And the brooding piano prodigy isn’t offering it.
We just want one night to forget the rest of the world.
His touch sparks a fire like I’ve never felt, His kisses are intoxicating and unforgettable.
But it’s the tenderness in his eyes that leaves me spellbound.
I share secrets with him I’d never told anyone else, his arms a safe haven where I want to rest forever.

This is a such a great read. The H, Carter and the h, Elisabeth have great chemistry when they meet. Their meeting is serendipitous, but the timing is, sadly, off. This book is a roller coaster and it’s a wild ride because it seems the universe will not settle with allowing Carter and Elisabeth to be together. Great story with some shockers and now I just want book 2 because. The story is masterfully told as the author has a great storytelling and writing gift.
There was NOTHING about this book that I didn’t love. Thank goodness these books release close to one another because that ending will need to be resolved soon!! It is apparent that Elisabeth and Carter are going to have to work for their love story! Dylan Allen has captivated me with her writing yet again.
I keep revisiting Between Now and Forever in my mind and every time I go back to the story and the characters, more layers and intrigue are added. Dylan has vividly created two characters, each with their own struggles for self-preservation and wrought with feelings of duty or obligation. The world they are trying to survive in is full of old-fashioned, despicable, and morally corrupt obstacles. You are going to want to stab several characters in this story and your heart will hurt at times. Carter and Elisabeth come together desperately and it’s intense and so sensual. They both immediately feel the connection but circumstances rip them apart in a fantastically painful way. Their story is only beginning and I can’t wait to find out how they claw their way back to each other. It’s going to be hard and agonizing and so worth it in the end—I just know it! 5 stars for Between Now and Forever, the first book in a trilogy that starts off with a decisive bang!
I’m seriously at a lost for words about Between Now and Forever (Forever Trilogy #1). My mind is all over the place and so is my heart. I was 11% into Between Now and Forever and I knew that I was in for one hell of an emotional ride. I was immediately entranced with this storyline and it consumed me. This book is different from what Ms. Allen usually writes, it’s beyond what I expected, it’s utterly outstanding and I’m thrilled that she created this masterpiece.
Carter and Elisabeth are phenomenal characters who were filled so much depth, meaning and captured my heart instantly. Their story is profound and I loved the realistic aspect of it. Elisabeth, my goodness my heart just broke for her at times given her upbringing (her dad and grandmother needed a hard throat punch) and lack of self confidence. I wanted to crawl inside this book, give her the biggest hug and be her best friend. However, there is so much more to her than what she believes and I can’t wait to see her tap into her strength. And Carter, he was charming, a little broody at times but with a huge heart of gold. Like Elisabeth, he had familial issues that lead to some hard times and there was a certain vulnerability about both of them. The connection and chemistry between them was immediate, it was like no other and leapt off the pages.
To say that I am anticipating reading Between Now and Heartbreak is an understatement. I’m pretty sure it will break my soul however, I’m looking forward to every single word!!!
Dylan Allen takes you for a crazy ride in this story. We all have our battle scars. We all have triumphs and tragedies. I love her strong characters and Elisabeth and her story is no exception. This book made me jealous and maybe a little turned on. Then it made me sad and angry. It made me sigh and swoon. It made me cheer and be proud. It knocked me on my behind over and over. I wondered just how much Liz could take. She’s got a strong backbone and will, but life keeps coming at her. She has people who are always in her corner but then life happens. I need to keep following her journey.
There goes my heart. By now I should be used to the emotional rollercoasters of Dylan’s stories. Let me tell you I was not prepared nor did I expected this level of anguish in Between Now and Forever.
This is a love story. One I know will have a happily ever after. But the journey to that forever is one full of pain, mistakes, heartache and loss along the way.
My heart was completely twisted by Elizabeth and Carter’s story. Book one of the Forever Trilogy will let us meet Beth and Carter as they are navigating their young life and family life.
There’s so many twists and turns in it that I guarantee you will be dropping your jaw and there will be lots of WTH and OMGs along the way. I seriously wanted to throw my kindle to the wall and scream at Dylan a few times. I couldn’t believe she put me through all the anguish along the way with this couple. The main characters will steal your heart but there’s other that I bet, like me, you will wish to get inside the book and strangle them.
The love connection between Beth and Carter was instant and so deep. You will swoon over their conversations and banter. Those first love butterflies will be present. The kind you wish to experience once more. They are both artists and as so they are very passionate people. This couple is also complicated and flawed. So many wounds inside their souls that will make you want to crawl inside the book and hug them.
There’s a MAYOR cliffhanger in book one that will leave you speechless and begging for book 2. So 1-clicking is a must.
„Baby, real love stories- the ones worth telling- they never end.”
No one can shook my world and leave me breathless like Dylan Allen. The depth of her stories is always going straight to my heart and her writing style is so lirycal that I feel like listening to the siren’s song. Between Now and Forever made me completely enthralled. Elisabeth and Carter’s story is a rollercoaster of feelings, but you have no choice- you need to hold the breath and get ready for the ride. Because that’s what their story is- a journey, full of bumps and unexpected turns. But if the prologue is even a little taste what we could expect in the end of this journey, then every obstacle in their way will be worth it!
I was enraptured by these characters- so perfectly imperfect and so authentic! They’re both have their own insecurities, hopes and desires. Carter and Beth’s meeting was coincidental, but instantly connected them on a deep level. It’s like the universe knew that these two needed each other and pushed them into each other’s arms. But fate likes to play dirty and Carter and Elisabeth became a star-crossed lovers. I’m aware that’s not really saying much, but believe me- the best way to experience this story is to dive into it head-first. That’s how you’ll fully feel every single emotion contained in this book. And there’s a lot of those!
Dylan Allen proved once again that she’s an amazing storyteller. There are no words to describe how immersed I was in this story. I could feel the love, lust and longing. I got through ache, heartbreak and disappointment. But even dragged through an emotional grinder I crave more, because I know that Beth and Carter’s story will be worth every ounce of pain they experienced. Call me an emotional masochist, but this angst-fest was so heartbreakingly beautiful that I’m completely hooked. The ending was so shocking, that I’m ready to sell my soul to get the answers asap!
Bravo, Dylan! You created my newest addiction!
I’m convinced that Dylan Allen is trying to kill us all with that massive cliff-hanger of an ending!!!!
Like, seriously….wtf am I supposed to do with my life while I wait for book 2?!
So, maybe you’ve heard that I like ANGST? OMG…THIS. BOOK. NEARLY.KILLED. ME.
WOWZA!
When the artistic Carter meets little miss innocent Elisabeth while on vacation, the connection was immediate and intense. I mean…whew…these two connected y’all! The chemistry was off the charts insane and the storyline surrounding these two had me in clutches. Handcuffed to my Kindle!!
If you haven’t read a Dylan Allen book before….this is where you jump in! You’ll be hooked, and miserable like me awaiting the second book (just kidding, we love DA). This book has so many highs, lows, and I feel like I’ve just gotten off of the best/worst roller coaster of my romance life. I don’t know which way is up right now. I do believe this is her most angst filled, sordid, frustrating, complicated and gah-mazing book yet! Which of course means….I LOVED IT!
Highly recommended for those who like to read about heart stopping heroes & swoon-worthy couples while simultaneously chewing off all of their fingernails. It’s delicious torture I tell you!
With each book I read from Dylan Allen, I fall more in love with her words!!
I’m not even sure where to start with this review. I am feeling all kinds of feels right now! I mean dang, the prologue itself grabbed me and made me swoon and fan myself. You could FEEL the love that Elizabeth and Carter have for each other. Getting to their HEA is definitely not going to be easy, that’s for sure. The each have their own demons and tragedies that they need to work through. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out!!!
CRAZED – CONTENT – MAD – DISTRAUGHT – LOVE – OUTRAGE – HEARTBROKEN – SEDUCTIVE – Those are just a FEW of the emotions that “Between Now and Forever” elicits. Dylan Allen’s latest literary sensation left me in a jumbled state – staggered, off balance, but mostly flabbergasted and excited for what this story holds. I am a lover of her writing, and this book has unequivocally become her best writing to date. These characters and situations lay the ground work for what is sure to be a sumptuous trilogy.
Elisabeth and Carter’s story is unique and strategically woven to where the unraveling takes your breath completely away in more than one way. I literally spent so much time talking out loud to these characters, chastising them for what they did or didn’t do. So many “OMG” moments between characters caused me to pause in disbelief over something they said or did. Dylan Allen is a master in taking you to the edge but slowly drawing you back in for everything that comes before the crescendo. This story is no exception. There is so much to love (and loathe) in this story. Characters that are twisted and deplorable are just as intriguing as the ones you love in this book. Their atrocious demeanor and actions make you yearn for the tender, passionate, and loving moments, which Allen delivers in spades.
Aside from this book being an absolute page turner, its staying power is irrefutable. Elisabeth and Carter truly stay in your heart. There is a purity about them that is fascinating and just grabs at you. As kismet as their union is, presuming that their story follows suit would be a foolish notion. But their volatile passion for one another is what provides fuel for this story.
There are so many aspects of this story that will tickle any romance reader’s fancy. Falling in love with Elisabeth and Carter is guaranteed, and definitive. Allen, being the wordsmith that she is, provides so many treats in this book that you will greedily (and happily) devour. YOU CAN NOT MISS picking this one up. You will be so happy you did.
Where to start first? Hmm, I guess I should start by saying how much I love the cover. I mean I don’t always look at the covers and debate on if they are good to read or not but this one drew my attention and I just had to read it. Elizabeth and Carter’s story drew me in and kept me going. I love the angst and the raw emotion you can feel through her writing. I cannot wait till the next book comes out!!!!
Dylan Allen’s talent never ceases to amaze me. I was immediately pulled straight into this complex tale.
This book has so many layers. The level of pain and misery the characters fight through is gut wrenching.
The tale is woven just right, the story flows as if it is poetry dripping from the authors pen. Although the angst is off the charts, it is just right for this story.
I am excited for book 2 to answer some lingering questions and provide some relief for the poor souls, the characters and readers alike.
I have no words to describe how amazing and wonderfully written this book is! This author weaves together such an amazing story that I was pulled into it’s tight, unrelenting clutches right from the prologue and was turning pages and forgoing sleep because I just couldn’t put it down. To say that I am now in a massive book hangover is an understatement. Between Now and Forever is one of those books that you are loathe to finish because it is so good, but you also can’t put it down as you need to find out what happens.
Beth and Carter are both strong, complex, well-developed characters that you cannot help but love. In their first meeting, you could really feel the gravitational pull between the two of them. They experience an intense connection that neither one can deny, but so many obstacles stand in their way.
Beth has a beautiful soul and is resilient in the face of cruelty and tragedy. At times, I felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest as I read what all she endured. Carter’s character has many layers. He is picking up the pieces after being on a downward spiral. While the two of them each experience such hardship, their feelings towards each other never waiver. Between Now and Forever will put you through all of the feels and is a rollercoaster of a ride. It is book 1 in a trilogy so there is a cliffhanger. This book is beautifully written with an intriguing storyline, engaging characters, and a strong need for a box of tissues.
This book has made me feel so many emotions. I felt Elisabeth’s emotions. I remember just wanting to fit in the “in crowd”. This book made me sob. I hate that they both suffer loss especially of someone who meant so much. I couldn’t put this away to sleep. I felt the connection of Elisabeth to Carter… the book was a whirlwind.
I loved these beautiful words. “In my mind’s eye, I see visions of us our kissing mouths sealed together, eyes closed. Our bodies are a midnight blue flecked with gold. We have stars for eyes and moonbeams for hair, and we hover above the ground on wings spun from silvery starlight.”
Great
Elisabeth is treated horribly by everyone in her life but her brother. She expects nothing more. She goes to a party and meets Carter. He has his own demons. Tragedy happens to both of them. Can they find a way to be together. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended. Ends with a cliffhanger.
You will be put through the ringer but no surprises there.
Emotionally strung out, like strung out.
It starts with a very adorable scene which I loved however the adorable turned quickly into heartbreak, pain, fear, and loss.
I know what to expect I have read her before but sheesh gut-wrenching.
Even though this is a hard read you still craving for more.
Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.
This book has gotten me hooked. I’ll be honest – I was a little apprehensive when I started the book. The beginning of the story kind of lost me but I kept reading. I’m so glad I continued to read because I found a character I can readily relate to, a story line I wanted more of, and characters that seemed so real. This is the first book I have read by Dylan Allen and I’m hooked. I instantly downloaded book #2 in the series. I need to know what happens next. Ahhhh!
“We went to hell and back, and for this perfect moment, I’d do it again a thousand times.”
Oh I really wanted to love this book so hard. I really did because the characters are amazing. But I just came up only really liking this book. And I’m not quite sure if I’m really intrigued enough to continue this story. I guess my main problem with this story is that the thrill, the angst is missing. The prologue, no matter how cute and lovely it is, it just takes away the outcome of the story. At least to me it did. So I knew how the story would end after three books, no matter the story in between.
Nevertheless Dylan Allen with her captivating writing style created again a wonderful couple you can’t help but fall for. It was easy to follow Beth and Carter’s journey which was spiked with emotion, love and heartbreak.
Between Now and Forever is a wonderful start to the Forever Trilogy that will leave you with your heart beating faster and your mind smiling.
“”Baby, real love stories – the ones worth telling – they never end.””
Baby, real love stories – the ones worth telling – they never end.
Between Now and Forever, book one in Forever Trilogy is an unputdownable and emotional story about two young people who met at a critical point of their lives. A story about two souls struggling with family expectations, their own flaws and fears. Dylan Allen poured her heart by creating Elisabeth and Carter’s beautiful, yet very dramatic story. And the unexpected twist and turns will make you want to throw your kindle on the wall.
Because after prologue you will know the way to accept yourself and finding unconditional love isn’t going to be easy. Prepare for tears, heartache, helpless, anger and in the end happiness.
Elisabeth is an innocent, strong, sweet young woman with big dreams and even bigger heart but she is crushed. Crushed after years of judgmental and painful words, yet she still wants to be accepted, especially by her hateful father. He views her as a burden and her beautiful flaw as a shame. When she finally has a chance to be accepted, humiliation follows her like a shadow. But her supposedly the worst day turned out to the most amazing and life-changing.
Carter is a young, passionate and very talented pianist. After some unfortunate circumstances, he has to stay away from the spotlight and decides to spend some time with family and reconnect with them on vacation. He also deals with his own personal secrets and wants to know the truth, even the worst one.
Beth and Carter were perfect together, like two half of an apple. They fall for each other fast and deep. Their every encounter was emotional, passionate and simply amazing. They did not see the flaws and wounds only the beauty and battle scars.
But when the life threw obstacles under their feet they did not realize how painfully complicated their relationship will become.
I can’t wait for the next book. I am completely addicted!
