Drew Presley’s wife was murdered while he was serving his country in Iraq. Giving up a career he loved, he’s returned to Dauphine Island to care for his son and try to make a new life for them. The unsolved murder of his wife continues to plague him. The islanders are very protective of their own and he fears a killer is among them. The more he searches for answers though the more dangerous it … becomes. Just as troublesome is his attraction to his son’s second-grade teacher.
Trudy Walsh was Nora Presley’s best friend so the bond she has with Nora’s motherless child is only normal. And when Reed’s father begins to volunteer on the set of the spring play, she begins to second guess the stale relationship she is currently in. Drew’s obsession with his wife’s murder threatens their friendship when he begins to suspect a fellow islander.

Betrayal
Wounded Heroes Series, Book 3
By: Anne Patrick
Narrated by: Leonor A. Woodworth
I absolutely love the Wounded Heroes series. Each book, original and brings not only a good, inspirational story, but visibility to just how much our veterans go through keeping us safe. This story is especially wonderful because it features a single dad, and it’s a trope I truly enjoy. Drew comes home after his tour of duty. He come to stay because his wife, Nora, was murdered and he needs to be home for his son Reed. Trudy is Reed’s teacher, and after a rocky start, these two become friends. The island they live on is small, and everyone knows everyone’s business. So you would think it would be easy to find out who killed Nora. Anne Patrick gives us intriguing twists and turns that kept me listening. I had my suspicions, but in the end she surprised me! And I absolutely loved the kids. Reed and Billy made this story very real and brought a little levity to serious scenes.
Narrated by Leonor A Woodworth continues her narration of this fabulous series. I love her voice, and every story she narrates is wonderful. Her voice is comforting, her voices easy to distinguish and she is a pleasure to listen to.

Will they find out the truth…or die trying?
Out of the three audiobooks that I’ve listened to in the Wounded Heroes series from Anne Patrick I think that Betrayal is the one that I liked the best. Sure, much of the story felt more like a romance than suspense, but that was OK. I felt like it gave me the chance to get to know the main characters better and to understand why the mystery affected every aspect of their lives.
I enjoyed the fact that a few characters from the previous two Wounded Heroes books made various appearances in this story but what I loved the most was that an unsolved case from one of the books found a resolution in Betrayal. It was perfect the way Anne Patrick wove those two stories together.
Other than a misplaced negative comment about hunting while the characters were all about to be eating steaks at a BBQ, I really liked this book. It was a fun listen and I enjoyed trying to figure out the killer’s identity.
As always the narrator was a delight to listen to. Her audio recording is top notch and she has the absolute perfect voice for audiobook narration. So, I have absolutely no complaints about the technical aspects of this audiobook and I would recommend it to any fan of the author and/or of Christian romantic suspense.

I wish I could give 10 stars!
Inspirational and suspenseful – only God’s mercy and grace can bring peace and happiness out of suffering and betrayal… “It was hard to find closure when justice wasn’t served…” Worth every minute of your reading time.
The narrator brings every character to life and you become a part of the story – amazing job Leonor!
