A woman on the run finds safe haven on a Texas ranch—and in the arms of sexy veteran—in this romantic thriller by the New York Times bestselling author. When Victoria Bradford got engaged, she told herself to give love a chance. Six months later, she’s on the run from an abusive ex-fiancé with her four-year-old daughter and nowhere to go. Seventy miles north of Dallas, the Iron River Ranch … the Iron River Ranch feels like nowhere—which is exactly what its new owner, Josh Cain, wanted when he got back from Afghanistan: big skies, quiet nights, no trouble.
One look tells Josh the pretty redhead with the adorable little girl will give him trouble of the most personal kind. Good thing he doesn’t scare easily—not even when “accidents” start happening around the ranch, or even when Tory’s best friend back in Phoenix is abducted.
As the dangers escalate, Josh is only more determined to protect the innocent mother and daughter who’ve entered his life. But if he gets too close to fierce, determined Tory, Josh knows his nights are going to be anything but quiet.

Awesome book
Warning: Adult Sexual Content and Subject Matter, which you can skip over and still fully enjoy the book.
This return to Iron River Ranch introduces you to Victoria Bradford who along with her daughter are on the run from her abusive fiancé. Victoria now known as Tory pulls into a ranch to interview for a job advertised for a ranch hand. Almost out of gas and little money she meets ranch owner and ex-Marine Josh Cain, the brother of Linc from a previous book in the series. Tory is able to get Josh to hire her for three days so she can prove she can do the work. The story has horses and action and of course, Josh and Tory are destined to be together. Solid formula romance that will not disappoint the Martin romance fans.
I love Kat Martin!!!
Beyond Control by Kat Martin
Texas Trilogy #3
Busy but good this story had a Tory Ford running with her young daughter from an abusive ex-fiancé and finding sanctuary and protection on Josh Cain’s ranch. Neither is in the right headspace to have a relationship but as time progresses they get to know and admire then care for one another.
This book had much going on with the abusive ex, a potential serial murderer on the loose, arson, a terrorist or two to deal with, an motorcycle club element and then of course the romance along oh and a secondary romance, too. That said, it was handled well and I cared about the characters and hoped they would get their happily ever after.
I truly enjoyed this book and the first in the series and wonder just how I missed the first one. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the near future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – this is my honest review.
What a wonderful final addition to Kat Martin’s exciting Texas Trilogy! I was completely captivated from page one and found myself unable to stop reading this suspenseful, romantic thriller until I reached the end. This entire series is a treat not to be missed and to be enjoyed again and again.
Beyond Control was so good. I loved every single minute of it. Josh was amazing. He was protective, sweet and sexy! A former sniper in the Marines Josh was a total bada@#. Anyways Tory was great too. I love how smart and brave she was. She didn’t take stupid risk, or run blindly into danger. She did what she had to, to protect her daughter, herself and the man she loved. Josh and Tory had major chemistry. The sexual tension was just rolling off the pages. The plot was very good. I like the domestic abuse trope, because it does happen in real life. I love anything that brings light to the problem of domestic abuse. Plus I love when the domestic abuse trope has a strong heroine to show that women do have power and can fight back. I love that Tory was able to lean on Josh for protections and still be strong in her own right. This book had a ton of action, but it had sweet down times too, where it built up Tory and Josh’s relationship. Tory’s ex Damon (the bad guy abuser) was super evil and gave me the creeps. Overall this book kept me on the edge of my seat, gave me all the feels and made me want to go back and read the first two books in this series. I loved it!
This is not your standard “damsel in distress” story! Victoria Langford Is a strong woman, with a
career and an adorable daughter she is raising alone after the death of her husband and mother
in a car accident years earlier when Ivy was a baby. However, a chance meeting with Damon at
a club starts a brief relationship with him that seems to be a dream, a second chance at love.
But once engaged to him, the relationship devolves into a nightmare filled with brutality and
obsessiveness. Fleeing Damon and Arizona, Tory hopscotches around the western part of the
country, landing north of Dallas, Texas at Josh McCain’s ranch. Josh is fighting his own
nightmares from his military tours overseas. He is just looking to build up Iron River Ranch and
find the elusive peace of mind and soul. And he knows that the pretty woman hoping to snag
the stable hand position at the Ranch will bring something other than peace to his doorstep…..
Wow! Talk about a roller-coaster ride! The thrills are real and they are chilling; somehow,
knowing who the “bad guy” is in this story only ratchets up the horror quotient, for Damon is evil
personified. Josh is exactly the hero you want in a romantic suspense story: flawed but
honorable, with a scarred and cranky shell covering a strong and tender heart. As I said in the
beginning, Tory is a strong woman who fell for a man with a pretty facade that hid a dangerous,
twisted psyche. Her actions at the Ranch and with Ivy and Josh just show how strong she is;
she is a worthy heroine! And her daughter Ivy will just pull at your heartstrings.
To add the the enjoyment factor, the secondary characters are wonderful; Ms. Martin does not
shy away from the tough topics like PTSD and the aftermath of war, as shown by Josh’s
ranch-hands, wounded veterans like himself. Their struggles will tug your heartstrings as well.
We also get a visit in with Josh’s brother Linc and Carly from “Beyond Reason” and glimpse
their continuing HEA. It was the perfect wrap-up to the Texas Trilogy Series!
“Beyond Control”, the third book of The Texas Trilogy by Kat Martin is a delightful and entertaining action packed romance. I very much enjoyed this novel. When I began Beyond Control, I discovered it was the third book in the series. After reading this story, I intend to go back and find Book 1 (Beyond Reason) and Book 2 (Beyond Danger) and read the remaining books of the Trilogy. Tory (Victoria Bradford) and her young daughter are on the run from an abusive man (Damon Bridger). The law can NOT protect Tory! Every time she settles in a new job Damon shows up and ruins her efforts at building a new life. When down to her last few dollars and a old beat-up car, Tory answers an employment ad placed by Joshua Cain (an ex-Marine) who has bought the Iron River Ranch and hopes to raise and train horses. He has two ex-Marines working with him on the ranch fixing up the buildings and repairing the fencing. He needs someone to help with cleaning stalls and helping out with the horses. Tory applies and promises if after 3 days she is not performing the job to his satisfaction, she will leave. Tory makes friends with “Satan”, a black stallion on the ranch that refuses to let any one touch him. Josh decides Tory may be able to help him win the stallion over to being handled and perhaps become one of his stallions for his breeding program. Tory and Josh develop a close friendship. But then trouble starts! Someone burns down the new stable, nearly killing many of the horses. More trouble occurs. Tory finally tells Josh about her hiding from Damon and that she is worried he may behind some of the new problems on the ranch. She plans to leave but Josh talks her into staying. More trouble occurs. It was hard to put the book down as I wanted to see what would happen with Josh and Tory. I highly recommend this novel to readers who enjoy action-filled romances!
Good suspenseful story with heat and a HEA!
I love all of Kat Martin’s books –
I have been waiting for Josh to find his HEA…and she comes along with her son as well as a psycho-ex-boyfriend. But Josh is the man to handle him! I like the way Kat Martin’s heroines are just weak wall flowers…they are tough as well as loving! Love their story as well as seeing some of the other characters in this series! Love the series… and totally recommend the series and this book.
Kat Martin always delivers!
A great book! The whole series was good! Hard to put down!!
ANOTHER GRIPPING STORY BY KAT MARTIN
I like Kat Martin’s books
A riveting, intense, emotional, ardent, sweet story that enticed my mind, touched my emotions and scared the daylights out of me.
Ever read a romantic suspense story with such vivid images, such a fear factor, that after you finish reading it late at night you go around making sure your windows are locked, and that you are safe inside? Yeah, Beyond Control did that to me, and that does not happen often.
The danger and attacks in the story are coming from more than one source, leaving the protagonists into the dire crossfires, personal attacks, fighting for their lives. No one is safe and collateral damage is not an issue, anything goes. The violence is vivid, and the brutal attacks towards women are detailed, drawn with clear and graphic lines, that enhance the storytelling but can trigger someone unexpectedly. The story is told from multiple points of views, in the third person, and the culprits get his chance to show his wicked, evil mindset as well, his thoughts and actions giving me the chills.
The whole ensemble is filled with fascinating, likable characters, and they contribute to the story, even a secondary love interest is part of the tale.
The hero and heroine, Victoria Langford and Josh Cain, are both complex, deep, well thought out and drawn characters that were easy to like and cheer for. Their stories were heartbreaking yet they had that unwavering will to survive, to make things better, to learn from the past mistakes, and thrive. The adoration and attraction between them were palpable, I loved watching them fall deeper each day, protecting each other, helping each other, and getting to know each other while learning to live with their inner demons and past mistakes. There were openness and honesty, fear and hesitation, even mixed messages and messed up minds, but there was never doubt about their feelings for each other.
With fierce and sharp suspense, brutal and savage attacks and action, adorable and ardent romance, life stories that had me sighing and my eyes burn with tears, the author tells a story that touched my heart and my emotions. While being entertaining and engrossing romantic suspense, the story was also inspiring and compelling, the domestic abuse scenes shattered my heart, but made me want to take action to provide a safe haven for the victims.
A delightfully enticing, exciting, entertaining, and horrid action-packed thriller, just perfectly balanced romantic suspense

Beyond Control (Texas Trilogy #3) by Kat Martin….. Another great page turner by Kat Martin ..I was so lucky to be able to preview this book on #NetGalley…. Victoria Bradford (Tory) widowed mother of four year old Ivy…running from her abusive ex-finance Damon… She arrives at the ranch of Josh Cain a Marine sniper returned from Afghanistan …. He knows Tory is trouble but he gives her a job… As with all of Kat’s books I felt like I was part of the story with all the feels laughter.. Tears..fear.. Danger.. There is more than one threat … I have read all three books and recommend them all ..Be sure to get BEYOND REASON and BEYOND DANGER too…
The final book in the Texas Trilogy is one thrilling read that kept me hanging on the edge of my seat.
Josh and Victoria are two strong, compelling characters that easily draw readers in and they have a strong chemistry that tells readers that this couple belongs together. But the relationship for this couple takes quite a bit of work as Josh holds out which leads to lots of emotional turmoil that has readers empathizing with the characters even while they feel the passion that burns between them. The plot is fast paced and keeps readers thrilled with lots of adrenaline pumping suspense and the story is also full of surprising twists that keeps them guessing as Victoria’s dangerous past stalks her. Be prepared to lose your heart to a four year old little girl as she adds emotional impact and depth to the story.
Once again, Kat Martin has brought another wonderful romance to vibrant life with her well written words and her captivating characters are full of depth and make quite the impact on readers as they feel as if they are part of the story. Altogether, the trilogy is one that readers that holds readers captive from the beginning of the first one all the way to the end of the last one.
