The story that started it all…
Matt understands labels: law student, athlete, heterosexual. He has goals: graduate and begin his career in law. One fateful night, Matt tags along with his gay roommate to a dance club and everything changes.
Aaron doesn’t believe in labels, and he’s leery of straight curious men. Aaron can’t deny the attraction between him and Matt, he is reluctant to start … attraction between him and Matt, he is reluctant to start anything with someone who is still dealing with what this new label means—especially when that someone has a girlfriend.

4.5 stars… This was a sweet story and I really appreciated the way that Matt’s journey of self discovery was portrayed. So often the emotional, questioning aspects of newly out characters are glossed over. This book addresses them and gives them gravitas without being maudlin or overly naval gazing. Aaron makes a good counterpart as he both helps guide Matt but also questions his own decisions about the relationship.
There were some story elements that seemed to need more extrapolation and the big crisis moment was a bit confusing for me. The book is told from Matt’s POV and we never get a good look in Aaron’s head to understand his response in the moment at the mall and then afterwards. I felt kind of lost. I loved the resolution (and thanks one of my favorite songs!) but I still felt like there were some pieces missing (Matt’s family?) and the epilogue needed just a bit more wrap up to it.
But overall yet another enjoyable read from an author I can always count on to give me and entertaining read.
As straight-to-gay stories go, this was pretty good , gay character a little overdrawn
Audiobook review:
Overall: 5
Performance: 5

Great story, great performance!
Better Than Good is the first audiobook performed by Tyler Stevens that I’ve listened to and I loved it. I’m a relative new comer to Lane Hayes writing and have been slowly trying to catch up with her backlist. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to read this one.
This book is a great out-for-you/coming out story. Matt has always considered himself straight but he can’t fight the attraction he feels for a beautiful man he met in a gay nightclub. Aaron is out and proud and won’t hide who he is for anyone. He’s attracted to Matt but he’s not interested in a straight guy who wants to experiment.
Wow, this story really has some powerful moments and Tyler Stevens voice really conveyed the emotions that Matt and Aaron were feeling. This is a fairly angsty story as Matt has to deal with his coming out as bisexual and Aaron isn’t coping well with how long it’s taking.
I really loved these characters. The writing is so good and left no doubt about how deeply Matt cares for Aaron while at the same time conveying the turmoil felt by both characters as they navigate their way to a happy ever after.
I’ve read this author before. This is a contemporary mm romance with the main characters Matt and Aaron. Told from Matt’s POV only. Aaron is a fashion photoshoot extra. Matt is a college student studying Law and plays guitar occasionally for a live venue. Matt starts out with a girl and soon realises he is bi sexual , breaks it off with the girl and starts a slow relationship with Aaron. I’ll read more from this author.
Great book, easy to read and fun characters. Part of a series to keep the story going
A story about a gay bromance written by a woman. It’s a fun chick book. A male writer would have had the main characters using PrEP rather than condoms.
Boy, I don’t know what to say about this book except that I had to immediately buy up the rest of the set! I loved these characters.
