Another 3.5 rating from me. This is my second time travel book, and I’ve come to the conclusion, they aren’t really my thing. The story was well written and very interesting, but I found it didn’t really hold my attention for long periods of time. I just felt lost at times.
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and looked forward to reading this book. However I wasn’t very far into the story before I felt lost. It truly felt like I somehow missed an entire book, I finished the book with a lot more questions. Mackenzie is Drew’s daughter, but in the previous books I got the impression Drew was unmarried and definitely not a father, what happened to Kenzie’s mom, what was that story line? And what was with all sudden interest in the paranormal? What’s going on with Lacey and Piper who only get a passing mention in this book? While it was imaginative what they did with Prince in this story, why couldn’t Drew teleport himself like he could in the previous book? And what is going to happen with Tess? This has been my least favorite book in the series.
On a redeeming note, I really enjoyed York and Izzy’s part of the story.
If you like time travel romantic suspense, don’t miss this one! I haven’t read the other books in this series, but was not lost. I felt the first third of this book was slow. But I realize it all needed to be set up and laid out. When the action finally started, Wow! It didn’t let up. Exciting. Complicated. Back and forth in history. Then, the ending……so nice and all put together!
I was gifted an Audible version by the author through Story Origin. The narrator was so believable with different voices for each character. Excellent job.
Well written and a smooth read. This brings all the books together. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Great read I recommend it to all.
This is the third book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries Series, an amazing Time Travel romance. The characters are amazing. The storyline is captivating, fast paced, intricate, and filled with adventure, mystery, and action. Kristin James did a wonderful job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, easy to understand, with a great range of voices. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it.

While technically a standalone, Between the Shadows is best read in order – as the third and final book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series. I love how Casi McLean plays with time, fate and lineage in this series. This is such a smart series. The twists and turns throughout makes Between the Shadows a fun rollercoaster of adventure and emotion.
I received this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Here are my two big surprises about this book: 1) I’ve never read time travel romantic suspense before, and loved it; 2) I hadn’t read the first two in this series, and found it a thoroughly enjoyable standalone. A friend recommended it, and it’s a dazzler. Two friends, York Attaway and Mackenzie Reynolds, make a trip to 1865 Georgia at the end of the Civil War to find beautiful Isobel, who had appeared to York. Izzie is injured, kidnapped, and in trouble.
What’s special about this story is its depiction of the historic time, as well as its fast, complex pace. It’s captivating how it switches from past to present, interweaving both danger and romance along the way. I’m hooked! Now I’m going to read the first two books in this really fascinating time travel series. Five stars!
The author gave me copies of the first 2 books in this series to review and I loved them so much that I bought the 3rd one as soon as I finished the 2nd one. This time we meet Drew’s daughter McKenzie and York, a visitor from the future. They go back to 1865 Georgia to find an injured girl who had appeared to York. Things don’t go quite as planned, adding a wrinkle to the story. I love this time period and was totally involved in this mystery. It was a very satisfying story. If it is the end of the series, it was a fitting ending. But I enjoyed it so much I hope it is not the end.
An interesting time travel adventure, with an unexpected end. Very entertaining. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I think this book would be great for fans of Timeline by Michael Crichton. I enjoyed this book much more than the first one in the series’ I love how everything is all tied together and comes around full circle. The narrator did a good job of giving a voice to the characters. I received a free copy for review
York’s day started with a normal walk with his dog around the lake. It ended with finding a girl wrapped in a blue mist. Rather than being afraid, York jumps on the opportunity to help the young women, becoming more intrigued when he finds out the girl is from over a century ago. Kenzie, faced with the deteriorating condition of her grandmother, is approached by York with a quest.
I haven’t read very many time travel romances, but this was an interesting story. It was fast-paced, and there were many subplots to keep the story engaging. This was my first story by Miss McLean, but it was very engaging. This is the type of story that you can get lost in for hours.
The narrator did a great job.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Shadows is the third book in the Lake Lanier series. I have never read about time travel but this series has been very interesting. Kenzi and York go back to the 1800’s to try to save a woman York feels like he has to save, but while there some things go right and some things go wrong. James is her brother and helps them save her, but he ends up getting injured and Kenzi has to save him. But can she leave York in 1865 to take James back to the future and how will Tess handle all this extra travel?
WOW!! This book has everything in it, it also ties everything together from the previous books!!
York now lives in the 21 century and discovers a young lady along the water ways, him and Kenzi decide to time travel back to 1865 to help the young lady before she dies!
Will Kenzi and York find her in time or will they be lost forever?
A quick enjoyable read that pulls the whole trilogy together. I recommend you read this series in order for it to flow.
Between the Shadows follow our time traveling family and their adventures. This time we get McKenzie, Drew’s daughter and also a character from book two York. They have to travel in time to help a friend.
This one is a little more confusing than the other ones but not bad.
