LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!!!!
WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO LIA & MILES?
WiLL WE GET A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FiND OUT
THAT WAS ADORABLE!
I really enjoyed reading this.
We immediately realize that Aaron is so not the right guy for Lia. We want Miles!
But they hate each other … right??
The drive to Denver is pretty uneventful, but on the way back we get some very interesting moments!
This was a really fun and adorable snow-road-trip-adventure-second-chance-kind-of-rom-com!
I loved it. It was not really all that long and you kinda know from the first pages what is going to happen, but I enjoyed reading it. It was a cute romance! Lia was a bit (okay, a lot!) ridiculous and I wanted to hit her over the head with my kindle multiple times – why is she still with that guy???? Ugh, I would’ve kicked him out the door 4 years and 363 days ago! Jeez.
It was a cute romance with cute moments, but there was a lot missing. It felt like Katy wanted to write a quick & cute rom-com but she got lost between novella and novel and it’s not either of those things. It could’ve/should’ve had more depth and just more of everything!
What was it with mentioning the mafia at all? I would’ve expected some kind of exciting crime thing to happen to them. And Lia’s brother? He also seemed interesting, maybe he’ll get his own book …
Also … 500 wedding guests??? And all in one little Colorado lodge? Royal weddings don’t have that many guests … a bit weird!
But I really loved Miles! He was the best part of the book. A kind of detective Monk hottie!
BEST MAN was an adorable, sexy & funny & sad snowy-road-trip-wedding love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Miles! This one is mine!
It is said that love and hate are opposite sides of the same coin, and Katy Evans dives into those feelings in her latest contemporary romance, Best Man. The title seems to imply that this could be a light and breezy wedding-themed romcom, but this story isn’t that simple, and the only thing breezy about it was the weather the couple encountered.
It’s been a hot minute or two since I’ve read anything by Katy Evans, however, I’ve read the entire REAL series, and, well, that isn’t a series a romance reader ever forgets. While Best Man is not nearly as intense as any of the REAL series books were, it was still thick with the angsty emotion that Evans is known to serve up. Part enemies-to-lovers, part second-chance romance, part forbidden romance, the relationships in this book are complex and complicated. The author does a good job of sorting through the entwined histories of Miles, Aaron and Lia, although I can admit that I wanted more depth, especially from Miles. The vast majority of the book takes place in the 24 hours leading up to Aaron and Lia’s wedding, with a heavy focus on the 12-hour road-trip Lia and Miles, the best man in their wedding and Aaron’s childhood best friend, make back to Boulder to retrieve the wedding rings Aaron forget, a fairly symbolic gesture that sums up their relationship pretty accurately, for Lia’s perfect day.
Aaron and Lia ’s relationship definitely felt a bit forced to me, and that’s because it was. When it came down to it, they really were just going through the motions because that’s what they knew and what they’ve always done—it’s who they were as a couple. Instead of working on that, Lia was consumed by planning the wedding, and her sole focus was on making the wedding an absolutely perfect day, the day of her dreams. The problem was that she was overlooking the fact that her relationship with Aaron wasn’t what dreams were built on, and he wasn’t her dream man. It takes a 12-hour road trip with a man she can’t stand for her to come to terms with that reality before she can recognize what is right there in front of her.
Best Man by Katy Evans was much more emotional and angsty than I was anticipating it to be, and considering the timeline of the plot, the author really packed a tremendous amount of feeling into this fast-paced story. Brimming with those edge-of-your-seat emotions, Best Man was a twisting, turning, heart-achingly hard-fought road trip to love. Four smooches from me for Best Man by Katy Evans!
~Danielle Palumbo, Red Cheeks Reads
Never have a doubt when it comes to one-clicking a book from Katy Evans. Her writing is engaging and fast-paced. Her heros and heroines are always sexy and entertaining. In Best Man, Miles Foster is definitely the best man…swoon….
This story takes place over the course of a few days, with Lia prepping for her imminent wedding to Miles’ best friend, Aaron. She and Miles have been frenemies for years, connected through good times, and bad, with Aaron. But maybe there’s always been something else brewing under the surface of their love/hate relationship? I loved watching their story unfold, and I think you will too!
I wasn’t expecting Best Man to turn up on my Kindle, however I dived right in when I saw it.
Now, I have adored all the Katy Evans, this one – not so much.
We can tell right from the get go that the fiance is a douchenugget – which is fine, he is what he is.
I adored Miles – the best man – right away. You get the feels right away that he is not what he is made out to be.
However, my problem in this story is our leading lady Lia.
Oy, what a doormat! I get you love the guy, however why, why, why do you let him treat you the way he does? Why go back? Heck, even as things evolve in the time of this story, you know but what, you don’t care? Don’t give AF? I really don’t understand you at all.
It made you really unlikable, and if it wasn’t for Miles, I think I would have given up on this one – sorry Ms Evans.
If you can get over Lia’s lack of backbone, you will probably enjoy this more than me.
On the eve of her wedding Lia finds herself taking a road trip with her fiancé’s best friend. Aaron never stood a chance. He was a tool from the start and I actually couldn’t believe she agreed to marry him in the first place. Miles. Swoon. I loved Lia and Miles together. They flowed so well. I didn’t want this one to end.
1 BOOK =
2 DAYS. A few hours road trip. Two much snow.
2 characters who can’t stand each other… On the eve of our heroine’s wedding. A hero who is not the groom…
I loved the concept!
I was a bit skeptical at first but finally it’s brilliant. Katy Evans had a great idea.
Lia had a one night stand a few years ago with Miles. He left and never returned… Now she’s going to marry his best friend Aaron.
AARON is a real douche. Immature, selfish, mean…
I’ve spent the entire book wondering why LIA stayed with him for so long. I wanted to shake her and shout at her. That was really frustrating.
I knew since the beginning MILES didn’t hate her but loved her but it was not easy to understand his behavior.
THERE ARE ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO THE STORY!!! And you need to read the whole novel to understand everyone’s point of vue. Even Aaron’s one. I’m not saying he’s a good man and that he has good excuses. ABSOLUTELY NOT! But it’s interesting to know more about what he feels.
I still would have prefer Lia dumping him sooner but i understand … a bit… why she stayed with a man like him.
As for Miles… i love him!!! He’s unique, not the kind of hero we are used to. I can tell you how amazing he is but it’s better for you to see him as a mysterious man you want to discover. The only thing i didn’t understand is why Miles is friend with Aaron… even more at the end of the book…
Addictive, surprising, uncommon, this story is a TBR.
I bought this book because the blurb had me hooked (it didn’t hurt that it was majorly on sale!). I had no idea I would love it as much as I do!
Best Man is everything wrong and also everything right about relationships. It’s real easy as a bystander to see the differences. Thankfully, our bride opens her veiled eyes…eventually.
This road trip/life changing journey is the perfect read for any pit stop, flyby, or afternoon needing some true romance. This kind of love makes even the reader feel special. Katy Evans nailed it even if we never got to see the full catwoman suit! Also, beware of snowflakes! (As I type this it’s snowing here in NJ!)
This is a short and sweet story between a would be bride and, oh no, not a groom but the best man. Lia has planned the wedding of her dreams. She is set to marry Aaron. There’s only one problem, Aaron forgot the rings. She and Miles make the 5-hour drive to get them. She doesn’t count on talking to him, much less falling for him.
I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend it if you’re in search of a short, sweet read.
Best man was a pleasant read and Katy Evans knows how to write sexy alpha Male.
Miles Foster is the best character- his personality has it all. He is strong, intelligent, witty and HOT HOT!!
He’s the best friend of the groom Aaron and met the bride to be during a frat night party… Now 5 years later they can’t stand each other and have nothing kind to say to each other..
Lia is obsessed with her wedding , actually everytime Miles was calling her shorty or bridezilla it made smile as it was so so true!
She has to leave the day before her wedding to do a round trip to get something she needed for her wedding… she was meant to go and be back with a few hours but things didn’t go to plan… luckily Miles joined her on this road trip! Was it luck though?
At the start I struggled with the heroine and her obsessive personality. I think that her character developed well towards the end and she grew as a woman.
I enjoyed the role between the 2 lead characters. The humorous dialogue kept me reading, I found it a good and easy read.
Lia is 24 hours away from her dream wedding. To Aaron, the douchbag. She’s been so wrapped up in perfecting all the details of the big day that she continually overlooks what an asshole her fiance is. On the eve of the wedding, her fiance realizes that he forgot their wedding rings. Aaron sends Lia down a mountain, with the best man, to retrieve the rings. The trip turns into a journey for Lia that has her questioning everything she’s ever wanted.
This was a really interesting plot. I really struggled with Lia though. She spent years putting up with her fiance being a jerk and seemed oblivious to all of his overt shenanigans. Then her trip with Miles causes her to open her eyes for the first time. I didn’t love some of the choices that she made in the end even though I thought Lia and Miles had great chemistry. And Miles was definitely swoon worthy.
(3.8 stars)
When your fiancé forgets the rings prior to your dream wedding what do you do? Well if your Lia, you get stuck on a road trip to get them with the last person you want to be around…the best man, Miles Foster. She never thought there would be so many hiccups before getting married but maybe there is a reason nothing is going as planned. They have a past but will that make their mapped out futures change? I enjoyed the premise of the story. Can the one you hate the most be the one you need? 12 hours were never so stressful! I enjoyed Miles but Lia was a little too meek for my liking. Told in Lia’s POV
A love triangle only known by 2. The object Lea is unware that her fiancé’s best friend Miles has
been in love with her since their first encounter. The fiancé Aaron is a cheat and supposedly Lea
is not aware. The story is a cute read but you want to shake Lea and wake her up from her dream
world wedding. I have read most of Katy Evan’s books and enjoyed them all. This was a bit to
back and forth with Lea not knowing her fiancé of 5 years is a cheat really unbelievable. Makes Lea
seem unrealistic and gullible. A fast read and entertaining.
I love Katy Evans writing. It’s just flawless. And this story has everything you love in a second chance, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance. Lia Ripley is days away from her dream wedding. She has been planning this for 19 months and every single detail is perfect. That is until she finds out that the groom, Aaron, forgot the rings at his apartment which is 5 hours away. Since Aaron says he’s basically still drunk from the bachelor party the night before and can’t drive, Lia says she will go but Aaron insists his best man go along. Lia tries to refuse but doesn’t win the fight. Lia knows this is going to be bad based on her history with the best man, Miles Forster. Lia & Miles hooked up for one night of incredible passion when they were in college. Lia couldn’t understand why Miles ghosted her after that night but Aaron swooped in and the rest was history, right??? The road trip is an adventure, secrets are discovered, and truths are confessed. This is a sweet, swoony, sexy, fun story with a great cast of characters. Definitely needs to be your next 1 click read!!!

Lia was supposed to have her dream wedding marrying the man of her dreams. But there’s always a lingering feeling for her fiance’s best friend, Miles. The thing is if Miles hadn’t ran away five years ago, pretty sure, she wouldn’t be with Aaron. But with Miles…
Now, just mere days away from her wedding, Miles is with her and all those feelings from years ago resurfaced. She’s thinking everything’s a mistake now..Will she marry the man of her dreams of the best man?
This story had me on edge the entire time! wow the author blew me away with her words, it was perfection!
I knew this was going to be a good read when you have a Bridezilla and a broody best man stuck in a snowstorm going to get the wedding rings the unreliable groom forgot! I was really intrigued with how this was going to play out.
Dahlia, aka bridezilla, has been in love with Aaron for 5 years since Freshman year of College. She has her dream wedding in mind and she is going to get her perfect wedding and HEA, she just has to survive the roadtrip first.
Miles, the best-man, certainly knows how to push Dahlia’s buttons, he is always there in the background and really sees her, makes her question things which is not good and what she doesn’t need when she is close to her perfect wedding. They always say there is a fine line between love and hate. Dahlia always thought she hated Miles but I think that is denial speaking.
This is one book from Katy Evans that will have you unable to put it down as you really want to see how it is all going to play out.
Dahlia and Aaron are getting married in what Dahlia planned as the “wedding of the century”, 500 guests and all. All her life she’s dreamed of her big day, and spent two stressful years planning every detail, sparing no expense, and spending her father’s entire life’s savings into the event. As I read the book, I immediately realized two things: Aaron is a loser and she’s really in love with Miles, the best man. That said, I was appalled at the extravagant expense of the wedding and at the fact that Dahlia didn’t mind her father dunking so much money into the extravaganza.
As the book develops, more and more events bring doubts about Aaron’s love for Dahlia and Dahlia’s love for Aaron. I became convinced that Dahlia is one of those women who are in love with the concept of marriage and she’s more about the ceremony than the man. When she finds out that Aaron forgot the rings back at his apartment, a five-hour ride away from the wedding venue, she decides to drive and get them, because her wedding has to be perfect and nothing is allowed to mar the event.Aaron is too hungover from the previous night’s bachelors party so Miles is designated as her travel companion, and here is where the joy ride begins.
To add to Dahlia’s delusion, she decided to make the trip against everyone’s protest and Miles’ warning about the weather (it’s winter and it may snow). She’s so convinced that nothing will mar her wedding day that even the weather will cooperate when she takes on the trip. And of course the weather acts up and we get our fun and sexy times.
The whole chronicle of events take less than 24 hours and it’s a testament to this author’s incredible talent how she made such an entertaining story out of a day’s trip. Miles is surly and Dahlia is snarky. They hate on each other until the sparks fly and implode.
.I had mixed feelings about this character. Even though she’s a nice person, she doesn’t seem to have a striking personality. During her college years, she was easily led by Aaron’s guidance into years of partying and drinking, affecting her grades, which weren’t very good to begin with. She majored in English, and then despaired of finding a job. She had constant doubts and misgivings about Aaron, and yet she persevered on getting married. She had a little something with Miles early on, before she and Aaron hooked up, and then forced herself to ignore the twinges of feelings and yet, he’s present, front and center, in her thoughts all through the story. And she still insists on going to get the rings. Deluded and stubborn!
I had a great respect for Miles. He fell in love with Dahlia, but respected her relation with Aaron, so moved away after graduation. Aaron still saw him as his best friend, but Miles moved on because he saw that Aaron didn’t grow up. He was focused on his goals and was making a great life in Denver, career-wise. He was sarcastic with Dahlia, mostly to hide his true feelings and to keep a distance. Even with his attitude, he was protective, considerate and more of a gentleman with her than Aaron.
This story was hugely entertaining for the fun factor. I loved Miles and wanted to hit Dahlia. She was missing on a great man because she was negating her feelings. I cringed at what I suspected would happen but at the same time I rooted for Miles to get her woman. I just wondered if she was such a great bargain, being so clueless although kind.
“You are everything, Lia. Sweet, kind, beautiful, smart, and a hell of a good chess player, too.”
I was so excited to read this book and really enjoyed it. After reading the blurb I was excited to get my hands on it.
Miles is Aaron’s best friend and best man in his wedding. Miles and the bride Lia don’t get along and when she’s stuck with him, she sees him different. Miles accompanies Lia back to Aaron’s apartment to get the wedding rings. The weather kept them from making back to the wedding location. They are stuck together and can’t seem to get along. The more time they spend together, and Lia begins to question her decisions even more. Will she go through with her wedding?
This was such a fun fast paced read that I really enjoyed.
The ego..the attitude..the good looks..Miles was going to be a challenge for Lia the moment they got into the car together. The journey to find an very important nuptial item that was left behind by her not so honest soon to be husband, Aaron. Starts to become a lot more than expected during the bantering, and a bad snowstorm. Feelings become increasingly difficult to ignore. Miles may be Aaron’s best man, but Lia may be choosing the wrong man..This was a great standalone. Katy has done a great job creating the perfect HOA for her characters. I can’t wait for more from her!
The twofold meaning behind the title of Katy Evans’ newest release, Best Man, applies to Miles Foster – the man who is the best man in the upcoming wedding of his best friend, Aaron Eberhart, and his girlfriend of 5 years, Lia Ripley. But even more, he’s the man who is best for Lia, despite the fact that they seem to hate each other and her wedding to Aaron is just days away.
The idea that things aren’t what they seem dominates the story line until it reaches the point of no return, but the defining concepts of that point aren’t the same for every character, which means that some seem to hold on too long while others give in too easily, leading them to question everything about their lives, where they should be and who they should be with…
Full disclosure, I went blindly into this story because I’m an avid reader of Katy Evans’ romances, and while there are things about the story line that I liked, I struggled with a few facets of the plot line, especially in relation to the heroine, and because of the way everything comes to a head toward the end of the book, I didn’t feel like enough of the story was spent illustrating exactly why Miles and not Aaron was the best man for Lia, and this left me feeling a bit unsatisfied, even after the couple I rooted for, ended up finding their way to each other when it counted the most.
While Best Man wasn’t my favorite Katy Evans’ story, the writing was solid and the fact that each chapter heading had a time stamp, placing it on a continuous timeline that comes to a head on the day of the wedding drove the story forward and illustrated that one way or another, everything would be decided by the time Lia walked down the aisle.
