A second chance to win back the love of his life… job in another town, and when their divorce comes through after Christmas, it’ll be time for him to move on.
Caught up in a cycle of pain and grief, Josie’s retreated into her shell, cutting herself off from her family and friends, and refusing to talk about the event that broke up her marriage. As a psychologist, she knows she’s locked in a destructive behavioral pattern, but it’s impossible to break it. Despair threatens to overwhelm her—and then, on the evening of her friend’s bachelorette party, Beck does something that finally opens the floodgates, and she begins to talk.
For the first time, the pain of the past lifts, and the ice around her heart starts to thaw. At the wedding, she dances with Beck, and after a few drinks, it’s all too easy to have a kiss – and maybe more – for old time’s sake. Suddenly, the future’s looking much brighter. But can they both overcome the problems of their past enough to give their love a second chance?

Between you, Me, and the Bedpost By Serenity Woods
Between the Sheets #5
Reading the last book in this series was bittersweet. I finally found out why Beck and Josie broke up years before and I was then given the chance to see what they would do when the situation was right for them to perhaps have a HEA together if they were both on the same page at the same time. The author made me feel with both Josie and Beck and understand where they were coming from. The fact that they both still loved one another throughout was amazing even though they were trying to move on with their lives…sort of. Edward, their son, was a sweetie. Getting to see how the couples from previous stories was a delight and hearing about people from other series tweaked memories of stories I have read in the past and would like to revisit in the future.
This is another stellar story from Serenity Woods – one that I highly recommend! I always look forward to reading what this author publishes and can’t wait to see what will come next.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Love Conquers Pain.
I, along with many other readers I am sure, have been rooting for Beck and Josie to get back together. I am so glad the author didn’t decide to give them new love interests. Instead this was a book about overcoming tragedy and pain, coming through to the light on the other side; family and love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Read 2019
Loved this series. Serenity Woods draws you into her characters and it’s hard to put down the book. Can’t wait for another series.
Josie and Beck were the perfect couple. Then suddenly they weren’t. Neither would talk about it. Time, a wedding and a sick child helped to pull them together in time for Christmas. Very good. Hard to put down
Finally Beck and Josie’s Turn
This is the last book in the Between the Sheets series by Serenity Woods. Although it can be read independently of the others like all of Ms. Wood’s series. (It is just fun to read about your “old friends” from the other books though.)
Beck and Josie have a history. A long history in that they have been married and have a child together. They separated due to a lot of issues including Josie’s miscarriage and the traumatic emotional aftermath. When a woman has a marriage, people expect her to have issues but to deal with them and move on. Pretty fast. But the reality is that every one of us processes grief differently and different speeds. And it isn’t just mum who has to deal with her grief but the dad does too.
Beck and Josie both struggle to move on. Josie is a therapist and one of the hardest things for a therapist to do is to accept that she is struggling. The struggles and emotional trauma is too much for both Beck and Josie. They end up separating and are almost at the end of their three year waiting period for their divorce to be final when circumstances bring them back together. Beck still loves Josie and Josie still loves Beck. And they decide to give it try.
Can true love make it? Can love really conquer all? Well, read this lovely story to find out.
Ms. Woods’ novels are always a wonderful escape into the lovely world of New Zealand and the wonderful people who live there.
I did receive a copy of this novel ahead of time from Ms. Woods in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. I have read the book twice now and my opinion after the second read still hasn’t changed so I am guessing that this review can be considered unbiased and fair.
I’ve been waiting for Beck and Josie’s story in the Between the Sheets series by Serenity Woods, and this story was everything I hoped it would be. This is a wonderful second chance at love story. Beck and Josie are still in love with each other, despite their impending divorce. Can they overcome what has happened in the past and achieve their HEA?
All of the characters in this series feel like real, people, who make you want to root for them. They all have flaws, and even though their HEA might not be typical of all romance novels, they are extremely satisfying.
I was given an ARC of this book but my opinions are my own
4.5 Stars for Between You, Me, and the Bedpost (Between the Sheets Book 5)
This may be book 5 bit like all the rest of this series it can be read as a standalone, nec again this author paints so many pictures with her words and I felt like I had been transported to New Zealand.
This is a true second chance love story with Josie and Beck only weeks away from their divorce becoming final, life has not been easy for this couple yet they still managed remained friends through the tragedy of losing a baby, they still loved each other, they have an adorable little boy together but Josie can’t get past the loss. Attending their best friend’s wedding gives them the push they need to talk and remember what they had and how they really feel about each other…….
This author is never afraid to cover hard subjects and this story has to be one of the hardest yet it was still full of love with just a tiny mix of humour. A beautifully written love story that had me feeling like I was home with family and friends. Looking forward to more from this group of friends.
One of the most beautiful romances ever written
From the very first paragraph, I was captivated by this warm, second-chance romance. Josie and Beck are wonderful people who I adore. The writing lets you inside their most intimate thoughts and their most tender emotions. I felt that this novel expresses love in the truest, most wonderful way that I have ever read. I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about this most beautiful novel. I hope that everyone who loves contemporary romance hears about it and reads it because it would be a shame for romance lovers not to experience this novel. Serenity Woods writes so many romances of the highest quality, but I think this one is the best yet.
Trigger warning: a miscarriage is briefly described in a flashback.
The love scenes are searingly steamy with exquisite intimacy. The setting is the North Island of New Zealand, and it is described so well that it felt like I was actually there. As an added bonus, the book includes the wedding of Danny and Hermione from the earlier book, “An Ocean Between Us”. Plus, the wedding takes place at the same gorgeous vineyard from the wonderful “Blue Penguin Bay” trilogy!
I received a free advanced reading copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. I was not paid for this review.
This is quite an emotional story. Beck and Josie are so broken after their loss, she moves out and pushes Beck away. They have a turning point with two weeks left before the divorce. Through the series you have been rooting for them to get back together. They needed the time to communicate and be honest with themselves and each other.
When I received this ARC, I immediately stopped everything so that I could read Beck and Josie’s story. I absolutely was not disappointed.
We finally get to find out what separated Beck and Josie. There is so much emotion involved. Can they really overcome the past?
Serenity Woods weaves their tale so you feel the sense of overwhelming love they share; of Josie rising from a tunnel of darkness; of Beck wanting, but not believing it was possible; of Beck and Josie both hoping against hope, and moving cautiously back toward each other; and their family and friends hoping it all works out for them. You get all the feels.
Beck’s love and support of Josie is awesome. Their chemistry and communication is loving, sweet, and tender. You get the steamy scenes that are so sensual. This book makes you hopeful, makes you happy, and makes you smile. Then you get that special HEA. I’m slightly sad that this is the last book in the series, but it was so well done that I just feel satisfied.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I am so happy to finally get Josie and Beck’s story. I’ve been wondering what happened between them. To read that it was something that so many couples deal with was great. Their story is something that I could relate to on some levels, and I think a lot of people will be able to as well. It shows that not all romances are sunshine and sparkle, that there are dark times.
The growth that the characters had was wonderful as they both came to realize things about themselves and their relationship. It was a well-deserved HEA, and not just for Josie and Beck as a couple, but for the series as well.
4 Star Review of Between You, Me & The Bedpost (Between The Sheets #5) by Serenity Woods
The fifth book in the series and a stand alone. I have only read one other book in this series and I had absolutely no trouble at all.
I enjoy Ms. Woods writing style; her characters are always believable and the way she describes the surroundings, often makes me feel as though I am seeing the places she talks about in my mind.
Between You, Me & The Bedpost is Josie and Beck’s second chance at love story. Beck’s has done everything he can think of to get his wife back with no success. Finally he decides that enough is enough and applies for a job in another town.
Josie has totally withdrawn from her family and friends. As a psychologist she knows what she is doing but is helpless to stop herself.
No one knows why they separated and finally in this story we find out. After dancing at their friend’s wedding and finally telling their friends what led to the divorce proceedings, the wall that Josie has built up finally starts to crumble.
I really enjoyed this story, although the pain and heartache at times was overwhelming. This is a story about coming to terms with the past, of moving through the darkness and finally coming out the other side into the light.
Can Beck finally convince Josie that the love they share is worth fighting for or will the divorce go through?
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
This is the 5th book in the Between the Sheets series, named after the bar and meeting place featured in the books. Between You, Me and the Bedpost stands alone, so you do not have to read the other books in the series, but the book is so much richer if you do. You will be visiting old friends in this book, and in the previous books Josie and Beck were in the background as a sad story of a married couple and their young son who were separated but you had the feeling that they should be back together. You wanted to bang their heads together to make them see that they still love each other. All they need is a nudge. The marriage of their friends gave them the push to talk to their friends and, more importantly, to each other about why they separated. I am so glad that we finally get their story.
Serenity Woods is never afraid to tackle difficult situations and add depth and thoughtfulness to her books. I should know, I have read and loved over 40 of them! In this book she talks about the pain and misery that trying hard to conceive another child and then losing the baby to a miscarriage can rack on a marriage. They are still so much in love, and it sure comes across in the book. It is so romantic and full of feeling and love. But they don’t know how to start over again and put the past behind them. The tension builds in the book as the old sexual attraction flares up and they both face career decisions and a pending divorce decree that could seal their fate. No spoilers here; you just have to read this book. Then wipe the tears from your eyes!
