I totally loved the characters.

Dre wants to hate Erick but the pull of chemistry between them is too strong. She is mad at herself for wanting to get back with Erick. Will she be strong and stay away from Erick or will she let her walls down and try again? Read Best of my love to find out!
This was a lovely read. It’s full of heartbreak and romance. It’s a story about forgiveness and that by being able to forgive we allow ourselves to find love. The characters are beautifully written. I love that Dre character is a strong independent woman even though she has suffered heartache and betrayal.
Dre and Erick were high school sweethearts and were together for years until one day Dre got a call. Erick had cheated on her and the woman was pregnant.
Thinking he was doing the right thing he left Dre and married the other woman. Dre was left heartbroken but she picked herself up and moved away.
10 years later she is a successful business woman who has never gone back home. Until her friend needs her. So Dre returns to her old home and old memories.
Can she rebuild her relationship with her dad and forgive him for what she sees as betrayal? Can Erick win her back over? Can they try again or will the pain of the past be too much for Dre to overcome?
Best of my Love (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson is a second chance romance.
Dre has no intention of ever returning to Emerald Creek. She’s made that clear by staying away for so long. There’s nothing there for her except her best friend Shayna and her kids, which is precisely what brings Dre back. Erick made a massive mistake and lost the love of his life. Seeing her back in Emerald is hard knowing he was what drove her away in the first place. Will Dre being back in Emerald Creek for the summer dredge up old memories or have they lost any chance they ever had?
I enjoyed the book it was a great read. I didn’t enjoy Erick so much. He spent a lot of time acknowledging and maybe even feeling bad for the pain he inflicted but those first few interactions he had with Dre lacked any kind of asking for forgiveness. She would have shot him down, that’s Dre’s personality but I feel like Erick continued to make mistakes that he should have learned from. I loved Dre’s character. She’s no nonsense. She tells it like it is. She is herself unapologetically no matter how many people try to make her bend. I definitely recommend!
Dre is a strong character but has some issues. I didn’t like this character at all at first it was just her attitude I didn’t like then we see what Dre truly like . Shanya is depend on Dre and you can see why. Erick
The love scene are very well written. I enjoy this authors scenery writing very well.
Okay this book… please give it a chance and read it before totally reading the reviews. I was a tad heartbroken when I came to review and saw all the hate for this novel because it contains cheating. Ladies it happens. I for one appreciated the raw and real truth that this book gave readers. Sadly I know several friends, and even myself, who have faced situations like these and the option to give a second chance. Maybe I am a hopeless romantic and believe that people can change in ten years, or that love ultimately will and does prevail. This is extremely prevalent in this novel but it is real. So yes this carries the story of a cheater getting a second chance because the woman chooses to do so. It tore me up in a lot of ways as I read it and felt myself relating in some ways. It kept me hanging on and engaged so much I read this is just an evening and it has sat with me ever since. I would give it a go and make sure you have tissues ready and a comfort item.
I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, unpredictable and the writing just flowed! Although Dre was a very different character to what I was expecting, once I learnt more about her background I could understand why she was the way she was! It was great to read about a independent, modern woman who wasn’t afraid to be a spitfire! The characters were all well developed and the plot had just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from N.D. Jackson!
Best Of My Love: (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson. You ever start a book and just think to yourself “yep this ones gonna be good”? I definitely had that moment when I started this one. The characters pulled me in without any trouble and I was ready for their journey. The main character Dre may be one of my favorite characters the author definitely hit the nail on the head with her story. The storyline is engaging and well written with characters I found myself falling for easily. My one sad note to add was when it ended , I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Five big stars and highly recommended.
It’s getting warmer outside and inside with this story at Emerald Creek! If you have read it before, it’s time to read it again because it’s been edited and updated for 2021! It’s time to return with Dre to Emerald Creek this summer to reunite with the man of her dreams, Erick. Both have hearts scared from failed marriages and wounds from the past. Erick is a proud and loving father who has room in his life for romance but carries fear from the past. Will this summer heat be more than the sun and the water? Can these two use this opportunity to try one more time at love? Bring your favorite drink and spend some time at the Creek!
Dre has determined never to return to Emerald Creek and all its shitty memories, but circumstances conspire against her and she is forced to confront both her past and the only man that she ever let herself truly love, who broke her heart. Though she knows that she should keep her distance, everything about the place is still as magical as she remembered, and even though she knows better she can’t resist the pull to Erick that is still as strong as ever. Got to say that Dre is, in one word, a hedgehog. She comes across as so prickly and a little bit unlikeable at the beginning, then as the story goes on, we get to see her soft fluffiness that is desperate to find that love she once believed in. I think this actually made me like her more because I think I’d be a little bit of an arsehole if I had gotten my heart stomped on.
Erick is on the other side of this romantic little coin, drowning in the regret of hurting the one woman he truly loved. He knows that giving his marriage a shot was important and even though it broke down, he still got Orchid, his daughter, who by the way is just awesome. I have sometimes found kids cringey in these kinds of stories, but Orchid was not cringey. Erick can’t help but see Dre turning up at Emerald creeks as a second chance and he is determined to prove himself and show her that if she opens her heart to him this time, he won’t hurt her.
Was a lovely romantic read that warmed my heart, and I thoroughly recommend this to anyone that wants to lose themselves in a bit of light, fluffiness for a while. Jackson has written something truly wonderful here, that should be enjoyed by as many people as possible.
Oh the sarcastic remarks and romance in this book made for a great read! Dre has so much fire in her! Its great to read a story about someone knowing what they need and want even if its hard to admit. Going on the journey with Dre to see if forgiveness is even possible made me read late into the night. Will her and Erick be able to find peace after all they’ve been through? This is definitely a great read!
Dre never had any intentions of returning to Emerald Creek after what happened. She and Erick had plans to start her travel website, his restaurant, get married and have children. Everything was going great until Dre got a FaceTime call from Erick just before a business meeting. When he tells her that a night that resulted in him being unfaithful and subsequently becoming a father crushed her. Not having time to fall apart she put on a brave face and sold her dot come for millions. With plenty of money to make a fresh start that’s exactly what she did. Shs left Erick and Emerald Creek in her rear view mirror and never looked back. That was until she got a phone call that her best friend was in bad shape and needed her. Was she ready to go back to her old stomping grounds to face her hurtful past?
Erick has never forgiven himself for ruining the relationship he had with Dre. Not only did he lose his best friend, but the woman he loved. He knows he royally messed up and doesn’t deserve forgiveness, but he can’t help but have some hope that Dre will look past his faults. Erick wants another chance at building a happy life and he wants Dre to be his forever. Will her short stay be enough for him to get back into her good graces?
Best Of My Love (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Krista Vaughan
Dre certainly has no reason to return to her childhood home. Loyalty to her best friend is the only thing that could do it. The problem is that the main thing that kept her away is still there, too. Imagine being faced with the one man that you ever let close who screwed up your lives so drastically that you left. Would you still love him? Does Dre? This is a fantastic story about a beautiful but broken main character and the bravery she finds to face what broke her.

I enjoyed this heartwarming second chance at love romance story which had me happily turning the pages. Dre returns to her hometown, Emerald Creek having left after the man she thought she would marry, Erick, broke her heart. Having returned she is reminded of all the good things about spending summer in Emerald Creek but she’s not too happy to see Erick again. Erick knows that he made the biggest mistake of his life which resulted in him loosing the love of his life, Dre. Erick thought he was doing the right thing and is a great Dad to his little girl but now divorced he sees Dre’s reappearance in his life as a second chance. He has a summer to reclaim the only woman he’s ever loved and to rekindle Dre’s love for him. I felt fully engaged in the storyline and fell in love with the characters. The chemistry between Dre and Erick really came across in the story, as did the tension between them, especially when they first meet up again. The authors descriptive narrative bought both the setting of Emerald Creek and the characters to life for me which made me feel immersed in the story. The plot had me hooked from start to finish and the story flowed well and it took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. This is a newly edited and updated version of the novel for 2021, and I recommend this entertaining read.
This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I love a good second chance romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is a book from her Love in Emerald Creek series. This book could be read as a stand alone but there are other characters in the story I would love to read more about. Once I started to read this book I was hooked it only took me over a day to devour this incredible story.
Dre was madly in love with Erick but he ended up breaking her heart. She left Emerald Creek knowing she would never go back there again. Dre now owns her own company and only sees men as objects. She gets a phone call that has her rushing to the one place she said she would never return to Emerald Creek. Dre is helping her bestie recover and she runs into the man that broke her heart. She still feels something for Erick but she is afraid of getting hurt once again. Will Dre be able to put the past behind her or will she end up losing her true love once again?
A tale of love, betrayal and little town charm to keep the pages turning. The heroine Dre with just enough sass and badass to to keep you guessing. Be warned This book has some spice for you young adult readers but not so much you’ll be embarrassed to recommend it to your mother. It is a romance that you can’t help but root for. I don’t normally read Romance but I got to say this story just leapt off the page and i was invested in the lives of Dre and Erick before I knew it
I was once again pulled right into the story. We start out 10 years ago, Dre is getting ready to make a decision that could change her life. When she gets a call from her fiance her whole world shifts on its axis.
We jump ahead 10 years and Dre is called back home due to an emergency. She ends up staying in town to help her best friend. She ends up coming face-to-face with the man who broke her heart and he looks better than ever.
Erick is surprised to see Dre back in town and he is determined to get her back. It helps that his daughter is friends with her best friends’ kids. As they spend more time together the sparks start to fly again. Will they be able to rekindle what they had and get a HEA?
Overall I really enjoyed this book. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I felt like I had more than one story going on. We discover why Dre has so much anger towards her father and we get other twists and turns. I had some LOL moments with the children. If your looking for a great 2nd chance romance 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Reading this book pulled at your heartstrings for the characters. The author helped you see both sides of the characters’ stories and really made you feel for them. I was drawn in to the drama and just wanted to know how it all worked out in the end.
I especially enjoyed the snarky wit of Andrea. She is a real, take no crap kind of girl! Everyone needs to have a friend that knows them inside and out and that is there for them no matter what.
This book is all about second chances with a first love. The story between Erick and Dre is like a roller coaster ride with all the ups and downs. This story was well written, heart wrenching and at times a true punch in the gut. Dre’s character is so head strong and Erick is looking for a second chance with Dre due to his decision that he made years past. I really enjoyed this contemporary story of love, life and the ups and downs on forgiveness and moving on.
Best of My Love (Love in Emerald Creek) – N.D. Jackson
4-stars
This second chance romance read was highly entertaining and had me connected with the characters right from the get go. While I didn’t particularly agree with the characters actions, I did love all of the detail. This author wrote a seamless story that flowed really well with realistic characters and story lines that tugged at my heartstrings.
I connected with Dre from the beginning, her no non sense attitude and big heart were admirable. Because I connected with her I ended up reading this book in one sitting, I couldn’t wait to see how her story would play out, and I was not disappointed.
This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!
