Annabelle Winter knows the hells of East London. The daughter of a conman and fallen lady, she’s seen darkness that most could never imagine. After her parents’ deaths, she finds herself in a workhouse willing to do almost anything to escape the streets. When her uncle rescues her, her dreams seem to be coming true. But her uncle has a wicked plan. Now, entrapped by his licentious and illegal … gaming club, Annabelle’s fate is to be the mistress of the Prince of Wales, a pawn used to bring power to her uncle. But she is no damsel in distress and when she meets a dangerous duke in the misty night, she determines to take her fate into her own hands. But will this duke turn out to be the devil?
Determined to avenge his sister’s brutal attack, the Duke of Ardore is after a small group of men who all revolve around a illegal gambling club. There he discovers a woman whose soul must be as black as her uncle’s, but Ardore cannot escape how drawn he is to Annabelle, or how his soul seems to recognize hers. In a twist of events, she is thrown into his keeping and his life. But the devil inside him is strong and he must decide if vengeance at any price is more important than love.

Eva Devon writes with such intensity… her characters are larger than life, but profoundly human; the dilemmas they face are soul-wrenching and the love they find is the truly, madly, deeply variety. I scarfed this story up in one evening, and can’t wait for the next one in the series. These are dukes who know how to duke!
Can’t wait for the next!!
Started reading and didn’t go to bed until I had finished it!
A beautifully written continuation of the series
This is a beautifully written continuation of a series that keeps on giving. The plot is full of emotion, suspense, love and tragedy. The characters are crafted brilliantly, and the villains are particularly vile. This book will suit anybody who loves historical romances that have plenty of twists and turns
Tristan, Duke of Ardore is out for revenge. A man who molested his sister must pay. His visit to one of the most despicable gaming clubs known to men who play deep, gives him an opportunity. Everything goes awry when Annabelle Winters sees a way to save Tristan from death and a way out for herself. A darker side of romance with redemption for a young woman who never thought she deserved it. I’m addicted to this series!
Between the Duke and the Devil by Eva Devon
A Duke’s Secret Series Book Four
Tristan Trent, The Duke of Ardore, was a man with a mission. A mission of revenge. He could almost reach the end. Taste his final victory. He didn’t need a beautiful distraction while on his mission…and yet, he couldn’t ignore her.
Annabelle Winters wanted freedom but knew that was a dream…a hope…she’d never reach. She survived the streets and worse. In her uncle’s castle…doing his bidding, as distasteful as it was, still gave her a better home and way of life. Until it wasn’t going to be enough.
Maybe it was the wrong place at the wrong time…or perhaps the right place. But Tristan’s and Annabelle’s lives clashed and it seemed neither would get their hope…dreams…revenge. Excellent series. This story was really unique in ways that I don’t want to mention and spoil for anyone.

Between the Devil and the Duke
The Duke’s Secret
book 4
by Eva Devon
I LOVED LOVED Between the Devil and the Duke! I clearly have to say that this was such an enthralling read! Eva Devon can do no wrong!
Annabelle and Tristan were just amazing characters, Tristan is the dark brooding hero with only one thing on his mind – revenge, nothing and no one will stand in his way. Fate has a way of changing destiny and plans don’t always work out the way they’re anticipated.
Annabelle, Annabelle what can I say? She’s a warrior but yet oh so fragile. A woman emotionally and physically abused, used as a pawn by her brutal fiend of an uncle! Her spirit could never be broken. I loved her feisty character and how she found strength from the night sky and the stars. She believed herself tainted, unworthy of love and happiness.
Not a word wasted and every chapter so intelligently written, the main characters will not be forgotten anytime soon. This story has everything – angst, heartache twists and turns, deplorable villains and a very satisfying happily ever after.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this story, although part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
