“Better Than Me” is book 2 in the Remington Medical series by Kimberly Kincaid. The author is a wonderful writer and just when you think that this book is your favorite the next one comes along and then that book becomes your favorite. This story is about two friends. Natalie needed a place to stay because of a freak accident in her apartment. Jonah is her friend, and known to be somewhat of a ladies man, but he offers to let her stay at his apartment. They find that their attraction is more than friendship, and even a ‘no strings attached’ rule becomes harder for them.
Better Than Me is the second in Kimberly Kincaid’s Remington Medical series, and is about best friends who get backed into a temporary roomie situation where their other more passionate feelings for each other can no longer remain in a box. While it stands alone well, the entire series is definitely worth reading, and the interlocking relationships are a pleasure to revisit.
Natalie Kendrick and Jonah Sheridan are fellow physicians at Remington Medical, and have been BFFs for ages. They get along like a house afire whether at work or on the rarer occasions they’re able to enjoy some down time with each other or with a larger group of friends. Part of it is because they don’t think of each other “that way”. Until a bathtub falls through Natalie’s ceiling and out of options, she asks Jonah if she can crash on his spare futon while her landlord scrambles for repairs. As much as he zealously guards his privacy–women do NOT spend the night, ever–Jonah can’t say no to his cheerfully upbeat ride-or-die.
As Natalie and Jonah spend more time in the more intimate space of being at home together, they’re having a pretty hard time flipping their view of each other back to the friendly “just friends” images. But as their friends point out, when you find MORE, that’s not a bad thing–it’s a gift.
Ms Kincaid’s story is sweet and hot, and sharing Jonah and Natalie’s journey to discovering more about themselves and each other is a distinct pleasure. They also don’t exist in isolation, as the staff at Remington Medical and their families provide strong secondary characters. Better Than Me is an excellent read, one that doesn’t shy away from hard things happening in life, and one for the keeper shelf.
Best friends make the best couples especially when they don’t want to ruin their friendship. I loved this friends to lovers story.
If there ever was a playboy charmer with a panty-melting smile, it would be Dr. Jonah Sheridan. Dr. Love’em and Leave’em surgeon, the “orgasm whisperer” is a legendary lothario at Remington Medical. Of course, his best friend is the angelic Dr. Natalie Kendrick, a pediatric surgeon who is an eternal optimist and “kid whisperer.” While Jonah soothes his lovers with whispered “sweet nothings” Natalie soothes her young patients with a kind smile and sweets. Yet Natalie and Jonah have plenty in common – a dedication to patients and friends. So, when Natalie needs a place to stay when her apartment becomes unlivable for a while, what else is best friend Jonah to do but offer up a roof over her head. Little did Jonah know that Natalie would take up residence in his heart as well.
It is easy to classify this as an “opposites attract” or a “friends to lovers” romance, but that is too simple a label to place on Natalie and Jonah. Underneath their personas lie very complex feelings, hurts and desires. As each one gets exposed, we slowly understand where they each are coming from. Jonah is hiding secrets that he has allowed to rule his head and heart too long. As always, this author always manages to balance the sad secrets with tender smiles, the intense with serene and the ying with the yang – which is a perfect description for Natalie and Jonah! And nothing is more intense that an emergency room in an urban medical trauma center! Ms. Kincaid realistically conveys the hectic yet coordinated world that exists in the ER.
Now, Jonah was not the only one with a secret. Natalie’s secret is a doozy; when that issue erupted again, all I could think of was that this book had the best of endings and the worst of endings. What do I mean? I wanted nothing but sunshine and flowers for these two, but sometimes life sends a cloud or two at you. How Natalie and Jonah deal with that is pure romance magic.
Now, let’s get Connor’s story……
What do you do when a bathtub from your upstairs neighbors apartment falls into your apartment leaving a total mess? You move in with your best friend, that’s what you do, even when your best friend is a sexy trauma surgeon who doesn’t believe that love exist. That is what happens in the second book in the Remington Medical series, Natalie Kendrick moves in with her best friend Jonah Sheridan. Natalie is a pediatric surgeon and with the crazy hours they keep this sounds like the ideal solution to her problem, besides they have always had each others backs. I’m not going to tell you why Natalie’s parents are so overprotective or why Jonah doesn’t believe in love, you will have to read the book to find that out, but I will tell you that this is a romance that you will not want to miss. The main characters are fantastic, sexy, smart, and adorable, but the other characters in this book are great too. There are happy times and sad times, but love, friendship, romance, fun and passion fill the pages. Five “hopeful” stars for this one and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
(This book can be read as a standalone)
I loved this book, romance with a HEA mixed with medical and I love books wheee you get to read all the main characters stories in another book!!
This is the story of Jonah & Natalie, with secondary characters. This is a very emotional story, and you feel every emotion right along with them. Even though they are best friends, there are secrets they haven’t told one another. There is a mishap at Natalie’s apartment, and she ends up living with Jonah until it is resolved. He is not the marrying kind. She definitely is the marrying kind. They go through so much to get where they are now. They will be in the next book, I’m assuming for the final resolution to their story. I was so caught up in this book I couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to Between You and Me.
There are not enough words to tell you how amazing this book was! Natalie and Jonah’s story was everything I thought it would be and so much more. This book had me laughing and crying, it was abit of an emotional rollercoaster! With some familiar “faces” appearing along the way and a sneak peak into who the next book in the series is about this is another must read from Kimberly.
I loved Better Than Me by Kimberly Kincaid. Better Than Me is the story of Natalie Kendrick and Jonah Sheridan. Natalie is a pediatrician at the Remington Medical Center and Jonah is the hot and sexy trauma surgeon, they are best friends. When Natalie needs temporary housing, after her apartment suffers flood damage from the apartment above, she asks Jonah is she could sleep on his couch. What starts out as awkwardness among friends ends up with them both agreeing to a short term “friends with benefits”. Natalie reveals many secrets to Jonah about her life and the choices that she made and were made for her. Natalie and Jonah bond over Annabelle, one of Natalie’s cancer patients. Natalie has career decisions and life decisions to make. Can Natalie and Jonah go from friends to lovers, without jeopardizing their friendship and without letting anyone at Remington in on their little secret. There are so many plot twists, poignant moments, and surprises in the book and I loved every moment. I could not put it down. It was a great book and Kimberly Kincaid is an amazing storyteller. Her characters are super hot and their actions are sizzling. Glad to catch up with some of the characters in Back To You. Cannot wait for Between You and Me, Connor and Harlow’s story. I am sure it will be sizzling hot!
I’m Hooked!! Jonah and Natalie’s story is heartbreaking and sexy and very realistic. I wasn’t really sure how I would like this story because I am not a big fan of best friends turned lovers romances. But, this one sucked me in. The chemistry between Nat and Jonah is electrifying! I loved it!!
This is the 2nd book in the Remington Medical series and this time we get to read about friends & co-workers Jonah & Natalie. Jonah is commitment shy & has this no women staying over at my place rule. But when Natalie, who is his best friend needs to find a place to stay after her apartment is damaged he offers to let her stay with him, after all it will only be for 6 weeks. He’s not used to seeing certain clothing items hanging in his apartment but while living & working together they grow close. Especially as they work on a case at the hospital together.
“Better Than Me” is a beautiful story of best friends Jonah and Natalie, both accomplished surgeons, crossing the line from friends to lovers. We first meet Jonah, the playboy surgeon, and Natalie the pediatric surgeon, in “Back To You” as part of a group of friends. Their own journey is filled with so many great emotional moments as they open themselves up to each other to things they have never spoken of. Not even to a best friend. Finding their HEA was so beautiful as they deal with their own trauma as well as life in a hospital. A story I fell in love with from the first page, I look forward to reading more of the series as it becomes available. **I was gifted a copy of “Better Than Me” by Booksprout.** My opinion and review is my own and voluntary. 5 Stars!
“I want someone to share their last bite of cheesecake with!”
Natalie and Jonah have been best friends for the past four years. In that time they have never slept together because as far as they are both concerned, they are just friends But everyone they work with, wonders if that’s the case or if there is more between them.
Both Natalie and Jonah go through sooooo much in this story and as the story unfolds, they both question decisions they’ve made in the past but help each other out in trying situations in the present. This story was unexpectedly heartfelt and emotional but I absolutely loved it
I look forward to finding out more about Connor and Harlow in the next instalment
The accurate synopsis spells this story line out pretty clearly here, my fellow medical romance book loving friends. If it intrigues you, my diagnosis for you is to pull up a chair, put your feet up, and dive right in this stand-alone but part of a series, friends to lovers romantic tale.
Better brace yourself though for this afraid to love/commit, handsome, hunk of a doctor’s womanizing past reputation. He’s known as the king of one night stands, which we are often reminded. We are given an explanation why he has closed off his jaded heart. At least, we aren’t given graphic details or run-ins with the long list of nameless OW he’s spent fleeting, passionate moments with. It is bothersome enough to know Natalie is well aware of his former misbehaving during his boys night out barroom ventures.
Natalie, the heroine, was a compassionate, resilient, hardworking pediatric cancer doc heroine, who deserved to find true love. My heart ached for what she has endured. She works so hard she has had little time to breathe. She’s always just accepted Jonah the way he is, without judgement or stipulations. She’s been a friend of his since college and now at the same hospital (but more of a classmate/coffee and lunch buddy). Not surprisingly, Jonah finds myself turning away from easy conquest temptations to wanting and needing more of Natalie, his new temporary roommate, in his life.
It’ll be up to you to decide if you can forgive/forget Jonah’s past and his stubborn reluctance to believe in a forever kind of love. Also, if you can embrace Natalie’s decision to temporarily put on hold her recent search for a lifetime marriage partner so she can pursue the undeniable attraction/chemistry she suddenly feels with Jonah. They come to a short term agreement that morphs into an all consuming love that will not be denied.
All in all, the writing flowed, and I especially enjoyed the sweet, grand gesture near the end. It seems like forever since I’ve read a medical romance where the main couple are both doctors. It’s one of my favorite romance genres, folks, so I’m inclined to be rather forgiving/lenient. However, I did lower my rating by one star for Jonah’s past womanizing mindset/behavior.

Who doesn’t love a best-friends-to-lovers romance? I know I absolutely adore them! And Better Than Me is one of my favorites! I knew Jonah and Natalie would move beyond their friendship.
But man, it took some convincing. I totally understood where both Jonah and Natalie stood—both absolutely cherished their deep friendship, not wanting to risk losing that if things didn’t work out romantically between them. But once they took a chance on themselves and love, wowza, I couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear.
I loved how they loved each other—that they finally got over themselves and their fears and insecurities and realized that adding love to their already strong friendship could make them so much better. That their relationship would blossom instead of flounder. I loved every angsty minute!
Friends to lovers romance with hot doctors! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Natalie and Jonah are best friends who because of an accident at her apartment Natalie went to live with Jonah. There is an attraction that neither can deny. There are things that these two friends never shared with each other will these secrets bring them together or pull them apart? Loving this new series! Can’t wait for the next one!!!
A wonderful, heartfelt story. It will make you laugh, cry, and say “wow.” The characters are realistic and believable. Best Friends to lovers without losing the friendship is hard to do, and Jonah and Natalie are tested. The storyline flowed well. I highly recommend this book.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely be reading more. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I am going to read the first book to see what, if anything, I may have missed. This is an emotional friends to lovers story brought about by some extenuating circumstances that bring Natalie and Jonah living together as roommates. At first, Jonah is reluctant to have anyone move in due to his past relationship and he is unwavering in his decision to stay single. Natalie’s only option is to convince Jonah to let her crash on his futon or risk returning home to her parents’ house where she will be under a microscope with her parents hovering. As Natalie and Jonah spend time together in close quarters, their friendship deepens and somewhere along the way, their relationship changes and secrets are shared. However, with everything that they are going through, there are still some obstacles that throw in a wrench into their lives. Can Natalie and Jonah work together to combat the problems that life is hurling their way or will it tear them apart? This is one storyline rich with endearing characters, strong chemistry, and just proves that love conquers all. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Best friends to lovers? This was a steamy story. Jonah was damaged and didn’t believe in lasting relationships other than with his best friend and fellow surgeon Natalie, but the benefits were there. I loved the fast pace of the hospital. I loved Annabelle, who make the story happy, but a little sad, too. I loved the hope in this story. I did call where Natalie’s story was going to go. It was obvious the writing on the wall. All-in-all, it was a good read.
Well hello, Jonah. Be my friend. Natalie and Jonah were friends, in the medical field, knew all about chemistry, in very close proximity to each other, and knew a lot about the other. I entered this series with book two and I want to go back to book one. I love friends-to-lovers. I love when they have a history. I loved when there is so much more to them getting together. I found a cast of character that I would like to know more about. I found them to be fun, rich, and felt like family.
