I’ve got a problem. A big muscly problem, with icy blue eyes, long dark hair, and tight leather pants.
Keryth is the Night Realm king. My father’s greatest enemy. And my fated mate.
It isn’t easy being a fae princess of the Day Realm. Our kingdom has suffered hardships, but if my father won’t approve of the mating bond with Keryth, they’ll be putting another body in a casket—mine. If we’re kept … casket—mine. If we’re kept apart, we’ll both die. Not to be dramatic or anything. Destiny just doesn’t like to be denied, and our sanity will wither away if we don’t give in.
Too bad my father doesn’t care about that. His solution is to lock me away forever.
When Keryth comes to rescue me, I know we can take on anything as long as we’re together. But old rivalries die hard, and the past sins of our families come back to haunt us, affecting our future and the ones we love the most.
This novella is a prequel for the Between Dawn and Dusk series. Although Zella and Keryth get their happily ever after, this story ends on a cliffhanger for another character. The next book, The Fae King’s Curse, will release on April 17th.

So excited to read this prequel, Between Dawn and Dusk, by Jamie Schlosser.
This is my first time reading Jamie and I was certainly pleased with her story of Zella and Keryth.
I am always intrigued when an author tackles the story of fae beings, and was not disappointed in Jamie’s creative and unique take on two fae who are mates, yet must find a way to be together.
What I am truly thankful for is that Book 1, as this was a prequel to provide the background story, will be available later this month. That is minimal wait time to see the next level of this series!
I’ve wanted to read this book from the moment I saw the cover. It’s so beautiful, isn’t it? Love the colours. I’ve been reading more of fantasy romance lately. Really love this genre.
I was happy to discover that the book inside the cover is just as appealing. The writing is light and easy to read, and the story is imaginative and compelling. I loved the author’s take on fated mates. The world she created drew me in, I didn’t want to leave it when the story ended.
Between Dawn and Dusk is a prequel, a love story of a king and a princess from rival kingdoms. It introduces their son, the prince and the main character of the next book, which promises to be even more exciting. Can’t wait!
This was the first book I read by Jamie Schlosser, but it won’t be the last.
3.5 Stars
This is a prequel to the series and though a novella it’s actually quite a decent length it also sets up things up brilliantly for the upcoming series.
It certainly entices and draws you in and I’m very much on board now to read more set in this fascinating world.
This is a fantasy romance set in the fae realm and it involves fated mates princes Zella of the day realm and king of the night realm Keryth their kingdoms are enemies because of past strife and relations are tenuous.
Zella and Keryth have known for a while of there fated-bond having met to negotiate trade deals between there realms they felt it instantly but they have waited to solidify their union due to Zella’s young age.
Now she’s all grown up and ready but her father is adamantly opposed to the match believing the night realm is the cause of the plague affecting his land which also killed his mate.
The plague he believes is retaliation for Keryth’s parent’s assassination which he also denies having a hand in.
Being fated nothing is going to keep these two apart and they will do what’s necessary to be together even if it could potentially cause a war between there two kingdoms.
So this was dual POV and well written and sets the stage really well for book one in the series as I said earlier this is actually a prequel and the next one actually focuses on the son of Keryth and Zella.
There’s plenty of action here and though this is not angsty as our two already have an established connection and are in love there’s still lots going on I definitely wasn’t bored.
I am looking forward to continuing this series further and if this was meant to hook me into the series as a whole it most certainly accomplished its goal.
I can’t wait to learn more and that finale was ever so intriguing.
If you like warm fantasy romance set in the fae realm this one would definitely be a fit for you.

This was an action packed and intense novella outlining a world that I know is going to capture my heart and my imagination in the coming books!
We have star-crossed lovers and the obstacles they must overcome to find their true happiness in whatever shape it might come, and I adored every single minute of it!
If you’re looking for a delicious fantasy world to get stuck into, look no further!
I cannot wait for the next and first in the series!
This prequel to the Fae King series covers Kyreth, King of the Night Realm, and Zella, Princess of the Day Realm. It is written in first person from a dual POV.
Kyreth is a hot Fae King who goes after his fated mate, despite the obstacles. This book perfectly sets up the series by explaining the realms, the politics that influence them, and the royal families within them. There is a lot of heat, some medieval type violence, and a romantic subplot. It is a fairy tale, but with more. The end of this book sets the scene for the next book, The Fae King’s Curse, which follows their son Kirian. I loved this and I am hooked on this world and the Fae heroes in it. I am moving straight into the next book.
First book by Jamie Schlosser and I can’t give it enough praises. I haven’t read a great PNR in a long time so I am excited to find another great author. The realms that were created were amazing along with the chemistry between Keryth and Zella and then all the mystery with the the wizards and witches and curses. This book will capture you from the beginning. I hated to see the book end but so excited to read the next book in the series, The Fae King’s Curse’, that I 1-Clicked and it’s ready on my kindle. Great Book, Fantastic Author so grab this book now and start a new series that you will want to devour.
This prequel sets the stage for next story. Zella and Keryth are fated but family politics and drama are trying to keep them apart. The imagery of this worlds is stunning. This story has a richness to it that I loved. Fae royalty is my “jam” right now. Add in an epic love story and I am a faithful follower.
This is my first book by Jamie Schlosser and now I can’t wait top read the next book in the series! We follow Zella, who is princess of the Day Realm. Recently turned 21, she’s excited because the time has finally come to marry her fated one, Keryth, king of the Night Realm. But, things just aren’t that simple. The longstanding rivalry between the two realms poses a bigger threat to her HEA than she originally thought. However, watching them navigate these issues and continue to grow closer is a wonderful thing to behold. I highly recommend this novella if you enjoy PNR.
I really enjoyed Schlosser’s departure into fantasy. Between Dawn and Dusk is a prequel novella to The Fae King’s Curse. This had all the things I love in a fantasy story: fated mates, suspense, action, and lots of passion! I liked how the world was set up, different realms based on the sun and the moon. We have the Night realm, the Day realm, and the in between realm of Dawn and Dusk. That gave each kingdom a unique feel and I loved the description of each. This story centers around Zella and Keryth, fated mates from different realms that must stop at nothing to be together. Of course they are from rival realms, and mayhem ensues in their pursuit to be together. While this story does in in a cliffhanger, Zella and Keryth get their HEA. Without giving you any spoilers the cliffhanger is for a different character and sets up the next book, The Fae King’s Curse, beautifully.
First time reading this author, and I gotta say this
book was really fun to read.
The world building and all the characters, just wow.
It was pretty intense, I really enjoyed it.
The chemistry and the bond between Zella and Keryth
was out of this world.
Can’t wait to read the next book, “The Fae King’s Curse” .
great but continues to next book
I made room in my queue to fit this and The Fae King’s Curse in. I’m so glad I did. This is a prequel to The Far King’s Curse and it introduces us to this world. It’s amazing. In this prequel we learn so much about the lands and rulers of these lands. This story sets us up to understand the history and to learn about one king and his love for a princess. This is such a great prequel. And had me jumping right in The Fae King’s Curse. Absolutely a 5 star read!
Thoroughly enchanting!
I was completely enthralled from the first chapter! This little prequel does a beautiful job of setting the stage and giving back story without getting mired down in details, I loved it!
Between Dawn and Dusk was my first Jamie Schlosser book. Although, I was surprised to see this was her first paranormal book. Honestly, I never thought for one second she hadn’t written in this genre before. Not only was there great world-building, characters you love, and amazing editing — but the overall story was phenomenal. Great job, Jamie! I can’t wait to read the Fae King’s Curse. 🙂
I always thought I didn’t like fantasy type books so either I am a closet fantasy reader or Jamie did an amazing job! I am going to go with the latter…WOW!! Between Dawn and Dusk was hot and sexy!!
Zella was the princess of the Day Realm and fated to Keryth, the King of the Night Realm. The only problem, her dad has locked her away because he doesn’t approve of the match.
When Keryth comes to rescue her will being together do more harm them good?
What a sexy read!! Honestly, I was hesitant to read this because I love Jamie and I didn’t want to not like it. I should have never doubted her!! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
In a far off world, fated mates are vital to survival, and if a pair is separated, they’ll slowly go mad until both are dead. Zella, the princess of the Day Realm, fears this may happen to her, as while she’s already met her fated mate, her father has sworn him to be their enemy. He wants Zella to marry someone in their kingdom, but she refuses to accept anything less than true love with the man she’s adored for years.
King Keryth of the Night Realm has been waiting for Zella for ages. He knew it was a fated match when he first saw her, and has been patient for the king of the Day Realm to allow them to marry. But when a wedding is planned between Zella and a man who certainly isn’t him, Keryth knows the time for waiting is long gone.
The Day Realm is dark with kidnappings and ruled with an iron fist, something Zella can no longer live with. The Night Realm promises peace and a chance at happiness. But first, Zella and Keryth will have to survive the wedding.
I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the second, The Fae King’s Curse. But I do feel like I was missing a lot of delicious details that would have made the book all the better. I wish I could have seen the couple meet, read more about the mysterious illness that killed the women, really get a sense of the world they live in before being thrust into the heart of action. The premise is fantastic and the characters have such deep feelings, I just wish there was more!
Overall, this brief and easy read was a cute story that I truly hope will be further delved into in The Fae King’s Curse!
We meet Zella, sister to Zephina. She’s been locked in her room for over a month by her father because her fated mate, Keryth asked her father to approve their mating bond.
King Keryth was ruler of the Night Realm. Valora, where Zella and Zephina live is small and the girls father is afraid that the king will takeover their little realm since he already has plans to take over the Night, Day, Dawn and Dusk realms.
I loved this book so much. I absolutely adored the characters of Zella and Keryth. I can’t wait to hear more about Kirian’s story. I highly recommend it
Utterly FAEbulous! Perfect lead-in to The Fae King’s Curse…excited to read Quinn & Kirian’s tale! Blessed with an early review copy in exchange for my honest and voluntary review…thank you Enticing Journey Book Promotions & Jamie Schlosser!
This was a great prequel. This was the authors first paranormal romance, and she did not disappoint. I can’t wait to read the first book!
I’ve always been a fan of the authors other books, so this was a great change!
** spoiler alert ** I definitely liked how different this start of this series is. I loved how this showed how both characters were willing to do anything to be together and stand by each other. This book definitely hooked me for this series and I cannot wait for the next on to come out!
