How can I pick words for this book? Just get the whole series and start reading-you won’t be able to put them down!!
Nox Is a man that follows the exposed rules, while Alex is just as a rebel as Charli. The book is amazing and will make you never want to stop reading. “The rules have changed”
Holy whiplash batman! I did NOT see that coming! … Wait, let me back up. First off, there is a cliffhanger. So, warning to those who aren’t patient for a continuation on a story, you are warned. The next book, Cunning, is scheduled to come out January 19. So before you go read this and then cry over the ending, I have warned you. But that ending…. oh that ending. It solidified the over-the-top rating for this book!
After meeting Alexandria and Nox for a week, I was left wondering just how their lives would intercept again. I knew they had to. They are the basis of this story. So, I kept wondering when it would happen and how.
I got to follow these characters through their tumuluous meeting and week-long fling. Then I got to see the aftermath of how much their fling affected them aftwards. All the while, begging for these two to be reunited. But this is Aleatha. Nothing is ever that simple. Nothing is ever that easy. This wouldn’t be an Aleatha book without it being tortuous, slow and painful. In true Aleatha-form, this story played out slow and painful. I loved every last second of it!
Now, at first, I thought of comparing this book to Consequences. However, that wouldn’t be fair to either book. They are nothing alike. The only likeness they really have is that they are both written by the same person and they have some unbelievable twists and turns. The comparison stops there. So I can’t really compare them. I can say that this book left me jaw on the ground and my heart beating out of my chest.
If you haven’t read any of Aleatha’s books before, I feel I need to warn you. This is not a fairytale love story. None of her books are. They are raw and will have your adrenaline pumping from start to finish. They are the other side of a fairytale. They are fairytales gone wrong, but in the best possible way. You find yourself in the most love-hate state of mind you could imagine. To say that I continue to be an Aleatha cheerleader is an understatement.
Buckle-up, fasten your seatbelt and be ready for a new ride with Alexandria and Nox… you new favorite characters to talk about for the forseeable future!
Run, do not walk, to your computer (smart phone, tablet, whatever) and purchase this entire series!! Loved it, every page. Would give it fifty stars if I could. Having trouble moving on to another book, because I’m still in love with these characters. Bravo!
Good story, but such a slow reading book that dragged on forever, then the next book in the series was next
Had a decent story line….a little unrealistic but interesting. Went on to read the 2nd book and that is where I put the brakes on. Book 2 was super unrealistic and predictable. Two thumbs down!!!
Aleatha Romig is one of my favorite authors. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
Good read
Reading the series!
Love this series. Great characters. A reL page turner. Staying up to finish book. Can’t wait for the next book in series.
When you read this you can’t NOT get the second book.
I think I have a new favorite author. Character development is top notch, and a quick enough pace I didn’t get bored. I hope I am not disapointed with book 2.
Look, most review sites frown upon bad words but this mother effing book… I’m mad at it. It’s been on my Kindle forever and I randomly picked it (really. I used a website to pick a random number and found that number on my tbr). Reading this book was such a slow burn and then I was so worked up about the present times and going home to a crappy family and thinking that I didn’t know if I wanted to really get into the series and pull up relatable family emotions and then BAM. Last five chapters pull you in and tie you down and make you one-click the next book. Ugh. I guess I know what I’ll be doing while I’m snowed in the next couple of days. (Devouring this series, in case you were uncertain)
Alexandria grew up in Georgia living in Montague Manor. Montague Manor had its hierarchy and it didn’t matter that Adelaide and Alexandria were the only true Montagues.
Alexandria counted down the days until she left for California where she would attend Stanford. She wanted a new life away from the Montague obligations. Nothing ever changed in Savannah or around Montague Manor. She was tired of people telling her what to do with her future, what to become, and how well she would do.
Being raised in Savannah came with different expectations for woman. Adelaide raised Alexandria to accept her role beneath a man allowing the man to rule the house. Adelaide taught Alexandria to be a good daughter and marry a man suitable to the Montague name stating “Montague women aren’t meant for jobs. We’re meant for carrying on the name.”
When she returned to Georgia after graduating Stanford it wasn’t a happy return. Savannah was a stagnant town that stunted her as a woman. She couldn’t wait to leave for New York where she would spend the next three years studying law at Columbia.
Before she returned to Savannah her and a friend went to Del Mar for a week where she met Nox. Nox and Alex made a conscious effort to limit the information they shared. They worked to stay away from their backstories and agreed to live in the here and now. For one week she wanted to forget about her prestigious name and live her own life not as Miss Alexandria Charles Montague Collins, but as Charli. Nox taught Charli how to tap into her erotic side by removing all her inhibitions. She was to relax and trust that Nox could make her feel alive through sex.
Trope: sex with a stranger, female heir, romance
Overall:
Infidelity is a five-book series with each book consisting of some very graphic sex scenes. The book centers around this hierarchy of male power and wealth in a stagnant town.
As the reader alternates between the past and the present we learn about how Alexandria becomes Alex. Although, I couldn’t wrap my head around the difference between the past and the six weeks earlier chapters.
Southern Georgia hospitality with its glowing charm of wealth and power had me gagging. I loved Alex’s fierce determination to face her parents with deviance. Although, reading about all these expectations had me stressed out. Alex’s life was too stressful. The pressures from her parents was frustrating. I’m so tired of these backward traditions where parents plan out their children’s lives. I must say I loved Alex’s passion and fire. Her defiance was commendable.
Aleatha saved the best for last with her introduction of Infidelity. Basically book 1 set the backstory about Alex’s circumstances leading her to a new life. If I’d known this is where the story was headed I would’ve had set my expectations differently. I wasn’t all that impressed by book 1, but I am looking forward to book 2 and reading more about Nox.
Narrators:
Samantha Prescott is a veteran audiobook narrator with a penchant for steamy romance novels. A classically trained theater artist, she can be seen in numerous feature films and television commercials.
Brian Pallino is a highly sought-after narrator of contemporary adult and romance books. He has voiced series for multiple award-winning authors. With a versatile range, Brian is a storyteller who strives to bring books to life and move his listeners. While his scenes were limited to a few chapters at the end he was a marvelous performer.
The audiobook far exceeded my expectations. I actually preferred the audiobook over the ebook. I read this book prior to owning the audiobook at which time I rated it three stars. Listening to these narrators perform these characters enhanced my reading experience. While the three star rating still applies to the story the audiobook deserves five stars.
The characters and story are so good I lost track of time and never heard my husband asking me a question.
If it wasn’t for the back and forth between past and present I would have given it 5 stars. I loved the book. Can not wait to read the next installment.
As usual from althea this is a fantastic read. Can’t wait for the next
This was a series of five books, none of them disappointed! I highly recommend all five! A great surprise ending!!!
Read: 2/1/2020
Betrayal was the first book in the Infidelity series by Alethea Romig. It is a five part series and cannot be read as a stand-alone. This was my first book by the author.
Betrayal was primarily about Alexandria Charles Montague Collins aka Alex or Charli. It was told from a single POV and I was hooked from the beginning. The author weaved the tale between past and present from Alexandria’s perspective. We were also graced with Nox’s perspective at the end.
At first I was hesitant to read Betrayal. As part of the Infidelity series I assumed it was the literal sense of the word and being unfaithful; however, it wasn’t about that at all. No spoilers, so no elaboration, but I couldn’t quit reading and read it straight through. It was well written, well developed, fast paced, sexy, intriguing and entertaining. But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Alex’s mom and step father – yuk! They were hard for me to tolerate.
As a series focused on the same characters, a cliff hanger was to be expected and it didn’t disappoint. I totally want to read more. Next up is Cunning.
Really liked it but ended with you hanging to find out what happens.
