“You think you know me. You think you want to know me. But trust me, Miss Lang. Pursuing me will be the worst mistake you ever make. I’m broken beyond repair… scraping enough cash together to pay the bills has proven almost impossible. Her parents are on the brink of losing their home. The vultures are circling overhead. So when Ophelia is offered an interview for a well-paid private tutoring gig in New York, how can she possibly say no?
Ronan Fletcher is far from the overweight, balding businessman Ophelia expected him to be. He’s young, handsome, and wealthy beyond all reason. He’s also perhaps the coldest, rudest person she’s ever met, and has a mean streak in him a mile and a half wide. A hundred grand is a lot of money, however, and if tolerating his frosty temperament, his erratic mood swings and whatever else he throws at her means she’ll get paid, then that is what Ophelia will do.
Her new boss is keeping secrets, though. Awful, terrible secrets.
The ghosts of Ronan Fletcher’s past are about to turn Ophelia’s future upside down, and she can’t even see it coming.

This was an emotional book. Ophelia is put into a situation which she feels she has to do the right thing. There is love, lose, finding yourself, as well as a sense of home. This book has all the feels, an interesting storyline that you want to see to the end.
When I started reading this book I didn’t know what to expect. But almost immediately I was pulled in so deep I didn’t want to stop. This entire story was so expertly pieced together and so perfectly formed. Its almost as if this was a real life moment. I felt the emotions in this book, I laughed out loud at the banter between Opheila and Sully. These to complete opposites complete each other in a way that I’m not sure I have ever felt in any other book. The tragic story of the kids and how Ronan chose Opheila to be their caretaker and the twist in Sully and Ronans brotherhood I mean I honestly didn’t see it coming. Maybe I should have. But Callie expertly wrote in a way to make it not such an obvious storyline.
Callie Hart will always be one of my top authors, I will read anything she puts out cause I know I will love it. This read was absolutely no different, it keeps you gripped to the pages, and wanting to turn faster than you can read. When you think you know what will happen, that all changes and you are so wrong. Amazing read by an amazing author!
Ok I am kicking yself for not reading this sooner!!!
I am in complete shock and awe over this book. All of this authors books blow me away but this was in a league of it’s own and I never saw any of it coming.
I’ve tried to explain what I personally would of loved more of, but any way I say it is a spoiler, and thik the author did it purposefully, dropping bombshells and moving on like it was nothing.
This book will take your breath away in many different ways and it’s definitely a must read.
“Keep the children calm.
Keep the children safe.”
This story is not what I expected and then I remembered the author and felt silly as this is a classic twist from Callie Hart! I expected a nanny/billionaire romance instead I was blown away, tears streaming and gutting churning by chapter 7! This story had me on the edge of my seat, I wasn’t sure what she would decide to do and the circumstances are so dire that I really couldn’t call it. This is a journey into how life experiences can change you and not always for the better. How people in your life can be instrumental in who you become and how you behave. How relationships are fragile and ever changing, blowing away in the winds of change. This is not a happy story. There is loss and wrong doing. Ultimate sacrifice and heart wrenching pain. Yet there is hope and strength woven into the pages. Is redemption found? Is it even sought? I’m not sure. But what I do know is that I loved every word and was pleasantly surprised by the plot twists and turns. This a still a dark read just in a subtle way that makes you think. I loved it!
This book had me caught in a web which twisted itself around me and spun me where it wanted. It takes paths which are unexpected, leading you to heart stopping moments of drama and shock. It is a wonderfully intense, beautifully told, plot and character rich book, with deeply contrasting physical environments which compliment the vastly different moods which infuse the book. Nature is both nurturing and threatening, reflecting the turmoil of life. There is love, loss, sacrifice, kindness, humour, healing and secrets.
In Ophelia we have such a strong, kind, intelligent and courageous woman, Rose sweet and kind, Ronan full of steely determination and the wildfire of the beautiful soul that is Sully.
This is a book which will be difficult to put down and is unforgettable. Superb!
5 beautifully stormy stars
Ophelia is a 28 years old divorced teacher, she has just lost her job and her parents financial safety is solely on her shoulder. She feels the need to help them and decide to take on a babysitting job in order to do that. Off she goes to New York for her new adventure, nothing could have prepared her for what she found. Starting from her new employer who is far from the fat balding business man she was expecting. Ophelia embarks on this mission totally unprepared. This story is about new beginnings, taking the plunge even when you’re afraid, it’s about trusting your other half to catch you when you fall and it deserves to be read.
A riveting tale, full of mystery, twists and turns I didn’t see coming. The best advice is to go into this blind, don’t focus too much on the blurb, let the flow lead you. Callie’s narrative skills captured me from the first line, I was so caught up in the story time flew by while I was lulled by the beautiful lyrical writing, flooded with emotions left a right. I was overwhelmed by a storm of feels, wave after wave the tide brought me back to shore with a bursting heart.
The characters are masterfully depicted, their growth and development take the reader on a rollercoaster of sensations. Ms Hart’s ability to conjure up a rough alpha domineering handsome hero shines and overflows from these pages.
A nuclear bomb would have to detonate inside my chest cavity to stir the faintest of responses from the lump of flesh that pumps my blood around my body
There were moments, while I was reading, where I thought some loose ends wouldn’t be tied up but I trusted the author, and indeed in the end it all made sense, every single detail was taken care of.
A contemporary romance that will take you on a beautiful journey, warming your heart, a soulful tale which will stay with you long after the word The End
He was a man possessed. I was a woman lost. Together, we were two halves of something fragile and delicate, beautiful in its complexity
Intriguing and enthralling from start to finish with every captivating word, sentence and chapter. The mystery, the twists and the turns had me addicted!
Ophelia takes a job as a tutor and nanny to the two young children of a widower. Six months on an island off the coast of Maine should’ve been easy, but the events that unfolded ensured it was anything but that. Enemies to lovers, slow burn to steamy, and oh so much more!
I’m not going to say much about this story other than it’s an absolute must read that will have you asking “what the hell did I just read?” and then recommending it to everyone you know!
This was one crazy ride with an epic feel good ending that made every rise and fall so worthwhile.
Wow. Wowwowwow. I am just blown away by this story. I was expecting one thing but was thrown completely off track near the 30% mark. I was NOT expecting that twist…at all.
This is an emotional, suspenseful (kind of), gripping tale of a woman with a heart too big and a man weighed down by secrets of his past. Nothing is as it seems and between the letters and the flashbacks, the truth is delicately and masterfully unveiled layer by layer.
I was so absorbed in this story. I adored the FMC because she was real. 28, obligated to help her parents, thrust into a situation a lesser woman would’ve walked away from. She was compassionate and caring and stubborn and genuinely good. And our MMC? What a prick! His attitude, his actions made me SO frustrated! But our FMC never gave up, she kept pushing and the man that came out the other side? SWOON-WORTHY and sexy AF, y’all.
Gosh, it’s so hard to rave about this book when I can’t give anything away. Seriously, read it. If only so you can send me a msg so we can gush about this intense story together.
Sully and Ophelia:)
When I started reading this book I have to say it was not what I thought it would be at all. But the more I read the more intrigued I was with what happened and how it all tied together which Callie Hart has done beautifully! I would definitely recommend this book, a bit dark initially but turns out to be a HEA and a great love story after all:)

Just when Ophelia Lang thought her life couldn’t get worse, it somehow did. She had just recently went through a divorce where her husband broke her heart and tried to rob her blind. Due to the failing economy, she had lost her job as a teacher. Now her parents’ restaurant is going under and she can’t just sit by and watch it close. At least she had been smart enough to put back 15 percent of her paycheck, but her funds are drying up. She’s desperate.
Now, she’s found herself on a plane flying from California to New York for a job interview. Enter Ronan Fletcher. A business tycoon that would be an attractive man if it wasn’t for his sour attitude. He needs a live-in nanny for his two children. That would require Ophelia to move from sunny SoCal to a tiny island off the coast of Maine. Her parents would be devastated, but it was only for six months. The money she would earn at the end of those six months would solve a lot of their financial troubles.
Who would have thought the first 24 hours on this island would change her life forever? I sure the hell didn’t!! Callie Hart, you are brilliantly twisted! Ophelia finds herself in a even bigger dilemma and is extremely torn. But she has to stick it out for the children – and for Ronan. She now has six months to mend this broken family. She will get through to him. She has no choice.
GUYS, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK! I am so upset that I cannot talk about my favorite part of this book – because of spoilers. I am not cruel! But trust me when I say that this book is AMAZING. There are twists and turns around every page and it will grab hold of you. From the first couple of chapters, you will learn to expect the unexpected. Callie Hart blew me away with her writing.
The narrator of the audiobook was WONDERFUL! Julia Farmer is a master of accents and storytelling. I highly recommend you opt for the audio.
5 stars!

“I haven’t been bored for a single second in your company, Lang. From day one, you’ve intrigued me.”
Between Here and the Horizon is the first book I read by Callie Hart. I did not know what to expect but I was excited to find out. The author kept me intrigued and interested throughout the whole book. After the first couple of chapters I was expecting things to go a certain way but then BOOM something happened that shocked me so much. I 100% did not see that coming, what a crazy plot twist it was. I love it when authors are able to surprise and have me wanting more.
“I’ll admit I’m not the man I used to be. But you make feel like I might be able to find that man again.”
Ophelia Lang needs money and takes a job as caretaker/nanny/tutor. I love these type of stories a lot and I just knew I was going to enjoy this one as well. I wasn’t wrong! Ophelia was very likable and mature, I loved that the characters were in the their late 20s/early 30s. She was protective, sweet and loyal. She was so great with the children, I really loved those scenes. As for the other character, he was pretty mean, rude and needed some attitude adjustments. He wasn’t really likable at the beginning, but I slowly started to understand where he was coming from. Just like Ophelia I couldn’t help but care for him.
This story has some sad parts that had me crying. I loved that we had a couple of short flashbacks to understand what was going on. For me however the ending was rushed. Before I knew it everything fell perfectly in place and I was reading the epilogue. I was missing some last bit of development in the relationship. Also I wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet, I think a chapter or two would’ve worked better for me. But overall a very solid romance story, with great writing from the author. I enjoyed the plot a lot and found it to be refreshing. This will definitely NOT be the last book I’ll read by the author.
I was drawn to this book because I have a deep love for Beauty and the Beast story lines, and Between Here and the Horizon seemed to fit the bill. The story surprised me very early on, but all it did was draw me further in. Ophelia had great character development and I loved the interactions between her and her Hero. Callie Hart wrote a complex and emotional story and the only question I have is what more of hers can I read.
Not the usual read from Callie Hart but this book really was an amazing read, yet again. I couldn’t put it down and just needed to know what happened next in the story. and when that happens, you know this is definitely a must read story. It makes you think about everything in life… It’s also an unexpected story that makes you wonder what will happen next!
Ophelia is without a job and needs money to help her parents not lose their restaurant. She gets offered a job as a nanny/babysitter that will pay her good money. After events take place, she will have to decide what she’ll do next… She meets Sully and that complicates everything even more. In the end, both will have to decide what the future will hold…
Sometimes you just don’t know where life will take you and you have to take that leap of faith, no matter how hard life gets.
