I’ve got a problem. A big muscly problem, with icy blue eyes, long dark hair, and tight leather pants.
Keryth is the Night Realm king. My father’s greatest enemy. And my fated mate.
It isn’t easy being a fae princess of the Day Realm. Our kingdom has suffered hardships, but if my father won’t approve of the mating bond with Keryth, they’ll be putting another body in a casket—mine. If we’re kept … casket—mine. If we’re kept apart, we’ll both die. Not to be dramatic or anything. Destiny just doesn’t like to be denied, and our sanity will wither away if we don’t give in.
Too bad my father doesn’t care about that. His solution is to lock me away forever.
When Keryth comes to rescue me, I know we can take on anything as long as we’re together. But old rivalries die hard, and the past sins of our families come back to haunt us, affecting our future and the ones we love the most.
This novella is a prequel for the Between Dawn and Dusk series. Although Zella and Keryth get their happily ever after, this story ends on a cliffhanger for another character. The next book, The Fae King’s Curse, will release on April 17th.

I’m blown away. I’ve been a fan of Jamie’s contemporary romances for a while so I’m willing to read anything of hers. I’ll start by saying I’ve never read any type of fantasy romance by any author. Ever. But holy smokes, I loved this novella. The action drew me in right from the beginning. I felt the connection between Zella and Keryth despite having only very brief backstory. For being a novella, there was a fair amount of action and adventure, along with some sizzling romance, and a fair dose of drama. The characters are so complex, I want to read and learn about them all! This is the perfect set up for The Fae King’s Curse and I can’t wait to read it!
I really liked this fantastic fantasy world that was created in this book! There was a great story there between Keryth and Zella. I fated mate forbidden story that had plenty of twists and turns I did see coming and sexy times. I thought the story had good balance and did a great job setting up the world for future books!
This was a sweet little prequel in Jamie Schlosser’s new fantasy series. Zella is the princess from the Day Realm and her fated mate is Keryth, king of the Night Realm. Zella is being held captive by her father, who is trying to keep the two separated.
What follows is a badass escape with flying fae and magical powers. I loved seeing both Keryth and Zella work so hard to fight for their relationship together. Showed a real connection between the two.
My only criticism is that it felt like we started reading in the middle of the story. I would have loved to have read about Keryth and Zella meeting and watching their relationship grow. But alas, that is the flaw of prequels and novellas.
Definitely whetted my appetite for The Fae King’s Curse.
Oh. My. Goodness. This story packed a PUNCH. I love Zella and Keryth, both together and separate. Their fated storyline had me hooked from the very first chapter. I couldn’t put the book down because there was always something going on at every turn of the page that had me wanting to know what happens next. I loved that this story was unpredictable, magical, romantic, powerful, and action-packed. I can’t wait for the next installment!
Thank you to Jamie for the advanced copy of this book. It was everything I wanted – and more.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Jamie Schlosser is probably one of my all time favorite authors. I have read every single release she has put out and when she said she was starting something new, I was excited. And then I found out it was paranormal. I’m gonna be honest, I had never read paranormal prior to this. And honestly, if if was anyone other than Jamie, I probably would still not have read the genre. But because I love everything Jamie has ever written, I wanted to give this a chance… and I am SO GLAD I DID!
Between Dawn and Dusk is the prequel to the highly awaited book one of her new series – The Fae King’s Curse. And I am here for it. I went in with no idea what I was getting into, and by the end of the first page, I couldn’t escape even if I wanted to. I didn’t even know that I would love paranormal, but I absolutely loved everything about this book. Jamie brought these characters to life and drew me into the story to the point that I wasn’t ready for it to be over… I wasn’t ready to have to wait for The Fae King’s Curse. I wasn’t ready y’all.
Keryth and Zella are amazing. I love them so much and I absolutely love the story that Jamie unfolds for them. Their love is forbidden, but nothing will stop fated mates from being together. I won’t give anything away because this is a new release, but I will say that Jamie knocked it out of the park in a way that had me begging for more when it was all said and done.
From the forbidden love to the happily ever after, you will be drawn into a world of fated mates, power struggles, hidden truths, and more. This book will leave you breathless, bringing you to your knees as Zeryth and Zella find their happily ever after. And when you think there’s nothing left to find… a curse comes upon the family and you’re left on the ground… bleeding out because you weren’t ready for it to end yet.
Five stars for this beautifully written paranormal romance that will knock the breath out of your lungs while filling up your heart with the delicacy of romance. I, for one, can’t wait for The Fae King’s Curse!
I have loved, and I mean LOVED Jamie Schlosser’s contemporary books for years and I’m also obsessed with anything Fae, so when I saw the blurb for this prequel there may have been squeals of joy and happy dancing. Ok, there was no may have, it totally happened. I could not wait to get my grabby little hands on this and OH EM GEEEEEEEEEEE when I did get it I was blown away. So freaking blown away.
Holy. Crapola. I was ready for awesome. I was not ready for all the epicness that hit me with Between Dawn and Dusk! My god. This prequel is a such a jam packed joy ride of magic, adventure and romance. A literal bomb could have gone off beside me and I wouldn’t have even twitched. This has me going from simply excited for the next book to some new, undiscovered level of joy and anticipation that has no title. I’d think of a name for the discovery of this new human emotion I discovered thanks to Jamie Schlosser except all I really care about at the moment is getting my hands on Kirian’s book. We’ll just have to call it being schlossered.
Between Dawn and Dusk: A Prequel is book one in the Between Dawn and Dusk series by Jamie Schlosser. This is Jamie’s first time writing in the paranormal romance world and WOW! What an introduction she has made. I loved this. As much PNR as I have read, I believe this might be my first fae romance book.
Zella is a fae princess of the Day Realm. Her kingdom does not get along with the neighboring Night Realm. Not everyone in either of the Realms is ever lucky enough to find their fated mates. But once they do, they will slowly go mad if they are not able to be together. Zella has met her mate. But fate decided to complicate matters when her chosen mate was the King of the Night Realm.
Keryth is the Night Realm king. He has been waiting for four years for Zella to be old enough to become his mate. But when he asked her father for permission to enter into the mating bond with his daughter, he was refused. He could feel himself slipping further each day that he wasn’t allowed to be with his beloved. So there was only one way to remedy this situation. He would rescue her.
“I’ve lived for a hundred and ninety-seven years, but I wasn’t truly alive until I met her.”
Not only must Keryth and Zella fight against their families to be together, they must face many other obstacles as well. But their love for each other, their bond, makes them stronger.
“I wanted you before I even knew you. I could never be with another. All of me is yours.”
I loved this so much. I love this world Jamie has created and I can’t wait for more. The next book, The Fae King’s Curse, will be Zella and Keryth’s son, Kirian’s story. It will be here in just a little while and I can’t wait to read it.
