The beloved New York Times bestselling novel, now with an exclusive letter from Jennifer Crusie in celebration of its tenth anniversaryThis is New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Crusie’s novel about long shots, risk management, true love, and great shoes. . . .Minerva Dobbs knows how to work the odds.Calvin Morrisey always plays to win. But when they face off, neither one is … win.
But when they face off, neither one is prepared.
Because when real life meets true love, all bets are off. . . .
Minerva Dobbs knows that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man who asked her to dinner to win a bet, even if he is gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey. Cal knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs, even if she does wear great shoes and keep him on his toes. When they say good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to see each other again.
But fate has other plans, and it’s not long before Min and Cal meet again. Soon they’re dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a freakishly intelligent cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of. Including the biggest gamble of all—true love.

Funny and great characters with some twist.
I am a huge fan of Jennifer Cruisie, so much so that I reread her books every year. I just finished Bet Me for the umpteenth time and enjoyed it every bit as much as I did the first time I read it.

I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author. I think I have read them all and wait for a new one to come out.
One of the best
This book was a lot of fun to read.
I was recommended this author when I was looking for a great romantic comedy and the author did not disappoint. There are a number of characters being followed throughout the story but their lives intertwine such that it really works. There is a little bit of “physical” comedy but the majority is achieved through witty dialogue and internal musings. She has developed fantastic characters who each have their own personality. Must read!!
This is a fun book leaving you wanting more.
Excellent read!
Loved it. I read this book years ago and I still laugh when I think about it. Jennifer Cruise has got sarcasm down pat!!!
Bet Me is not your usual romantic novel. Min, a slightly overweight woman who has a penchant for food and shoes, is no pushover and gives Cal, a handsome entrepreneur with his own issues, a run for his money. I like how the author wove friendship and family into the romance. I read this book when I need a “feel good pick-me-up”.
5 STARS!!
My second Jennifer Crusie novel (I’ve read more since) and by far my favorite. I enjoy all of her stories, but this one solidified JC as one of my favorite authors and my penchant for romantic comedies. I just need her to write more books. 🙂
I love all of Jennifer Crusies books, her stories are very witty and original.
Min and Cal are to this day two of my favorite H/H. They started my love affair with HEAs. Min is your everyday average woman with all that entails – a job she “likes”, friends shes couldn’t live without, family she puts up with but adores, and fifteen extra pounds she could without. She is going through the motions of her life now that her latest boyfriend David is out the door and had decided that men can frankly ‘pound sand’ and she is goingto get a cat and just be the cliche spinster. Cal is your textbook bachelor – no plans to settle down and happy resting on his laurels. Cal is used to getting by on his looks and charm but when he meets Min he has met his match. The only problem she thinks its only because of a overheard Bet! Hilarity ensures and feelings grown. Endless to say these two realize that sometimes the best laid plans are derailed when it comes to fate.
For my first rec on here, I have to go with Jennifer Crusie’s Bet Me. What would you do if it were mere 3 weeks before your sister’s wedding… and your boyfriend dumps you in a bar? Add onto that, the hot guy you’re about to chat up on the other side of the bar seems to be making a bet with your new ex that he could get you into bed within a month. Well, Min thinks fast on her feet and get the sexy stranger, Cal, to not only want to ask her out (read sleep with her) but to fall in love with her. This one, ladies, is HOT!!! Great characters and great chemistry. Sure, some of it is a little cheesy, but that’s what I love about romance novels. But this one isn’t over the top; it’s funny and gives me all the feels!
Thiis my very favorite book!!! I have read it many times. It still makes me smile and laugh. It is my go to book. I love it!!
I love all of Jennifer Crusie’s books, but this one is my favorite!
