He’s on the edge of stardom.I’m on the edge of disaster. One night will change our lives forever…I’m standing in the middle of a storm when Carter Bosh asks me to dance. He’s a complete stranger, but his outstretched hand and glittering green eyes are too tempting to resist.I’m looking for forever. And the brooding piano prodigy isn’t offering it.We just want one night to forget the rest of the … looking for forever.
And the brooding piano prodigy isn’t offering it.
We just want one night to forget the rest of the world.
His touch sparks a fire like I’ve never felt, His kisses are intoxicating and unforgettable.
But it’s the tenderness in his eyes that leaves me spellbound.
I share secrets with him I’d never told anyone else, his arms a safe haven where I want to rest forever.
I should have known the sunrise would bring tragedy.
Because, fairytales weren’t written about girls like me.
And when we’re forced apart, I find myself in the fight of my life. He might be my knight in shining armor, but I don’t need him to save me, I need him to pass me a sword.
Because this is one fight I refuse to lose, and I won’t stop until he’s my happily ever after….

A Riveting tale of budding love which is on a path to cul-de-sac. A dead end because like Cinderella, Elisabeth is hog tied by her father and subjected to a restricted lifestyle. Her heart isn’t allowd to flutter, her emotions are nipped, her dreams have had their wings clipped.
“Elisabeth Mortimer Wells had wings and flawless skin that changed colors, depending on my mood. And when my the handsome, dark-haired Fey lord kissed me, I was always the same emerald color of his eyes.”
She’s grounded, trapped and helpless. The only respite is her brother James, but then…
In between all this melee is her to mentor, emotional abuser Duke Tremaine who lures her to a camp where she stumbles upon Carter Bosh.
“Lord, but I’m a sucker for a girl who likes music enough to dance all by herself. Add to that how damn pretty she looks from here and it’s like waving a red flag at a bull. But, a bull who knows its days of goring matadors are behind it.”
He can be her savior if only he came to terms with his own dark patches and then maybe they can both travel to the sparkling future
“I’m the only introvert.
The only artist.
The only one who needed glasses.
The only one who didn’t need braces.
The only one who had violent fits in his sleep and fought his way through high school.
The only one whose anxiety can be crippling.”
The story is still almost like an introduction to the tempestous relationships to come. Book 1 sets the stage for a rocky road, full of twists and turns, so it’s only obvious that this would end in a cliffhanger. Good thing we don’t have to wait for long!!!
Dylan writes from the heart, her stories carry a lot of soul. Her characters are human, flawed and imperfect…which adds to the perfection of the story
4 stars for Lucky Clover
There are very few authors who can pull off a trilogy and do it well and this author is one of them. I have to admit the first book I read by this author wasn’t my favorite. I mean I read books to escape and hers was just to real and hit to close to home. Then I read another, I couldn’t stay away. Now here I am a fan. Ms Allen’s books are real and painful. Her characters are the people you meet on the street, your best friend, the hidden librarian, the scorned socialite, the forgotten child. Her books aren’t easy to read because they carry a truth that we aren’t really used to in books, you know what I mean. This time we have a girl who isn’t perfect coming from a man who sees her as nothing but an object used for advancement. Yes it’s no longer the age of arranged marriages as we know them and this young lady surely has a choice, or does she. He is perfectly broken but as his mother says aren’t we all. He finds out his life is a lie and no longer knows who and what he is.
The struggle these two have individually is part of what draws them to each other but ultimately what breaks them apart. Family restrictions and demands become their enemy. There’s nothing easy about this part of their story however it lays the foundation and let’s us know who and what they are fighting for. Yes there is a cliff-hanger but since it’s a trilogy that shouldn’t be a surprise. This isn’t a short fast read that’s broken up for profits, it’s broken up because there’s a real story to tell and it has to be done correct. Beth and Carter have just begun the fight to become them. They are standing on the precipice between now and forever and it will be a battle not only for the desires of their heart but for their very souls and everything they truly are.
I absolutely LOVED this book!! You are all going to die!! This book is EVERYTHING!! It is filled with so much love and angst, unbelievable heartache, and so MUCH MORE!!!
Fairytales aren’t always happiness and rainbows, sometimes they’re filled with heartbreak and loss, ultimate sacrifice, ugly roads, and overcoming tragedy all to get to the best love story of all time!
This book will gut punch you in the FEELS!!!
Beth/Liz and Carter first meet at one of the worst points in both their lives, but that moment between them , it’s like the world around them ceased to exist, it was just them.
Although they have a night that neither one will ever forget, it’s quickly followed by so much tragedy and heartbreak.
This book is one of the best books I’ve read!!! I am absolutely in love with this one!!! This is a trilogy, and I can not wait for the next book!!
CARTER stole my heart. I fell for him the minute I met him. I love him and cannot wait to spend more time with him! #NeedBookTwoRFN! I want to be his kryptonite!
Between Now and Forever is book one in the Forever Trilogy and Dylan Allen has succeeded in setting up what I’m sure is to be a super bumpy ride for Beth and Carter. I loved these two together, and wanted more scenes between them. There were some secondary characters I wanted to dick punch, maybe even a tit punch as well. Not gonna lie.
This love story is just the beginning of what I’m sure will be a heart-wrenching saga and I know Dylan will deliver so many more gut punches. I’ve buckled up, and braced myself for book 2, Between Now and Heartbreak.
Also, that ending!!! I need to know wtf is going to happen, like RIGHT NOW.
I just don’t even know what to say. This book was amazing. Heartbreakingly beautiful. I wish I could read it again for the first time.
Ummmm….this is an amazing start to a trilogy! Beth & Cater made me fall in love with them! They’re so heartbreakingly sweet together! I will say this book will have you all over the place. There was definitely some jaw dropping & gasping moments! And be prepared! There was a major cliffhanger at the end! Book 2 is needed in my life ASAP!
The chemistry between Beth and Carter is OFF THE CHARTS from moment ONE! I devoured this book, staying up way part my bed time and finishing it when I knew I should be working! It was an obsession! I love how Dylan is building a story that you want to continue on with, you start to see glimpses of change in their through out the book and you can tell Book 2 is going to continue their journey personally as well as showing the story continue to unfold!
Can Book 2 be out already?!!!! I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
Dylan Allen sucked me in quick with a steamy and enchanting beginning. Then all of a sudden we are taken back to tell the story of how a real love story isn’t without it’s trials, heartaches and more pain than one person should have to deal with.
My heart immediately hurt for Elisabeth, for the way she was treated and looked down upon. Actually, it made me so very angry. I always get angry when a parent is the one causing the child so much pain because then….who helps heal that child or take care of them when they need love. Well in this case it was her brother James. I wouldn’t dare spoil a book so I won’t go any further than to say that James was her rock, her protector and who I felt like was the only person who truly loved her for who she was…until she met Carter. Now Carter, whew! What a hottie! That’s obviously not the important thing though! So…Carter saw what she showed everyone else; the picture perfect her that her father wanted her to be…the only her that the community accepted. However; when she removed the mask…it wasn’t that picture perfect person that Carter wanted. He was attracted to Beth’s true self. So many things factor into what happened after they found each other…the biggest was her Father! This is where the heartache comes into play and where I’ll let you read the book for yourself.
A little sidenote…this is part of a trilogy, there are two more after this one. Don’t let that stop you though. I love the anticipation of waiting for the next book and the wait for these are only a few weeks! Can’t wait to see where Dylan Allen takes the story of Elisabeth next!
Okay, so um. Can I PLEASE HAVE BOOK TWO NOW? God damn, I was not expecting that ending!
Jesus Christ,…My heart. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this. I knew it would be an emotional rollercoaster. That is a given when it comes to any of Dylan Allen’s books, but in no way was I prepared for what I got in this book. It grabbed hold of my heart and pulled those strings so tight I thought they’d snap at one point.
Now to try and review. This is one of the hardest things for me when I enjoy a book as much as I enjoyed this one. It’s finding the right words and trying not to give anything away, so I can give the book justice.
Elizabeth is sweet, she’s innocent, she’s strong, she’s young and still learning about life and doing that with a family that would drive someone insane… They are overbearing, judgemental, and is made to feel ashamed constantly. She lives with something that sets her apart from the rest, and what I think makes her beautiful, that she carries it with shame, a burden.
Carter is struggling in life, he’s broken in a sense but he has everything that he could possibly want, and more. He’s just made it big as a famous pianist, but with fame, it’s not all perfect as others would think. He’s gotten some negative attention from the media and after his family hit him with some hard truths, he goes on vacation, which is where by some miracle he meets Beth, and from the get-go, something is drawing these to together, and intense chemistry between both is almost instant.
This starts off with a flashback to how these two meet, and once the book progresses, so does the plot and the characters… and while I wish I could sit here and tell you each and every detail to this story. I won’t. This needs to be experienced not told to a reader through a review, what I will say is Dylan Allen brought her A-game with the start of this trilogy. The angst level in this is enough to drive me crazy, chemistry, the pull of these two, it’s overwhelming and beautiful all in one. I couldn’t get enough and I am in desperate need of book 2… Is it November yet? Gah
the authors writing style is perfect, it was the perfect paced book with all the feels, and then some! it was absolutely flawless.
5 Stars!
Holy hit you with the feels Batman! This is the first book by Dylan Allen that I have read and honestly, I do not know why I waited so long! This story was really raw and beautiful but also heartbreaking and earth shattering! We have Beth who just wants to fit in. Then we have Carter who just wants to live his life but on his own terms. But these two together? It is pure magic. Their stolen moments and their connection is just stunning. But as things play out, your heart shatters with everything these two go through on their own.
Honestly, it is hard to write this review because I just want to scream from the rooftops about this whole story and what happened to these two. Allen writes a story that will suck you in and leave you begging for more. And you have to know that this is a trilogy, so the ending… Oh man. My heart. What I really loved about this book aside from the concept, is the fluidity of the words. They just melt off the page and you devour this story. The characters are so raw and in so much pain for various reasons but find solace in each other. I am so looking forward to the second book!
After listening to the Short story of this book on a romance podcast this book was highly anticipated by me.
So let’s start with style of writing of Dylan wich definitely improved since the last book i read by her.
The love story in this romance book developed in the right speed. Because I was able to feel how thier feelings for each other grow.
This book is must read and go to a lot while reading with the hero and heroine. We see them both grow and deal their lives.
I’ve to say that the words wicht to authors choose had been amazing to describe all the situations in the story. There had been a lot of angst and feelings wich i had the chance to get how they acted.
Loved seeing how different lives can go even if to poeple have fellings for each other.
With her prologue Dylan showed again that she has a talent for storybuilding.
In so many moments i wanted hug the characters but there had been moments where want shake them also.
I don’t want to put this book down to go to sleep
Our hero is a talented young man. He searches for important things in his life. He doesn’t take a risk if a person in his heart. He has good humor and is a strong character.
Beth still needs to find out how she can be the person who she wants to be. The young women always tries to please herself while trie to live the truth.
All in all i was caught by this story from page one. I totally felt all the angst and there was a lot of hot romance novel. There were many surprising pltotiwst. Combined with an amazing story and grate character this book was perfect. its highly recommended so five of stars from me.
What an amazing beginning to Carter and Beth’s love story. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this emotional, angsty, heart wrenching, beautiful story. The push and pull kept my poor heart on overdrive. Dylan Allen knows how weave a beautiful tale and this story was simply amazing. Can’t wait for more of this beautiful story to unfold.
Incredible, unputdownable, gripping, and so epic! Between Now and Forever, book one in the Forever Trilogy by Dylan Allen, blew me away, and completely took me by surprise! This book is unlike any other Dylan Allen book you’ve read, however maintains the same emotion level, and well developed story you expect from this author. From the very first pages, I felt myself being completely captivated by this compelling read. It’s well written, well developed, and pull-on-your-heart-strings-good!
You can’t help but totally buy into these characters! Their mutual brokenness and desire to fit into a world they don’t belong in, makes for an emotional and angst-filled journey. This story will break your heart, send you swooning, and have you reading without ending.
Readers that enjoy emotional and angst-filled reads will absolutely enjoy Between Now and Forever! Get ready for a compelling and captivating read, sure to give you a book hangover you’ll not soon forget! 5 stars, hands down.
Between Now and Forever is an emotional romance that had me sitting on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I devoured this book in one sitting and couldn’t read it fast enough. Dylan Allen has some serious super powers when it comes to weaving story that sucks me in and keeps me up until 2 am even when I know I have to get up early and adult the next morning. I am going to need a vacation at the end of this week to catch up on all the sleep I’m going to be missing reading this trilogy because I am already counting down the hours until I can start reading books 2 and 3.
“The Forever Trilogy is complete!” “This is where this angsty, epic, unforgettable story starts!”
The character go through so much in this trilogy, but they beat the odds and in the end, love wins!
The Forever Trilogy is complete! This is where this angsty, epic, unforgettable story starts!
She is bringing her A game…. and by that I mean ANGST! Dylan Allen was breaking my heart all through this book! From the very beginning when you hear about how Elisabeth hides herself because of how people treat her right up until the end when……. the cliffhanging bomb drops! (you thought I was going spoil it didn’t ya) Carter is such a sensitive soul trapped in this shell that puts off so much animosity! And Beth is such a fighter…. fighting this overbearing father that she has so that she can keep true to herself. This book left me with a few things to ponder…. and now I will spend the next month going over the whole story in my head while I wait for the next part!!!
I love everything Dylan Allen writes. She has so much scope while still maintaining her own beautiful voice as an author. Carter is my new book boyfriend and I’m not sharing!
Between Now and Forever is the first book in this trilogy and my first ever read from another new to me author. I’ve said it before, it’s always an amazing feeling whenever I meet new authors and consequently fall in love with their stories. Ms. Allen definitely had me with this all-the-feels, angst galore brand new book!
It followed Elisabeth & Carter’s love story and right from the get go, you will feel already that this one will grip and most probably, wrench your heart. Mine did. I felt Elisabeth’s struggles and self doubts right down to my soul, but what I loved the most is how she tried to conquer it. I loved the connection and chemistry between the characters that sizzled between the pages of this book. With the way this book ends, I’m impatiently awaiting for next one to come and could not wait to know how the story will unfold.
Between Now and Forever is the first part of a three-part trilogy that follows the lives of Liz and Carter as they recount their meeting and falling in love for their daughter. Liz is from a wealthy family but she doesn’t fit in. Not only does she have a facial port-wine stain that she sees as a major impediment to her life in general but also her love life, her family is very dismissive of her with only her brother as an ally. Carter is the family black sheep amongst stars. He screwed up, is paying for it, and is not sure how to rise above it. When the two meet, they find in each other salvation that didn’t exist elsewhere.
I have hesitated to write this review because I wasn’t sure how to word it. I am not one for angst reads, I flee from them like my hair is on fire. I also have an issue with reads where I want to strangle and hug the characters at the same time. Between Now and Forever has both of these… in abundance. Dylan Allen has taken relatable characters, ones with the doubts and fears that we all share as we make our way into adulthood and put them in the extraordinary situations of the rich and powerful. Situations that are as harrowing and over-the-top as the elite seem to revolve within. There are power players for whom the rules don’t apply, evil side characters for whom there are no consequences, and a world that the rest of us can only glimpse. Nestled in this swirling universe is Liz and Carter, two people who clutch at each other as the river of their lives drag them apart.
Ms. Allen has swung for the fences with bold and vivid descriptions, heartrending deeply emotional situations that put her characters through the wringer and back again. As this is only the first of three, there is more to come for Liz and Carter with their happily ever after pending for now. For lovers of roller coaster romance stories, this is absolutely the one for you.
