A brand new contemporary romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans. When the wedding of your dreams is just around the corner, everything needs to go as planned. Only problem is, the groom didn’t get the memo.Aaron forgot the rings, and Lia is determined to make the long drive home to get them in time for their “I do’s.” But there’s a catch. … there’s a catch. There always is with Aaron, isn’t there?
Aaron is too hungover to come, and sends a replacement.
The best man.
Miles Foster. The cocky, arrogant, sexy best man…and the last person Lia wants to be trapped in a car with for hours.
But Aaron insists, and Lia wonders if there’s another reason Aaron wants Miles tagging along–aside from sticking her with a hot, surly babysitter.
Yet how bad can it be? It’ll be over before she knows it, and she’ll never see him again. Just like in college.
But when secrets are revealed, and Lia’s whole world is turned upside down, she realizes she’s been living a lie–and so has her groom.
Miles is supposed to be the best man at her wedding.
But what if he is simply the best man she has ever known? The best man for her?

This book was wow. While it was a work of fiction it does show that when something is right twelve hours can change your life. I was captivated by Lia and Miles’s story. It was simply wonderful. I kinda hated seeing it come to an end.
Growing up, Lia dreamed of a perfect wedding someday. She always set her goal at yes going to school, getting a degree, and marrying a man at a perfect wedding. Somehow, her dreams would not go further than that perfect wedding. Sounds familiar? As little girls most of us heard those goals. We never stopped to think what life after the wedding would be like and so set our expectations for the perfect partner.
This is Lia’s journey to enlightenment. It is 24 hours before her wedding and she must once again clean up Aaron’s mistake or lack of follow through and organization. He forgot their wedding rings!! As Lia travels up and down mountains to retrieve the rings, the best man accompanies her under the excuse of keeping her company and protecting her. Aaron is up to something and he has enlisted his best friend Miles in order to avoid Lia discovering something that might change their future.
Elaborate weddings, over the top dresses, and draining savings in order to pay for all of this is a common goal among the women getting married today. The focus is on the material achievement of a perfect wedding with little analysis as to whether or not the man proposing marriage is a good candidate as life partner. Sometimes we miss out on finding happiness because we are blinded by all the glitz.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Best Man was cute and easy light reading material. Dahlia was a clueless young woman who dream for a shining knight and perfect wedding. Well…things happened and the reality had sunken in.. I adored this kind of story.. Dahlia.. this was your perfect fairytale with Miles.. I had so many smiles from too much laughing.. The things you do to discover your happiness.. Like Mimi said.. its never too late
I love Katy Evans’ books, so I was so excited to read Best Man. She did a great job with this angsty and sexy novel! This is an enemies-to-lovers novel and if that trope is your cup of tea, what are you waiting for?? Grab this angsty, flirty, and sexy novel now!
I adored everything about this story except the main character, Lia! Now wait, before you get on my case, let me explain. I love the storyline, I love Miles and I love the outcome. However, for me, Lia made getting there a little hard. She isn’t one of those characters that you instantly fall for. She lets people walk all over her and it took me a while to like her. Now Miles, on the other hand, is the whole package. These two have history and it is very evident from the beginning. Although Lia was not my favorite character, I still enjoyed the book and think it is worthy of this four-star rating. I also think if you enjoy Katy’s writing and the enemies-to-lovers trope, you will enjoy this novel as well. Give it a chance, you might be surprised!
5 I DO STARS!! All I can say is…. I Do!!! You need this book on your ereaders or in your hands. Miles, Aaron and Lia have one heck of a story to tell and you need to hear it. Their story will hit all your emotion buttons from laughing, sad, mad and love. You definitely need this book….it is so good.
hmmmmm le sigh
The concept of the story gets a high 5 from me.
The execution of the story gets a high 5 from me.
The choices the author made for her characters get a BOO from me.
Cute story and I liked it but man did Lia rub me the wrooooong way! Wait, no, not all of her, but that whole five year with a person like Aaron just BAFFLES ME and honestly, it comes down to choices. Authors make choices every day about how/who they want their characters to be. This choice didn’t do it for me and it almost ruined the entire story for me *shrug*
***I received an ebook copy from the author at no cost***
Katie Evans nailed it again with her latest novel, Best Man.
Enemies-to-lovers isn’t a trope I’ve read much of but, I freaking loved this story. Lia has dreamed of the perfect wedding and she’s going to have it … until things go awry, the wedding rings are forgotten, and she’s stuck taking a journey with Miles, the best man who gets on her nerves like no other, to get the rings.
There’s an insane amount of UST in this story. Like, off the charts UST. Lia and Miles have this chemistry that’s white hot but … his best friend is set to marry her and holy wow, that factor only adds to the sexual tension between these two. The bulk of the book revolves around this wild trip that Lia and Miles are on to get the wedding rings. Over the course of the story, it became clear that although Lia and Miles have known one another for years and have been the best of frenemies the entire time, there may have always been something lingering just beneath the surface, waiting for the right moment to spark.
I’ve been a Kart Evans fan for years and one of my favorite elements of her writing are the characters she dreams up. The crew in Best Man is awesome. I really liked Lia as the heroine. She’s an average woman whoi wants a fairy tale happy ending with the man she loves. She’s got insecurities and there were some pieces in the history of her relationship with Aaron that weren’t so wonderful. And she’s funny and witty. When you combine all these things together, Lia is a relatable character for someone like myself. And Miles … oh, Miles. Katy crafts such intense leading men. Miles is intense and has this rough exterior. He knows exactly how to push Lia’s buttons and push them he does. But, as it turns out, Miles likes Lia … actually, he more than likes her.
The plot of this book was fun and original. I loved the course of events and the twists and turns that Katy threw in there. The writing is vivid, I was hooked on every word and, as I usually feel when I finish a Katy Evans book, I had quite the book hangover when it was finished.
If you’re a Katy Evans fan, you must grab this story and read it. And if you haven’t read anything by this author yet, what the heck are you waiting for? One click this book and you’ll see why it’s so easy to fall head over heels for her stories!
Five stars to this novel!
A wedding day is suppose to be perfect. But in this case there is a curveball and it is in the Best Man Miles Foster. Aaron has not been a perfect boyfriend/fiancé by any means but Lia loved him and felt secure. But he forgot the rings and now to drunk from last night didn’t want to bother getting them. Lia wanted to go alone except the weather was a issue and Aaron decided to have Miles go with her a man who seemed to hated her and the last person she wanted in the car with her. More things are revealed and soon a major decision needs to be made. A great read
Evans is an author who knows how to break a heart. Best Man is the work of a masterful, craftsman. What seems like a beautiful love story is littered with heartstopping, minefields that threaten to break more than a few hearts. At the center of everything is bride, Lia and her groom, Aaron and the secrets that could topple their seemingly normal house of cards. Add in a best man (Miles) with a few secrets of his own and let the disaster unfold. Best Man is an entrancing, tango of heartache, betrayal and perhaps, true love. A hauntingly addictive, scandalous romance.
She Was Always Something Special
The fantasy wedding, a hot and broody best man, missing wedding bands, a unexpected snowstorm and a stubborn bridezilla is the perfect recipe for a memorable enemies-to-lovers romance.
The day she always dreamed of is almost here. Two years in the making. It’s what she has always wanted…isn’t it?
Dahlia has been in love with Aaron for five years. Ever since freshman year of college. Her perfect relationship is going to give her the HEA she has always wanted. But first, the perfect wedding.
Until…her groom forgot the rings. Now she’s on a ten hour drive, with the best man, to get them.
A ten hour drive with Miles is exactly what she doesn’t need. He knows how to push all her buttons. He makes her question things. He sees her. He’s always been there, in the background. He’s exactly what she doesn’t need right now, right?
The guy she hates…maybe she doesn’t hate him so much. They always say that there is a fine line between love and hate. We’re about to watch them test out that theory.
This is Dahlia’s fairy tale. It has it’s drama and a whole lot of banter. It has sexual tension and a hot, broody alpha. It’s a story about making mistakes but refusing to make more. It’s about accepting the truth, even when it hurts. Dreams change.
I really enjoyed Dahlia and Miles. Their evolution during the road trip was fun, sweet at times and filled with sexy flashbacks. Dahlia changed throughout the story and I really enjoyed who she became. Miles came off as aloof and unfeeling at first, but as he let us in piece-by-piece I couldn’t help but love him. He had a hard outside with a gooey center. A great read!
I adored this sweet contemporary romance from the wonderful Katy Evans. It was a light, fast read that I devoured in one sitting. I could not put it down right from page one.
I loved the timeline and the connection between Miles and Lia. Miles owned my heart right from the beginning. Lia took a bit of time. Why she would ever settle for someone like Aaron is beyond me!
Miles and Lia meet in college at a frat party 5 years earlier and due to a miscommunication they go their separate ways. Miles returns shortly after to find out Lia has begun dating his best friend, Aaron and steps aside to let him have the girl.
I liked Lia in the flashback scenes. She was a somewhat confident girl that sees Miles and is immediately attracted to him. Their connection is instant and they have a ton of chemistry. Where Lia’s character falls apart for me is in the present. She and Miles are stuck in a car together to go pick up the rings that Aaron couldn’t bother to remember bringing to his own wedding. During this trip in the car they encounter some bad weather and driving conditions and we see an extremely stubborn side to Lia that grated on my nerves at times. She also allowed Aaron to treat her like a doormat through the course of their 5 year relationship and never stood up for herself. She deserved sooo much better and put up with way more than she should have. When she finally stands up for herself it is long overdue and the ending is very sweet.
My only complaint is that I would have liked there to have been an epilogue or more time with Miles and Lia together in the end but otherwise I loved it.
Thank you to Katy Evans and Social Butterfly PR for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange of an honest review.
Talk about one intense, frustrating, angsty read that will have you laughing, angry and happy but so enraptured with the story you can’t put it down. The relationship between Miles, Lia and Aaron was nothing short of complicated and conflicting but worth every moment! This is one heartaching live story you NEED to read!
3.5* Lia has always dreamed of the perfect wedding. She will do anything to make it that way. Even drive to get the rings that her fiance forgets and with Miles, the best man of all people. Even though they want to stab each other whenever they’re around each other. (Even though they met in college and liked each well enough then for a little bit.)
I’ll be honest, I wanted to stab Lia myself. She was so focused on the perfect wedding, she was settling on Aaron. Aaron who did what he wanted, put her down and made it pretty much really hard for me to like him at all. I loved Miles. Miles saved the story for me. It was kind of slow in places and I almost put it down but I had to see how it ended.
When Lia and Miles go and get the rings more than one secret is revealed. Some are truly shocking! Will the secrets be enough for Lia to see the writing on the wall or is she SO focused on the stupid, perfect wedding that she doesn’t see it?
Best Man is wildly entertaining where the tension ratchets up as the countdown to the wedding gets closer. Dahlia can’t wait to get married and start her life together with her college boyfriend. She may be a bit obsessed with all the details and ensuring the day is perfect, but there will be 500 guests. She’s less excited to have Miles stand up as the best man. He’s arrogant, a know it all, too smart for his own good, and nothing and no one lives up to his high standards. Lia and Miles are an explosive combination as they constantly fight and argue when they’re together, so it’s not ideal that he joins her on the trip to retrieve the forgotten wedding rings. This impromptu trip brings up the past, comes with surprising truths, and forces Lia to re-evaluate what she’s about to do. Katy Evans weaves together the past and present to build the tension and anticipation in this book I didn’t want to put down.
What’s amazing about this story is the majority of it takes place in the span on 24 hours. I really liked Lia and her blinders she wore around Aaron drove me a little insane. Miles…he’s one tall, dark and brooding hottie. The two were like oil and water but stuck together the hidden feelings are slowly revealed. I loved the tension and twist but with just 24 hours and flashbacks…I wish they’d had more time. Still it was a fun read and kept me entertained. I was sucked into how everything would turn out and couldn’t stop turning pages.
Such an amazing read, The story starts on Lia’s wedding day with Aaron. Huh. I thought this was about Lia and Miles. But I continued and so glad I did. What a story. Lia thought she hated Miles and she thought he hated her. But they say there is a fine line between love and hate. Lia and Miles find themselves stranded the night before her wedding to Aaron because of a snowstorm. To say things get heated up between the two is an understatement. So many questions are answered and so many things are corrected for them. They are so good for each other. It makes you wonder what she is doing with Aaron. One thing I can figure is she is settling for Aaron. He doesn’t treat her right, he cheats on her constantly and she always takes him back. Miles is so polar opposite of him. Once he graduated he left and settled into a life of an adult. Not Aaron. He can’t let go of his “college days.” They are best friends but so different . Why is Lia settling? During this snowstorm she realizes all the times Miles was there for her when Aaron wasn’t. She also comes to realize that he doesn’t in fact hate her he loves her. But she is marrying Aaron in less than 24 hours. A wedding she has dreamed of, her parents have spent every dollar they have on. The perfect day. But now knowing her feelings for Miles and his for her does she go through with it and settle or just walk away from it.
This book will have you glued to every word. You will not be able to put it down. A true 5 star read.
Best Man is another steamy, passionate, heartaching and sweet love story from Katy Evans. She made me live and love every single confusing, arousing, intense, angsty and intoxicating emotion!
Lia is getting married to her love of life Aaron in her dream wedding. She is hundred percent committed and engaged in this extravaganza. She believes Aaron has changed from his obnoxious college frat boy days. But when she is forced to spend the day before wedding on snow filled road with the best man Miles, truths and secrets come out. And she is left in a mess of doubt, confusion, anger, guilt and heartbreak. We can only hope she will make the right decision. Because she has past memories and future feelings for Miles. And vice versa is true.
Miles is an extraordinary guy. He is great at everything. He was never one of those ladykiller, partying, cheating and arrogant frat boys. He is meticulous, organized , responsible and caring to extreme. He does not let anyone touch him but Lia broke his defense and that one night changed his life forever. My heart was breaking for this guy. He stood silently while his best friend got his girl and did not treat her fairly. And Lia has unresolved feelings for Miles but she suppressed them and ignored them and made herself believe that Aaron is THE MAN for her. But being stranded in a snow storm under exhausted state made them say those hidden things. Oh wow I just loved that slow painful torture! They have electrifying chemistry and they will set fire once they give in their impulse. They thought they hate each other as Miles act like a rude and cold man around her. But this hate was other side of love. My only issue was the overnight change in their feelings and the silence of Miles while he saw Aaron mistreating Lia. I understand why they avoided and denies the feelings. But Miles could have protected Lia better without mishandling his own hurt. And same goes with Lia. Why not try to stand up to Aaron and stop forgiving him after every mistake? She is a sweet, stunning and adorable woman. And she should have protected her self respect better.
Best Man by Katy Evans was a beautifully written emotional and steamy romance. It has some unforgettable moments. And it will tear your heart apart and also make you feel giddy with swoonworthy feelings!
Received ARC for Honest review
Best Man is a fantastic read. I couldn’t put it down. Lia you feel for her like she is stuck between a rock and a hard place. As you get to know Lia’s past with her fiancé Aaron and the best man Miles you just feel how torn she is. I love Lia and watching her struggle with her decision what to do up to her wedding day just pulls at your heart. This book is just one you have to read because I don’t want to give away too much with this one. Go one click this one and enjoy Lia, Aaron and Miles.
It hard to write a review without spoiling the content so I’ll try to do my best not to do that; I’ve been sitting here thinking how to rate this story. I mean I was having a blast while reading it and I adored Miles and the way he handled his feeling for Lia; although to be honest he could have acted a lot sooner but OK. What I didn’t love or liked that much was Lia and the way she viewed herself or how she let Aaron treat her.
The one thing she had going on for her was the way she FINALLY said enough and took matters into her hands by the end of the book. She did redeem herself there.
For my first book by Katy Evans I can say I’ll be picking up more of her book for sure.

I’ve never read about a couple that had to go thru sooooo much for their happily ever after like these two. Miles and Lia dances around everything. She was his best friend fiancé and he’s the best man at their wedding. BUT their was more to them that no one knew. When you read the backstory about these two you’ll be like how on the world did they get there and not there like so many questions. Well it was 5 years in the making. They despised each other but when they got stuck together in a snowstorm they realized that wasn’t the case. It’s so much to these two and you realize that Lia was just settling. Miles made it hard to believe about his feelings, lol. He was so serious that you didn’t know what would happen next. Loved how everything unraveled.
