Betray (verb): to deliver to an enemy by treacherySold to a sex trafficker by her drug-dealing boyfriend, Phebe Lawson possessed first-hand knowledge of the secrets of betrayal. She’d given up all hope. Her life no longer held any meaning. She would have wished for death to come and take her away, except she knew wishes were wasted on people like her. Until the day he entered her life. He was a … He was a beacon of light in the bleakness she called existence. His arrival sparked a longing inside her that, maybe, hope wasn’t a useless emotion after all.

Donovan Jeffries was the charming one. The flirty, social Dom of the local BDSM club, Eden. He thought he’d found the perfect submissive. Until she betrayed him with another. He closed himself off, vowing to never give his heart to another woman. Until the day she entered his life. Her despair touched a part of his soul he’d thought forever lost, and he would move heaven and earth to piece all her broken parts back together.

I’ve learned more about the “lifestyle” by reading LK Shaw’s Secrets than I ever thought possible. The true relationship dynamics between a sub and Dom is amazing. I had no clue! I was totally entranced with this book and the others in the series. Great as standalone or as part of the series! Looking forward to reading MORE!!!!
This is the fifth book in this series and each one is a great story on it’s own but I would encourage you to read each one in order you will find it makes it better. This is a well written story with wonderful characters. I truly believe you will enjoy this book. But please remember that these stories are in a BDSM setting so this is kink but well written kink so if this not your type of story you will not like this one. I enjoyed this whole series. Give it a chance.
What an incredible story that will make you all kinds of emotional! Phebe went thru hell and yet she is the strongest, most amazing woman character. And don’t get me started on Donovan! He is the epitome of a Dom who only wants to help her. This story deals a bit with human trafficking but the author handles it with dignity. These two characters are so much more than they are perceived. Their interactions are sizzling, but you can tell they are holding back on their feelings for one another. I enjoyed everything about this book and so will you!
Empowering.
Not the easiest book to read. I had to put it down and come back to it. I started all over from page one. WOW WOW WOW!!! So many emotions. LK really knows how to make you search for your inner strength. What Phebe endures is horrifying. Donavan is the prosecuting attorney. He gets Phebe to see a therapist. They both have secrets. She wants to have him teach her submission. The story of these two is epic. In my opinion it you want a heart pounding sexy read buy this book and get busy reading… From a True Fan… Pam James.
The fourth book of the series. You do need to have read the previous book Secrets of Redemption otherwise you will miss the back story. This book focusses on the relationship and journey of Phebe and Donovan.
Phede is an amazing and strong woman, who struggles to survive and find herself again. That is not something that happens overnight and it takes take time and hard work.
Donovan finds a new purpose when he meets Phebe. He will do anything to help her, but he has his own struggles.
There are some dark scenes in the book, but the overall feel of the book isn’t dark at all. For me this book is about empowerment and overcoming tragedy and love.
I’ve been waiting for this book for awhile now and to be honest, I was worried it would be to dark for me. I like dark romance but only until a certain point. The book grabbed me from the first page and while it took me several days to read it, it was good. I could feel the emotions pour out of Phebe and Donovan as they both struggled to overcome things that have happened to them in the past. Both were betrayed, both were damaged and hurt, but could they overcome all of this pain to become each others saviors? The depth of emotions were real and I found myself crying a few times. This was a beautiful story of strength and overcoming odds that are overwhelming to most people. Pick this book up and enjoy!!
