend Connor needs some medical help.
Tess comes up with the solution that the only way to help this friend and get him the medical help he needs is to get married to him, just as friends of course!
But will they just stay friends or will their fake marriage of convenience turn into more!
Tess and Declan’s chemistry from when they first meet is combustible! Tess doesn’t think she is good enough. Declan makes her realise she is more than good enough! Declan was so sweet, charming and OMG your ovaries will explode imagining him holding Tess’ son!
What an incredible end to a fantastic series! I am so sad this series is finished!
Kimberly Kincaid brings all her usual steam and sass in Beyond Just Us! I loved reading the older woman/younger man romance.
Brilliant, amazing, my absolute favorite book in this series! I have loved Tess from the first book, she is smart, a kick but single mom, opinionated, speaks her mind and truly cares about her patients and friends. I knew when her book came out it would be amazing but I had no clue how out of this world awesome it would really be. With the other characters in the books I could see the connections and knew who would be in their stories. I knew that they would find a way to their HEA and I loved reading about their journey to get there. With Tess I had no clue who her person was until I read the teasers. It was a shock and I was so happy! This book also kept me wondering how they could possibly find that HEA I wanted for them. I am not giving anything away because I want you to enjoy the ups and downs, the surprises and real life feels this book has to offer. Please go pre-order NOW so you can also get an exclusive extra chapter only given to people who pre-order.
*** I was gifted an ARC approved by the author to give my honest opinion of this book. ***
Like reading an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Beyond Just Us is full of McDreamy men, smart women, and sexy drama.
Whether you’ve followed along with the Remington Medical series or not, you’ll love this book and have no trouble jumping into Declan and Tess’ story.
Declan Riley has been mentioned in past books, he’s a friend of Connor’s (who works at Remington and is also a very good friend of Tess’s). What we knew about Declan is that he’s been in the Air Force with Conner, but he’s now a cover model and he dons several romance covers that Conner loves to gift the ladies at Remington which he has no shame in telling Declan whenever they talk. That was the extent in which we knew his background….oh, except he’s also Irish…so the accent…hard swoon, sign me up for Declan please!!
We finally get Declan as he appears in Tess’ ER with no hope, no family, and a death sentence hanging over his head. (So not fair that Mr. McDreamy is finally here and he’s broken…but what a story).
Tess Michaelson has had a bumpy road through the Medical series and I’m really happy she is finally getting a good man. She has been a rock for all of her friends, coming through in their times of crisis. It helps being an ER doctor she knows what has to be done and how to accomplish it fast. Unfortunately, in her personal life she’s a new mom and a recent divorcée so she doesn’t look at love the same as her friends around her who are all happy and coupled up, she doesn’t believe it will ever happen for her again and she’s fine with that.
When Declan needs help and she has the power to save him she does the one thing that she feels she would do for anyone in his place (it doesn’t hurt that she’s fantasized about him while reading one of the books he’s been on the cover of), she offers herself up as “tribute”, or more like his wife, since she has great health insurance which will help get him in a medical trial and could hopefully save his life.
While neither Declan or Tess expect to fall in love, neither go out of their way to fight their attraction to the other. They both know what’s at stake and are both just truly caring people who want what’s best for the other. It’s really hard not to care for someone when they are genuinely a decent, good person.
This is a beautiful story about two caring people who really do need each other, but don’t really know how much they needed the right person in their lives until they were there. This might be one of my favorite books in the whole series.
I loved Beyond Just Us by Kimberly Kincaid, the fourth book in the Remington Medical series. I received an ARC of Beyond Just Us for an honest review, and I can truly say that it was an incredible book, that I could not put down and is probably my favorite book in the series. I continue to love the Remington Memorial setting and catching up with all the other couples in the series. Once again Kimberly Kincaid has proven that she is a master storyteller and has written a wonderful story that starts with a marriage of convenience that turns into so much more. Beyond Just Us is the story of Dr. Tess Michaelson the ED attending physician and single mother and Declan Riley, tattoo covered, former Air Force member turned model and friend of Connor Bradshaw. The story starts with Declan searching for Connor and then collapsing in Tess’s arms outside of Remington Memorial. Declan is diabetic and his kidneys are not functioning properly. Tess finds a study at Remington that could hopefully help Declan avoid dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant and is able to get Declan into the study. Unfortunately, Declan’s VA health insurance will not cover the study, but Remington Memorial’s health insurance would. When Tess realizes that the only solution is marriage, she proposes to Declan so that he can receive the treatment that he needs and they get married the same day. The plan is to end their marriage once the study is over. Another favorite moment was how Connor took care of the details of the wedding of his friends. Tess has fantasized about Declan because of all the romance novels that she reads with Declan on the cover. Since Tess agrees to help with Declan’s health monitoring during the study, Declan moves into her spare bedroom. Eventually, Declan and Tess begin a friends with benefits relationship. I love the metamorphosis that takes place with Tess because of Declan’s love and his presence in her life. My favorite part was how she stood up to her mother, who has always made her feel that she was not enough. Initially, their eight year age difference was a hang up for Tess. I am so happy that Declan was able to show her how truly beautiful she is as a person. Both Tess and Declan come into this marriage with family baggage and I love how those bags were unpacked. Once again Kimberly Kincaid has delivered a sizzling hot romance that she has filled with both her bittersweet and poignant moments. I love the plot twists that I have come to expect and love about her books. I enjoyed how the plot twists came together and changed both Tess and Declan. I loved Declan’s relationship with Jackson, Tess’s ten month old son. I savored the image of burly, tattooed Declan taking care of Jackson It was truly a wonderful book that I could not put down. I love that each book in the series feels like a family reunion and I was able to get caught up with Charlie and Parker, Natalie and Jonah, and Harper and Connor. I am so overjoyed that Tess got the man and the happily ever after that she truly deserved and never thought it would happen to her.
I was so happy that Tess finally got her HEA but in an unexpected way. After all she went through with her first marriage, she was very cynical about true love even though her friends and co-workers each found their HEA. All Tess needed was her job, her family at the hospital and her son. When Declan Riley went to the hospital to find his friend Connor and literally falls in her arms she realizes he needs help. His diagnosis broke her heart but to get him the medical care he needed she married him. After seeing all she went through not only with her ex but also her mother & sisters it amazes me how sweet Tess is. How she overcame obstacles to be the strong woman & dr she is. During the time she spent with Declan she realized that she truly is worthy of her own HEA. Plus he loves her son and has an amazing Irish accent.
I love all of Kimberly Kincaid’s books, but this one really hits my sweet spot–watching the badass ex-military Irishman fall for the strong, snarky single mom was the perfect ride!
Another 5-star hit! BEYOND JUST US showcases everything I love about Kimberly Kincaid’s books. Fresh writing, a couple to fall for, and swoon-worthy scenes with the perfect amount of heat.
Holy cow. I’m going to need a moment or several.
BEYOND JUST US by Kimberly Kincaid is the fourth in her Remington Medical series. It’s about Tess Michaelson and Declan Riley. Tess is the ER attending, a newish mom, and freshly rid of her crummy ex. When Declan, a friend of a friend, basically collapses in her arms outside her queendom, she leaps into action doing what she does best–taking excellent care of him. And if getting him the care he needs means that she has to go above and beyond, well, marriage doesn’t mean the same thing to her as it does to her lovey-dovey friends.
But it is sheer pleasure to see straight-talking Tess find a partner like Dec, who also isn’t looking for not-temporary. Because of his health issues, he doesn’t consider himself a good bet, but he is immediately captivated by the capable and dazzling woman he finds his temporary wife. He is also charmed by Tess’s darling son Jackson, willing to cook and clean, and the fact that Declan’s a cover model? Doesn’t make him less appealing to Tess…
Kimberly Kincaid spins an incredible and deeply satisfying story in Beyond Just Us. Not only are Tess and Declan well written and feel real, they’re part of an incredible community at Remington Medical. This is very clearly Tess and Dec’s story, but they don’t exist in a vacuum, and their story is all the stronger as we see those who love and work with them (and also those who have less fond feelings for them, and may not be co-workers 😉 ). Also, Ms Kincaid writes consent so beautifully. It’s such a pleasure to see it woven in as part of the fabric of her couples’ relationships.
The other thing I really love is that Ms Kincaid knows how to write characters who know how to adult. Their lives aren’t perfect, and they make mistakes and make less-than-ideal choices at times. But they are generally forthright about the business of living, and are willing to work hard, apologize, do whatever it takes, and that is both encouraging and hot.
All in all, Beyond Just Us is a rare gem. It’s going straight to the keeper shelf, and I may have to re-read the series as well!
Weeellllll…Author Kimberly Kincaid has just taken one of my least favorite tropes, “marriage of convenience” and made it one of my favorites! Well done, Ms. Kincaid, well done!
In this HOT 4th book of the Remington Medical series, Connor’s Air Force “brother” and best friend for years, Declan Riley (OH! And let’s not forget… Irishman and model) shows up at Remington Medical hospital and literally collapses in ER Doctor Tess Michaleson’s arms.
Irish quirked an inky black brow. “Y’don’t think it’s because I’m lookin’ at a pretty girl?”
I have been intrigued by exhausted, spread-thin, Tess’s story since we first met her, and I was so glad to get hers before the series ended!
Between her not nine-to-five shifts in the ED and her adorable but totally teething nine month -old son, she was lucky she knew that it was June, and that she’d remembered to put on pants this morning.
I absolutely ADORED her baby, Jackson, (certainly not as much as her friends or Declan, though. LOL). Ms. Kincaid put just enough of this little bundle of joy into the storyline, and yet not too much. Tess is a no-nonsense, smart, sexy, amazing single mom, who will never do a relationship or marriage again…not for love (because there just isn’t such a thing), or for any other emotional reason…right? She has too much on her plate and too much judgmental family and negative relationship history to become invested in another relationship of that nature ever again…but her caring heart could never turn away a viable option for a friend of a friend…right? They can be just friends after all…
There are a few tropes in this!
*Convenience Marriage
*Age Gap
*Medical
*Single Parent
Most of the characters in BEYOND JUST US, are blended throughout the series, so I would absolutely recommend reading the series in order (trust me…this is not a hardship!)! This whole storyline throughout the series is one of my favorites (hello!!! Medical romance!!!). The series and the storylines flow so well! I enjoyed the medical side of this…especially Declan’s medical complications in this romance! There is heat (deliciously hot), lies, promises, medical situations from patient and field POV, family of blood and family of choice. This one was my favorite of the series…IT WAS INCREDIBLE! It will give you all the feels…and damn it…even tears! I would give BEYOND JUST US more than 5 stars if I could!
How can you resist a hot irish hero, a fiesty herione and a marriage that saves them both? Easy you can’t. I really want to yell “JUST BUY THE DAMN BOOK, YOU WILL LOVE IT” but I feel I might need to say more about it than that to convince you that this is a 5 star MUST READ!
Here goes, I absolutely loved this story by Kimberly Kincaid. This book was the book I’ve been waiting for and it was so worth the wait to have a story that gave me all the feels, made me laugh, melt, swoon and fall so hard and fast for the 2 main characters of Tess and Declan, I practically have wounds from the fall.
OMG! When I say I loved this book, it’s a massive understatement. I truly wish I could give it more than 5 stars because it’s what the story deserves. I was hooked from the opening scene to the very last page that left me with goosebumps, a goofy grin and a full heart.
There is so much about this book that kept me glued to the pages, but I can honestly say that it’s the characters that drew me in, made me care about them and made me cry, cheer, laugh, get hot and bothered while the story kept me inhaling this story. Try not to fall in love with them, I dare you.
While this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone but I would guarantee that one taste and you will want to read the whole series. It’s that good. But if you are a long time reader like me, you will see familiar faces and a side to one that I suspected was there but the grump never shows.
Confession time, I may have already read it twice because I loved it so much. Kimberly Kincaid has knocked it out of the park with this book. I can’t recommend it enough.
Kimberly Kincaid is my GO TO when it comes to steamy medical romance with strong characters and tons of emotion!
Beyond Just Us was the perfect ending to the fantastic Remington Medical series! Since Back to You, I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for Tess to find her happily ever after! Who knew it would be in the arms of the latest, hottest, sexiest romance cover model, Declan Riley?
From their very first meeting—can we call it a meeting when he literally falls into Tess’s arms?—there was an undeniable spark, an attraction that went more than skin deep. And when it’s Tess , the Remington Medical president of the “I don’t believe in love and marriage” club, who suggests Declan marry her for medical insurance, more than a few of her friends are quite shocked! And, of course, they all participate in the betting pool as to when Tess and Declan give in to all the sexual tension between them and turn up the heat between the sheets in their marriage of convenience.
I truly hated to see this book come to an end. I loved Tess and Declan together from the start. How they both got so much from their friendship turned lovers turned real love, real marriage. Both had so much hurt to work through from their pasts—and their path to real love wasn’t easy. Especially with Declan’s diagnosis. But, whoa, was it worth it in the end!
This is the final book in the Remington Medical series. I’m sorry to see the series end.
Tess is an ED doctor and a single mom to a 10 month old son. She’s also newly divorced from her douche canoe of an ex. All of her friends from the hospital have found true love but Tess tried that once and it didn’t turn out so well. She’d love to have what her friends have but she thinks that ship has sailed. After a particularly rough morning in the ED, she steps out to the ambulance bay to enjoy a little sunshine. When she looks up, she sees, the man of her dreams (literally) standing in front of her. While he tells her why he’s there, Tess notices that he is flush, swaying and diapheretic. Then he passes out in her arms.
Declan comes to in the ED, realizing that he has had an issue with his blood sugar. But his doctor is a beautiful angel. As Tess treats Declan he is more and more taken with her. But his medical issues are serious and it isn’t something he wants to face. He doesn’t feel that there is any hope. When Tess finds an experimental treatment program, Declan doesn’t want to hope. When a roadblock is thrown up, Tess has an answer to his problem. But is Declan willing to take a chance when he has already lost so much?
I loved this book. As someone in the medical field, I have a hard time watching medical drama or reading medical themed books because there are typically a lot of errors in the procedures and treatments. Not so with the books in this series or the author’s Station Seventeen series. Kimberly Kincaid has done some excellent research for her stories and it shows. Not only is she spot on with the technical part but the characters in her books are deep and easy to relate to.
You can read this book as a stand alone but I recommend reading the others first. There is a lot of back story and the other characters live in each of the books. Not only that, but they are just too good to miss.
Tess is the head of the Emergency Department at Remington Medical. She is smart, tough, tells it like it is and also struggles with being a full-time single mom with a demanding job. Declan left the Air Force two years previous due to a health problem and has travelled to Remington in search of his friend Conner for medical advice. Before he can even find Conner, he finds Tess. Declan and Tess become friends and when Declan falls in love with little Jackson they learn to trust and lean on each other. It doesn’t take long for their friendship to grow, their feelings to bloom and a temporary marriage of convenience starts to feel like it could be something more.
Declan is so charming, lovable and amazing. I loved how he made Tess realize that she is worth so much more that she believes. The chemistry between Declan and Tess is off the charts. Beyond Just Us is the perfect ending to the Remington Medical series. Kimberly Kincaid did an amazing job with this series and I can not wait to see what comes next.
*ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review*
As an ED doctor, Tess is used to seeing people at their worst. But when she comes across Declan outside the ED he literally falls at her feet when he passes out. The health scare puts the two on a path that leads to experimental drugs and a marriage of convenience. Can the Irishman convince Tess that their relationship is more than just smoke and mirrors or will her support of his declining health be the one item that makes or breaks them? With an emotional storyline that tugs on the heartstrings and characters that you just want to take from the pages and give them a hug this was an awesome read. Once again Kimberly Kincaid adds another great installment and another beautifully written couple for the Remington Medical Series. I am so sorry to see this series end, but I can guarantee it wil be one I re-read time and time again.
Tess and Declan have a marriage of convenience in Beyond Just Us, book four in Kimberly Kincaid’s Remington Medical series. This story, which kept me reading, is amazing, has sizzling hot chemistry, and is one of my favorite tropes. Tess is a passionate doctor who runs her ER like a drill sergeant. She’s a single mom who unfortunately married the wrong man. After being burned by her ex-husband she struggles with trust and makes her son and work, her entire world. That is until Declan Riley falls into her arms; literally. Irishman Declan is ex-Air Force, a model, covered in tattoos, and one of flight-nurse Connor’s best friends. Declan’s accent and tattoos are more than enough for Tess, but then she learns of his heart-breaking diagnosis. In order to get him the care he needs Tess decides that marrying him and giving him her health insurance will help him get what his VA-insurance won’t provide. Tess and Declan know this is temporary but the longer Declan is around his smart, sexy, doctor-wife and her son, he finds it more and more difficult to not get involved. The chemistry between these two is not just sizzling, but off the charts. He is a dream husband; he cleans, cooks, gives orgasms, and helps with the baby. This temporary, marriage of convenience is feeling more and more like a real relationship between Tess and Declan. Now, if only Declan can improve his health problems.
Ms. Kincaid provided a must read, highly emotional tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, strong connections with friends, as well as charming characters; providing Tess and Declan a chance at everlasting, not only in fairy tales, love. I highly recommend Beyond Just Us to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The perfect ending to an amazing series!!
Tess has always been the no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is friend and boss. She gave up on romantic love after her disastrous marriage and focuses all her energy into her son, her friends and her job. When a friend of a friend needs help, she jumps at the chance to save his life. Declan isn’t one to accept help easily but when he runs out of options he agrees to Tess’s crazy plan. As Tess and Declan grow closer, their feelings grow stronger and suddenly their pretend marriage doesn’t feel quite so pretend anymore.
I confess that marriage of convenience is my favorite troupe. I love when pretending to be in love turns into wild, incredible chemistry and ultimately a beautiful happy ending and that is exactly what Kimberly Kincaid gives us with Tess and Declan. Declan is definitely one of my favorite heros of all time. He is charming, sweet and very swoon-worthy. Tess is one of those characters I wish I could be friends with in real life. Together their intense chemistry and sexy scenes could have set my Kindle on fire. It is an incredible story filled with a lot of emotion, steam and fun. I am going to miss these characters so much and I know I will be rereading this series many times in the future!
