When Detective Cliff Husto investigates the deaths of a well-respected couple in Houston, the meager evidence points to a murder/suicide fueled by jealous rage. But Husto’s instinct tells him otherwise. He’d just stumbled onto the invisible trail of a fiendishly clever mass killer. A homicidal maniac who leaves no physical trace and no hint at a possible motive. As several employees of the iconic … employees of the iconic advertising agency Mathis & Oliver suddenly begin piling up dead, Husto begins a tangled cross-country search that ultimately leads to a horribly depraved family past, and a gruesomely executed present.
But time is running out to catch this Madman.
Because Cliff Husto, his lovely wife, their two young sons, and Irish setter Reagan are next on the killer’s agenda!

It was amazing!
Brilliantly twisted plot– I was recommended to read the detective Cliff Husto books and I was not disappointed! Intriguing characters, a fast weaving plot that had me reading till the wee hours of the morning. Not for the faint hearted. A crazed and disturbing serial killer that is expertly planted into your memory. Vivid and so real it makes you step back shakily as the plot twists and keeps you guessing to the end. I can’t wait to read more by this author
A classic thriller that matches the most acclaimed novels in the genre. I was completely caught by the story that got increasingly intricate and complex as the pages turned. As the investigation evolves, more employees of the M&O firm meet their fate, keeping the reader at the edge of the seat, revealing a tale of twisted revenge. Highly recommended!
I’ve read a lot of crime books but this one had me hooked with it’s fast pace and the hunt for a serial killer.
I could imagine the details of the scenes in my head as this descriptions were on point until the twists and turns made me having to change my way of seeing things which I was all for and stopped it from been boring.
A great book by the author and look forward to reading more from him in the near future.
A cleverly crafted, fast paced thriller. Powerful at times, Beyond Blood will keep you turning the pages. Author Jack King has done a great job developing a cast of believable characters. Will certainly be reading the next in the series.
I miscalculated and read the sequel before I read Beyond Blood, however, I need not have worried as both books stand alone in their own right and both are both very well written novels. Set in Houston in the eighties Cliff Husto is a younger and less experienced detective than in the sequel.
Mathis and Oliver are a National advertising agency rapidly rising to the top of their sector, when several of their employees are murdered in different parts of the Country, but what drives the killer and what is his motive to commit the crimes. I won’t give the plot away but it is something embedded in him from a very young age that tragically triggers his drive to commit murder, but what clues does he leave behind? All unravels in this systematically written thriller. Beyond Blood has many characters that keep you guessing throughout. A very well written and presented novel leaving the reader believing this could happen in real life. Strongly recommended.
Police Detective Cliff Husto is irresistibly brainy, gutsy, and an endearing family man. And he’s no hackneyed caricature of near-miraculous investigator! Author Jack King keeps us racing through corporate intrigue, fascinating characters and haunting experiences; at times, even into the perspective an extraordinary serial killer. The killer’s alibi? King has masterfully constructed this plot: Is the prime suspect an evil genius or brilliantly framed? Beyond Blood is no formula whodunit. You’ll need Husto to figure it out, and you may also need a prescription for frayed nerves!
