What a story! Insta-love! That you know from the minute you see him or her across a room that is the one. Because after all the heart knows what it wants!
Landon’s alpha, sexy personality hides the pain.
Vivienne is caught between a rock and a hard spot.
These two find each other and there is the immediate I want you and you want me.
But . . . and there is always a but!
Carly did a great job of insta-chemistry with these characters. Of giving them each their hurdles, but showing the reader they are better together than apart. She also does a fantastic job of displaying the emotional state of each character. I love that she keeps her supporting cast as fresh as she does the hero and heroine of each book she pens. She is always a winner!
4.5 Stars
This is book 3 in the Sexy series and it features Landon and Vivi. This story is so emotionally charged, sad but beautiful at the same time. Their attraction was immediate. When she realized who he was she tried to cut ties. She just didn’t understand that when Landon Bennet wants something, he’ll do whatever it takes to get it. What happens when he finds out who she REALLY is?
Amazing story line that was over too quick, with fabulous characters! This is such an emotional read. Landon‘s father broke my heart. I can’t wait to see what this author comes out with next!
This is book 3 in this series, and I enjoyed it a lot. This series has been fun, and as “sexy” as the series title promises!
Vivi Zane, formerly Vivienne Clark, is an up-and-coming singer in NYC. She’s been hoping for her big break for a long time, but when it comes, she doesn’t think she can take it. Club TEN29 has offered her a summer residency, performing each weekend, but she doesn’t realize until AFTER she meets one of the owners, and falls in lust with him, that he is the twin brother of the man her older brother killed during a hazing incident back in college. Once she realizes their connection, she tries to turn down the offer, without wanting to bring up their past shared trauma. But, Landon isn’t willing to take no for an answer.
Landon Bennet is a successful club owner, with his 2 best friends and partners. He lost his twin, Levi, back in college, as the result of a terrible fraternity hazing incident gone wrong, and neither he, nor his two best friends, have ever really gotten over it. Lately they’ve been trying to think of ways to increase their club business, especially after the man responsible for Levi’s death, Vic Clark, was released from jail early, and began harassing them and their business recently. Now that he’s back in jail for the foreseeable future, they want everything to go back to normal. When the club offers Vivi Z a residency for the summer, he hopes that he’ll be able to get closer to her, and investigate the strong attraction between them, but she’s keeping a secret that could change everything.
Landon and Vivi had explosive chemistry and a strong connection from their first meeting. But while Landon was all-in on trying to get to know Vivi, she couldn’t see any way Landon would be able to get past her connection to her brother. If she ever figured out a way to tell him about it at all. They really had a lot of serious hurdles to overcome before they could even think about having a real relationship, and it was awesome watching them tackle those as they came up. They both made a lot of mistakes as well, and I liked how they worked to figured things out.
Landon’s friends and their ladies were awesome, as they’ve been throughout the series, and I really enjoyed Vivi’s BFF Ellie as well! I hope she gets a novella some time in the future, as I think she would be an awesome heroine! Landon’s parents were very relatable, and I empathized with Vivi’s mom as well. I really like when the main characters’ families aren’t a total hot mess, though Vivi’s dad and brother obviously weren’t ideal.
I really appreciated the way this couple fought to be together, against all odds. They weren’t willing to let what anyone else thought stop them from being happy, and we could all take a lesson from that! This has been a great series, and I’ve really enjoyed each story. I highly recommend this book, and this whole series!
BETTER THAN SEXY is the third instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult SEXY erotic, romance series, a cross-over with the author’s DARE series. This is nightclub owner Landon Bennett, and singer Vivienne Clark’s story line. BETTER THAN SEXY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for back story and history.
SOME BACKGROUND: Several years earlier Landon Bennett’s twin brother Levi was killed during a hazing incident at college. Together with his best friends Tanner and Jason, Landon opened the nightclub Ten29, in remembrance of the day his brother died.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Landon and Vivienne) BETTER THAN SEXY follows the building relationship between nightclub owner Landon Bennett, and singer Vivienne ‘Vivi Zane’ Clark. Landon, Jason and Tanner had plans for club Ten29, and when an up and coming singer went viral on social media, our trio offered Vivi Zane a summer residency at Ten29 but little did anyone know that Vivi’s connection to Landon’s past was deeper and darker than anyone could have imagined. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Landon and Vivienne, and the potential fall-out when the truth is revealed about Vivi’s relationship to the man that killed Landon’s brother.
Vivienne Clark is an up and coming star but when she is offered a summer residency at club Ten29 our heroine struggles in the face of the truth. Her brother, an unrepentant killer, has shown no mercy in the face of his sins, and her brother’s sins are about to reflect on our story line heroine. Landon Bennett can never forget the day his brother died, and opening club Ten29 in his memory was only the beginning of Landon’s homage to the brother he lost. Hiring Vivi Zane to perform at the club gave Landon a hope for his own happily ever after, but a HEA that will be destroyed by sins of the past.
The relationship between Landon and Vivienne is one of immediate attraction but neither one knows the connection to one another until Vivienne’s brother reveals the truth during an interview about college hazing. Landon, his partners, as well as his parents struggle in the face of Vivienne’s connection to the man that murdered Levi Bennett, but none more so than Vivienne herself who tried desperately to walk away before everything spiralled out of control. The romance between our couple is one of insta-lust but a relationship that is about to quickly implode. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are reintroduced to Landon’s business partners and best friends: Jason Dare, and his girlfriend Faith (Sexy Dare #1), Tanner Grayson and Scarlett Davis ( Twice as Sexy #2). The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Landon’s parents Carrie and Samuel Bennett, Vivienne’s mother Anne Marie Zane, as well as Vivienne’s agent Owen Rhimes, and her personal assistant Ellie Roberts.
BETTER THAN SEXY is a story of forgiveness and loss; heart break and pain; romance and love. The premise is emotional and captivating; the characters are broken, struggling and charismatic; the romance is seductive but struggles in the face of Levi’s death.
***3.5 Stars***
Ok. So. I find myself in a bit of a conundrum over this book.
On the one hand, I truly enjoyed this book.
It was a quick, smexy read that gave me the feels ~ as I expected it to because that little description had me going “Whoa”
But even as it had me going “Whoa” I couldn’t help feeling like I needed…MORE. It wasn’t that they author didn’t acknowledge all the issues or resolve them in a way that worked for me, because she did. It’s just there were certain moments…situations that felt a little too rushed for me and I just needed MORE and it’s been messing with my head for a couple of days. But I know if I don’t get the words out now ~ even jumbled ones ~ I won’t, so here goes nothing.
I really liked Vivi and Landon. Vivi is exactly as her name suggests. She is vivacious, sweet, sassy and genuine. She has an amazing heart and even when she may be down, finds the strength to do what needs to be done. Landon is a good man, with a good heart who will do anything for those he calls his own. But the wounds from his twin’s untimely death haven’t healed and have left him in a kind of limbo when it comes to living his life.
There was no doubt that Vivi and Landon’s journey was going to be all kinds of rough and when you add in a good ‘ole dose of insta from both parties…well, it was all kinds of interesting. While I may have had my issues with how some things were handled by both Vivi and Landon, what I can say is that they flowed well together when they weren’t dealing with the huge elephant in the room and I actually loved how things worked out for them.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been so waffly when it comes to a book by this author, but it happens and despite some of my issues, this was a good read. What has me rounding up here is the fact that everyone gains some kind of closure and are truly looking forward to what the future holds for them all. And though this is the last book of this series, I know we’ll more than likely get glimpses of them in future books and find out where life has taken them.

The feels in this story…it was breaking my heart to be how much they were struggling to over come the pain that was their past. I teared up a few times because I couldn’t stand the way they knew what that had was special but we’re willing to let each other go.
But in true Carly Phillips fashion she made me a believer that even life seems impossible to untangle, love always finds a way to make HEA happen. In case it’s not clear – I absolutely LOVED it.

After two high octane books, the third in this series, “Better Than Sexy” takes a slower, quieter, and more introspective approach. Landon in the last of the three friends to remain single and plans on staying that way- until meeting singer Vivi Z. He hires her to perform at the club, but from the beginning has other plans in mind as well. He’s ready to follow his friends into happy family life until the other shoe drops: Vivi is the sister of the man who killed his twin brother. That isn’t really a spoiler- about two sentences into getting to know Vivi and you figure it out. When she realizes who Landon is she tries to back out of the performances, but he insists. She knows she shouldn’t get involved with him, but she wants him. What’s a girl to do?
I liked the slower, internal conflict in “Better Than Sexy” as things really come full circle for Landon. Do you blame an innocent for something a family member did? or do you see them as an individual? The back and forth kept the plot moving, with not just Landon but his friends and parents having to sort out the issue for themselves. Part of the tension being, could anyone really blame them if they refused to accept Vivi, considering all the memories she’d bring up? However, I could only give this book three stars because, as much as I thought the plot was well done and the book was well written, I never felt the chemistry that was supposed to be between Vivi and Landon. This surprised me, since in the last two books I could practically feel the instant sparks the couples were throwing out. But I never felt it here. Not in the beginning, and really, not throughout the entire book. For me it became more intellectual (I knew they were supposed to have chemistry and be in love) than something that came through in the writing. I’m hoping that was just me, and others see it, because otherwise “Better Than Sexy” was a good way to finish off the Club TEN29 series.

Better Than Sexy is the third book in the Sexy Series. The Owners of Club Ten29 are Jason Dare (More Than Sexy, Book 1), Tanner Grayson (Twice as Sexy, Book 2) and the principle character for Better Than Sexy, Book 3 is Landon Bennett’s story.
Landon’s job at Club Ten 29 is that he arranges the entertainment for the club and he has booked Vivienne Clark, (stage name is Vivi Zane) for a summer residency at the club. Neither of them knew it at first when Landon coaxed Vivi into singing at his club but Vivienne is the sister of Victor Clark the person that killed Landon’s twin, Levi.
There is a lot to overcome for this relationship to get off the ground. Neither of them are unaffected by the tragedy of the death of Landon’s brother’s death.
I loved reading Vivi and Landon’s story. There is an HEA and this book can easily be read as a standalone! But the other books are out and you will get the whole picture if you read the first 2 books and then this one. I give Better Than Sexy 4.5 stars.
I can’t wait to read this authors next new series! Dare to Resist (Dare Nation Book 1) Coming Soon!
Landon wants to bring in a singer for a residency at Club TEN29, for the summer. Jason saw a video if Vivi Z singing, and they got her. She signed the contracts. If you read the first 2 books, you will remember Vic Clark, the man who killed Levi during frat rush in college. He is also the one who created problems in the previous book, about bomb threats and underage serving. He is in prison, he does an interview and calls out the Club and their new singer. He is Vivi’s Brother, but they no longer talk, and she hasn’t lived with him since Levi died. Landon is very upset by Vivi not telling him about her connection to Vic. They talk and Landon is very attracted to her, and decides she is not like her brother.
They start a sexual relationship, spending time together, that usually ends up with them having sex. She continues singing at the Club. She meets his parents but doesn’t exactly explain who she is until later. She is offered her own World Tour, to be done after she completes her studio album. Landon will of course go with her, once they find out a title for him.
Up next, more books in the Dare Series, Dare to Resist, an excerpt is in the back of the book.

5 Star Review of Better Than Sexy (The Sexy Series #3) by Carly Phillips
The third book in the series and this was just as entertaining as the first two books. I love Carly Phillips style of writing, there is something about her stories, that draws me in and keeps me invested from the first to the last chapter.
I have anxiously been waiting for Landon Bennett’s story and it was well worth the wait, even if it is complicated love story. I knew that the woman who would bring him to his knees would need to be special and Vivienne Clark most certainly is.
Landon is part owner of nightclub ClubTen29 along with his best friends Jason and Tanner. I fell hard and fast for Landon, he is totally swoon worthy and ticked the boxes for me.
When Landon offers Vivi the opportunity to perform at their club, he has no idea what he has set in motion. Landon is attracted to Vivi immediately, but when she realizes that they are connected in a way that may well destroy their blossoming relationship before it really gets a chance, she doesn’t know what to do.
The chemistry between Landon and Vivi is scorching and you could almost feel the flames burning as you read. Better Than Sexy is a highly entertaining story and one that got to me on numerous levels.
I loved the camaraderie and friendship with the other club owners, it adds an extra layer to the story that Ms. Phillips wove. It was also satisfying to have everything tied up in this book and I was happy that all the threads were woven together.
This is a passionate and emotional story with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can Landon and Vivi confront the past, make peace with it and forge a new path together? Or will it all come crashing down around them? A beautifully written love story to end the series.
I love how Carly writes! Family, past and present, friends, emotions and vocations all weave together to make Viviane and Landon’s story one you won’t be able to put down.
This story was my favorite of the series. For a man who doesn’t believe in love at first sight, even after seeing his friends fall one by one, he’s immediately drawn to Vivienne when he meets her.
He’s hired her to sing at their Manhattan club for the summer, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. But Viv has a secret that could quickly end any future happiness she could have with Landon. Can they weather the storm and find their happily ever after, or is the truth something that Landon can never move forward from.
Five Wonderful Stars for Landon and Vivienne’s story!
This book 3 in the Sexy Series and I was excited to get Landon’s story and this author did an amazing job with a love story that has one of the hardest hurdles to cross. Can Landon forgive a woman who by no fault of her own is part of the murder of his twin brother all those years ago ……
Landon and his partners need a boost at Club Ten29 and he thinks he has found just what they need in a new singer by the name of Vivi who has taken the internet by storm so he suggests a summer internship that will hopefully not only revive the club but also put Vivi on the road to success….
What he doesn’t know is Vivi’s last name but she knows the club and why it has the name Ten29 so she turns the offer down but Landon is very convincing when he wants something .
Will he regret inviting Vivi into his life ………
The saying we don’t choose our family comes to mind right the start of this journey and even though Vivi hasn’t nothing to do with her brother he is still there destroying more life’s. This story is about true love and opening up your heart to forgive and move on without letting the past destroy your future. Characters with sizzling chemistry and a story that touched me on so many levels made this book the perfect ending to a great series. I loved it and I was left wanting more from the partners of Ten29. Looking forward to where this author will take us next.
Landon Bennet took once look at Vivienne Clark and was struck by lightning. Vivienne can’t believe the offer Club TEN29 offer her but can she take it knowing what her brother did? Can these two figure things out?? I sure hope so because the sparks are off the chart! Wow couldn’t put this book down!!
Another do not miss by Carly Phillips!
Wow! What a way to wrap up a series. Landon, and his friends, watched as his twin, Levi, died from a college hazing. They opened Club TEN29 in his memory and their business is thriving. Landon has watched his friends, Tanner and Jason, fall hard and fast in love but he just doesn’t think he’ll ever do the same instead he chooses to focus on the club. Landon’s job is finding entertainment for the club and his new idea involves having a summer residency but he has trouble finding the perfect act, until Jason shows him a viral video of Vivi Z. Needless to say, Landon is blown away by both her voice and her beauty. Unfortunately, fate throws a huge roadblock in their journey—in order for the impact of the story not to be dampened I won’t share what that is. Landon and Vivi twisted my heart every which way but oh what story. Loved everything about this one, grab it and enjoy. (It would be helpful to read book #2 to understand some of the dynamics in the story.)
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I obviously enjoy anything Carly writes since I’m leaving a review, but this particular series is over the top. I thought Jason and Faith’s book was the best, then I read Tanner and Scarlett’s and decided that one became my new fav. Nope. It’s this one.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
Carly Phillips has always been a go-to author for me and this series has been one of my favorites. In this third book, we get the story of Landon Bennett and it’s not one you’re going to want to miss.
Landon Bennett is one of the owners of the club TEN29 with his friends Tanner Grayson and Jason Dare. After some not so great press recently, Landon has come up with the idea that they should have a summer musical resident to try to bring back the crowds to the club. Leave it to him to have found a viral sensation that he’s got his sights set on to be the perfect act.
Vivi Zane is doing all she can to get noticed in the music business, but so far she hasn’t hit paydirt. Well, that was until a performance of hers has gone viral and her voice is being heard in more places than she could have imagined. When she’s approached by Landon to take the summer residency they are offering, she feels like it may be too good to be true. Is it?
Landon and Vivi have immediate chemistry, but when it comes to light that there is another tie between them, will it be too much for them to overcome. Or will they be able to put the past in the past and see where their insane chemistry can go?
I was completely captivated by this fast-paced and enjoyable story. This is definitely my favorite of this series so far!

Better than Sexy is the third book in Carly Phillips Sexy series and I have to be honest, it was the one I was most looking forward to. I couldn’t wait to see Landon get his HEA, plus I was totally intrigued with the heroine in this story 😉
As I have said many times before, Carly Phillips is one of my favorite authors. I love the worlds and characters she creates. She gives us stories that totally captivate the readers and characters you can’t help but fall in love with.
Better than Sexy is a standalone novel and told in Dual POV from the third person. This series has interconnected characters and the secondary storyline is connected, so for those reasons I would recommend reading this series in order. I felt the flow and pace of this story worked well. I love how Carly gets to the heart of the story right from the beginning. She doesn’t drag anything out, but nothing feels to rushed either. I loved how this book concluded all of the storylines that we have followed through this series. This had the perfect ending!!!
In this story we follow the journey of Landon and Vivi. Landon is the last of the club owners to get his story told. He is the twin brother of Levi. Vivi is an up and coming musician whose dream is to make it big some day. So when Landon has the idea to offer a summer residency at the club and is shown Vivi’s videos, he is instantly captivated. Determined to get Vivi in the club and his life, he won’t take NO for an answer. The only problem is Vivi is hiding a secret and once it comes out things might not go so great for the couple. Can Landon over look Vivi’s secret?? Can they get their HEA?? Read this book to find out.
As with the other books, I really enjoyed seeing the other couples in this book. I felt like this book really wrapped up their stories as well. I also liked getting to know Amber a little more and can’t wait for her novella to come out!!
I would recommend this book/series to all romance readers out there. If you haven’t read a Carly Phillips book, you are really missing out. You need to experience her writing!!!
I have been enjoying this series so much and am absolutely loving these sexy men who own Club TEN29. I knew from the get-go that Landon’s book was going to be my favorite. Carly Phillips has created yet another series that I can’t seem to get enough of. Landon Bennett is in charge of entertainment at the club he owns with is friends Tanner and Jason. He is instantly enamored with Vivi Zane. And talk about irony. She is the one woman he should run away from yet is the first to pique his interest in a long time. Vivi (aka Vivienne Clark) grabs his attention and soon he does everything he can to spend time with her including sign her up to be the musical attraction for the summer at the club. He does not know her connection to his painful past at first and it does cause quite the complication to their budding relationship once he does. This story is amazing and all the characters are so relatable even though some of their pasts may be a bit complicated. Full of heart and soul with plenty of steamy scenes thrown in, this book kept me pleasantly ensnared from beginning to end.
