My best friend Penny and I made a pact that this is going to be our best year ever. So naturally it has to come true. Truth be told, we’ve started off the semester a little shaky. Penny may have accidentally fallen in love with her professor. I know, how awkward, right? And I may have accidentally fallen in love with a complete stranger. And by accidentally I mean I stalked him. What? Sue me. I’m … Sue me. I’m the one that’s going to be a lawyer one day so I’ll just file a countersuit. God, when did I become a stalker?
Regardless, Penny and I are going to turn this semester around. I’m nothing if not persistent. And that guy that I keep almost running into on campus? The one with the piercing brown eyes and panty-dropping smile? He’s going to be a big part of my best year ever. I can feel it.

Amazing, I can’t get enough of ivy’s books and this is another gripping read.
Melissa and Penny are college roommates. They are both trying to get over breakups when they start a new year at college. Both run into interesting men on campus. One of them is very taken with another student. The other is interested in a man who turns out to be one of her professors.
This book was better than I expected. I mean, I already knew I would like it, but Melissa’s story was different that what I’d assumed it would be based on Temptation. We got to see a side of Melissa we had not seen before, and it was nice to get a glimpse of James’ and Penny’s love story from another perspective. I wish we could read more about Melissa’s and Josh’s love story/relationship including how they got back together in The Light to My Darkness series, and what took them to Texas.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

Oh my holy gosh!!! This book is absolutely amazing and I devoured it in one sitting. This is a novella but it felt like a full story to me. There is nothing missing that leaves you going what the heck was that. You will close this book probably like I did with a big old grin on your face and a heart full of love. This is the story of Melissa and Josh and you have seen them in previous book if you read Ivy Smoak. If you never have then your not going to feel lost. You do not want to miss this book. It is one that I would recommend to anyone looking for a feel good kind of read that suck you in and doesn’t let you go. Hopefully we will get more Melissa and Josh. I could have spent many, many more hours with these amazing characters.
This novella gives us another glimpse into the Hunted series. It is Melissa’s story when she met Josh and gives her POV of Penny and Professor Hunter’s first meeting. This was such a fun perspective to read and I hope we will have more coming. I love Ivy’s writing and everything she writes is such a joy to read.
If you’re a fan of Ivy Smoak’s The Hunted series the way I am, then you already know and probably love, Melissa, Penny’s best friend. Have you ever wanted to know how her first meeting with Josh was? Where she met him? What he was like? Wanted to know her POV from the time when Penny first met James aka Professor Hunter? If so, then you’re in luck, because Best Year Ever gives us all those things. It’s a tiny taste of things to come, and leaves you dying to know more. Even if you’ve already read and fallen in love with Melissa & Josh and Penny & James, this short little prequel will just whet your appetite for what’s coming.
So, if you’re a fan of this world, then dive into Best Year Ever. If you haven’t read this series yet, this is the perfect book to start with!
Best Year Ever is a super short novella connected to Ivy Smoak’s The Hunted Series. While it is interconnected, it can be read as a standalone. It focuses on Melissa, Penny’s best friend and roommate and it takes place at the time that Penny meets James (Professor Hunter). We get Melissa’s point of view and we see her first meet Josh. The story was veeeeeeeeerrrry short and while I wish it was longer and delved a bit more into Melissa and Josh’s relationship, I loved this taste of their first meeting and Melissa’s POV regarding Penny and Professor Hunter. It’s short and sweet (literally took me maybe 30 minutes to read, if that!) and a great little arc back into one of my favorite stories!
