If you were wondering what some of the other LOKI men were up to during Rock and Hope’s wedding…this is your chance to find out.
Between Embers (Lost Kings MC 5.5) is a collection of three short stories, approximately 25,000 words. This is intended to be a companion piece to White Heat (Lost Kings MC #5). If you do not enjoy reading similar scenes from a different character’s point of view, then … character’s point of view, then please skip this.
However, if you were curious about what Teller was doing the morning of the wedding. What Murphy and Heidi talked about when she arrived at the clubhouse, or how Z and Lilly spent the night, I think you’ll enjoy Between Embers.
At the end, you’ll find an exclusive excerpt from More Than Miles (Lost Kings MC #6) which will be available on August 16, 2016.

Loved reading the entire series… So much that I couldn’t put them down till I finished the last book. If you like MC books, this series is a must
Love the different points of view and things that happened we didn’t get to read about. Love these catch up books
This is a collection of short stories that feature some of the characters from the Lost Kings stories. This is a great “check-in” for fans of the series!
WOW, THIS WAS SO GOOD. I LOVE THE INSIGHT TO WHAT EACH MEMBER WAS DOING DURING THE WEDDING.
WE GET TO SEE MORE OF TELLER, AND THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO TELLER, HE IS DEEP AND HAS THE HEART I LOVE. I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHERE THINGS GO WITH HIM AND MARIELLA.
MURPHY…..OH MURPHY AND HEIDI. THERE IS SO MUCH LONGING AND GROWING FEELINGS BETWEEN THESE TWO. AND SOME VERY SWEET MOMENTS, I DONT WANT TO RUIN IN MY REVIEW, BUT MURPHY MELTED ME, AND AXEL CRACKED ME UP WITH HIS RESPONSE TO ONE OF THE MOMENTS.
Z AND LILLY…..OH MY….THESE TWO ARE OFF THE CHARTS. THE CHEMISTRY THESE TWO HAVE WITH EACH OTHER IS UNBELIEVABLY HOT AND SEXY. I THINK Z IS FINALLY AT THE POINT WHERE HES READY FOR SOMETHING MORE OF WHAT ROCK AND HOPE HAS…..HE JUST NEEDS TO CONVINCE LILLY SHES THE GIRL FOR HIM TO DO IT WITH.
THESE SHORT STORIES ARE SO GOOD AND LEFT ME NEEDING MORE AND I CANT WAIT FOR ALL OF EACH OF MEMBERS BOOK. THE GUYS LOVE FOR EACH OTHER AND BANTER WITH ONE ANOTHER ALWAYS CRACKS ME UP, I LOVE THIS SERIES.
OH AND WE NEED MORE DEX!!!!
Loved this novella! It was very interesting to see what else was happening while Rock and Hope we’re getting married! I love these little novellas! They are such a treat!
A Wonderfully Heartfelt Literary Side Trip… “Between Embers” is the second novella featuring three short stories from the Lost Kings MC (LOKI) world (hence the 5.5 series volume designation). It is another wonderful literary side trip by author Autumn Jones Lake that further explores the stories of Teller, Murphy, and Zero.
Here, using the snapshot in time of Rock and Hope’s wedding day, Lake focuses on the budding yet turbulent relationships between, Teller and Mariella, Murphy and Heidi, and Zero and Lilly. And as with her first novella “Three Kings, One Night” that utilized Christmas, here she uses the activities, feelings, and unusual, cross-club, circumstances surrounding the wedding as a backdrop to showcase brief snapshots of LOKI officer’s, Teller, Murphy, and Zeros lives both in and outside the club. She also brilliantly uses the wedding as a catalyst to show how Hope and Rock’s relationship in general has affected each of these men, made them reflective of their individual lives and circumstances, and made them begin to think differently about the overall courses of their lives, especially where women are concerned.
It was surprisingly contemplative and angsty. And definitely gives you a more human view of the men underneath the patches.
Is it necessary reading for the series as a whole, no, not really. You can skip this one and move directly on to “More Than Miles” if you so desire, but don’t. Really, I mean it, don’t skip it. I promise you the insights offered within are valuable and so worth the hour-ish it will take you to read it!
I personally love these tiny side adventures, they are a bit more humorous and playful than the full length stories within the series. And although, Teller’s story didn’t really capture my attention, and wasn’t nearly as dynamic as the other two. “Between Embers” is still another wonderful example of how Lake meticulously builds the LOKI world and takes the time to build all the characters within brick by beautiful brick.
This is to be read after White heat (#5)
it is about what some of the guys were up to during Hope and Rock’s wedding
I LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E!!!!! ALL of the LOKI books. Autumn has a way of really making you feel like you know these characters. (And her since apparently I’m on a first name basis) I love that these guys are tough but have such big hearts. A great series to escape to!
I would recommend to read White Heat before reading Between Embers.
These three short stories of Teller, Murphy and Z were great. I loved White Heat so it was fun to see what the other members of LOKI were during during Rock and Hope’s wedding. I’m definitely interested in all of them and they each have something that appeals to me. Not only were the POV’s of the three men but also of Heidi, Mariella and Lilly. Even though it was short it was very entertaining and made me remember why I love The Lost Kings MC.
All this only made me more excited to read More Than Miles.
Once again, so glad I went back to read these novellas because I would’ve missed out on some juicy details!
Murphy & Heidi… Why’d he have to go & screw up even more with Heidi? Dude, it would’ve been totally acceptable to un-invite Serena to the wedding via text. Why the heck would you invite her anyways?! *smh* Oh, well… at least I know the outcome of all this angst already. #LightAtTheEndOfTheTunnel
Hands down, the best damn part of this novella was Z & Lilly. Love the way they were around each other, the chemistry they shared, the way they seemed to be growing even closer… Please, please, PLEASE let this mean there is a book in the works for them! I’m so ready for their happily ever after!!
Looking forward to more books in the Lost Kings MC series. Love seeing these MC guys brought down to their knees! 🙂
Again another quick set of short stories in between the main books but it gives you more information into some of the other characters.
I loved this story from start to finish, Not my first time reading this authors work and it wont be my last time either. The way she got 3 couples together to tell a small part of their story just blew my mind not only that but from reading this I’m hoping for more from Teller, Z and Sparky he would be a great one to get to know. The writing is much the same as the others, laugh out loud fun, emotions high. The characters are all amazing and really great to know. This is a MUST READ from start to finish hell it only took me 1 complete day to read this cover to cover and I loved it. I wanted more and more by the end. Each story was a 2 person POV and they each told it with emotions and real feelings nothing they said could really effect them and they wanted their story told no matter what. IT was written with a reader in mind. Deff answered some questions that I had and with that have come more that hopefully one day will be answered as for now It’s a great novella and I hope more will come from it.
***I received this story for free in exchange for an honest review***
First off if you haven’t read White Heat go read it before you read Between Embers, actually if you want to read the best MC romances EVER go read the whole series, starting with Slow Burn, they all ROCK!!! As far as this short taste of the LOKI men and their women, it’s a look behind the scenes of Rock and Hope’s wedding and it really made me want to delve into Z and Lily’s story even more!! I loved the snippets I’ve read about them before, now Z is on my radar and new on my list of BBFs (after Rock of course). I’m always eager to read about the Lost Kings but this just made me even more excited to read More Than Miles (Murphy’s story) which I will be reading as soon as possible!! So make sure if you have read and loved White Heat (who wouldn’t?!!) you read this too!! It’s like being a fly-on-the-wall in three different places at once, it’s fantastic!!!
Always told to stay away from bikers they are bad. But these bad boys just keep calling and the rumble of their rides are like a heart beat that keeps me alive. I am glad I didn’t stop at the first book look what I would have missed.
