Starvation, filth, and killing poverty were the vile realities of his childhood until Liam MacGregor escaped London’s Whitechapel hell for good. His success in the real world had only begun to erase his nightmare when his heart discovered the beautiful Lady Millicent. He would do anything for this woman he was swiftly learning to love, except the one thing she asked of him. He would go anywhere … anywhere she wished him to, except the one place she begged him to go. Because no one could be so lucky to escape Whitechapel twice and live to tell about it.

Liam Millicent
Another winner in this series! Liam is not from nobility but from the filth and poverty of London’s Whitechapel. Despite his harsh and loveless childhood, with the help of a friend, he works hard to make a good and honorable life for himself. When Lady Millicent comes asking for his help to find her sister, Liam is drawn to her immediately and risks all, even his very life. A beautiful bond forms as their feelings grow and they support each other through hardships that continuously challenge them. So much going on in this book with a wide host of characters, good and bad. A wonderful love story with lots of action, surprises and romance.
Liam grew up in the dregs of hell. The life he grew up in is never far from his mind. Even though he has turned his life around and is prosperous he still feels he is not good enough. Millicent is the daughter of a Marquis who is a ruthless father and has caused her sister to go missing and she needs Liam’s help in finding her. This is the third book in the series but definitely a stand alone. Reading the first two will just enhance this wonderful story. I loved both characters and watching their story unfold. There is a lot involved, mystery, romance being able to watch Liam grow and trust and love. Definitely recommend this story! So well written.
The third book in a really good series, this is the story of Lady Millicent, who is looking for her sister, disowned by her father two years previously. Millie knows that Liam, a business partner with the husband of her friend, grew up in the slums of London, but was lucky to have escaped. She asks Liam if he will assist her in locating her sibling, whom she believes may be hiding in those very slums to escape the notice of their abusive father.
Liam is enthralled with Millie, and wants to assist her, but knows if he goes back into his past, he does so at great risk to himself. Should he risk it all for this young woman he is coming to find he cares for?
This story is a well written tale, filled with intrigue and twists that kept this reader turning page after page. Liam and Millie have a complicated relationship filled with longing, but plagued by outside influences. Danger lurks, and they must decide how they can escape it together.
I loved this story, the characters, and this series is unique and interesting as well. I highly recommend it.
Liam MacGregor was a child of the worst slums of London. He grew up in Whitechapel full of poverty, grime, starvation and alone. He found his way out as a young lad and now worked for Edison Textiles and Ready-Made Gowns. At a wedding reception, he was approached by Lady Millicent, who knew of his background, and asked him to help find her sister that she knew was living in Whitechapel. Liam refused and he knew that his soul could not take going back into that part of town. But when Milly came to work at Edison, he recognized that he would give in and help her. And so, the adventure begins; discovery, gloomy intelligences, and a romance that Liam feels he can not afford. Laura Landon’s book is full of wonderful characters, selfish fathers, and a discovery that Liam did not see coming.
what a wonderful series.
Liam McGregor has worked his way up from the roughest slums in London . Another boy just a few years older than him saved his life and the two of them now move among the “ton” with ease. He knows a lot of them see him still as a guttersnipe, but he didn’t expect one to ask him to go back to the slums.
Lady Millicent Thatcher is at her wits end. After a big fight with their father her sister ran away. Now nobody seems to know where she is. Rumour has it that she is hiding in the slums. Our heroine must find her sister, but can’t let her father know.
An action packed, clean romance with unusual and fascinating characters. Heartache and danger surround both of our protagonists, and there is a nice mystery to solve.
A very enjoyable read that is part of a series, but easily read on it’s own.
Good fun.
Liam MacGregor had survived the slums of London and knew he did not have anything to offer a wife and children. As he attended the wedding of another of his friends, he knew life was too precarious. Little did he know that his life was about to change when he heard a lady say his name. Lady Millicent threw away all propriety when she introduced herself and asked for his help. But she asked for the one thing he felt he could not do which was go into the place he tried to forget, to look for her sister.
But fate often has other ideas and the story begins. Laura Landon always pulls me into her stories quickly and this was no exception! A wounded hero, a lady that has had her share of hardships and an almost impossible situation that may not end well. Prepare to be thoroughly entertained in this third book in the series! This can be read as a standalone but you will enjoy each story of four gentlemen who have overcome their beginnings!!!
