After Rhys wakes up married to his best man, he never expects to fall in love with his new husband. Will their surprise romance survive the wedding bells?
Rhys Huntington
Drunkenly eloping with my best man was never part of my wedding plans. Falling in love with him definitely wasn’t supposed to happen. But even though we’re both straight, the longer we’re married, the more I start to love … married, the more I start to love Lucien as my husband and not just as my best friend.
We’re supposed to get an annulment to undo our bad idea. That’s not what I really want, though. I’m ready to bet everything on love by committing to our marriage for real. Can I convince him to stay married to me and give us a chance at finding our happily ever after together?
Lucien St. Amour
I would do anything for my best friend. That apparently includes making a rash decision to save Rhys from the mistake of marrying a woman who doesn’t love him by eloping with him before his wedding. Instead of it being a funny story we tell our friends, the feelings I’ve suppressed for Rhys since sharing our first kiss as teenagers explode into a roaring blaze of desire for my new husband.
Our marriage may have started as a joke in front of an Elvis impersonator at a quickie Vegas wedding chapel, but I meant every word of my vows. Will Rhys allow me to love, honor, and cherish him as my husband like I promised?
Bet on Love is the first book in the Good Bad Idea series and part of the Sunnyside universe. This novel features a friends to lovers, dual bi awakening, second chance, gay romance. If you love cute sweetness, sexy fun, and low angst stories that will make you laugh and swoon, you’ll enjoy this satisfying HEA without cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.

-I almost wondered if I had woken up in a mirror universe where everything was the opposite of my normal reality. How else could I explain why the thought of being with Luci aroused me, but being with my financée seemed like a fate worse than death?
A few days before his wedding to Olivia, Rhys ends up marrying his best friend Lucien on a whim. Even if he did it in an unconscious way to avoid marrying Olivia, maybe it could end up as being the best decision of both their lives after all.
I was cheering when they announced it at breakfast, this was absolutely hilarious.
The dinner they had with Luci’s family was a whole contrast to that one, & it was also priceless for a totally different reason.
“You’re carrying me over the threshold? Aren’t you a romantic softie.”
“I can assure you, no part of me is soft right now.”
Tbh, I like books that are longer in length. I tend to read quickly, so I want something to read that’s a bit longer. Having said this, I absolutely loved this story.
Worth reading!
Rhys and Lucien kick off the Good Bad Idea Series with Bet on Love. A steamy, romantic, childhood best friends-to-lovers, dual bisexual awakening. Full of poignant moments that melt your heart, make you laugh-out-loud, and dream of your own HEA.
Rhys and Luci have been best friends forever. Luci has always supported Rhys, even when he didn’t agree with his choices. When Rhys starts freaking out about getting married, Luci is there for him in whatever capacity he needs. What ends up happening is a series of events that had me in stitches! These two have such a history that subconsciously they make a beautiful mistake that doesn’t necessarily need fixing. I love that they’ve grown up together and know each other so well. They intuitively are drawn to each other but have let society dictate who they should be with and what kind of life they are supposed to live. The way they lean on each other for strength and support was so endearing. This physical chemistry between Rhys and Luci was scorchingly HOT!
another new author for ans i really enjoyed this read! It was bff to lovers with some twists and turns thrown in. Made me giggle and laugh and so glad Luci and Rhys ended up with their HEA!
I am now reading book 2 ..this is a great series
Couldn’t put this book down.
I was swept away lost between the pages feeling all the anguish the guys felt …
Friends to lovers , were Rhys and Lucien first friends or was there always more ?
Was Rhys really going to marry a woman !
Such a great relief for me when they became lovers , a fast paced cute read it held promise and it was delivered…
Already read the second book I found that I was lost between the pages so decided to read the first book and I am not disappointed .
I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. The premise of the book took me by surprise. Best friends who find themselves married, but the way this comes about in the book is new and refreshing. Getting to know Lucien and Rhys and watching them grow as a couple after being best friends for so long. They were each other’s first kiss and although they both dated women over the years, neither of them were happy.
The story unfolded in a way that wasn’t angsty. The way Lucien developed into a protector for Rhys, despite always being there for him, was great to read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and I would highly recommend this book!!
Luci and Rhys are so damn cute!
I did not expect to like this as much as I did. Who’d have thought I just needed a light-hearted romance to make my heart sing and give me all the giddy feels?
Luci and Rhys were adorable together. This made me laugh out loud at moments. Plus the steamy times were HOT
A fun little novella with surprisingly well developed characters. Can’t wait to read the next one when it comes out!
Sweet, romantic, a little tense at times, with some funny moments thrown in. Bet On Love is a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Rhys is getting married, but is it for the right reasons? His best friend Lucian, aka Luci, doesn’t want it to happy, but why? In a chain of drunken and not so drunken events, they end up married, the wedding is canceled, but that isn’t the end to the stories. I loved the characters, and while the theme isn’t the most original, it was a fun and great read with a good storyline. One of my fave parts was telling everyone of their nuptials. Trust me, read this book to find out what I’m talking about. 4 stars and I recommend you one-click today!
4.25 Stars!
GFY has always been one of my favorite tropes and lately, it’s not been as easy to find good ones as when I first started reading MM. Bet on Love definitely is a good example of why I love GFY, or in this case, double GFY.
Luci and Rhys have been BFFs their whole lives and even if they were each other’s first kiss and first (botched) handjob, they’ve always been drawn to women. Now, with Rhys just about to marry his fiancée in Las Vegas, Luci is afraid Olivia will make Rhys put an end to their friendship. Many, many drinks after, and with Rhys getting less and less inclined over actually going ahead with the ceremony, Rhys comes up with a crazy idea, marrying his best man instead.
I loved Luci and Rhys, they were fun and oblivious and despite this being a novella, I think they were very well-developed. They had amazing chemistry and I adored seeing their relationship go from best friends to a married couple and then lovers. While it’s double GFY, as I mentioned before, there wasn’t that much angst as they started getting physical. They were just so comfortable and in tune with each other, that the progression felt realistic and believable and damn, if they weren’t oh, so very hot together!
If you’re looking for a light, sweet, hot, fun read, with very little angst, look no further, as this book fits the bill perfectly. I can’t wait for book 2!

Luci, short for Lucien and Rhys are really cute together. I just wish it was a tad longer, so that we get a bit more background on the characters. They do take the oblivious bestfriends in love to a whole new level. Everyone already thought they were secretly dating!
It’s a short, sweet and a sexy read. It does have a lot of the cliché tropes but if you’re looking for a quick fun read, it doesn’t matter. I did think it was a bit too dramatic, especially at the end when Luci was being stupid. I mean, really?
There’s also an introduction to characters for the next book. While I usually always end up wanting books for a secondary characters the authors have no plan for, this time around they really could have used a bit of subtlety. But I do think I’ll read the next book because it has fake boyfriends!
Overall it’s a cute bestfriends to lovers story that I wish was longer and a bit more fleshed out.

With a simple premise and a little twist in the BFFs to lovers trope, Ms Zoelle made a sweet and endearing love story, easy to read, with tiny angst and many hot scenes. I enjoyed it so much that I couldn’t stop reading until finished it. A book ideal to spend a very nice time while reading it. Loved it!

So sweet, hot, funny and just plain wonderful!
I really loved Luci & Rhys! Such a unique take on the clueless best-friends to lovers trope. From mates and besties to married and confused? I loved the injected wit and cute cluelessness of both characters as they realize they are and have been in love with each other since they were teens. I enjoyed the dual POV and getting into each character’s head.
This story has humor, wit, love and care and a nice amount of sexy steam! I loved the camaraderie between these two from the start and their relationship shifts, evolves and grows throughout the story and I loved that there was no real “back and forth” silliness. The characters were honest with each other and their chemistry and care were always present.
I loved the big reveal and their viewing of the wedding album was just so beautiful. I can’t wait for more in this series and book 2 already has me hooked! Bring on Augie & Ambrose, I can’t wait!!

This was such a cute story! Despite being relatively short, the story was really wholesome and the author used a perfect balance between the plot and the consideration of MCs’ emotions. Both guys were really interesting and the overall feel of the book was that of a sweet revelation of a long time love. This is what a friends to lovers story is about! And it didn’t hurt, that the secondary characters were really well crafted too!
My first by A. F. Zoelle by definitely not my last, what a enjoyable fast reading well written book about friends to lovers that leaves you feeling good when your done. Luci and I have been best friends forever and now that I’m getting married to Oliia I’m wondering why, she is everything I don’t want in a partner. So after my bachlor party, kinda drunk I convince Luci to marry me Vegas style, and we do but in the morning after we wake in bed together I wonder if this was the right thing to do. But after thinking it through I realize I need to convince him I want to be together forever.
Rhys and Lucien have been best friends forever. They love each other to death… and after walking down the aisle in a drunken night til death do them part. I like it that they always show true affection. Their coming into another kind of love is rather sweet and without much angst. This good bad idea series, is a very good idea. Can’t wait to read the next installment!
Bet on Love was a great fast-paced, hot and sexy romance. I definitely love clueless friends who finally figure it out. And fake or accidental marriages are just so hot. Everything about this book was delightful to read, and I definitely think there might be a second story. I totally enjoyed this quick read and recommend it.
Bet on Love by AF Zoelle is the first book in the Good Bad Idea series. I had such a fun time reading this contemporary m/m romance about Rhys and Luci who wake unmarried to each other instead of to the woman who was supposed to be the bride. I love these two men together… the solid foundation of their friendship, the love that everyone can see… they are one of my favorite couples I’ve met this year. The story was funny, sweet and sexy with just that hint of angst…. definitely build my excitement for this new series.
Do you know what I love about reading? When I get to read a story by a new-to-me-author and then subsequently decide this will be a one-click author for the rest of the time.
I simply fell in love with this book, the characters, the storyline, the banter, the drama, the HEA. All of it.
Luci(en) and Rhys were a fantastic couple to read about. Two best friends end up married after a drunken bachelor party in Vegas the night before Rhys’ wedding. When hilarity over a drunken mistake turns out to open their eyes to their true wants and desires, will they overcome it all to reach their happily ever after?
This author gave me everything I look for in a romance book. Plenty of steam, funny snark, witty characters, side characters you love to hate, and side characters you can’t wait to know more about.
This was an amazing start to a new series and I cannot wait for more.
And always from my reviews, my top quotes of the book:
If it’s so wrong, why does being with you always feel so right? … Why do I want tonight to last forever with you so that tomorrow never comes?”
“I vividly remember telling him he was the only person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with – and I still meant it. I’d rather wed my platonic soul mate instead of her.”
“He smiled at me, and in that moment, I knew I was his forever. I always had been. I couldn’t help but think it had been worth the wait to call him mine.”
“Only you could turn a bad idea into a happily ever after.”
Lucien and Rhys were adorable and so sweet. This best friends to lovers romance was short, lovely and an awakening for both men. Luci and Rhys definitely stole my heart and I cannot wait for the secondary characters in this world to get their own happily ever after.
