Her heart. Her duty.
My biggest mistake was seeking out Noah.
He wants to own me.
Ruin me.
He took me to his home, a community he rules called ‘The Family’.
Just so I could become his wife.
When I find out who he truly is … who I’m supposed to be…
I run.
But this man is no man you could ever run from.
This man will come to claim my heart… forever.

Beyond His Crontrol is the second and final installment in His Duet and must be read after Under His Rule.
After reading the first installment I couldn’t wait for book 2 and my oh my it was so worth the wait! It starts where it finished in book 1 and I really don’t want to say anymore as to not spoil it but wow what a perfect ending and a fantastic read! They are a must read and Clarissa knocked this story out of the park I absolutely loved it!
The perfect ending!
She finds her past but is it what she really wanted
Beyond His Control is the second book in the His Duet and is the continuation of Natalie and Noah’s story. When I read this book I was not really sure what to say about it at the time. I think I actually had to put it out of my mind for a while in order to mull it over a bit more. The first book, Under His Rule, was a strange story as it involved a lot of moving pieces including some Handmaid’s Tale and twisted FLDS cult like communities with very twisted and sick older men who prey on the young women for their perverse sexual gratification. Well that continues in this book too only it also involves Natalie and Noah together. There is a very strange marriage ceremony between them that was not romantic to me at all.
I have read a number of Clarissa Wild’s series, even the dark and twisted ones, but this one I was not so on board with. I think it was the whole cult think with the preying on young girls. The ending did not do it for me either by the time I got to there. The book is well written and the story is interesting but be prepared for a number of potential triggers.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Natalie is an outspoken, determined young woman with a protective streak. Noah is the ruler of his family and her husband. He is ruthless and cruel but different from the others in the family. He and Natalie have an undeniable chemistry and the sex is off the charts. The secrets and lies abound in this story as well as the twists. A dark, thriller of a read.
I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am leaving a review.
This series held me captive from the beginning I almost cried when I ended the second book and the 3rd wasn’t there yet. Man this story is heart stopping dark romantic suspense to the Max. This is the third book please start at the beginning as I skipped by accident book one. I loved it and my heart is still beating fast. I highly recommend this book.
This was a page turner from the start! What a fantastic ending! Clarrisa Wild does not disappoint, She keeps you hanging on to the very end!!!!
Okay, Beyond His Control picks up right where Under His Rule ends so, if you haven’t read that..
The cliffhanger at the end of the first book in this series was brutal, but the waiting and anticipation made it even better. A dark, psychological romance. Nick tracks Natalie down after she escapes ‘The Family’ an extremely intense cult that labels women as possessions and “the elders” are give god like status. Trying to find her mother lead her to Noah. Her husband. As much as she despises him, there is a part of her that has bonded with him. I really liked how Natalie stays so strong in this book. No matter what she doesn’t slowly transform into a meek quiet bride. Can Noah, as a Patriarch and Natalie one of “the captured” really be happy?
Beyond His Control is the PERFECT ending to this duet. While reading this second story you will feel everything you would expect to feel, anger, desperation, love, hopelessness, hope, and at the end faith for these people that are in this Family and have little or no say in their lives. I understand that the Family is a cult and that a lot of them are born into it, but when the change needs to be made, it surprises me how many of them go with the change.
Natalie and Noah’s ride is wild and in the end beautiful once you get into the end of this story. I read this story in one sitting because I had to know how it ended. No one was going to bother me until that last page was read.
Clarissa brought us another duet that will bring you to your knees until the very end!
Beyond His Control was a great 5+ star read.
This is the sequel to Under His Rule and I was so excited to get to finally read it.
Where to even begin with this review. I couldn’t have been more happy with how this ended.
Natalie is fleeing the compound and Emmy is determined to go with her. Before they can plan to go any further they are recaptured. Noah was trying to be a little more sensitive on how he took Natalie back but the President had other ideas. When her secret is revealed the President plans to keep her alive.
Noah and Natalie are determined to have change come to the compound. Their love also grows more along the way, planning for their new baby. There are so many shocking twists and turns and more secrets revealed. I loved it. I was on the edge of my seat. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story as well. The way this story ends I would say there could possibly be more to this couples story. Thank you Clarissa Wild for another great read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.
This book is definitely different than what I normally read. If I could compare it I would say it’s either like a cult or like the FLDS Mormons, both have twisted rules.
This is the second book in the His Duet, and the continuation of Noah, and Natalie’s twisted story. This was another great read in this duet. This was well written, the characters have great chemistry, and their story kept me captivated.
Fans Of The Handmaid’s Tale Will Love The Conclusion To This Superbly Crafted Duet! Noah And Natalie’s Complex Love Story Begins As Children Raised In A Cult. Here, As Adults, They Plot For Freedom As Their Safety Is In Doubt.
Before His Choice is the very short prequel to this duet and is optional (and available free at time of posting). It is worthwhile for three reasons. First, it gives a peak at who Noah really is and what motivates him by showing him at age fourteen when he helps Natalie escape the commune. Second, it makes two dramatic scenes within the duet between Noah and Natalie more meaningful. Lastly, it illustrates more vividly the dangers to women in the commune – matriarchs in particular.
This is part two of a love story that takes place mostly within the walls of a commune. The society within the cult is complex, which makes for a powerful story. A short lexicon is included at the beginning which introduces the terms used within.
In the first book, Under His Rule, Natalie, twenty-two, had led a difficult life. She coped by pushing her memories down, but the scar on her stomach was a vivid reminder of everything she lost. Raised in an orphanage from age six, she had no family and only vague memories from before. But an image online caught her attention one day – a picture that included a man with a tattoo on his hand that matched the image on the scarf she had from her childhood. The image accompanied an article announcing a recruiting event sponsored by the Family. Natalie attended, hoping to find answers about her past. When she locked eyes with the man from the photo, he seemed as interested in her as she was in him, but moments later she found herself taken against her will.
Patriarch Noah, thirty, always got what he wanted. He had been looking for her for years. When he actually found her, though, she tested his patience like no other. She would change everything, but he had to follow the plan. He had to let her see everything, experience everything, even the initiation, and even if it meant she hated him. When he earned her trust and built her back up – only then could he tell her everything about her past and enlist her help with his plan. Not before.
Natalie wanted her freedom. Cognizant of the psychological conditioning she underwent, she tried to resist. She hated herself for her attraction to Noah. He calmed her, but he was one of them so he couldn’t be trusted. Noah intended to finally make Natalie his wife. Although as a patriarch he had many liberties, he had to continue to operate under the radar if his plan had any hope of working. Keeping Natalie in line and out of trouble proved increasingly difficult as she demanded answers and realized her own power.
After the marriage took place, Noah finally helped Natalie remember some of her past. When she recollected images of Noah as a boy, the couple grew closer. But Marsha, Natalie’s mother, stirred the waters and enabled Natalie’s escape.
In this book, Natalie escapes with Emmy – an initiatie who was born in the commune and who had bunked with Natalie. But their freedom is short lived and their return has them both in dire trouble. Natalie is spared from death by her father, the President, because she is carrying his grandchild. Noah falls out of grace as well for his failure to keep Natalie in line. Their future is uncertain and they are watched carefully. As their love grows, so does the danger that surrounds them.
The couple hopes to effect change, but change never comes easily. Noah’s hope since age fourteen has been to take down the patriarchs and lead the Family himself – to ensure women are treated well, unlike his late mother. As Natalie accepts her captivity, she becomes vested in change by her love for her husband and unborn child. The couple eventually earns the HEA they work so hard for. Near the end, there is an opening for a possible spin-off series following Natalie’s friend April.
Noah and Natalie’s story will resonate with fans of The Handmaid’s Tale. Under His Rule is an example of superbly-crafted storytelling. Everything runs smoothly on the surface within the commune. But the struggle for power within the Family brews under the surface, motivating Noah and threatening his plan. The love story begins in the prequel where Noah and Natalie, fourteen and six, are raised in a cult. To protect Natalie from the dangers within, he smuggles her outside. Years later, Noah brings her back against her will and must earn Natalie’s trust again to enlist her help. They fight for survival and plot to destroy the very foundation of the Family.
There are a few issues that merit mention. *Spoilers* First, the story drags a little when it seems the couple has worked out their feelings for one another but then revisits earlier concerns. Second, despite the fact that there are known cameras within the Temple, several characters become careless and security is apparently not monitoring them. Third, it is unclear why Natalie needs a key to escape the Temple during the day when she has permission to be out amongst the people during the day. Fourth, Marsha’s quiet plan is upended in favor of a far more risky one without explanation.
Noah and Natalie’s story is well-written. It is plot-driven. The plot is very complex, with numerous characters and a religious cult with its own customs and rituals. The characters are nicely developed, though the focus is on plot. The book is written in first person. The POV alternates between Noah and Natalie. I rate this book four stars.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the conclusion to the His Duet Series and what an ending it is. This is not a standalone and the first book, “Under His Rule,” should be read prior to beginning this book. Natalie has been on a whirlwind when it comes to being part of ‘the community’ and through everything she has endured, she has grown tremendously. Noah is doing what he can to survive while maintaining his focus to do what must be done. There are so many twists and turns that will keep readers engaged from start to finish. As the pages turn, you feel the miasma of suspense holding you hostage to the storyline to see what is coming next. This is one intense ride that will have you stuck in your seat with an obsession for more. I hope at some point readers will get April’s story. I highly recommend this duet! I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
Second book and conclusion to His Duet. Noah and Natalie story picks up exactly where Under His Rule ended. this story is intriguing, twisty, surprising, and intense. Just when you think you have it figured out, look out here comes a curveball. How these two overcome years of abuse, misuse, betrayals, and lies is awesome. Overall a great read and it can be read for free with KU.
I received an ARC and this is my totally honest review.
Finally…a choice of her choosing
—>>> Escaping the The Family’s compound was a life and death matter, one afforded by an unexpected ally. Now free, it is only a matter of time until they catch up with her as she tries to jump start the life she had left behind before she began her search for the meaning of the symbol on her handkerchief, her one connection to the past. Much happens in this second book, a rocky road to their HEA, but perfect for them, nonetheless. Great read of a restrictive and oppressive culture brought to life.
I’m a Wild fan; Clarissa Wild fan!!!
What a GREAT finale to Natalie and Noah’s story! If you want a story that leaves you shirking all other responsibilities to just read another chapter; this duet is it!
What kept me reading, and reading, was the character depth.
Ms. Wild, if she is not already, may just become a starred author after you read this duet!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
“OMG what have I just read!!OMG OMG!!! I never expected that ending it was so… wow!! Beyond His Control by Clarissa Wild begins exactly where Under His Rule ended. What I loved the most about Clarissa’s writing style is the combination of dark and psychological romance. A story packed with intrigue, suspense, deception, lies, betrayal and mystery. I couldn’t have ask for a different ending for this duet. The story was simply phenomenal. Noah was the perfect piece of this puzzle. This duet was different form what I usually read and I enjoyed the freshen plot. I highly recommend you this duet if you’re looking for something new and exciting!”
Beyond His Control was a great addition to this Duet. The plot was strong, it was packed with many emotions, it had suspense, drama, action, twists and more. Clarissa Wild did a great job on it. The story was written well. Noah and Natalie were strong characters, their journey has been a rollercoaster. There’s been nothing easy about their journey. Their relationship was dark and intense but they were drawn to each other. The chemistry between them was strong.
I enjoyed this story, it was great. Thank you, Clarissa Wild. Great work 🙂
A perfect ending of this duett. Noah and Natalie works so well together.
I’m stunned with the authors fantasy, to come up with a society as this and Then combine it with the ones that I know.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
Noah and Natalie had me drawn into their story from the beginning. I have been anxiously waiting for this book to be here. It was well worth waiting for. There were unexpected revelations that happened, but it was perfect for how the story was unfolding. This dark romantic suspense is emotional, intense and addicting. I did not want to stop reading it. I was completely into the world of the Cult Family. I had to know how the story was going to end. It was fantastic. This is a definite must read duet. I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy from the author.
